Age of Rage: UChicago Report Finds 30 Million American View Violence as Justified to Keep Trump From Power

Authored by Jonathan Turley

I recently asked, in light of the free speech implications of the second federal Trump indictment, when the price is too high for those who seek to jail the former president.

The chilling answer is found in a new report out of the University of Chicago showing that almost 12 percent of the population, representing 30 million people, believe that violence is warranted to prevent Trump from assuming the presidency. That is almost double the number who believe that violence is warranted to ensure that Trump does become president.

Arkansas the Latest State to Remove Controversial AP African American Studies Course From Schools

The Arkansas Department of Education revoked an AP African-American studies pilot program for the 2023-24 school year after it was tested in a few schools the previous school year.

According to the Arkansas Department of Education, there was no exam offered to students during the 2022-2023 school year, and that the course “may not articulate into college credit.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Henning further elaborated how they can’t approve of the pilot because it would put state educators at risk of violating state law.

Breaking: Sam Bankman-Fried Charged With Using Over $100 Million in Customer Funds to Donate to Democrat Campaigns

On Monday, prosecutors charged disgraced former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried with seven counts of fraud and money laundering, alleging he had stolen over $100 million in customer funds to make contributions to political campaigns.

Bankman-Fried was originally indicted for conspiracy to make unlawful campaign contributions in 2022, however, prosecutors dropped that charge in order to ensure the Bahamas allowed for his extradition back to the United States. The superseding indictment stays true to that agreement, and does not include that charge.

According to Reuters, the US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan filed a superseding indictment on Monday evening, accusing him of directing other FTX executives to make donations in order to evade contribution limits to push for crypto-friendly regulations.

Conspiracy Theories Swirl Over Devastating Maui Fires as Media Blames Climate Change

Social media is abuzz with conspiracy theories and questions surrounding the Maui wildfires that have killed at least 67 people.

Despite the fact the cause of the wildfires has not yet been determined, media outlets like Newsweek and AFP have insisted the fires were NOT intentionally started by direct energy weapons.

This of course has only fueled more rumors online.

Cruz: It’s Time for Biden Impeachment Inquiries

GOP Senator Ted Cruz called Sunday for impeachment inquiries against Joe Biden to begin, noting that the special council appointment of U.S. attorney David Weiss is a “cover up”.

“I think it’s disgraceful,” Cruz told Fox News, adding “David Weiss was the U.S. attorney handpicked to lead this investigation who spent the last five years covering it up.”

“David Weiss, who was personally selected by the two Democrat senators from Delaware, Tom Carper and Chris Coons, for five years, the investigation has gone nowhere, other than to protect Hunter Biden and Joe Biden,” Cruz further asserted.

“Not only that, David Weiss is the one that is subject to two whistle-blower complaints from senior career IRS officials who came forward,” the Senator continued.

Daytona Beach Woman Stabbed Roommate to Death & Dumped Mountain Dew on Herself in Effort to Remove DNA

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WESH) — A Daytona Beach woman is accused of killing her roommate and trying to hide possible evidence by pouring Mountain Dew soda all over her body.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Nichole Maks is charged with first-degree premeditated murder.

According to an affidavit, an officer was flagged down on July 1 due to a fire at 622 Clark Street in Daytona Beach. A victim was found inside the home with multiple stab wounds to his torso and blunt-force trauma to the back of his head.

The victim was identified as 79-year-old Michael Cerasoli.

Inside the victim’s bedroom, detectives found a knife covered in blood near the victim’s body. Police say there were two cell phones inside the victim’s bedroom: one belonging to the victim and one belonging to Maks.

The victim’s landlord told police that Maks lives at the Clark Street residence with the victim.

Early the next morning, officers found Maks in Holly Hill. Police say when they made contact with her, she dropped a knife and a hammer. Police say she had blood on her leg.

According to detectives, Maks changed her story multiple times while being interviewed about Cerasoli’s death. She stated she was homeless but eventually admitted that she lives with the victim.

She told officers the victim’s bedroom is upstairs and she never goes upstairs except to “feed her spiders.”

When detectives questioned her about the knife and hammer, police said she became agitated and refused to continue cooperating without a lawyer.

When Maks was told officers were going to take her DNA, she requested a drink and was provided a Diet Mountain Dew.

Police say Maks poured the soda all over her body and hair “in attempt to interfere with the possible evidence on [her body],” an affidavit reads.

