Australia’s Strong Inflation Data May Pressure RBA to Hike Rates Further

SYDNEY — Australia’s consumer prices rose by more than expected in the third quarter which may pressure the Reserve Bank of Australia to come off the sidelines and raise interest rates at its meeting next month.

The consumer-price index rose 1.2% on the quarter and 5.4% on the year, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday. The data beat market expectations, with core measures of inflation also coming in higher than economists had expected.

The data comes a day after RBA Gov. Michele Bullock warned that the central bank was prepared to tighten policy settings further if the data showed inflation was gathering renewed momentum.

Japan: Gov’t Floats 40,000 Yen Income Tax Cut to Ease Inflation Pain

The Japanese government is considering an income tax cut of 40,000 yen ($268) per person and cash handouts of 70,000 yen to low-income households as part of temporary inflation-relief measures, sources familiar with the plan said Tuesday.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who places priority on wealth redistribution, has instructed ruling coalition executives to work out details of the economic package that he hopes to formalize on Nov. 2, including how to realize the income tax cut.

Legislation will be required to change the current tax system, making it likely that Japanese households, already reeling from the rising costs of living, will start feeling the benefits around next summer at the earliest.

Consortium News Sues “Misinformation” Arbiter NewsGuard

NewsGuard Technologies Inc., an organization focused on combating “misinformation” in news media, along with the federal government (which has a contract with NewsGuard), is facing legal challenges over alleged defamation and First Amendment breaches, respectively. The plaintiff in the case is the Consortium for Independent Journalists, which initiated the litigation in the Southern District of New York.

Founded in 1995 by the late investigative journalist Robert Parry, Consortium has contributed an impressive 27,000 articles to the journalistic landscape. Yet, amidst this vast collection, NewsGuard has taken issue five articles, the news outlet alleges, and, as a result of this has put a mark next to every news article on the site in its ratings system.

The entirety of CN’s online archive now bears a red mark when viewed through search engines or social media platforms that use the NewsGuard system.

“NewsGuard attaches an electronic ‘label’ to every CN item on search engines and social media that warns NewsGuard subscribers to ‘Proceed with caution’ because Consortium News ‘fails to maintain basic standards of accuracy and accountability,’ the complaint alleges. “Such statements slander and defame Consortium News and are arbitrary, wanton, malicious and reckless.”

“Can you please make a statement about President Joe Biden’s speech? This is a clearly warmongering speech! NYC Can’t Deny Gun Licenses Based on Applicants’ ‘Moral Character,’ Federal Judge Rules

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that New York City’s gun licensing regime, which allows city officials to turn down applicants for firearms based on their “moral character,” violates the Second Amendment.

US District Judge John Cronan struck down the regulations in a 48-page ruling, determining that empowering unelected officials with discretionary authority to refuse gun permits to those “not of good moral character” or for “other good cause” is inconsistent with the country’s “tradition of firearm regulation” — a standard set by the Supreme Court in last year’s New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen case, which overturned the Empire State’s century-old law restricting the carrying of concealed firearms.

Seattle Kicks Off Anti-Drug Push With Dozens of Arrests as Portland Business Owners Beg for Help

Elected officials in Portland and Seattle are beginning to regret turning their cities into crime-ridden hellholes, after their response to Trumpism and the BLM riots in the wake of George Floyd’s death was to defund or otherwise hinder police, elect DAs who refuse to prosecute a variety of crime, and promote rampant drug use.

In Portland, 25 businesses have banded together for a strongly worded letter to elected officials, who they’ve demanded address their concerns over the city’s crime wave that has decimated foot traffic to businesses such as Ace Hotel, Central Office, Crafty Wonderland, Courier Coffee, Mimi’s Fresh Tees and Multnomah Whiskey Library, according to KGW8.

