Breitbart Business Digest: Americans Aren’t Giving Thanks for Biden’s Economy

Ornery Americans Refuse to Stop Noticing Inflation

Someone forgot to tell American families that inflation has been canceled.

The University of Michigan’s survey of consumer sentiment was released on Wednesday. The most striking development in consumer sentiment is not the fact that households remain in the doldrums about the economy—that’s been going on for a while now—but a dramatic increase in consumer expectations for inflation.

Home Sales Fell to a 13-Year Low in October as Prices Rose

Sales of previously owned homes were 4.1% lower in October compared with September, running at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 3.79 million units, according to the National Association of Realtors.

It was the slowest sales pace since August 2010. Analysts were expecting a smaller drop, to 3.9 million units. Sales were down 14.6% year over year.

The October sales count is based on closings from contracts likely signed in August and September. The average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage had dropped to near 7% at the end of August, but then began rising sharply, jumping over 8% by mid-October. Rates have since retreated somewhat.

2 Dead After Vehicle Crashes Into Rainbow Bridge Checkpoint and Explodes at U.S.-Canada Border in Niagara Falls

“I’ve been briefed on the incident on the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls and we are closely monitoring the situation,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said.

The FBI is investigating a vehicle explosion Wednesday at the border crossing between Canada and the United States after a vehicle crashed into the checkpoint structure at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, four senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter said.

There were two occupants in the vehicle that crashed and both are dead, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter.

A Customs and Border Protection officer also suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization, a senior law enforcement official said.

The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the structure, caught fire and exploded. An initial search did not find a secondary explosive or device, the law enforcement officials said, noting this was preliminary information.

Authorities are investigating whether the crash was intentional.

All western New York bridge crossings into the U.S. were shut down following the incident, the Erie County executive said. The vehicle was headed into the U.S., the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said.

Breaking: Colorado Supreme Court to Hear Appeal After Lower Court Allowed Trump to Stay on the Ballot

Following a ruling in Colorado last week against efforts to keep 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump from the primary ballot in the state, the Colorado Supreme Court has agreed to take up the case.

Trump has not been charged with inurrection in any of the cases against him.

Both Trump’s team and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which filed the initial complaint, have appealed to the state’s high court.

Fiery Car Crash at US-Canada Border Kills 2; Terrorism Ruled Out

WASHINGTON, Nov 22 (Reuters) — A speeding car crashed in flames on the bridge linking New York state and Ontario at Niagara Falls on Wednesday, killing two people in the vehicle and sparking a security scare that closed four U.S.-Canadian border crossings and Buffalo International Airport.

Hours later federal and state authorities said investigators had found no evidence of an act of terror, though circumstances surrounding the episode on the Rainbow Bridge remained murky, leaving it yet to be determined whether the crash was accidental or intentional.

“At this time, there is no indication of a terrorist attack,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul told reporters Wednesday evening. Her comments were echoed a short time later by federal law enforcement officials at a separate news conference.

Video of the crash caught on security camera and posted to the social media platform X by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency showed the car traveling at high speed, then hitting an object and flying into the air before it crashed to the ground and exploded in flames.

The driver and a passenger perished in the wreck, and a CBP officer suffered minor injuries. He was treated at a nearby hospital and released, an agency official said later.

Authorities did not give names of the two people believed to have been killed. CNN reported the driver was a 56-year-old man who had been on his way to a rock concert in a luxury Bentley automobile with his wife.

The incident unfolded at a time of heightened security concerns around the world stemming from the conflict in the Middle East and at the peak of U.S. holiday travel on the eve of Thanksgiving celebrations.

Professor John Strauss is Placed on Leave From USC After Edited Video is Made to Look Like He Supported Murder of Palestinians

In November 2023, USC Economics professor John Strauss found himself at the center of a controversy that resulted from his public condemnation of Hamas, a Palestinian group widely recognized as a terrorist organization.

Strauss, who is Jewish, was caught in a storm created by edited video footage that was circulated by students. Consequently, the professor was barred from teaching on campus, necessitating his shift to online teaching for the rest of the semester.

