Adam Schiff Heckled at New York City Hearing: ‘You’Re a Scumbag’

Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was heckled during the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing on violent crime in New York City today.

An angry New Yorker dropped the hammer on Schiff while the congressman was reading his opening statement.

“This committee has used every means at its disposal to disrupt, interrupt, and interfere with Donald Trump’s prosecution,” Schiff said.

“Republicans would have you believe it is a mere coincidence that all of a sudden and out of the blue, the chairman Jordan decided that the state of NY is a wonderful place to do a hearing — not the chairman’s home state of Ohio, with its high rates of murder.”

Schiff didn’t get very far before he was brutally heckled by a man in the crowd, however.

Crime Killed a Quarter of a Million Black People

by Daniel Greenfield

Over the last decade, BLM, and assorted leftist and libertarian groups dismantled our criminal justice system. Police forces were defunded, pro-crime prosecutors refused to lock up criminals, federal and state prison systems released tens of thousands of them, and a wave of legislative decriminalization legalized everything from shoplifting, to drug dealing and mugging.

The pro-crime policymaking that eliminated public safety and cost over 3,000 lives in 2020 alone was done under the guise of fighting racism. Statistics which showed that black people were more likely to be arrested, imprisoned or shot during criminal encounters with police were used to spread conspiracy theories falsely accusing the criminal justice system of systemic racism.

What all of these racist conspiracy theories popularized by politicians, the media, and the entertainment industry ignored was that black people were also far more likely to be crime victims. Even as the BLM riots got underway, black people in surveys were strongly opposed to police defunding. The opposition was so vehement that Democrats not only abandoned the issue, but claimed that they had always been opposed to it and ran against their own position.

Despite years of false claims portraying black people as victims of a biased criminal justice system whose police forces are descended from “slave catchers” who repress minorities at the behest of white suburbanites, surveys of black people continue to tell a very different story…

Democrat Lawmakers ‘Urge’ DOJ to Investigate Warner Bros / Discovery Merger After Cancelation of Batgirl

Four Democratic legislators, including Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and Washington Representative Pramila Jayapal have asked Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Justice Department to investigate Warner Bros Discovery for limiting “consumer and worker choice,” including the cancellation of Batgirl.

Texas Representative Joaquin Castro and Rhode Island Representative David Cicilline joined Warren and Jayapal in writing the letter, which was addressed to Garland and Jonathan Kanter, the DOJ’s antitrust chief, and read that the four “respectfully urge the Justice Department to investigate the state of competition in affected labor and consumer markets” of the Warner Bros and Discovery+ merger as it “appears to have enabled Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to adopt potentially anticompetitive practices that reduce consumer choice and harm workers in affected labor markets.”

Federal Appeals Court Strikes Down Democratic City’s Natural Gas Ban Backed by Biden Admin

A federal appeals court ruled unanimously Monday that a natural gas ban proposed by the City of Berkeley, California, would illegally circumvent federal law.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that Berkeley’s natural gas piping ban, which the city’s government passed in 2019 as part of its climate agenda, violated the federal Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) of 1975. By banning gas pipes in new building construction, the city effectively violated the EPCA which prevents local regulations from impacting the energy use of natural gas appliances.

“Instead of directly banning those appliances in new buildings, Berkeley took a more circuitous route to the same result,” Judge Patrick Bumatay wrote in the opinion of the court Monday. “It enacted a building code that prohibits natural gas piping into those buildings, rendering the gas appliances useless.”

Feds Charge 40 Chinese Police Officials for Repression Efforts Against U.S. Residents

Two criminal complaints included charges against 44 defendants, 40 of whom are part of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) while another two are officials in the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC). The defendants allegedly partook in efforts to target Chinese individuals with political viewpoints of which the communist regime does not approve.

The first complaint targets 34 MPS officials, detailing their alleged use of fake digital personas to harass Chinese opponents of the communist regime. The operators of these fake accounts also made videos and wrote articles critical of U.S. policy on China and of Chinese dissidents.

The second complaint charges 10 individuals, six of whom are MPS officials. Two more are the CAC officials while the third is an China-based employee of a U.S. telecommunications company and the tenth is believed to reside in Indonesia. Man Claiming Self-Defense Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Girlfriend in Orange County, Deputies Say

Richard Raciak, 48, accused of shooting Allison Sheehan in back

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man claiming self-defense was arrested on Sunday when his girlfriend died after being shot in the back, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Raciak, 48, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder.

Deputies responded to the 2800 block of Smithfield Drive around 12:39 a.m. When they arrived, they found 46-year-old Allison Sheehan, who was shot and injured. She was taken to the hospital where she later died, according to sheriff’s officials.

According to an arrest affidavit, Sheehan was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the master bedroom of the home. The suspect’s father told deputies he received a text from Raciak, who said, “Allison was attacking me I had to fire shots,” the affidavit shows. In a couple of other texts, Raciak said the shooting was in “self-defense” and he sent a photo of the woman’s body.

Raciak complained of dehydration to the deputies and was taken to the hospital, where law enforcement later interviewed him.

The suspect told deputies he and Sheehan had been together for eight years and had thrown a birthday party for their child on Saturday when he claims she consumed alcohol and began arguing with him later that night, according to the affidavit.

Raciak told deputies his girlfriend “came at” him and she was going to “claw” his “eyes out.” He said she pushed him into a dresser in the room and he then grabbed a gun, saying he wanted to “put her down” and tried to shoot her in the leg so she would “chill.”