The Supreme Court is Asked to Confirm That Recording Cops Has First Amendment Protections

In a battle for the sanctity of the First Amendment, the Supreme Court is once again being petitioned to affirm that recording police officers while they perform public duties is a constitutional right, one that directly opposes censorship and forges the path for accountability. Despite the digital age having turned everyone into potential citizen journalists, there seems to be an unsavory trend among law enforcement to suppress this fundamental form of free speech. This bitter resistance is especially odd when we consider that police officers themselves have been known to argue that there exists no expectation of privacy in public spaces.

The silence of the Supreme Court on passing a defining ruling on this palpable First Amendment issue has added to the confusion. The judiciary’s failure to address this concern headways until now is concerning as we find ourselves amid a fierce debate on censorship, free speech, and the public’s right to know.

Now, the Supreme Court is being gifted a chance, once again, to set a nationwide precedent that could potentially resolve this dispute.

Wisconsin Republicans Advance Election Reform-Centric Constitutional Amendments

Republicans who control the Wisconsin Legislature have advanced a series of constitutional amendments that would outlaw private funding for elections ahead of the 2024 presidential contest, bar municipalities from allowing non-U.S. citizens to vote in local elections and enshrine existing voter photo ID requirements in the state constitution.

The proposals debated Tuesday at a joint hearing of the Senate and Assembly elections committees stem from false claims made by former President Donald Trump and his supporters that widespread voter fraud tipped the 2020 presidential election in favor of President Joe Biden.

Constitutional amendments must be passed in two consecutive sessions of the state Legislature before being ratified by voters in a statewide election. The governor cannot veto a constitutional amendment.

‘EU Army’ Debuts During Spanish Naval Exercises

The joint exercises lasted from October 16th to 22nd and were led by the Spanish amphibious assault vessel Juan Carlos I. They were welcomed by the head of the EU’s foreign policy wing Josep Borrell, who subsequently emphasised the need to accelerate the creation of an EU army in the face of geopolitical insecurity.

Europe is Suffering From ‘War Psychosis’ in Its Unyielding Military Support for Ukraine, Claims Hungary’s Foreign Minister

Instead of looking for ways to foster peace, the European Union’s current and planned actions only serve to extend the war, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjartó said after a meeting of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council.

“It is all about war, there is no peace. Brussels is still pro-war, as shown by the fact that they would give €5 billion a year for arms over the next four years, which also shows that they expect the war to continue,” Szijjartó said. “No one in Western Europe is talking about peace, Europe is suffering from a war psychosis.”

He added that it is clear there will be no solution to the war on the battlefield. Europeans expect nothing but destruction and death, and the conditions for peace are getting worse.

French Politicians Are Already Using Potential Terror Threats to Call for Mass Facial Recognition Rollout

He not only wishes to see stricter access control in French educational establishments but is also advocating for the widespread implementation of facial recognition software.

ISIS Bride Shamima Begum Launches Appeal Against Removal of UK Citizenship

(AFP) — A woman who left Britain to marry an Islamic State jihadist fighter when she was a teenager began her appeal against the revocation of her citizenship in a UK court Tuesday.

A lawyer for Shamima Begum, 24, told the Court of Appeal in London that the Home Office had failed to consider its legal duties owed to her client as a potential victim of trafficking.

“The appellant’s trafficking was a mandatory, relevant consideration in determining whether it was conducive to the public good and proportionate to deprive her of citizenship, but it was not considered by the Home Office,” Samantha Knights said in a written submission to the court.

Majority of Poles Believe Jaroslaw Kaczynski Should Retire From Politics, Poll Finds

A sizeable majority of Poles believe Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, should step down from his position following the recent election, according to a survey conducted by IBRiS.

Despite being the formal winner of the October parliamentary elections, the Law and Justice (PiS) party is unlikely to maintain its hold on power. The party did not secure enough seats to form an independent government, and even a coalition with the Confederation party would not give them this ability.

