Danish Economy Sees Historic Plunge Due to Coronavirus Crisis

The Danish economy fell by a historic amount in the second quarter of 2020, losing 7.4 percent according to Statistics Denmark.

This accounts for the largest fall in GDP since the early 1990s, when the national stats agency began to measure economic growth on a quarterly basis. The figure also means that Denmark has technically entered a recession for the first time since the 2009 financial crisis. To qualify for a technical recession a country has to record two consecutive quarters with negative changes in GDP.

The S&P 500’s move into record territory came after the index flirted with its all-time closing high for more than a week. It also confirms the start of a new bull market.

Bizarre Musical Ending to DNC Faces Ridicule

Cake Lives Matter: Protesters Descend on New York Bakery for Making MAGA-Hat-Shaped Cake

“Cake lives matter” was actually written on a sign of one of the protesters who showed up outside Coccadotts Cake Shop in New York, just outside of Albany. The bakery drew huge protests over the last couple of days for doing what a bakery does: baking a cake.

But, of course, this wasn’t just any cake. This was a cake with feelings: a super-racist, super-homophobic capitalist cake. And the protesters knew that because it was made in the shape of a red hat that said “Make America Great Again” on it.

DNC Viewership Disaster: Less Than Half Tune in to Watch Democratic Convention Compared to 2016

The Suffering of Lebanon’s Christians: “We Will Disappear”

by Lorenzo Vita

In the aftermath of the explosion Beirut mourns its dead and weighs the damage caused. It is extensive, considering that the force of the blast devastated not only the port but all the neighbourhoods hit by the shockwave. A war scenario which has lacerated the Lebanese capital but also gashed the reality of a Country which has always been an extremely delicate mosaic of religions, ideologies and sensibilities and which is now forced to confront its deepest issues, first and foremost, survival. Because the Lebanon which until only a few decades ago was considered the jewel of the Middle East, today risks being buried beneath Beirut’s ruins once and for all.

In this delicate and precious ecosystem encased between the East and the Mediterranean, Christians are forced to endure a particular situation. Integration has always been one of Lebanon’s strong points, yet Christians of all confessions know what it means to have to survive, especially surrounded by people of different religions. And today, following the disaster, the watchword is “survival”, and maybe even an attempt towards a rebirth. A reality which bishop Matthias Charles Mrad knows only too well. The Patriarchal Vicar of Beirut’s Eparchy of Catholic Syrians alongside his expression of faith also rallies to fuel a spirit and strength aimed at finally bringing Lebanon back on its feet one day.

Eminence, what is currently the situation in Lebanon following the explosion?

The situation in Lebanon now appears calm. Definitely more calm than during the hours and days immediately following the explosion, however what the Country is going through is dramatic. Lebanon is experiencing a terrible political and economic crisis, and on top of this Lebanon has had to face an explosive combination: first the protests, then the Coronavirus, now the devastation of Beirut. The crisis is taking its toll on its people and the entire country needs to be rebuilt even beyond the rubble. The State has failed, politics is non-existent, and the population is left to itself, devastated: reconstruction must begin from the people.

This is the End of Lukashenko’s Reign, Says Polish Political Science Professor

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be unable return to power and no force will be able to change that, said Zurawski vel Grajewski, a professor of political science from the University of Lódz,

He explained that Russia’s potential takeover of influence in Minsk will depend on Moscow’s evaluation of the political costs of such an operation.

“Russia of course wants to control Belarus, but at the cheapest price possible. Meanwhile, Lukashenko is currently a factor which maximizes the political costs. He has stopped being useful to anybody,” the professor said, adding that the president has lost the support of the people and will not regain it due to the scale of the current conflict.

Google Accused of Peddling Misinformation

In Australia, Google is getting a bit of a taste of its own medicine, after spending much of this year running amok flagging, deplatforming, or removing content as misinformation. Now, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is accusing Google of doing just that — disseminating misinformation.

Google’s battles in various parts of the world whose markets it holds in a firm, some say effectively monopolistic grasp with its search, advertising, news and other content, are fairly profiled by now.

In the US, it’s mostly about political influence; in Europe, the giant’s problems have to do with regulatory issues; and in Australia, the dispute always seems to circle back to money, as Australian publishing corporations, with the backing of their country’s authorities, want a slice of Google’s super lucrative, advertising-generated pie.

Three Migrants Charged With Rape of 15-Year-Old Italian Girl on Lignano Beach

Three migrant youths on temporary leave from a refugee center raped a 15-year-old Italian girl Saturday evening on a beach near Udine in northeastern Italy.

The young woman was alone and waiting for some friends when she was approached by a group of three men — two are Albanians and one Egyptian. The three had left a refugee center in Milan to spend the mid-August night by the sea, in Lignano Sabbiadoro, a well-known seaside resort in the province of Udine.

According to Milanese daily Il Giornale, the group of foreigners is suspected of forcing themselves on the girl, with two of them allegedly raping the 15-year-old, while the third migrant, a peer of theirs, allegedly only watched what his friends were doing without trying to stop them or warn anyone. The police are charging him with not stopping the crime.

  1. “Czechia is Ready to Dump Its Koruna Currency and Embrace the Euro, Says PM Babis”
Don’t believe him. We citizens don’t want the € (not under the current circumstances, as least) and Babiš knows too well it would cost him his mandate.

  3. With the Green-Left so neurotic about everything they can possibly associate with Nazis, how will they take the truth that precisely the Nazis initiated what is now the favourite item of green politics — wind power?

Ancillary remark: The metaphor of a watermelon has a very different meaning across the pond. We call the Greens the “Watermelon Party” because of their thin layer of green on the outside, red flesh and brown seeds. Intransigence to facts combined with dictatorial approach and pure socialist underbelly.

    • Point it out and the brains will explode. Although im also sure the Dutch will be jealous they were surpassed in wind power long ago. The both of us will soon be arrested for climate and wuhan virus denial