East Village Resident Stabbed 40 to 50 Times, Killed in ‘Unprovoked Attack, Prosecutor Says

Maxwell Logan, 25, faces charges including murder in the death of 38-year-old Andrew Phillip Holland

SAN DIEGO — A 38-year-old East Village resident was in his kitchen last week, looking through his mail when a stranger showed up, a prosecutor said Monday.

The stranger walked into the apartment — the front door had been propped open with a fan — and stabbed Andrew Phillip Holland 40 to 50 times “in an unprovoked, callous rage,” Deputy District Attorney Miriam Hurtado told a judge in San Diego Superior Court.

Holland was stabbed in his head and torso, and died at the scene.

The details about the attack were revealed during an arraignment for the accused assailant, Maxwell Logan, 25, who pleaded not guilty to felony charges including murder and an allegation he used a knife in Holland’s death.

Logan also faces a count of false imprisonment. Prosecutors say he locked his girlfriend in a bedroom in their apartment the same night as the stabbing, and threatened her and her pets.

If convicted, Logan could face 38 years to life in prison. He was ordered to remain held in county jail on a no-bail status.

Defense attorney Robert Hartmann, who represents Logan, said the charges are “merely allegations.”

“We will wait for the truth to come out,” Hartmann said after the hearing.

The attack happened Wednesday at the Market Street Village Apartments on 14th Street near G Street. According to police and prosecutors, Holland’s roommate found him mortally wounded and called 911 about 10:50 p.m.

A blood trail led to Logan’s apartment on another floor in the building, the prosecutor said.

As police investigated that night, Logan’s girlfriend threw notes to officers on the street below, asking for help from the bedroom where she was locked inside. The woman was not injured.

When officers checked on her, they found Logan with blood on him and minor injuries “consistent with being in some type of confrontation,” San Diego police Lt. Steve Shebloski said.

FBI Agent Says Biden Transition Team, Secret Service Were Tipped Off on 2020 Plans to Interview Hunter Biden

EXCLUSIVE: An FBI supervisory special agent told congressional investigators that the Biden transition team and Secret Service headquarters were tipped off in December 2020 about a planned interview of Hunter Biden — a tip-off that resulted in the interview of then-President-elect Biden’s son not taking place at all, even while he was labeled the target of the yearslong federal investigation.

The agent, who worked for the FBI for more than two decades and retired from the bureau last year, participated in a transcribed interview under oath behind closed doors with the House Oversight Committee last month.

Florida Man Allegedly Made Sexual Remarks to Victim at Bus Stop, Then Stabbed Her: Police

Police say Richard Jin tried stabbing the victim’s neck

A suspect was arrested for allegedly making lewd remarks to a woman and then stabbing her at a bus stop, Miami police say.

Miami Beach resident Richard Jin, 34, was charged with second-degree felony attempted murder, third-degree robbery by sudden snatching and third-degree criminal mischief.

The incident took place at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday while the victim and a witness were waiting at a bus stop on Biscayne Boulevard.

In a police report obtained by Fox News Digital, a witness told police that she and the victim were waiting for the bus when they were approached by the suspect. Jin allegedly made lewd remarks that were later redacted by the police.

When the victim began recording Jin’s behavior, he allegedly grabbed her cellphone and threw it on the street, shattering its screen.

“The victim ran after her phone; to which the defendant responded by chasing her and tackling her to the ground,” the police report read.

The suspect then procured a large knife and stabbed the victim multiple times, according to the witness.

Georgia Grand Jury Delivers Indictment Hours After Court Claims Trump RICO Document “Fictitious”

Update (2033ET): A grand jury in Atlanta handed in an indictment late Monday related to a Georgia prosecutor’s investigation into former President Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

The details were not immediately clear, but we know what’s coming.

Update (1830ET): Attorneys for Donald Trump on Monday criticized the Georgia Fulton County District Attorney’s Office over a report that a document listing criminal charges against the former president was briefly posted earlier in the day, then abruptly taken down.

“The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has once again shown that they have no respect for the integrity of the grand jury process,” attorneys Drew Findling and Jennifer Little said in a statement issued by the Trump campaign.

“This was not a simple administrative mistake,” the attorneys added.

“A proposed indictment should only be in the hands of the District Attorney’s Office, yet it somehow made its way to the clerk’s office and was assigned a case number and a judge before the grand jury even deliberated. This is emblematic of the pervasive and glaring constitutional violations which have plagued this case from its very inception.”