Potential New Defense Minister Hints at Mass Layoffs in Polish Army Under Liberal Coalition

Potential new players in the new liberal Polish government have uttered murmurs about possible cost-cutting of its armed forces, it has emerged.

Tomasz Siemoniak, who is vying for the role of defense minister and served in the position during Donald Tusk’s previous administration, claimed that an army of 150,000 troops should be sufficient for a country the size of Poland, with an additional 30,000-40,000 territorial forces and 20,000-30,000 in voluntary military service.

This would be a considerable decrease from the current size of Poland’s military. Today, its army is 187,000 strong with 50,000 in its territorial army reserves and 16,500 in voluntary military service.

UK: Jewish Advocacy Group Demands Apology After ITV News Platforms Pro-Palestine Reporter of Anti-Semitic Iranian News Channel to Denounce Rise in Islamophobia

Britain’s leading Jewish advocacy group has written to the chief executive of ITV News expressing its objections to a recently broadcast interview with a Muslim woman complaining about Islamophobic abuse she has received since the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

Borrell Urges Ceasefire, Von Der Leyen Amplifies Support for Israel

EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell called for faster aid deliveries and a temporary ceasefire in Gaza after meeting the bloc’s also divided foreign ministers on Monday, October 23rd, a day after Commission President Ursula von der Leyen doubled down on supporting Israel in a speech in Germany, despite the public criticism from rebellious EU staffers.

According to Borrell, the dozens of trucks worth of EU humanitarian aid allowed into Gaza by Egypt is “not enough,” and Brussels should also start providing fuel for the electricity and desalination plants inside the Strip.

Furthermore, the official urged both sides to consider an immediate temporary ceasefire as a “humanitarian pause” in the conflict while internal refugees are taken care of and aid is properly distributed.

It’s Islam, Stupid

by Daniel Greenfield

Beslan. Mumbai. Paris. Manchester. New York City. Nairobi. Luxor. Sulu. Kibbutz Be’eri.

186 children murdered in a school in Beslan. Dozens of children taken hostage from a Catholic school in the Philippines. Two teachers were beheaded, but not the girls. “We do not kill women. We will just enslave them,” the Jihadists promised. 8-year-olds gunned down in the Westgate Mall in Nairobi. The terrorists asked their victims to name Mohammed’s mother to tell apart the non-Muslims from the Muslims. In Luxor, Egypt, the terrorists danced, sang and killed and mutilated the foreign tourists. They “took all the young women, the girls, and disappeared with them. I don’t know where they went with the women, but they hurt them. We could hear screams of pain.” Among the dead was Shaunnah Turner, a 5-year-old British girl.

Pregnant women and children murdered in Israel baffle the world. They seem implausible because each time they happen, we forget. A few days of horror pass and we move on.

When a Muslim terrorist set off a bomb in Manchester at a concert full of children and teens, there was shock and outrage. Nails were pulled out of children’s faces.

“This attack stands out for its appalling, sickening cowardice, deliberately targeting innocent, defenceless children and young people,” then Prime Minister Theresa May fumed.

That was 6 years ago. It might have been an eternity…

UN Chief Warns That the Risk of the Gaza War Spreading is Growing as Situation Becomes More Dire

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United Nations chief warned at a high-level U.N. meeting Tuesday that the situation in the Middle East is growing more dire by the hour with the risk of the Gaza war spreading through the region increasing as societies splinter and tensions threaten to boil over.

Kremlin Says Russian Economy Ready to Handle More Sanctions

Sanctions have boosted domestic industrial production, officials say.

Russia’s economy has adapted well to Western sanctions and Moscow does not fear the prospect of more such measures, the Kremlin says.

On February 25, 2022, a day after Russia undertook a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Union introduced wide-ranging sanctions intended to send a clear signal to Moscow that there would be severe consequences for the war.

The bloc has imposed 11 sanctions packages to date and last week said it would work to shut down loopholes in the existing measures. EU officials have suggested the sanctions could remain in place for years.

