Japanese Panic Buy Gold as Yen Implodes, Inflation Soars

A gold-buying frenzy in hyperinflating banana-republic basket cases such as Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Argentina or Turkey makes sense; one can also imagine Indians and Chinese liquidating rushing to buy the precious metal, as they periodically do (for other, not less relevant, reasons). But Japan?

That’s right: the otherwise quiet (and rapidly aging) population of Japan has found a new infatuation with gold, and it has the relentless money-printing juggernaut that is the BOJ to thank for it.

As the FT reports, the price of gold in Japan (denominated in that joke of a currency, the Japanese lira yen) has jumped to an all-time high as the yen extends its historic slide against the US dollar, vaporizing the purchasing power of residents and forcing cash-rich households to find a hedge against ubiquitous inflation.

Gaetz and other Republicans have slammed McCarthy for dragging his feet on a Biden impeachment inquiry, which the Speaker finally announced earlier in the week. Gaetz, however, says this isn’t enough.

Biden’s Gaffetastic Week — More Than a Dozen Lies and Bumbles

Rare is the day that President Biden doesn’t tell a lie or garble a sentence, but even by his standards, this week was a mess — featuring ramblings in Vietnam, fibs about where he was around 9/11, claims he taught Ivy Leaguers political theory, and more.

The horror show kicked off in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Sunday when the 80-year-old commander-in-chief began a press conference by forgetting that a classic Robin Williams film was, you know, a film.

“Those record profits have not been shared fairly, in my view, with those workers.”

Court Orders Facebook to Comply With Subpoena for Data on All Users That Broke “COVID-19 Misinformation” Rules

The District of Columbia (DC) Court of Appeals has rejected Meta’s appeal to quash a sweeping subpoena that demanded it hand over “documents sufficient to identify all Facebook groups, pages, and accounts that have violated Facebook’s COVID-19 misinformation policy with respect to content concerning vaccines” to the DC government.

Millions of users, many of whom made truthful statements that challenged the government’s Covid narrative, are likely to be swept up in this government data grab due to the scope of Facebook’s “Covid-19 misinformation” rules and the number of users that were impacted by them.

Facebook’s Covid-19 misinformation rules prohibited many truthful statements during the pandemic. For example, at one point claiming that “vaccines are not effective at preventing the disease they are meant to protect against” was banned — an assertion that health officials have now reluctantly admitted is true.

DeSantis Checkmates Chicago Mayor, Offers Illinois Cops $5,000 to ‘Make Smart Move to Florida’

Johnson, if left alone, will ruin what is left of Chicago.

The city refuses to allow police to chase violent thugs, even when they see them committing an armed carjacking, and the cops have had it.

Jury Clears 3 Men in the Last Trial Tied to the Plot to Kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

A jury acquitted three men Friday in the last trial connected to a plan to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a scheme that was portrayed as an example of homegrown terrorism on the eve of the 2020 presidential election.

William Null, twin brother Michael Null and Eric Molitor were found not guilty of providing support for a terrorist act and a weapon charge. They were the last of 14 men to face charges in state or federal court. Nine were convicted and now five have been cleared.

The Nulls and Molitor were accused of supporting leaders of the plan by participating in military-style drills and traveling to see Whitmer’s vacation home in northern Michigan. The key players, Adam Fox and Barry Croft Jr., were convicted of a kidnapping conspiracy last year in a different court.

Just the Tip: AP Gave Dem Porn-Wife Heads-Up Before WaPo Scoop, Allowing Her to Delete Videos

Democratic Virginia political candidate Susanna Gibson, who was outed by the Washington Post for performing sex acts online for cash — and instead of owning up to it cried ‘sex crime!’, was actually tipped off a week earlier by the Associated Press, which didn’t run the story — allowing her to delete videos before the WaPo piece hit, according to the Daily Wire’s Luke Rosiak.

Gibson, a 40-year-old nurse practitioner and mother of two, streamed various sex acts on ‘Chaturbate,’ where more than a dozen videos of she and her husband were archived on a publicly available site, Recurbate, in September 2022 after she entered the race. The most recent were two videos archived Sept. 30, 2022, however it’s unclear when the live stream occurred.

