Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/10/2020

Mass rioting and looting broke out in Chicago in the wee hours of this morning after a young man was wounded in a shootout with police. Mostly peaceful protesters broke into high-end retailers and exchanged gunfire with police on downtown streets. The authorities closed interstate ramps and raised drawbridges to cut the flow of traffic into the downtown area.

In other news, President Trump was hurriedly escorted from a press briefing after a man carrying a gun was shot and wounded by the Secret Service outside the White House.

Global Lockdowns Set to Plunge 100 Million Into Extreme Poverty

The impact of the global coronavirus lockdown is set to plunge 100 million people into extreme poverty, warns a new report by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

The report appears to pin the blame on COVID-19 itself for the economic impact, yet the actual culprit is discovered to be the “restrictions” put in place by governments in response to the pandemic.

#WhiteHouseSiege — This Group Plans to Lay Siege to” & “Occupy” The White House Next Month

Authored by Daisy Luther via The Organic Prepper blog,

The group that takes credit for the Occupy Wall Street movement of 2011 has a new and even more outrageous plan in mind. They intend to “occupy” the White House.

Adbusters, an online magazine that describes itself as “a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the information age” issued a post that they called Tactical Briefing #1 to launch their plans to “lay siege” to the President’s home in Washington, DC. “Don’t Bait Us!”: Chicago Mayor Triggered After Reporter Repeats Police Chief on Lax Looter Response

Chief Brown: “These looters, these thieves, these criminals are emboldened by no consequences in the criminal system. They get released. Many charges get dropped. And so they feel emboldened to do it more, do it more. That is not a consequence of the officers’ not making the arrests. The officers are making the arrests. The consequences are once prosecution and sentencing comes up, there’s no consequences. So we would argue that let’s have the criminal justice system here deliver a strong message to these criminals that there will be consequences for your behavior.”

Two people were shot, more than 100 people were arrested and 13 police officers were injured in the chaos that erupted in the city’s central business district Sunday night and into Monday morning.

“A heavy police presence will continue throughout the downtown area today, and until further notice,” Brown said at a Monday morning press conference.

Andy Ngo Reveals How Antifa Rioters Get Out of Jail and Keep Terrorizing Portland Night After Night

On the 72nd straight night of violence in Portland, antifa rioters again targeted the Portland Police Association (PPA) — which they had lit on fire the night before — and turned the streets around it into a war zone. They erected barricades, lit fires on the street, and fired mortar fireworks at police officers, wounding two of them. In a memorable exchange, a man on the street assured antifa rioters that they should not worry even as they were getting arrested. Andy Ngo, editor-at-large at The Post Millennial, explained why this man reassured them, and why antifa rioters can keep themselves out of jail to return to the streets, night after night.

A group of about 200 rioters began marching toward the PPA, which is located in a residential neighborhood, at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night, Portland Police reported. Police defended the building and warned rioters not to attack it again. Antifa rioters immediately started barricading the streets with dumpsters and fencing. They lit a fire on the sidewalk outside the office.

Barr: U.S. Facing New Form of ‘Urban Guerrilla Warfare’ Driven by Left’s ‘Lust for Power’

(FOX NEWS) — The United States is grappling with a new form of “urban guerrilla warfare” driven by the left’s “lust for power,” Attorney General William Barr told “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday.

Discussing the ongoing Black Lives Matter riots rippling through several U.S. cities, Barr told host Mark Levin that the organization — which has been characterized by the media as a fed-up activist group — is comprised of “Bolsheviks” with a focus on on “some form of socialism, communism.”

“They are a revolutionary group that is interested in some form of socialism, communism. They’re essentially Bolsheviks. Their tactics are fascistic,” he said.

Big Ten Votes to Cancel 2020 Fall Football Season Amid Coronavirus Concerns

The Big Ten became the first in the Power Five conference to cancel its 2020 fall football season over concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, the Detroit Free Press confirmed Monday.

University presidents voted 12-2 on Sunday to forego fall sports in the conference. Michigan and Michigan State — which both have physicians as presidents — are two of the 12 teams that voted against having a season. Only Nebraska and Iowa were in favor of playing, radio host Dan Patrick said on his program Monday morning.

The Big Ten’s decision comes just two days after the Mid-American Conference decided to cancel its season, becoming the first in the school to do so.

Bill Gates Advocates for Stopping End-to-End Encryption (To Tackle “Misinformation”)

Tech billionaire Bill Gates seems more present in the media these days than he has been for a long time, but he’s not talking about what he knows best: how to make a lot of money in tech, stifle competition, and get away with it.

