More than 30 people were arrested in the Washington, DC, protests over the weekend.

The arrests stemmed from clashes with cops, as well as incidents between supporters of President Trump and counter-protesters in the nation’s capital, authorities said.

Chinese Spy Got Her Start as Cal State Student, Report Says

Christine Fang, the alleged Chinese political operative who gained influence among several California politicians, including Rep. Eric Swalwell, used her status as a California State University student to her advantage.

According to an Axios story published Monday, Fang enrolled as a California State University-East Bay student in 2011 — the same year she began her work as a political operative.

Fang reportedly utilized her positions as president of the school’s Chinese Student Association and president of the campus chapter of Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs as a means by which to gain political access, according to the report.

As a student, she was able to invite politicians and executives to campus as the leader of these organizations. Her first known contact with Swalwell reportedly occurred during this period.

Hunt Still on for Suspects in Ransacking of Chicago Stores

CHICAGO — The summer night when crowds descended on downtown Chicago, shattered store windows and poured inside the gaping holes to grab as much merchandise as they could carry away is a distant memory to many in the city.

Even as the coronavirus crisis, the presidential election and the city’s gun violence epidemic pushed other news aside, detectives and prosecutors kept at one of the biggest investigations in Chicago history to find and arrest those who from late Aug. 9 into the early hours of Aug. 10 turned block after block into the largest crime scene the nation’s third-largest city has ever seen.

Four months later, detectives on a special task force are still poring over thousands of hours of surveillance videos and running down the more than 1,100 tips they’ve received. They keep adding to the nearly 100 video clips they’ve posted online in the hopes someone might identify suspects. And they monitor online sales sites to see if someone suddenly has some Gucci bags or electronics for sale.

Nearly 20 Percent of Seattle Restaurants Closed Permanently During First Six Months of Pandemic, Survey Says

According to a recent survey by the Washington Hospitality Association circulated to the press, around 2,400 restaurants and bars in the state closed permanently during the first six months that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the region. Of that total, around 624 closures were in Seattle alone, representing about 20 percent of all restaurants in the city based on early 2020 data. There were also 1,023 closures in King County out of an estimated 5,920 restaurants. And this could be just the tip of the iceberg.

Seattle was by far the hardest hit area of the state, but the numbers cited could be even higher, the industry group warns. The survey was conducted earlier this fall, and many more restaurants have decided to closeduring the latest restrictions implemented by Gov. Jay Inslee, with indoor service banned until at least January 4.

NJ Gym Facing Over $1.2M Fines for Defying Lockdown Orders

The Atilis Gym in New Jersey is facing over $1.2 million in fines for defying Governor Phil Murphy’s coronavirus lockdown orders.

“Governor Murphy has thrown everything he possibly could to shut us down,” Atilis Gym co-owner Ian Smith said. “He has arrested my partner and [me], given us over 60 citations, some of them criminal. He fines us $15,497.76 per day for every day that we’re in operation … but every single day, [co-owner Frank Trumbetti] and I open our gym, and no less than 500 people come and work out…

“What’s happening to the middle class and small businesses in America is nothing short of a complete tragedy. I would go so far as to call it criminal. You are putting people out of business for good. You are making them reliant on big government. You are taking away their civil liberties under the guise of pretending like you care about public health.”

Our Chinese Sister Cities: “Use the Countryside to Surround the City”

On November 17, four US Senators introduced legislation to investigate the “sister city” partnerships between communities in United States and China. According to Senator Marco Rubio:

“The Chinese government and Communist Party has a history of exploiting cultural and economic partnerships to conduct malign activities, and it’s clear that opaque, sister-city partnerships deserve increased scrutiny. We must do more to better understand, and then counter, Chinese influence operations at the state and local level, which are often conducted under the benign auspices of sister city relationships.”

In February, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned:

“Chinese Communist Party officials… are cultivating relationships with county school board members and local politicians — often through what are known as sister cities programs… Last year, a high school — a high school, a high school in Chicago — disinvited a Taiwanese representative to serve on a climate panel after Chinese pressure.”

There’s now growing alarm from command staff that Seattle doesn’t have nearly enough officers to keep citizens safe. If something doesn’t change soon, the situation will become critical.

YouTube Not Allowing Appeals on Moderation Decisions Leaves Creators’ Livelihoods at the Mercy of Bots

YouTube Deletes Reposted Video of Michigan Democrat State Rep. Cynthia Johnson’s Threats of Violence

Democrat Michigan State Representative Cynthia Johnson posted a video on social media earlier in the week, appearing to make threats against who she referred to “Trumpers” that would be carried out by “soldiers.”

But an attempt by Tom Elliott, who owns Grabien Media, to repost this on YouTube ended up in Google’s video platform removing his video.

