Is the Nationwide Coin Shortage Being Used to Push Us Toward a Cashless Society?

The coin shortage in the United States is becoming quite severe, and a lot of people are deeply concerned about where this might be leading us. But if you don’t run a business or deal with coins on a regular basis, you may not even know that it is happening. On Monday, my wife told me that a lot of people on Facebook were talking about this nationwide coin shortage, and then on Tuesday Ricky Scaparo posted a couple of news stories about it, so I decided that I better start looking into this. Because if this coin shortage is going to be used to push us toward a cashless society, that makes it a really big deal.

What I discovered is that this coin shortage has actually been intensifying for quite a few weeks, and on June 11th the Federal Reserve issued a statement in which they announced that coin rationing would begin on June 15th…

Merkel Ready to Compromise on EU Recovery Package

In order to expedite a much needed agreement on the European Union’s seven-year budget and the €750 billion economic recovery fund, Germany will arrive at the July 17-18 EU Summit ready to compromise, Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday during a joint statement with visiting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Merkel said that the recovery fund and the Union’s €1 trillion budget should be handled as a package deal, reaching agreement on both issues at the same time. She added that time was short, because after reaching the agreement, the programs for using the funds must also be devised before the two agreements can come into effect.

Cartoonist Ben Garrison Sues the ADL for Defamation, Seeks Over $10m in Damages

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is known for scouring the internet for what it deems to be hate speech or misinformation and then using what it finds as the basis of a campaign.

Sometimes these campaigns will focus on attempting to get a company to censor more hate speech or misinformation, such as the current “Stop Hate for Profit” campaign which is being spearheaded by the ADL.

Other times these articles will accuse public figures of being racist or anti-Semitic. These accusations are often then repeated by media outlets and have the potential to damage the reputation and career of these public figures before they have the opportunity to respond and defend themselves.

In the case of cartoonist Ben Garrison, he was publicly disinvited from The White House’s Social Media Summit last year after an ADL article about him became the subject of heavy media attention.

Local Governments Want You to Pay for the Economic Terrorism They Caused

Local governments want massive tax hikes to cover the costs of the economic terrorism they extracted on the entire population. Cities like Nashville, Tennessee plan to hike property taxes as much as 34% to cover the costs of their terrorism.

Have you had enough yet? Because too many are still taking this on the chin. Historic job losses caused by government-mandated lockdowns that have fueled the downturn have also put the squeeze on city and state budgets. Washington sought to offset this with stimulus payments, additional unemployment benefits, business grants, and more, but now they want their money back in the form of massive tax hikes.

Any push to raise taxes too dramatically could hurt the economy even more, not to mention cause civil unrest. People are already living on the edge, and those lucky enough to still have jobs are living paycheck to paycheck. But, if the government can get away with it from a passive and sleeping public, they’ll do it.

“If it’s Goya, it has to be good!’ Marinades, seasonings, desserts, olive oil: Goya makes all of these and more. Its 2,500 products are staples in many US households but particularly those of the Hispanic community.

But the largest Hispanic-owned business in the US is no longer “good” for many. Critics say that Goya CEO Robert Unanue made a major faux pas when he praised the president after being invited to the White House.

A group of Never Trumpers formed the ‘Lincoln Project’ with the mission of ‘protecting democracy’. Their real cause is not to protect democracy and the rule of law, but rather to defeat President Trump in the 2020 Presidential election.

Tentative Ruling Against Patreon Could Provide a Legal Workaround for Big Tech Censorship

A California Court has issued a tentative ruling against fan-funding platform Patreon and denied its request for an injunction against 72 claimants who are seeking arbitration against the company.

If the final ruling goes against Patreon, which it looks like it might, lawyer, commentator, and producer Mike Cernovich believes that it would serve as “a HUGE workaround for Big Tech censorship” where the former backers of large creators who are banned from Patreon or other similar sites such as payments service PayPal could file similar motions and force these companies to pay huge arbitration fees that could total millions of dollars.

The 72 claimants are former backers of comedian Owen Benjamin who was banned from Patreon last October for “hate speech.”

Bielan: We Won’t be Buying Media Companies Out to Re-Polonize Them

The chief of Duda’s campaign staff stressed, in an interview for Polsat News, that the incumbent’s victory in the presidential elections was Duda’s personal success.

He added that Duda’s mandate of 10.5 million votes is the second strongest in Polish history (Lech Walesa received 10.6 million in 1990).

Bielan admitted that the president’s environment aimed for 9.5 million votes in the elections and pointed out that the United Right has never received such a high result — it is 2 million more compared to even the massive success in the 2019 parliamentary elections.

He also reiterated that no matter the difference in the final result, Andrzej Duda will be a president with a powerful mandate for the next five years.

Adam Bielan underlined, in the context of Duda’s and PiS’s election promises, that judiciary reform will be continued.