Gates is inserting himself in the debate around a medical crisis, the coronavirus epidemic, and if Wired’s tone is to be believed, he is to be taken as an “authoritative source” on medical issues, as a self-thought epidemiologist of sorts.

This belief may stem from the fact Gates, as the report suggests, announced an upcoming pandemic in the past, and it happened “just as he predicted” — but he’s also presented as a victim of conspiracy theories and misinformation.

Chicago Riots: Woman Shouts “I Can’t Breathe” As She Loots Luxury Clothing Store

This prompted hundreds of looters in cars to descend on Chicago’s high end stores before later going on to attack police.

Conspiracy Clinton: Trump’s Coronavirus Relief Executive Orders Are a “Stunt”

Is There Evidence That the 2020 Election Could be Stolen Using Mail-in Ballots and Counterfeit Driver’s Licenses?

The integrity of our elections is of paramount importance, because without fair elections we would lose the ability to choose our leaders. This is something that should transcend politics, because Republicans and Democrats should both be able to agree that anyone that attempts to fraudulently alter the outcome of an election is committing a crime against all of us. Unfortunately, we are already witnessing some suspicious activity that is raising red flags. It is well known that China wants President Trump to lose in November, and U.S. officials say that they have intercepted thousands upon thousands of counterfeit driver’s licenses which are being shipped into the United States from China. Of course a license is the most common form of ID used on voter registration forms, and most states now allow voters to register and vote by mail. If a potential voter never has to come face to face with anyone, that opens a door for all sorts of abuse.

In 2016, Trump won the swing states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan by razor-thin margins.

Trump won Pennsylvania by just 68,236 votes.

Trump won Wisconsin by just 27,257 votes.

Trump won Michigan by just 11,837 votes.

If Hillary Clinton had won those three states, she would have won the election.

And if Joe Biden wins those three states in 2020, he will definitely defeat Trump.

So the integrity of the vote is particularly important in those three states, and each of those states recently made it easier for voters to cast their votes by mail…

Media Blackout: Black Man Intentionally Swerved SUV Into White Boys — No Hate Crime Charges

A black man who deliberately swerved his vehicle into three white schoolboys on the sidewalk was not charged with a hate crime. The incident, which occurred last year, was only picked up by local media, prompting some to believe that the demographic nature of the crime did not match prevailing mainstream media narratives.

On April 5, 2019, 21-year-old Oghaleoghene Atunu saw three schoolboys, aged 11 and 12, stroll down a suburban sidewalk before surveilling the area, creeping behind the boys, then stepping on the accelerator before intentionally mowing the trio down.

Surveillance footage indicated that Atunu circled the cul-de-sac several times, ostensibly to look for a way to inflict the most damage, before carrying out his wanton attack and fleeing the scene, according to TapHaps.

Libs feel righteous and justified when they say it or write it because they are fighting the evil fearmongers who unfairly dislike riots, you see, so the actual facts are less important than the spirit or gist of the message.

That includes things that are both clearly threats of violence and by far exceed where these same media gatekeepers and woke folks normally put the bar for naming something violence.

Why the Globalist Establishment Hates Our Historic President

It’s Trump’s greatness that makes them tremble. It’s Trump’s ability to speak to the people in their terms and their words that makes them hate him even more. It’s his energy, his drive, his thousands of followers who make his enemies work to destroy him. We’ve never seen a president who sleeps so little, works so hard, gives so much, and doesn’t even take a salary…

Without ‘Much More Aggressive Shutdowns,’ the New York Times Warns, COVID-19 Could Kill ‘Well Over a Million’ Americans

That scenario seems highly implausible based on what we know about the epidemic.

Without “much more aggressive shutdowns,” a New York Times editorial warns, “well over a million” Americans “may ultimately die” from COVID-19. The paper does not cite a source for that estimate, which seems highly implausible based on the death toll so far, projections for the next few months, the gap between total infections and confirmed cases, and a crude case fatality rate that continues to fall.

Independent data scientist Youyang Gu, who has a good track record of predicting COVID-19 fatalities, is currently projecting about 231,000 deaths in the United States by November 1. The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation projects 295,000 deaths by December 1. Assuming those projections prove to be about right, the Times is predicting that the death toll will quadruple during the months before an effective vaccine can be deployed, which might happen early next year.

Pontifical Academy Rips Faithful Catholic Scientist

VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) — The Vatican has launched a personal attack on a Catholic scientist after she shredded a pontifical publication for portraying “an earthly utopia without God.”

Dr. Doyen Nguyen, an academic physician and moral theologian with specializations in diagnostic hematology and bioethics, slammed the Pontifical Academy for Life’s (PAL) document titled “Humana Communitas in the Age of Pandemic: Untimely Meditations on Life’s Rebirth” as godless, Christless, churchless, hopeless and faithless.