Rosiak also reports that Gibson’s online sex acts could have exposed her to prostitution charges, lawyers say.

Senate Ditches Dress Code as Fetterman and Others Choose Casual Clothes

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says staff for the chamber’s Sergeant-at-Arms will no longer enforce a dress code on the Senate floor

WASHINGTON D.C., DC — The stuffy Senate is now a bit less formal.

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday that staff for the chamber’s Sergeant-at-Arms — the Senate’s official clothes police — will no longer enforce a dress code on the Senate floor. The change comes after Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman has been unapologetically wearing shorts as he goes about his duties, voting from doorways so he doesn’t get in trouble for his more casual attire.

“There has been an informal dress code that was enforced,” Schumer said in a statement. “Senators are able to choose what they wear on the Senate floor. I will continue to wear a suit.”

Schumer did not mention Fetterman in his statement about the dress code, which will only apply to senators, not staff.

Senator Mazie Hirono Claims Saying FEMA “Cannot be Trusted” is “Disinformation”, Calls for Controls of Disinfo Spread

Democratic Senator Mazie Hirono this week addressed the Senate Judiciary Committee over the purported misuse of AI tech to spread what she called false narratives, especially during crisis events. The Senator, who has previously criticized AI memes for being allowed to be shared online, zeroed in on the noted perversion of tech during the Maui wildfires, highlighting a critical concern about AI’s potential to fuel false information in the aftermath of future tragedies.

Of AI, Senator Hirono stated, “It is a powerful tool that can be used for good, but it can also be used to spread a lot of disinformation and misinformation, and that happened during the disaster on Maui.” She drew attention to the possibility that AI could facilitate the amplification of disinformation, a hazard linked to foreign entities keen to undermine the trust in federal agencies.

Senator Hirono suggested that criticism of FEMA being shared online was due to a disinformation campaign.

UN Human Rights Chief Criticizes Elon Musk for Pushing Back Against ADL Censorship Demands

The UN human rights chief Volker Turk rallied against criticism of attempts by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to suppress online speech, particularly on X.

Turk took the bull by the horns in his fervent appeal on Wednesday, levelling sharp criticism at tech tycoon, Elon Musk, who has rebranded Twitter as X, demanding a stauncher response to rampaging so-called “hate speech.”

Turk expressed concern over the criticism leveled against the ADL after the group campaigned for advertisers to pause spending on the platform.

Turk alluded to Musk’s criticism of the ADL’s tactics without explicitly dropping names, although it was clear he placed Musk’s platform X near the heart of his grievance.

Musk, who has painted the ADL in a harsh light, accusing it of pushing baseless claims which have frightened advertisers and inflicted financial damage, is currently in the eye of the media.

WashPo: Netanyahu Flying to Silicon Valley to Meet With Elon Musk and Discuss ‘Anti-Semitism on X’

In the wake of the #BanTheADL movement catching fire on Twitter/X, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly planning to fly to Silicon Valley to personally meet with X owner Elon Musk and discuss “anti-Semitism” on his social media platform.

From The Washington Post, “Musk expected to meet with Netanyahu as antisemitism controversy rages”:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to fly to the heart of Silicon Valley on Monday to meet with X owner Elon Musk in an effort to help ease an escalating crisis over antisemitism on the struggling social media platform.

The meeting is the latest step in a campaign by Musk’s Jewish friends and allies, and executives of his social media company, to stave off the mounting controversy, according to five people familiar with the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share behind-the-scenes conversations.

This summer, Netanyahu smoothed things over in a conversation with Musk after the X owner repeated antisemitic tropes about Jewish financier George Soros. Netanyahu’s government minister tasked with fighting antisemitism made of point of saying that Musk’s comments were not antisemitic, despite widespread outcry in Israel.

Soros is just a little “financier” and the ADL is just a little “nonprofit in New York.

Construction of the fence on the eastern border began in the spring. Initially, it was assumed that the first test section of the barrier would be ready by the end of June. The delay was caused by difficulties at the construction stage, as well as time-consuming installations of the monitoring system.