“Russia has been living under a sanctions regime for quite a long time, for decades, and we have sufficiently adapted to it, so such time horizons as five to 10 years do not scare us,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

Russian Navy Losing Grip on Crimea, Ukraine Says

Moscow discusses deepening ties with Tehran as Ukraine downs Iranian-made aerial drones

Ukraine has said it is loosening Russia’s hold on Crimea and will ultimately liberate the Black Sea peninsula, as Moscow said its forces had destroyed three marine drones launched by Kyiv’s military in an attempted attack on the region’s main port.

Russia’s defence ministry said “three unmanned motorboats of the Ukrainian navy were detected in the northern part of the Black Sea. A missile and bomb attack was carried out on the… boats.” Officials in Crimea said explosions were heard at about 4am local time on Tuesday near the port of Sevastopol, location of the main base of the Black Sea fleet.

Ukraine has stepped up missile and marine-drone attacks on Crimea this year, striking several Russian warships and a submarine and badly damaging the headquarters of the Black Sea fleet in the centre of Sevastopol. Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014.

He called out Washington as “already among the countries intervening the most” since the October 7 Hamas terror attack.

Ukraine Aims to be Europe’s Weapons Factory

Once known as the “breadbasket of Europe,” Ukraine is now eyeing a cooler, and more profitable, title.

In an interview with Politico published on Monday, October 23rd, the Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, argued that Western countries need to ramp up weapons production as close to the frontlines as possible, and that—with the right investors—Ukraine could become the epicenter of Europe’s emerging defense industry.

On Monday, Kamyshin traveled to Berlin along with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to lobby German defense contractors into signing joint ventures in Ukraine. One such partnership—the first of many, Kyiv hopes—between the German Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian Ukroboronprom will be announced later on Tuesday by Chancellor Scholz and OM Shmyhal at the German-Ukrainian Business Forum.

Italy: Budget: 200 MN for Migrant Reception in 2024

(ANSA) — ROME, OCT 24 — The government has allocated 200 million euros to migrant reception in 2024 and 300 million euros in 2025 according to a draft of the 2024 budget bill approved by cabinet last week but only made available on Tuesday.

The funding, which comes on top of additional resources allocated for migrant reception in a recent government decree, will also be used to support local authorities in their reception efforts, including in favour of unaccompanied minors.

So far this year Italy has seen an 81% increase in the arrival by sea of migrants and refugees compared to the same period in 2022.

The rise in numbers has put the national reception system under severe pressure, with the cities, which are responsible for second-level reception projects focusing on integration and inclusion and for special reception facilities for unaccompanied minors, coming under particular strain.

Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdóttir has said that she will join tens of thousands of women walking off the job on Tuesday to protest the widely disputed gender wage gap.

For the seventh time in the history of the country, female Icelanders will take part in the “Kvennafri,” translated into English as “Women’s Day Off”. The strike is intended to protest the supposed inequality faced by women in one of the most egalitarian societies in the world, as well as to protest against the supposed wage gap between men and women.

Joining the tens of thousands of women, Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdóttir of the Left-Green Movement party said that she too would take the day off on Tuesday.

Male Runner Wins Girls’ Cross Country Championship

After failing to rank in boys’ events, a male runner has soared to “victory” after entering a high school girls cross country championship in Maine.

15-year-old Soren Stark-Chessa, a male who claims to be a transgender “female,” destroyed the competition during the event Saturday.

He beat the runner-up, a girl, by nearly a minute and a half.

Study Reveals the Twisted Way Incels View Dating — and Why They Have So Much Less Success

Incels — involuntary celibates — are men who form their identity around their perceived inability to have romantic relationships with women.

They make up a dark and depraved online community of young heterosexual men who blame society and women for their lack of success with intimacy.

Some commentators have suggested that one reason why incels fail in the dating world is because they judge women too highly, and are unrealistic about the caliber of potential partner they will attract.