PAL lashed out at her in a tweet, refusing to addressing the scientist-theologian as Dr. Nguyen: “Mrs. Doyen Nguyen criticizes the Academy on #COVID19 as ‘professor’ of Angelicum. But she taught only for one year as invited. Her title as @_Angelicum professor is incorrect as her whole argument. Please read @PontAcadLife whole, not partial topics: http://academyforlife.va…

China Steps Up Its Censorship Techniques

China’s Great Firewall has been in place for a long time, and unfortunately for many whose online activities and access to the internet are severely censored thanks to it, it’s working very well.

However, security researchers are now reporting that Beijing is making additional efforts for the tool to become more efficient, and the goal now is to block connections using safe and encrypted protocols, along with IP addresses involved in the process, for a short stint (several minutes at a time).

The news is coming from from iYouPort, the University of Maryland, and the Great Firewall Report, and claims that China’s update affecting secure HTTPS connections was rolled out at the end of July.

UK: Author Gillian Philip on Facing Twitter Mobs, Getting Fired for Supporting J.K. Rowling

Celebrated author J.K.Rowling has long been in the sights of radical transgender activists and their supporters on social networks essentially for not, as a woman, unconditionally and unquestionably — by their standards (and possibly by George Orwell’s “1984” standards) — supporting an extremely intolerant narrative that seeks to enforce itself against the will of other participants in what should be a conversation.

That’s old news — but what’s new is that the aggressive and exclusionary campaign is also spilling over and affecting others who dare speak their mind on this issue.

The climate of blanket censorship online on a number of topics is certainly not discouraging this type of behavior, and now Gillian Philip, an accomplished author in her own right with a strong social media presence, is testifying to what exactly that “canceling” looks like.

  1. New Zealand just had 102 days of no community transmission.

Now looking for the chain of transmission, if they can find it.

New Zealand is now activating a resurgence plan.
Auckland workers will not go back to work, unless deemed an “essential service”.

Breaking news at 21:15 pm .
Posting this at 22:37 pm Tuesday evening. NZ time.
Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says there are four confirmed cases within one family.

One person is in their 50s. They live in South Auckland.

They have returned two positive results. They have no history of international travel.

Six family members who reside in the same household have been tested. Three returned positive results, three negative.

All close contacts are in isolation.

Bloomfield said there would be testing of people working at the borders and in facilities to determine the origin of this case.
[but at the moment, no obvious connections]

As a result, Auckland moves to level 3 restrictions from 12 noon tomorrow. The restrictions will last three days until midnight Friday.
The rest of New Zealand will move to level 2 at the same time.

“These three days will give us time to assess the situation, gather information, make sure we have wide-spread contact tracing,” Ardern said.

Aucklanders are asked to stay home to stop the spread.
“Act as if you have Covid and the people around you have Covid.”

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/423305/watch-live-prime-minister-and-director-general-of-health-hold-media-briefing

Doubtlessly the rest of NZ papers will be full of it in less than 12 hours.

Level 2 for rest of NZ, means do not go to work, if you can work at home.
2 metres, that is 12′ or 2 yards of social distancing also.
So everything grinds back to a “go slow”.

How far has this set in place.
There are a number of work places further in the suburbs.
Just earlier in the day a rest home in Christchurch, a South Island City seems to have suspicious respiratory problems in their residents.

Can NZ afford the near shut downs again.
An election on 19th September 2020.

  4. Yesterday in the news block, I left comments and a link (with a video), where it was said about the rape of a 9-year-old by a certain Asian, who was twice caught on CCTV cameras.

Now he is hiding, apparently his national diaspora is hiding him.
    =============
Deputy of the Ivanovo Regional Duma Dmitry Shelyakin published an appeal to representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, in which, in particular, he writes:

“On August 8, a crime took place in the city of Ivanovo, which was disgusting in its essence and unworthy of the title of a person – a nine-year-old Russian girl was raped. From the disseminated orientation, it became known that a native of Azerbaijan Babayev Ruslan Arshad oglu, born in 1994, is suspected of committing this crime.

Now he is wanted. In this regard, I am asking you to determine, using your internal connections, the whereabouts of the offender and inform the law enforcement agencies of Russia about him.

In the absence of help from you, Russians may get the false impression that the diaspora is covering up for the rapist and helping him escape justice. This factor will not add confidence, but it may add tension to interethnic relations. Therefore, I ask you to do everything possible to minimize the negative consequences of your fellow countryman’s actions. ”