In the full-length video, Strauss can be heard criticizing Hamas and its supporters, claiming, “People are ignorant… Hamas are murderers; that’s all they are. Every one should be killed and I hope they all are.”

However, the video was edited and was shared on various USC student and alumni Instagram accounts and a community petition only contained the latter part of his statement, implying a broader desire for violence against Palestinians when it was, in fact, only Hamas. As a result of the edited video being shared, the professor found himself facing allegations of promoting and inciting violence against Palestinians.

RFK Jr. Petitions Biden to Release Final JFK Assassination Records

Longshot presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is petitioning President Biden to release the final government records about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on the 60th anniversary of his death.

Update: ‘No Sign of Terrorist Activity’ in US/Canada Rainbow Bridge Explosion: Governor Hochul

An explosion on the Rainbow Bridge connecting the US and Canada earlier today was initially considered to be a terror attack, but later reports indicated that while there was an explosion due to a car crash, leaving two dead, there was not a terror attack. Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at a press conference, saying “Based on what we know at this moment—and again anything can change—there is no sign of terrorist activity with respect to this crash.”

The vehicle, she said, was being driven by a western New Yorker. The two in the car died, while another was injured.

Update: Fox News Reporter Walks Back Claims of Explosives and Terror Motive in US/Canada Rainbow Bridge Explosion

A vehicle explosion on the Rainbow Bridge border crossing between the US and Canada on Thursday was reported to be a terror attack by Fox News. The reporter who made that assertion later walked back the reports.

Fox News reported that sources informed them that the vehicle which exploded at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing were attempting to drive towards the border officer building. Reporter Alexis McAdams stated that she had been informed by “high level police sources” that the explosion was “an attempted terrorist attack. Sources say the car was full of explosives. Both men inside are dead.”

She included a statement from the FBI, which stated that “The FBI Buffalo Field Office is investigating a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge, a border crossing between the U.S. and Canada in Niagara Falls. The FBI is coordinating with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. As this situation is very fluid, that’s all we can say at this time.”

Vehicle Explodes on ‘Rainbow Bridge’ Connecting New York & Canada, Border Crossings Halted

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — A vehicle exploded at a checkpoint on the American side of a U.S.-Canada bridge in Niagara Falls Wednesday, leaving two people dead and prompting the closing of four border crossings in the area, authorities said.

There was no immediate information on the cause of the explosion, but it raised concerns on both sides of the border. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said officials were “taking this extraordinarily seriously,” and the White House said President Joe Biden was “closely following developments.”

The two deceased people were in the vehicle, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The official was not authorized to discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Antifa Claims Responsibility for Pre-Election Attack on Dutch Populist Thierry Baudet

An Antifa cell in the Netherlands has claimed responsibility for an attack on Dutch populist leader Thierry Baudet during a campaign event in Groningen on Monday evening.

On the eve of the general election in the Netherlands, it was revealed by the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper that assailant of Forum for Democracy (FvD) leader Thierry Baudet was a 15-year-old member of a local branch of the leftist militant Antifa activist group.

According to the paper, the Antifa cell, Antifascist Action North (AFA Noord), acknowledged that the attacker was a member of their far-left organisation, proclaiming: “We are disrupting and blocking assemblies in our struggle against fascism and right-wing extremism. This boy has acted from his conviction and made use of the possibility.”

Austria: Only Citizens Should Receive Benefits, Says Vienna FPÖ Chief

The leader of the conservative Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) in Vienna, a party which for roughly a year now has consistently topped the country’s polls, has once again called for social welfare benefits such as minimum income to be linked to citizenship, citing newly released figures from Vienna’s integration report that revealed a third of the city’s inhabitants (34%) do not have an Austrian passport.

Commenting on the integration report released Tuesday, November 21st, Vienna’s FPÖ leader, Councilor Dominik Nepp, stated that the “numbers are a clear indication that we need to protect our social systems and provide incentives for real integration,” the Austrian news portal Exxpress reported.