Johnson’s comments, that included her saying, “We ain’t playing with you” and “be careful” came amid the post-election controversy in the US over the regularity of the presidential vote, and was made in a tone and posture that caused the speaker of the Michigan House, Lee Chatfield, to issue a statement announcing that Johnson could be facing disciplinary action and has in the meanwhile been stripped of her committees.

Bad Weather Continues to Sweep Italy

Red alert in Campania;orange in Veneto, Friuli, Umbria, Calabria

(ANSA) — ROME, DEC 9 — Bad weather is continuing to sweep Italy with torrential rain causing flooding in many parts.

There is a weather red alert in place Wednesday in Alto Adige and Campania.

An orange alert has been called in Basilicata, Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Umbria and Veneto.

The alert level is yellow in Abruzzo, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Molise, Sardinia, Sicily and Tuscany.

In Friuli some 10,000 people are without electricity and many schools have been closed.

The railway through the Brenner Pass was interrupted again.

In Veneto there was a landslide on the Staulanza Pass and the town of Zoldano was cut off.

In Tuscany, state highway 12 was also hit by a mudslide and a 2.4km stretch of road was closed.

In Versilia on the Tuscan coast, the carcass of a wild boar was washed up on the shoreline, having drowned in recent floods.

Pelting rain also enlarged a sink hole at Giugliano near Naples.

A 20-metre tall pine tree was toppled by a gale in Rome, crushing an empty parked car with no one hurt.

In Venice, flood damage was said to be “immense” in St Mark’s Square.

The lagoon city’s MOSE flood-barrier system was lifted to protect the city on Wednesday after a miscalculation meant it was not raised in time to prevent flooding on Tuesday.

The system was not activated on Tuesday as the ‘acqua alta’ tide peak was not forecast to be as bad as it turned out to be.

MOSE takes some time to be activated and, by the time the authorities realised their forecasts were off the mark on Tuesday, it was too late.

Cinzia Zincone, the head of the public works department in the area, told ANSA on Wednesday that “we are trying to calibrate the opening and closing (of MOSE) in the best way”.

She said a meeting would be held later on Wednesday to “analyse what happened yesterday and, if necessary, make significant changes to the procedures applied up to now for MOSE”.

After some corruption scandals and many years of work and delays, the system finally came into use this year. It was not ready in time to stop the floods that devastated the city in 2019.

Zincone said the flood barriers would stay up for three days with more high tides forecast up until Friday.

Italy: Virus Has Widened Gaps Between Rich and Poor — CENSIS

Italian system is like ‘square wheel’ says report

(ANSA) — ROME, DEC 4 — The gap between Italy’s rich and poor has widened further during the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual report of the CENSIS research agency said on Friday.

It said that there was a rise of 582,485 (22.8%) in the number of people on benefits between March and September 2020, while 1.46 million people have wealth of over $1 million (around 840,000 euros).

It said 40 of those people are billionaires, adding that the number of billionaires here and the total quantity of wealth they possess increased during the first wave of the pandemic.

CENSIS added that 90.2% of the Italian people it surveyed “are convinced the coronavirus emergency and the lockdown damaged the vulnerable more, amplifying existing social inequality”.

The report was critical of the way Italy is run at various levels.

“System Italy is a square wheel that does not roll,” it read.

“It struggles to move forward, splitting every rotation into four parts with a huge effort for every quarter turn made.

“The virus hit a society that was already tired”.

The report said the results of the use of distance learning in Italy during the pandemic have been disappointing.

It reported that almost three-quarters of school principals said distance learning has increased learning gaps between pupils.

The incident happened on November 20, as the Kingdom Faith Ministries International Church was broadcasting its service from Milton Keynes. This was necessary since churches in the UK have been effectively closed by the government which is prohibiting believers from physically gathering.

Multiple top international news outlets confirm that a list of 1.95 million Chinese Communist Party members has been leaked, and in it are the names of potentially thousands of individuals who live and work in the West, including at major financial institutions, medical research and pharmaceutical companies, and foreign governments.

Bali, a noted critic of mass migration, pushed back against those who support the so-called “high school amnesty” for around 7,000 Afghan migrants that was passed in 2018 despite indications that 78 per cent of the supposedly underage migrants eligible were actually adults.

Tulsi Gabbard Rips Critics Calling Her ‘Transphobic’ Amid Congressional Exit

Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard hit back at critics of legislation she’s introduced to prevent transgender women from competing in female sports and for the care of infant survivors of late-term abortion, calling them “hypocrites.”

A number of people called Gabbard, who leaves Congress this month, “transphobic” and a “right wing s—t heel” on Twitter, among other invectives.

“I welcome real criticism and debate,” Gabbard (D-Hawaii) told The Post Saturday. “But my so-called critics don’t want to debate the issues. They just want to engage in smears and slurs and name-calling and innuendo.”

  1. As much as I disagree with Congresswoman Gabbard on many issues, she is still a patriot and a veteran. The fascists don’t deserve someone like her to belong to their party.
