Bank of England Holds Off Extra Stimulus, Unemployment Set to Hit 7.5 Per Cent

LONDON (AP) — The Bank of England left its benchmark interest rate at a record low of 0.1 per cent on Thursday as it expressed caution about how rapidly the United Kingdom’s economy will recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The bank also left its target for buying government and corporate bonds unchanged at 745 billion pounds ($980 billion).

Economic Nightmare: Nearly 50 Percent of All the Jobs Lost During the COVID-19 Pandemic “May be Gone Permanently”

When millions of Americans were losing their jobs at the beginning of this pandemic, we were told not to worry because the lockdowns were just temporary and virtually all of those workers would be going back to their old jobs once the lockdowns ended. Well, now we are finding out that was not even close to true. Over the last 18 weeks, more than 52 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits, and a very large percentage of them are dealing with a permanent job loss. In fact, one brand new survey discovered that 47 percent of all unemployed workers now believe that their “job loss is likely to be permanent”. The following comes from a USA Today article entitled “Almost half of all jobs lost during pandemic may be gone permanently”…

In April, 78% of those in households experiencing job loss felt that that situation would be temporarily. But now, 47% think that job loss is likely to be permanent, according to The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

What that number tells us is that we are facing the worst employment crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

European Retail Trade Up 5.7 Percent in June

Retail trade in the European Union rose by 5.7 percent in June compared with the previous month, Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office said in a report published on August 5.

“In June 2020, a month marked by some relaxation of COVID-19 containment measures in many member states, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade increased by 5.7 percent in the euro area and by 5.2 percent in the EU, compared with May 2020,” Eurostat said. “In May 2020, the retail trade volume increased by 20.3 percent in the euro area and by 18.3 percent in the EU. This means that retail trade volumes in both zones have returned to the levels recorded in February 2020, before the start of containment measures.”

A few days passed and the event was being circulated and was gaining support on a viral scale locally.”

John Roberts Accused on Tape of Getting Hacked by Brennan and Clapper. Adoption Scandal?

With Vice President Mike Pence calling Supreme Court chief justice John Roberts a “disappointment” for conservatives, Roberts faces widespread scrutiny over the possibility that he is compromised. I reported in 2018:

Obama administration intelligence officials John Brennan and James Clapper must answer to the allegations that they blackmailed Supreme Court Justice John Roberts to get his vote for Obamacare in 2012.

Attorneys for an NSA and CIA whistleblower in D.C. circuit court are trying to see to that.

Roberts, who reportedly was investigated at one time for illegally adopting his sons, betrayed the Republican base that initially celebrated his Bush appointment when he confirmed the supposed constitutionality of Obamacare during Obama’s re-election campaign.

Supreme Court Justice John Roberts was sharply critical of the FISA court as he came up for confirmation, before the Obama administration intelligence chiefs reportedly hacked his phone and electronic records.

More Than 84,000 Vote-by-Mail Ballots Disqualified in NYC Democrat Primary

The New York City Board of Elections disqualified more than 84,000 vote-by-mail ballots in the state’s Democratic presidential primary, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

The Board of Elections received 403,103 mail-in ballots for the June 23 primary but only 318,995 of those votes were included in the certified results.

The final number reflects that 84,108 mail-in ballots were invalidated — roughly 21% of the total ballots submitted.

The ballots were disqualified for either arriving late, missing a postmark, or failing to include a voter’s signature. Approximately 30,000 mail-in ballots were considered invalid in Brooklyn alone, The Post reported Tuesday.

Shock Survey Finds That Funding is Being Reduced for “Nearly Half” of All Major City Police Departments in America

In recent weeks there has been a tremendous amount of debate about whether police departments around the country should be “defunded” or not, but what most Americans don’t realize is that it is already happening on a massive scale. At a time when crime rates are absolutely soaring and civil unrest is raging in major cities across the nation, police budgets are being deeply cut and in some cities there is talk of eliminating police departments altogether. I knew that a few cities had already made moves in this direction, but I had no idea that it was happening on such a widespread basis. According to a report prepared by the Police Executive Research Forum, nearly half of the law enforcement agencies that they surveyed “are reporting that funding has already been slashed or is expected to be reduced”…

Nearly half of 258 agencies surveyed this month are reporting that funding has already been slashed or is expected to be reduced, according to a report slated for release this week by the Police Executive Research Forum, a non-partisan research organization.