Central Europe Opposes EP’s Power Grab Attempts

The European Parliament adopted a report on Wednesday, November 22nd that seeks to amend the treaties of the European Union, liquidating member states’ veto rights, and giving more power to EU institutions. The resolution was accepted by 291 votes, with 274 MEPs voting against it, and 44 abstaining. The vote itself shows how divisive the issue is, and member states don’t seem keen on change either.

As we reported, conservative MEPs called the proposals an attempt “to hijack Europe,” and to create “a dystopian superstate that degrades member countries to the status of regions.”

EU is on ‘Witch Hunt’ Against Hungary for Its Stance on Migration and Ukraine, Says Leading Austrian MEP

With the debate on a possible threat to the rule of law in Hungary, the European Parliament is forcing the Hungarian government and Viktor Orban to run yet another political gauntlet with the help of left-wing political groups and the European People’s Party, said Austrian MEP Georg Mayer on Tuesday.

Alleged threat to the rule of law

Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) MEP Georg Mayer described today’s debate on the “threat to the rule of law in Hungary” as a “political gauntlet.”

“Of course, certain political groups want to put this issue back on the agenda, as the Hungarian government and Orban are not on the left and centralist political line they should be on,” Mayer said.

The Austrian MEP criticized the fact that the left-wing political groups, but also the center-right European People’s Party (EPP), are using flimsy accusations to start a debate by threatening Hungary once again with the withdrawal of EU funding.

EU Parliament to Vote on ‘Dystopian Superstate’ Proposal

The European Parliament will most likely approve a report on Wednesday, November 22nd, that seeks to amend the treaties of the European Union, liquidating member states’ veto rights, and giving more power to EU institutions in what conservative forces are describing as a dangerous power grab.

As we previously reported, the proposals were put forward by the so-called ‘Verhofstadt Group’, a circle of MEPs led by the Eurofederalist Guy Verhofstadt from the liberal Renew group. The plans would see a massive transfer of competences from a national to an EU level, and the unanimity voting system—veto rights of member states—would almost completely be abolished, to be replaced by majority or qualified majority voting.

European Lawmakers Vote for Abolition of Member State Vetoes in Latest EU Power Grab

The vote was only narrowly passed with a majority of just 17 after a faction of conservative parliamentary groups expressed considerable opposition to the move.

Far-Right Populist Geert Wilders Set for Landslide Win in Dutch Election, Exit Poll Shows

Dutch anti-EU far-right populist Geert Wilders, who has vowed to halt all immigration to the Netherlands, was set for a major victory in parliamentary elections on Wednesday, an exit poll showed.

Beating all predictions, the exit poll put Wilders’ Freedom Party (PVV) at 35 out of 150 seats, 10 seats ahead of the closest rival, former EU commissioner Frans Timmermans’ Labour/Green Left combination. That margin was far greater than expected and appeared to be too great for the outcome to change.

Exit polls are generally reliable with a margin of error of roughly two seats.

‘I Hope That the Construction of the Central Communication Port Will Not be Abandoned,’ Says Polish Left-Wing MP

Matysiak expressed her desire to see the CPK proceed, albeit potentially under a different name or with minor changes. She highlighted the project’s ambition and necessity and considered the proposed development of nearly 2,000 kilometers of new railway lines as a significant leap for Polish civilization. This expansion is contrasted with the mere 60 kilometers built since the early 1990s.

‘Mega Victory!’ Anti-Mass Migration Populist Geert Wilders Wins Most Seats in Dutch Elections, Exit Polls Show

Geert Wilders and his Party for Freedom (PVV) have swept to a stunning victory in Dutch elections, with exit polls predicting that his populist anti-mass migration party will become the largest force in the House of Representatives in the Netherlands.