However, the first official study into incel mating psychology has suggested this is not the case.

Researchers at the University of Texas found that self-confessed incels actually make fewer demands of potential female suitors than men who are not in the group.

Another interesting finding was that incels were more likely to be of shorter height. Studies show that women are more likely to be attracted to taller-than-average men, which could contribute to the feeling of rejection that incels are known to harbor.

UFC Announces Bud Light as Its Official Beer in Partnership With Anheuser-Busch

UFC announced Bud Light will be its official beer as part of a partnership with Anheuser-Busch following months of controversy surrounding the beer brand that erupted earlier this year.

The mixed martial arts organization revealed Tuesday it struck a multiyear deal with the beer giant involving the Bud Light brand having a heavy presence in UFC’s content in its broadcasts and online beginning in 2024.

“Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light were UFC’s original beer sponsors more than fifteen years ago. I’m proud to announce we are back in business together,” UFC CEO Dana White said in a statement Tuesday. “There are many reasons why I chose to go with Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light, most importantly because I feel we are very aligned when it comes to our core values and what the UFC brand stands for. I’m looking forward to all of the incredible things we will do in the years ahead.”

  1. Re: “Alaskan AirPilot was Far Left Tripping…”

Did he land in the Aleutians, or perhaps Hawaii?

  2. “Israel has reportedly agreed to delay a ground invasion of Gaza in order to allow more time for negotiations that might lead to the release of some of the hostages held by Hamas. Meanwhile, former President Barack Hussein Obama criticized the Israeli government for its handling of the war in Gaza.”

History keeps repeating itself and only the names and dates change….BECAUSE only the names and dates change.

“Far too much time, energy and blood has been expended in the Middle east. It’s time to take decisive action. We need to take out the terror regimes in Iran, Iraq and Syria. Then say to the Palestinians: “You have two choices: You can live as civilized citizens or you can be next.”” “Terrorism Isn’t Rocket Science” (2002)

    • I was going to respond to the same news article, as I don’t quite understand what they are doing there. Initially Israel said Gaza will be sealed off to receive no supplies, humanitarian or otherwise, unless and until the hostages are returned. And they seemed to mean it. They already know that any softening leads to the opposite result. Are they going to make matters worse by caving in again?

      • “Are they going to make matters worse by caving in again?”

Only if they’re willing to trade US “support” for [some transitory] safety…..again.

  3. In reference to the article from Sderot – I’m Lutheran and I certainly don’t hate Jews. The position of the Lutheran Church today is that the Jews are God’s chosen people and believers should bless them. Many Christians (myself included) have been helping poverty -stricken Jews in Israel and elsewhere. I at times have my differences with the Lutheran Church, but I don’t feel responsible for what Martin Luther did in the Middle Ages. It ‘s a pity to have that attitude in any time or place

    • Marvelous. This is very convenient…for Jews.
Your words once again confirm the ideas of spiritual colonization of non-Jewish peoples.
As a sympathizer of the ancient philosophers of the Mediterranean, as well as Indo-European pagans, I affirm: All life is sacred!
But the Abrahamists (Jews and Muslims) think that their lives are more important.

        • Why? Why Jews, and not, for example, the Romans or the French? Give REAL arguments, and not the inventions of the Semitic tribe about their so-called “chosenness of God.”

          • Because Almighty God claimed them as HIS Chosen People.
If there are Jews living Rome or France they ARE part of HIS Chosen People.

My words are from the Holy Bible, AV1611 the best translation of all.

And the HOLY Bible is based on FACTS.

Arguments are silly and prove nothing. Furthermore this was was not an invention of anyone.

    • “Obama is Muslim”

President Affirmative Action’s also a virulent anti-American commie-toddler (Sowell refers to him as “America’s first affirmative action president”, which I paraphrased into “President Affirmative Action” for brevity’s sake).