Several hundred meters of the test section are also located in the area of the local military barracks, where surveillance techniques are being tested.

No Deal: Talks Between Kosovo and Serbia Hit Impasse

Under the auspices of EU foreign chief Josep Borrell, the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia met for what turned out to be a fruitless attempt at reconciliation in Brussels on Thursday, September 14th.

Kosovo—home to a considerable minority of ethnic Serbs, primarily in its northern region—unilaterally declared independence in 2008, a state of affairs Serbia deems unacceptable. The two entities’ relationship has been strained ever since.

The meeting between Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was their first face-to-face encounter under the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina dialogue process since last May’s violent clashes between ethnic Serbs and NATO peacekeepers in North Kosovo. The talks are the latest attempt to calm down relations between the two rival nations.

John Steinbeck and the Fall and Rise of Israel’s ‘Mount Hope’

by Daniel Greenfield

In 1966, a year before the war that would fundamentally change the country and the region, John Steinbeck arrived.

“I want to see everything in Israel,” he told the press.

Outraged novels of class warfare like ‘Grapes of Wrath’ had once made the author a favorite of the leftist establishment, but Steinbeck had turned to other topics. He considered his life’s work to be ‘East of Eden’, a retelling of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel in California, which touched on his own dark family history that he had followed all the way back to Israel.

Steinbeck’s support for the Vietnam War had infuriated the literary establishment and even though he had won the Nobel Prize and his acceptance speech became one of the most famous of its kind, he continued to be dismissed as an outdated fossil. And the author, prone to an old school literary machismo, who never much liked parties and crowds, dismissed them.

After facing the establishment’s fury over the Vietnam War, Steinbeck was not worried about the leftist reaction to his visit to Israel. And he looked at Israel through the lens of a writer who had chronicled pioneers and messianists, but also a man who had come to see the world caught in a struggle between good and evil, the forces of democracy against those of Communism…

Progress! Ukraine Say They’ve Reclaimed a Village From Russia

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s forces have recaptured a village in the country’s east after intense battles with Russian troops, the military said Friday as the invaded nation pursues a multi-pronged counteroffensive.

The village of Andriivka is located about 10 kilometers (6 miles) south of the Russian-occupied city of Bakhmut, the scene of the longest battle of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Its liberation would represent another gain for Kyiv in Ukraine’s campaign to oust Moscow’s troops from territory they captured.

Ukrainian Draft-Dodging Scandal Continues With New Arrests as Citizens Attempt to Flee Service

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has reported that another ring of people engaged in helping people to evade the draft and leave the country has been identified and broken up. With Ukraine short on manpower at the front, it is racing to fill its ranks.

The last set of people detained were connected with the port in Izmail, in the Odessa region. Bribes were elicited from men of service age who wanted to leave the country. They were provided with papers claiming they were navigators on cargo ships, costing between $700 and $1,200.

Those detained are accused of taking a total of $55,000 in such payments. They were allegedly caught in the act, arrested and could face jail sentences of up to 10 years.

Is That a Spy in Your Car?

You know what the Chinese government does really well? Spy.

Last year, a human rights group reported that the Chinese government had set up 100 secret “police stations”—seven of them in the U.S.—to spy on Chinese nationals. At the recently concluded G20 summit in New Delhi, the Chinese delegation refused to put some strangely shaped luggage through the hotel scanner. A hotel employee later reported that he saw “suspicious equipment” in one of the open suitcases. And just a few weeks ago, The Wall Street Journal reported that Chinese nationals, posing as tourists, have made some 100 attempts to gain access to U.S. military bases in recent years—including into a missile range in New Mexico. Chinese scuba divers have also been spotted swimming near a rocket launch site in Florida. Military investigators call them “gate-crashers.”