UPDATE 2130: Pieter Omtzigt, whose New Social Contract (NSC) party is projected to secure 20 seats in the House of Representatives, said that he is “available to govern”, suggesting that a potential coalition with election victor Geert Wilders. While Omtzigt did not mention Wilders’ Party for Freedom by name, he referenced comments from the populist, saying he is “willing to jump over his shadow”. Previously, Omtzigt had suggested he would not be willing to work with Wilders and said Wednesday evening that forming a government would not be easy, but it is the first indication that Wilders’ strong success may force centre-right parties to fall in line and support him as prime minister. Wilders, who is projected to have secured 35 seats, will need at least 41 seats from other parties to pass the 76-seat threshold needed for a majority.

UPDATE 2100: In his first response to his impressive election upset, Party for Freedom leader Geert Wilders hailed the success as a “mega victory” while saying that it is now impossible to ignore the Dutch populists. Wilders went on to say that he was determined to govern and called on the other centre-right parties to “step over their own shadows” and come together to form a government. He said that if they refused to do so, it would be “very undemocratic” and that the voters of the Netherlands “would not accept that”.

Netherlands: “A Fight Between Good and Evil”: An Interview With Frederik Jansen

Frederik “Freek” Jansen is a member of parliament for the Forum for Democracy (FvD), a fast-growing Dutch conservative party led by the charismatic Thierry Baudet. Jansen has been involved in FvD ever since it became a party in 2016 and is also the chair of its highly active youth wing.

We met Jensen in the FvD offices in the parliament, just as the staff was preparing for the final push at the last round of debates on Tuesday night. Baudet was also there—despite being hospitalized after being assaulted the night before—full of energy and ready for the action.

The FvD is currently polling at five seats, but that might be misleading as the party’s true support was never easy to gauge, precisely because of its highly unique character in the Dutch political scene. Considering their huge support among the youth, the FvD believes it’s only a matter of time before the Netherlands abandons the old establishment and shifts profoundly to the Right.

Poland: Abolition of EU National Vetoes Too Extreme Even for Tusk

Plans to abolish national vetoes on important issues such as foreign policy and further centralise power in the hands of Eurocrats are proving a step too far even for prospective Polish PM and leader of the liberal opposition Donald Tusk.

MEPs in a vote passed a report Wednesday, November 22nd that, if applied, would strip member states of their power to object to EU foreign policy. One conservative Polish lawmaker has already referred to it as an attempt to engineer a “dystopian superstate” against the wishes of voters.

Equality and Hamas

by Daniel Greenfield

How did we end up with Hamas rallies on college campuses across America? Start with ‘equity’.

America started out with the idea of ‘equality’ that all people should be treated equally so that regardless of where they started out, everyone had the same rights and their lives had the same value. Advocates for ‘equity’ argue that this was unjust because different people were starting out in different places. What they really needed was a level playing field by imposing ‘equity’.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion disposed of equality. Its equity agenda dismissed the idea that people would be treated equally. The only way to achieve equality was through an indefinite period of inequality: raising up some people and pushing down others. Organizations, from the White House to Corporate America, vowed to “embed equity” into everything that they did.

The moral DNA of society was completely rewritten so that everything from freedom of expression to the value of human life had to be weighed in terms of identity politics. Even the most basic moral questions came down to the paradigms of oppressor and oppressed. Right and wrong were determined purely in terms of ‘punching up’ or ‘punching down’.

“Is it wrong to murder, rape and kidnap people?” was a question to which the answer was no longer “yes”, but “were the victims or the killers members of an oppressed group?”

What matters is not so much that Hamas raped, killed and kidnapped kids, but that it appears to be the weaker party in the conflict, the one with backing from leftist figures in good standing, and the one that has the revolutionary vibe that bourgeois radicals love so much.

Siding with Israel or Hamas has become a litmus test for the left of center. It evenly divides liberals from leftists. The dividing line is between human decency and ideology. It’s a familiar moral struggle that played out time and again throughout the twentieth century…

Ex-Israeli Interior Minister Says ‘All 2 Million’ Palestinians Must Leave Gaza, Settle in US & EU

Former Israeli Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked said during a recent Israeli television interview that the nation should “take advantage of the destruction” that has taken place during the war and force “all two million” Gaza residents to leave.