Harvard professor Avi Loeb predicted that the scientific discovery of an alien civilization — one that may potentially be billions of years old — will prompt humanity to unify. Loeb, a trained physicist who received his PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at the age of 24, said it was “arrogant of us to think that we are alone, that we don’t have a neighbor out there.”

“There are tens of billions of planets in the Milky Way galaxy alone and hundreds of billions of galaxies like the Milky Way in the observable volume of the universe,” he said.

Maui Wildfires Now Deadliest US Blaze in 100 Years; Only 3% of Area Searched

Hawaii officials confirmed the death toll has climbed to 96 following the catastrophic wildfire that swept across a resort town on the island of Maui last week, making it the deadliest US wildfire in a century.

“Maui Police Department around 9 p.m. said there are 96 confirmed fatalities,” the Maui County local government wrote in an update Sunday night. This is an uptick from the previous count of 93, and with cadaver dogs searching devastated neighborhoods, the number is likely going to move higher.

At 96, the Maui fire surpassed the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California, which killed 85 but remained under the 1918 Cloquet fire in Minnesota and Wisconsin, which claimed at least 453 lives.

children’s health, well-being, and life chances were trashed by a pandemic response which failed to consider them. Their exclusion from [the COVID inquiry] stands to void [its] findings and emphasises the need for wholesale reform to the way we legislate and protect children in politics (or fail to).

Economic Strains and Social Concerns: Czech Republic’s Declining Life Contentment Revealed in EY Study

A significant decline in life satisfaction has been observed among the Czech population, even among those with monthly earnings of up to 50,000 crowns, as revealed in the “Connected Citizens” study by EY.

Since 2020, there’s been a marked decline in the quality of life contentment across various income groups, with those earning between 30,000-40,000 crowns experiencing the most substantial dip. This indicates increasing economic strains on the middle class, who traditionally enjoy a stable standard of living. Such a trend suggests a widening gap of individuals vulnerable to poverty, possibly leading to more pressure on the social welfare system.

In the pre-pandemic era of 2020, a commendable 69% of Czechs were content with their life quality. However, by late 2022, this percentage shrank to just 54%.

Germany: AfD Bavaria Chief Beaten Up in Organised Migrant Attack

The chairman of the AfD in the Bavarian district of Augsburg and candidate for state legislature is nursing severe wounds after being set upon in what he describes as a politically motivated attack by migrants.

Andreas Jurca was returning home with a party colleague Sunday when he was approached by a group of foreign males who asked him if he was the AfD candidate featured on nearby posters. Before he could answer, Jurca was punched and kicked to the ground with shouts of “f*****g Nazi.” His party colleague was also assaulted.

After the altercation, Jurca, who is seventh on the AfD’s candidate list for state elections, was rushed to the hospital where his condition was referred to as stable Monday morning. In a post-attack statement, Jurca confirmed that the perpetrators of the attack were indeed of foreign origin. In his own words, “I don’t mean Spaniards or Italians.”

Germany Purchases Dozens of Decommissioned Leopard 1 Tanks for Ukraine

German defense contractor Rheinmetall has bought 49 second-hand Leopard-1 tanks from a Belgian arms dealer for use in Ukraine, a company spokesman said last week.

A spokesman for the German government said the tanks would be part of a military aid package announced by Defense Minister Oscar Pistorius at last month’s NATO summit in Lithuania. Freddy Versluys, CEO of the private defense company OIP Land Systems, announced the sale of the tanks on Tuesday, telling several media outlets that they were bought by an unnamed European state for an undisclosed price. The Belgian government had negotiated with Versluys earlier this year to buy the Leopards, but ultimately refused to pay the €500,000 per tank that was being asked for.

Germany: Train Stations Are Becoming No-Go Areas; Violence and Sexual Offenses on the Rise

Significantly more violence, theft and sexual offenses: The situation in German train stations is getting worse. The Federal Police sounds the alarm. The high proportion of foreigners among the suspects is particularly striking.

The number of acts of violence at German train stations has increased significantly in the past year. The Federal Police registered a total of 17,099 violent crimes. That is almost 29 percent more than in the pre-Corona year 2019, reports the Bild newspaper. Compared to 2021, when there were fewer passengers due to the pandemic, the number of violent crimes increased by almost 40 percent.