There is a second kind of spying that relies on technology instead of people. Earlier this year, a Chinese surveillance balloon was sighted traveling across the United States. Huawei, the giant Chinese telecommunications company that has close ties to the military, has long been suspected of creating a “backdoor” in its routers and other equipment, allowing it to scoop up information from U.S. users that can be sent back to China. In 2020, the U.S. Justice Department charged Huawei with conspiracy to steal trade secrets. (Huawei has denied that its equipment has been used to spy on the West.) And of course there’s TikTok, which is owned by a Chinese company, and which many U.S. officials are convinced is used to collect data on Americans.

Now comes the latest threat—a technology, soon to be ubiquitous, called LIDAR.

$12B NYC Migrant Crisis Relied on Almost Every City Agency to Help — Even Making the Arts Distribute Clothes: Report

The $12 billion migrant crisis has touched nearly every facet of municipal government over the past year — with the city even tapping the arts to pitch in, City Hall’s annual report card shows.

As officials raced to respond to the thousands of unexpected waves of arrivals who had to rely on the Big Apple for housing and other services, the shelter costs were into the stratosphere and led to a surge in applications for the Big Apple’s municipal IDNYC cards, according to the sprawling 520-page report, released late Friday.

The city was so desperate for help that it even enlisted the arm of the mayor’s Materials for the Arts office, which is dedicated to financing museums and other institutions, to distribute clothes at shelters, according to the report that summarized the city’s services during fiscal 2023.

Feds Prevented Over 160 People on Terror Watchlist From Crossing US Borders Illegally — Highest Total Ever Recorded: DHS

Federal law enforcement stopped 160 people listed on the terror watch list from entering the US illegally at America’s borders this fiscal year — the highest number ever — government statistics reveal.

The worrying number is a huge increase on the 98 of potentially dangerous assailants nabbed last year as thousands of people continue to flood into the country both legally and illegally, often with little to show by way of identifying papers.

The names and identities of those on the list is a closely guarded secret as revealing them could cause diplomatic incidents with rogue states, tip off terrorists and cartels about US border strategy or invite retribution thus posing a grave threat to national security, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

While the primary points of departure for those making the dangerous journey across the Central Mediterranean were Tunisia and Libya, most migrants come from Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, and Guinea, Frontex wrote.

At the conference “Health and Democracy under WHO’s proposed rules” at the EU Parliament in Strasbourg, Dr. Peter McCullough spoke more sharply than he has ever been heard before. In the beginning of his speech, he mentions the main guilty institutions, above all the WHO, which works for the pharmaceutical industry and has prevented all true knowledge about the “pandemic” from getting out. Then the UN; WEF, Gates and Rockefeller Foundation, CDC, The Department of State and EMA in Europe. Dr. McCullough’s 17 minute testimony to the EU Parliament yesterday – brilliant and tragic.

It is from the same conference the speech by Dr. David E Martin in the post below. It’s one of the very best. Dutch MEP Rob Roos speaks about the EU Digital Services Act, which Lars Hedegaard has written about here.

“A criminal cartel is killing you”

    https://www.snaphanen.dk/2023/09/16/david-martin-et-kriminelt-kartel-myrder-jer/

NB, watch the first video from the above DK page.

    text
“WHO should not be weakened, it should be dissolved”

A great speech from a conference in the EU Parliament the day before yesterday. (There will be more in the next post.) David Martin has gone on the offensive against the main culprits, the actual people behind the mass murder of mainly Western populations. He has taken off the gloves and done what every citizen should do. Go on the offensive against criminals who want to kill them. That may come when the scale of the crime is realized by a majority, but it’s hard that so many will die and be disabled before then.

Due to statistical fraud, we don’t know how many have died so far. The conservative estimate is 700,000 in the US and somewhat more in the EU, a little over a million. However, I saw these numbers today: Experts estimate over 20 million are already Dead due to COVID-19 vaccination & over 2 billion are Severely Injured. If this is anywhere near the truth, the guilty must be dragged to the trough by the population before some will admit guilt, because a crime cannot get any more serious.

Below, Lars Bern summarizes David Martin and the entire vaccine crime. “The vaccine is a biological weapon, it has been in preparation since the 60s. There is a hidden agenda and it is probably to reduce the world’s population. The entire healthcare system, government and media have deceived us.” Pfizer should replace the injured financially.