“With God and the IDF’s help, after we turn Khan Younis into a soccer field. I’m sure there will be international pressure at some point after we finish the job to rehabilitate Gaza and to think what needs to be done with Gaza.”

“And then, we need to take advantage of the destruction that we will wreak upon them in order to tell the countries of the world that each one of them should take a quota. It can be 20,000 or 50,000 to say that they too should shoulder the burden in order to allow them to leave… we need all two million of them to leave. In all honesty, that’s the solution for Gaza.”

Putin Tells G20 Leaders it is Necessary to Think About How to Stop ‘Tragedy’ of Ukraine War

Fighting in Ukraine since Russia’s February 2022 invasion has killed or wounded hundreds of thousands and displaced millions more

Russian president Vladimir Putin told the leaders of the G20 on Wednesday that it was necessary to think about how to stop “the tragedy” of the war in Ukraine, some of his most placatory remarks to date about the conflict.

Mr Putin’s decision to send troops into Ukraine in February 2022 triggered Europe’s deadliest conflict since the second World War and the gravest confrontation between Russia and the West since the depths of the Cold War.

Addressing G20 leaders for the first time since the start of the war, the Kremlin chief said some leaders had said in their speeches that they were shocked by the ongoing “aggression” of Russia in Ukraine.

“Yes, of course, military actions are always a tragedy,” Putin told the virtual G20 meeting called by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  1. We do not want 2e6 Palestinians. They should go to moslem countries. Why do moslem countries not take in moslem refuse?
That is where they should go.

    • This is the crux of the matter, I was sickened to read that Scottish gazans(…) and Australian Gazans had been carefully rescued from Gaza and had been sent “home” – that is, back to Scotland and Australia. BTW the First Minister of Scotland, who is pakistani, has a gazan wife and children and you’ll be thrilled to know they are all safely back in Scotland. ///s

  3. Reddit post by ex-Muslims. https://www.reddit.com/r/exmuslim/comments/1826shn/muslim_speakermen_in_manchester_uk/

There’s a short street in Manchester central in the U.K. called Market Street, it’s lined with shops either side. It’s essentially a high street with shops with lots of hustle and bustle.

At the moment they have Christmas Markets and stalls present.

Usually there is one stand blaring Islamic noise with one or two men stood there under a sign that says “Free Islamic Literature”.

Today there were THREE of these stands blaring their Islamic noise located at the beginning of the street, in the middle, and at the end of the street.

The noise was that loud it was drowning out any Christmas music that was being played from the stalls sandwiched between these Islamic stalls.

Manchester is a multicultural city but the majority that shop around there aren’t Muslims as it’s your standard high street.

It made me feel uncomfortable walking up and down this street whilst wanting to shop. It must have made others feel uncomfortable too as soon after I exited a shop I saw the police and a big gang crowding around them (no doubt whatever happened they would’ve portraying themselves as the victim).

  5. [Comment: You know, its statements like that which makes me support Israel less. Dumping their problems on others.]
No, the terrorists are not Israel’s problems in the sense they didn’t create them: uk( of which I am a citizen) is responsible for encouraging and funding these terrorists as are the governments of the US and the EU. And they’ve managed to convince the useful idiots that abide there that it’s ok to fund terrorists to attack a sovereign country. What the uk, us and eu have done is forced this problem of their own creation on the people of the uk/us/eu.
Interesting to see what’s happening in Ireland right now…

  6. The love the sinner thing hate the sin only works if you explain how the act of sinning condemns the soul. Only if the communist pope makes the “transgender” men attending this lunch to dress like men, use men’s names face the fact they are men will progress be made in these men’s lives. Will he try to convince them that a life as as a prostitute will not only led to condemning their souls, but lead to an early death by disease , or drugs, or suicide ,or murder by customers , that it empty and mean less? Or will he use it as a photo op have lunch with them in drag ,give them a hug ,a kiss on the cheek and send them back to the street to ply their “trade” as rent boys. Will he offer them any job training education , drug rehab ,or a way out of a short ,violent , mean less life ?