Compared to 2019, the number of sex offenses in particular increased last year. Here, the security authorities registered an increase of 43 percent to around 1,700 cases. The number of physical injuries rose by 22 percent to more than 14,000 cases. Pickpocketing (plus twelve percent), attacks on police officers (plus 26 percent), robbery (plus 31 percent) and knife attacks (plus 45 percent) have also increased. The number of threats also increased by 120 percent to almost 6,000 cases.

Almost half of the suspects are foreigners

Jihad in Austria: ‘Christians Must Die’

Two young Muslims living in Austria recently confessed that they would like to “kill Christians” and “restore the caliphate.”

The boys, aged 15 and 16, were put on trial at the Leoben Regional Court on July 16, 2023. They had made plans to massacre as many people as possible during an attack on the middle school attended by the 15-year-old, in Bruck an der Mur, where they both lived.

When confronted in court, the boys — who both have a history of violence and criminality— admitted that “We wanted to shoot all the Christians in the class!” Asked how they would have responded if police had intervened, they said, “We would have surrendered” — adding that “Allah would have forgiven” them in prison, since “Killing Christians takes us to paradise.”

Ministry of Truth: Owen Thompson, Scottish MP, Calls for a UK “Truth Tsar” That Cracks Down on Social Media Platforms

Again with the “disinformation tsars” — as if the attempt in the US to establish such a thing in the shape of the failed Disinformation Governance Board has taught them nothing, now politicians in the UK want to try their hand at it.

Leading the charge is Scottish MP Owen Thompson, who is on the parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC). And truthfully, where better to try to set up a “Ministry of Truth” than in the UK. The idea, after all, originated there — albeit in a work of fiction.

Some will say that claims the disinformation allegedly disseminated by the country’s own MPS is as big a threat to national security as Russia is also a work of fiction — but others, particularly in the obliging media, will no doubt dutifully agree.

Poland Unveils Final Referendum Question

The fourth and final question of the Polish referendum, to be held together with the upcoming parliamentary elections this fall, would ask voters whether to keep in place the border protection infrastructure erected on the country’s eastern frontier with Belarus since early 2022, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced on Monday, August 14th.

“The most important issues, those that concern security, should be decided by citizens. Poland could become Putin’s next target, and our security is under real threat,” Blaszczak stated in the video posted on the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party’s social media. “That’s why we are consistently strengthening the Polish Army and building a barrier on the border with Belarus and Russia.”

According to the announcement, the fourth question of the referendum will be “Do you support the removal of the barrier on the border of the Republic of Poland with the Republic of Belarus?” After the fashion of the other three questions, the conservative government expects the majority to vote “No” and thus strengthen the legitimacy of the border fence.

Soros Group Warns Hungary NGOs of ‘Extremely Limited’ Resources for Europe

BUDAPEST — Open Society Foundations (OSF) has informed organizations in Hungary that rely on its support that a recent decision by the OSF’s board effectively puts an end to most of its activities in the European Union to dedicate those resources to other parts of the world, RFE/RL’s Hungarian Service has learned.

The OSF’s resources for Europe will be “extremely limited,” an August 11 e-mail told those local groups.

The OSF, formerly known as the Open Society Institute, has spent hundreds of millions of dollars since it was established with a multibillion-dollar endowment from Hungarian-born founding Chairman George Soros to boost civil society around the world since the fall of communism in 1989.

Several Hungarian NGOs confirmed to RFE/RL’s Hungarian Service their receipt on August 11 of the OSF e-mail, which cites the board’s decision “on a radical strategic change of direction” to achieve maximum impact.

With the organizational restructuring planned for next year, many European programs could be concluded as early as 2024.

Fire at Russian Gas Station Kills 25, Injures 66

Aug 15 (Reuters) — A fire at a gas station in the southern Russian region of Dagestan killed 25 people including three children, Interfax news agency reported early on Tuesday citing regional emergency medics.

The fire started at an auto repair shop on the roadside of a highway in Dagestani capital Makhachkala on Monday night and caused blasts spreading to a nearby gas station, officials said.

Footage posted online showed a one-storey building ablaze, Reuters TV reported.

“It’s like a war here,” a witness said.

The number of people injured rose to 66, 10 of whom are in a critical condition, RIA news agency said quoting the Russian deputy health minister Vladimir Fisenko.