He stated that in terms of re-polonizing the media, the government wants to reach a situation similar to Germany or France, where the domestic capital forms the majority of the media landscape.

Europe Tells Apple to Stop Removing Apps From the App Store Without Warning

It’s rare that a European regulation helps to reduce censorship rather than facilitate it — but that’s what has happened.

The European Union has introduced a number of new rules and regulations that are going to give more transparency to developers as well as publishers. The rules will impact Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Up until now, the App Store could randomly pull down content or even whole apps altogether without any prior notice whatsoever, a major issue for those whose whole livelihood is based on it.

The proposals were made a year ago and with the new regulations in place, the App Store and Google Play will have to give at least 30 days of notice before taking down any app.

Many Germans Say China Will Overtake US as Superpower: Survey

Is the United States losing its grip on world supremacy? Many people in Germany feel that it is and that China will be the country to take its place as dominant power in the coming decades, a new survey shows.

Some 42% of Germans feel that the United States is likely to slip from its position as leading world power in the next few decades, with China moving up to replace it, a survey published on Tuesday has shown.

Just 14% of those surveyed by the UK-based YouGov polling institute believed that the US would retain its supremacy. Some 23% were undecided and 22% gave no response to the survey question, “Which country, the US or China, will be more powerful in the course of the next 50 years, in your opinion?”

Opinions on the issue varied depending on which party respondents voted for. Supporters of the Left Party tended in the majority to predict China’s future dominance over the US (54%), as did supporters of the business-friendly Free Democrats and the environmentalist Greens (52%).

China Covered Up the COVID Pandemic. Here’s How Angry Americans Respond.

Most Americans blame China for abetting the global coronavirus pandemic and more than four in ten have already begun boycotting Chinese goods or have stopped using Chinese-owned apps like TikTok. Most Americans also think the U.S. should cut its trade dependence on China after the pandemic.

A new Pipslay Research survey released Tuesday found that most Americans say China is to some degree responsible for the coronavirus pandemic. Forty-four percent of Americans said the Chinese “could have stopped or contained the pandemic spread,” while 21 percent said Beijing “created this crisis intentionally.” Only 35 percent agreed with the statement that China “also suffered the consequences like the rest of us.”

The survey asked respondents, “Do you personally plant to take steps to register your protest against China?” Most Americans (66 percent) said, “Yes,” while only 34 percent said, “No.”

One in five (20 percent) agreed with the statement, “I have already stopped buying ‘made in China’ products,” and another 14 percent said, “I have already stopped buying Chinese products/brands.” Eight percent said, “I have already stopped using Chinese apps.” Another 24 percent said, “I plan to take some step/steps soon.”

Mysterious Disappearance of Key COVID-19 Timeline Data

Mysterious blips: something’s there

In early May of this year, I published a blog post showing that, in Hubei province (Wuhan’s location) and in Beijing (the Chinese capital), there were a cluster of Google searches on the “Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome” (SARS: a previous coronavirus) and on “Coronavirus” in September and October 2019 respectively, months before COVID-19 burst on the world stage in late December.

Here is one of the graphics I posted, describing Google search volume for “Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome”

I found similar spikes for “Coronavirus” for both Google and Wikipedia searches in September/October 2019, hinting—but not proving — that someone, somewhere had elevated curiosity about SARS and Coronavirus before the rest of the world knew these subjects were important.

Italy: COVID-19: Military Hospitals to be Used to Quarantine Migrants

No bids made in response to call to rent ships for quarantine

(ANSA) — ROME, JUL 14 — The interior ministry said Tuesday that migrants that arrive in Italy may be put into coronavirus quarantine at military hospitals Soon after the announcement it emerged that 13 migrants who tested positive for COVID-19 after landing Calabria at the weekend will be transferred to Rome’s Celio military hospital.

The move comes after the government issued another call for expressions of interest for owners willing to rent ships to be used for COVID-19 quarantine after a first call garnered no bids.

The new call is open to bids until July 16.

The ministry said it continues to pay “the utmost attention to the protection of citizens’ health, in particular in regions such as Sicily and Calabria that are the most exposed to the autonomous arrival of migrants”.

The ministry said it has “reinforced surveillance measures, including for local reception facilities, with the possibility of the transfer of migrants under quarantine to military hospitals, where necessary”.

There has been tension in parts of southern Italy after the arrival of asylum seekers infected with the coronavirus.

The migrants being moved to the Celio facility were in quarantine at a facility in the town of Amantea with soldiers keeping watch 24 hours a day after they were part of a group of around 70 Bangladeshis that landed in Roccella Ionica on Saturday.

Furthermore, swabs showed that 11 migrants from a group of 60 Asians who landed in the Sicilian port of Pozzallo on Monday are positive for COVID-19.