Much of the funding is being pulled from equipment, hiring and training accounts, even as a number of cities also are tracking abrupt spikes in violent crime, the report concluded.

And in most cases we are not talking about small cuts. Police funding in Los Angeles has been reduced by 15o million dollars, and police funding in New York has been slashed by a total of one billion dollars.

Those are staggering numbers.

Your Phone is Spying on You, And Companies Are Generating Secret “Surveillance Scores” Based on That Information

Nothing that you do on your phone is private. In this day and age, most of us have become extremely dependent on our phones, and most Americans never even realize that these extremely sophisticated little devices are gathering mountains of information on each one of us. Your phone knows what you look like, it knows the sound of your voice, it knows where you have been, it knows where you have shopped, it knows your Internet searches and it knows what you like to do in your free time. In fact, your phone literally knows thousands of things about you, and all of that information is bought and sold every single day without you knowing. And as you will see below, there are lots of companies out there that use information collected from our phones to create secret “surveillance scores” that are used for a whole host of alarming purposes.

It is really important to understand that your phone is a surveillance device. The reason why the advertisements on your phone seem so perfectly tailored for you is because of all the information that your phone has gathered on you previously.

To this day, many people are still amazed when they see an ad pop up for something that they were just talking with a friend about, but that doesn’t happen by accident. The following comes from Fox News…

Czech Koruna Strengthens to Record High Against Euro and the Dollar

The Czech currency is currently the strongest against the euro since the declaration of a state of emergency over the coronavirus in March this year. At the same time, it is also the strongest against the dollar since September 2018.

The Czech to US currency exchange rate fell below 22 korunas, and as for the European currency, it is just above 26 korunas.

This year, the Czech currency fell sharply against world currencies due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the beginning of March, the first cases of the disease appeared in the Czech Republic, and on March 12, the government declared a state of emergency. The Czech koruna then weakened sharply against the euro and the dollar in just a few days — against the euro by about two korunas and against the dollar by more than three korunas.

Who’s Stealing Christopher Columbus Letters From Libraries Around the World?

In 1492, Christopher Columbus, of course, sailed the ocean blue. And on his journey home, he wrote a letter to his patrons, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain, describing his discovery of the new world, and in effect, asking for more money to make another trip. Columbus’ voyage marked one of the great plot points in history. Upon his return, his letter was printed and distributed throughout Europe, making for blockbuster news. Columbus’ original handwritten letter, penned on the high seas, no longer exists, but some of the printed copies do. As we first reported last year, most are housed in prestigious libraries, and for centuries, that’s where they’ve remained. That is, until about 10 years ago, when authorities discovered some of these treasures had been stolen and replaced with forgeries. So began a modern kind of trans-Atlantic quest, as investigators in the U.S. and Europe worked to recover Columbus’ missing missives and solve this most unusual international mystery.

North African YouTubers Advise on How to Get to Europe and America

According to The Economist magazine, North African migrants have long shared advice on how to get to Europe or America illegally. The Economist pays particular attention to the form of the videos. Compared with the dross of north Africa’s state broadcasters, it makes riveting viewing, the magazine writes, pointing out that every episode with tips for potential migrants filmed on a mobile phone and regularly posted on YouTube is full of suspension.

In one of the videos, for example, a video blogger cuts his way through the rainforest, sails on a wooden canoe, flirts with women, eventually getting to Panama, one of the ten countries he illegally entered while traveling to the United States.

Swedish Authorities Admit They Have No Idea How Many Migrants in Country

Ahead of a planned 2021 census, Swedish authorities have admitted they don’t know exactly how many people live in the country, citing people with multiple identities, wrong addresses and illegal migration as possible explanations.

Of this number, as many as 119,000 people are registered at the wrong address, an issue which is further exacerbated by discrepancies in the quality of data from certain areas, including neighborhoods with migrant populations and coastal tax havens.