Thirteen of the wounded are children, Interfax reported citing the Dagestani health ministry.

It took fire fighters more than three and a half hours to put out the fire that spread into an area of 600 square meters (715 square yards), TASS reported, citing a statement from the Russian emergency service.

Ukrainians Paying Up to $10,000 to Escape Draft — FT

Thousands of Ukrainian men have paid large sums in bribes to avoid getting drafted during the ongoing conflict between Kiev and Moscow, the Financial Times reported on Saturday.

The news comes as Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky launched a massive military purge, sacking all of the regional military conscription officials and citing the multiple corruption scandals rocking the country. The recruitment officials are set to be replaced by combat veterans, according to Kiev’s plan.

Over the course of the ongoing conflict, thousands of Ukrainians have managed to escape the draft through various schemes in a culture of corruption. Kiev banned men aged between 18 and 60 from leaving the country when it first introduced martial law in February 2022, but the move only fueled more corrupt practices. One of the most popular options was simply buying medical exemption papers for some $6,000 on average, the FT reported, citing the findings of a probe into corruption by Ukrainian authorities.

Thousands of Ukrainian men have also attempted to leave the country illegally, with some 13,600 caught near border crossings and another 6,100 apprehended at checkpoints with fake papers, the FT noted, citing the latest official figures.

EU Safeguards Influence in Liberia Ahead of October Elections

A routine EU election-observer mission to Liberia has taken on additional significance as the West seeks to maintain its influence in the impoverished West African nation, as well as neighbouring Sierra Leone, following recent turmoil in Niger and the potential of Russia growing its geopolitical footprint.

October elections are fast approaching in Liberia which will challenge the nation’s nominally pro-Western government under President George Weah as the country experiences low-level food riots indirectly caused by the effect of the war in Ukraine.

Still bearing the political and economic scars of multiple civil wars that lasted until 2003, the 5.2 million, largely anglophone Liberia is regarded as one of the worst economically forsaken nations in Africa with endemic poverty and political corruption.

    • Oppenheimer didn’t “design” the atom bomb.

The physical principles were pretty widely known amongst scientists and physicists pretty much from the time it was discovered that the uranium atom could be split and create a chain reaction.

The most important contribution Oppenheimer made was as a herder of cats; managing and orchestrating the numerous gifted but prickly and eccentric personalities who each had a piece of the puzzle. And he acted as the intermediary between General Groves who built the vast infrastructure needed, secured the funding, and supplied everything the project required, and the scientific personnel who had to be managed to keep their attention and energies directed upon the goal. Oppenheimer decided the direction of research and the priorities, assigned personnel and supervised their efforts, and basically kept them on task.

Barack Obama dreamed ‘daily’ of ‘making love with men’

    August 15, 2023, Fria Tider

In the letter, former US President Barack Obama describes himself as “androgynous” – and talks about how he “makes love to men daily, stuck in the imagination”. The New York Post reports.

The more than 40-year-old letter, which was sent to ex-girlfriend Alex McNear, has the form of a kind of bizarre peco-oral in which the young Obama describes, among other things, his view on homosexuality.

“As for homosexuality, I must say that I think it is an attempt to remove oneself from the present, possibly a refusal to perpetuate the endless farce of mortality. You see, I make love with men daily, stuck in the imagination,” wrote Barack Obama, then 21 years, in November 1982.

Furthermore, Obama describes himself in the letter as “largely androgynous”. He explains that he wants to develop this quality even more until it is possible for him to “think in terms of people, rather than women as opposed to men”.

“But, if I return to the body, I see that I have been made a man, and physically in life I choose to accept that possibility,” the future president continues.

Alex McNear, who dated Obama during his year at Occidental College in Los Angeles, later censored the embarrassing gay passages in the letter. However, historian David Garrow managed to fish out the lines about homosexuality and androgyny.

The letter is currently owned by Emory University, which does not allow it to be photographed or moved from the site. Instead, Garrow’s friend Harvey Klehr transcribed the pieces by hand and sent them to the historian. Klehr also passed on the censored portion of the letter to the New York Post.

David Garrow himself states that he does not think there is anything strange about young Obama’s gay musings.

“I’m a historian, not a psychologist, but I think it’s pretty common knowledge that a (large?) majority have sexual fantasies!” he writes in an email.

A representative for Barack Obama has declined to comment on the matter, writes the New York Post.