In the first 25 minutes, Lars Bern says what every newbie needs to know, and Bern is a man you can trust. (It’s to his credit that I didn’t get vaccinated when he said at the beginning: “Wait, wait, wait, let’s see what this is.”)

All those in denial, or simply kept in the dark by the media, don’t need to hear anything else about the shots and the politics behind them to be up to date. You could probably live without knowing that Pfizer’s boss, Albert Bourla, has a $200 million annual salary – plus bonus, as he also tells us. But as cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra says, Pfizer should compensate the injured financially. They have never made as much money as they do now, but their wealth has been created on top of unimaginable tragedies for many people.

Undertaker John O’Looney: “They’re doing everything they can to kill you”
Nurse: “When the people realize what we have done to them, they will stone us to death.” – The detention camp the undertaker is referring to is HMP Five Wells, which opened in 2020. It was built in just 45 weeks.

    • Many insightful people believe that every doctor who promoted the vaxxx should go to jail.

Now that there are several years of accumulated experience of the globalist agenda and its covid scam etc, no doctor can any longer claim to be in good faith when they join the covid narrative and perhaps even injection-murder small children themselves.

Nevertheless, the Globalists are currently in the process of restarting a new covid pandemic. More or less unchallenged by the cowards in the medical profession.

  2. Time for Thomas Dolby to reprise his old hit (“One of Our Submarines”). I realise it’s a stealthy aircraft, but if DoD can’t track its own aircraft over CONUS, how can they credibly call themselves the Department of Defence?

  3. Residents in the small town of Hamtramck, Michigan, including the woke especially, will be finding a hard truth; in Islam – only Islam matters.

  4. Baron, I have begun to wonder if all the phone/internet downtime in “your area” is malice rather than incompetence. Nothing like that in my area.

    • The outage included my immediate neighborhood — at least a dozen homes. It seems unlikely that the PTB would go to that much trouble to create what is essentially just a minor annoyance. It would be far simpler and more straightforward just to get the hosting service to cancel me, or delete me from the DNS system (which has happened to other sites).

No, it’s far more likely that the landline infrastructure is simply deteriorating, and it’s not cost-effective for the phone company to maintain it properly. All the action has now moved to the cell phone industry, which is where the real profits are being made.

I’ve heard from a friend in the DC area that the phone company that serves his condominium complex no longer repairs the buried trunk lines for the legacy phone system. When water gets through the casing surrounding the cable and corrodes the wires, the phone lines quit working. The company informed him that he would have to get a cell phone; there was nothing else he could do.

Out here there is no cell service, so I presume that there is a state regulation that requires phone companies to maintain the landlines, because there are a lot of poor and retired people who depend on phone service. I also assume that when full coverage comes to the area, I will eventually lose the landline option, and be assimilated by the Borg, like my friend in NoVa.

        Just fyi…
Last year, Verizon replaced my 40 year-old copper-paired land-line with optical fiber. In those 40 years, I’ve lost dial tone twice. In both cases the cause was a telephone tech who’d mistakenly disconnected my pairs during unrelated work.

Copper-paired land-lines’re powered by the phone company, which used to be mandated to maintain backup power for at least 30 days. Over the past 40 years, I’ve experienced three week-long power outages, where I sat in the cold/hot dark. The ONLY bright light was my phone, whose dial pad lit up every time I picked-up the handset (to make or receive a call). That land-line was a life-line!

Optical fiber’s powered locally. So when the local mains power goes out, so does the phone. To counter this, for an additional fee, Verizon will install a bank of 12 D-cells that (they say) will keep the phone alive for “up to 24 hours” should the local mains power go out. Last month, the local mains power went out for 48 hours. Verizon’s D-cells gave up the ghost in < 20 hours. The mains power came back on just before the cell phone's battery gave up its ghost.

Moral: Beats me. But come the apocalypse, I'm sure gonna miss those copper-pairs when the lights go out.

  5. Ah, but if they simply canceled you, you’d know you had been attacked. This way, they have plausible deniability. And so far, you are buying it. 🙂

    I know, going paranoid… what else is new… 🙁