According to the affidavit, Raciak told deputies he shot her four times and admitted he shot her when she was turned away from him.

Man Charged in Shooting of Black Kansas City Teen Who Went to the Wrong House

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — Charges have been filed against a Kansas City, Missouri man accused of shooting a Black teenager who went to the wrong house earlier this month.

Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson announced late Monday afternoon that Andrew D. Lester, 85, is facing charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. The announcement came just hours after Kansas City police submitted the case to prosecutors.

Lester, who is white, is accused of shooting 16-year-old Ralph Yarl last Thursday night after the teen accidentally went to the wrong house to pick up his siblings.

According to Kansas City police, Ralph was picking up his younger siblings at a home on N.E. 115th Terrace when he mistakenly went to Lester’s house on N.E. 115th Street.

He didn’t have a phone with him and went to the wrong block, his aunt, Faith Spoonmore, wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to help pay medical bills. Spoonmore wrote that Yarl pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell.

Lester allegedly came to the door and shot the teenager in the head before shooting him again, The Associated Press reports.

Lester was taken into custody after Thursday’s shooting but was released the next day following consulation with the prosecutor’s office, Police Chief Stacey Graves said Sunday.

In an interview with police, Lester said he had just gone to bed when he heard the doorbell ring. He explained that he grabbed his .32 Smith and Wesson 1888 revolver before answering the door, which consisted of an interior main door and exterior glass storm door, both of which were locked, according to court documents.

Lester told authorities that when he opened the interior door, he saw a Black man pulling on the exterior storm door handle. He believed someone was attempting to break into the house and shot twice within a few seconds of opening the door, court documents say.

According to Yarl, Lester told him “don’t come around here,” after the shooting. As court documents explained, Yarl described going to multiple homes asking for help. Police arrived shortly after and found Yarl had gunshot wounds to his forehead and arm.

Family confirmed with Nexstar’s WDAF that Ralph has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Following the charging announcement, Mayor Quinton Lucas released a statement saying “I am relieved to see this first step towards justice for Ralph Yarl with today’s felony charges. Now we must remain engaged through trial.”

Only 327 Suspected Shoplifters Account for 6,000 Arrests for Theft in Alvin Bragg’s New York City

In New York City, shoplifting has reached record highs with over 63,000 incidents reported to police in 2022, and roughly one third of the arrests in those crimes were recidivistic as the same 327 criminals continue to steal from shops.

The Best is Yet to Come: Republicans Gained Supermajorities in 3 States in Recent Weeks.

The Democrats have suffered major reverses in North Carolina, Louisiana, and Wisconsin, with Republican legislators gaining supermajorities in all three states.

With the state legislatures now firmly in the hands of the GOP, the power of Democrat governors in the three states may be in peril.

In Louisiana, the Republicans — still very much considered the ‘party of Trump’ — enjoy supermajorities in both the House and Senate of the state legislature as a result of its longest-serving lawmaker, Rep. Francis Thompson, switching parties, meaning Governor John Bel Edwards can no longer veto bills banning biological males from girls’ sports in schools or lifting restrictions on concealed carry, for example.

In Wisconsin, the Republicans enjoy a Senate supermajority as a result of Dan Knodl’s defeat of a Democrat lawyer for an open seat. Being two seats shy of a supermajority in the House, the GOP cannot completely overrule Governor Tony Evers — though they can impeach him and other officials.

North Carolina is the site of the Republicans’ latest significant gain, with the GOP enjoying a House supermajority as a result of Rep. Jeremy LaCombe defecting from the Democrats on April 10th.

The RESTRICT Act Will Usher in a New Era of Censorship Under the Guise of “National Security”

45 days after 9/11, the United States government passed the PATRIOT Act — a chilling law that used the guise of “national security” to greatly expand the federal government’s secret surveillance powers.

Almost 23 years later, another far-reaching bill, the “Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology Act,” better known by its acronym, the RESTRICT Act, is using the same national security talking point to justify further federal government encroachment on Americans’ rights.

Although the bill doesn’t mention TikTok, its authors, Democratic Senator Mark Warner and Republican Senator John Thune, have framed it as “the best way to counter the TikTok threat.”

However, the impact of the bill extends far beyond TikTok and gives the US government sweeping powers to ban a wide range of apps and services.

Sudan Hospitals Struggle With Casualties, Damage in Fighting

CAIRO (AP) — At the Khartoum Teaching Hospital, people wounded during street battles flowed into the wards. Supplies were running low, with doctors, nurses, patients and their relatives trapped inside for days as the Sudanese capital turned into a war zone.

Then early Monday, one of the wards was heavily damaged by shelling.

“We are running out of everything,” Dr. Amin Saad told The Associated Press. “We are working with the least possible capabilities. … We’re all exhausted, but there is a shortage of physicians.”

Not long afterward, the hospital shut down completely — with staff, patients and relatives stuck inside as clashes raged throughout the neighborhood. It was one of at least 12 hospitals shuttered in the capital area because they were damaged in fighting, were inaccessible because of clashes or had run out of fuel, according to the Doctors’ Syndicate.

Khartoum’s hospitals have been thrown into chaos by the explosion of violence between Sudan’s two top generals. People have been unable to leave their homes since Saturday as the two sides engaged in gun battles and bombarded each other with artillery and airstrikes. More than 180 people have been killed and over 1,800 wounded since the fighting erupted, U.N. envoy Volker Perthes said.
