Alex Berenson’s Lockdown Skeptic Book Rockets to Top of Kindle Charts After Amazon’s Censorship Backlash

Unreported Truths About COVID-19 And Lockdowns Part 1, by Alex Berenson, has rocketed to the top of the Kindle charts after Amazon had attempted to censor the book and was met with harsh backlash.

Like with other types of content from lockdown skeptics, and even others that mainstream outlets like to call “conspiracy theories,” the attempt at censorship gave way to the Streisand effect and actually increased the public awareness of the material.

Known for being a vocal critic about the lockdowns, Berenson authored a book regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Berenson sought to get his book published through Amazon Kindle’s Direct Publishing.

Protests, Riots, A Confederate Monument: 8 Things That Happened in Indianapolis This Week

Much has happened in Indianapolis since Friday, May 29, when protests over racial injustices have swept our city and the nation.

Here’s a look at what happened this past week here as Indianapolis enters its second weekend of those protests in response to police killings of black Americans.

Riots lead to damage, injuries

After many protesters left, around 11 p.m. Friday, a group of more than 100 left Monument Circle and began blocking traffic at the intersection of West Market and North Illinois streets. Glass shattered, and tear gas hit the pavement. IndyStar does not know which happened first.

Officers used multiple volleys of tear gas and pepper balls to try to to disperse crowds of people, who lingered on city streets well past midnight.

Many businesses had shattered windows and glass doors. Graffiti on a broken window at Key Bank at Market Tower read, “I can’t use my bank account if I’m dead.”A CVS was torched and looted. Other stores, including a jewelry store and a cellphone store, were also looted. The city’s tourism arm, Downtown Indy, later estimated that more than 80 businesses were damaged between Friday and Saturday.

An IMPD patrol car was vandalized. Fires were set in trash cans. Three police officers were injured. And one person sustained serious injuries while kicking in glass and was helped by an IMPD officer, officials said.

Twitter Says “Traditional Dichotomy” of Platform vs Publisher Doesn’t Really Work Any More

The UK has been inserting itself into internal US politics as a group of members of the country’s parliament decided to urge the most influential social networks to censor President Trump. In what seems a clear-cut case of foreign meddling, even though it’s highly unlikely anyone will actually call it that, several MPs used a parliamentary committee meeting with representatives of Twitter and Facebook dedicated to online harms to press the giants to censor Trump’s speech.

Virginia Beach Police Release Details on Protest Arrests; Demonstrators Call for Investigation

Virginia Beach police on Friday provided more details on the dozens of arrests made during two protests earlier in the week in the city, as some demonstrators called for an investigation into tactics used by the department.

On the first night of protests — last Sunday at the Oceanfront in response to the death of George Floyd — 28 charges were filed by Virginia Beach officers, according to the information.

The following night at the city’s Town Center, the great majority of the charges — 26 — were for violating an 8 p.m. curfew that was issued by the governor a couple of hours before it went into effect. Two other demonstrations later in the week had much smaller crowds and didn’t involve any arrests.

At the Oceanfront event, three of the charges were for felonies, 24 for misdemeanors and one was for a traffic violation. The felonies listed included assaulting a law enforcement officer, breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony, and a subsequent offense of carrying a concealed weapon.

Italy: Migrants Brought by Sea-Watch Convicted of Severe Crimes

Three migrants were convicted in a Sicilian court recently for a long list of crimes, including torture, sexual violence, human trafficking, involvement with criminal organisations, and even murder. The three were all brought to Sicily last year by the infamous pro-migrant Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Sea-Watch, which is based in Germany.

The three were each sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment in a court in the Sicilian city of Messina, according to a report by Junge Freiheit. The migrants were a Guinean national, aged 22, and two Egyptians, aged 24 and 26 respectively.

Malta Takes in 400 Migrants Held on Pleasure Boats, For Now

ROME (AP) — Malta agreed Saturday to take in some 400 migrants who had been held on chartered pleasure boats at sea pending negotiations with European Union countries to accept them.

The government said in a statement that it was still seeking agreements to relocate the migrants elsewhere in Europe. But it said it decided to let them come ashore “after the situation onboard the vessels became very difficult and commotions arose.”

Netherlands: 1,000 Nigerian Migrants Vanished From Reception Centers in 2019

Close to one thousand Nigerian asylum seekers vanished without a trace from Dutch reception centers in 2019, prompting some to believe that many of those who disappeared have been trafficked.

The reports, obtained by Argos and the newspaper NRC Handelsblad from the Netherland’s Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA), indicate that many of the disappeared migrants — some of whom are pregnant women — could’ve been trafficked.

One in Six Residents in the North Aegean Islands Are Illegal Immigrants

15.5% of today’s population in the North Aegean islands are illegal immigrants compared to 1.4% in the South Aegean. With the exception of these two regions, whose islands are the first reception points, the distribution of illegal immigrants in the rest of Greece follows the government’s goal of not exceeding 1% of the total population of the region.

However, according to updated data published by the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, there are large discrepancies between the regions. Some regions being marginally in the target of 1%, such as Epirus, Central Greece, Central Macedonia and Attica, while in Crete and Western Greece, the ratio is only 0.1%.

At the bottom of the table is the Ionian Islands Region, where not a single illegal immigrant resides out of a total of 101,210 in the whole country.

UCLA Removes Lecturer for Questioning Proposal to Give Black Students Preferential Grading

In ordinary times, most academics would be skeptical of a student’s proposal to treat students differently in class based on their race.

These are not ordinary times, and it’s been years since they were on the typical four-year campus.

The UCLA Anderson School of Management has pulled an accounting lecturer from teaching because of his response to a student who asked for “special treatment,” in the lecturer’s words, for black students.

WHO Reverses Position on Face Masks as Coronavirus Cases Climb

The World Health Organization is now advising everyone to wear face masks in public when they can’t practice social distancing — an about-face from its earlier guidance on stopping the spread of the coronavirus.

WHO director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the shift Friday, citing new evidence that showed face masks worn by healthy people could be “a barrier for potentially infectious droplets,” the BBC reported.

WHO had always advised that sick people and their caretakers should wear medical face masks. The new guidance advises healthy people to wear non-medical face masks.

  1. I wonder how many extra rioters are on the streets because they have no job to go to because of the lockdown, and have money to travel because of extremely generous stimulus and unemployment benefits?

  2. The leftists just don’t get it.

The harder they riot and the louder they scream, the more they guarantee a tsunami of Trump Republican victories this November. People who work for a living are sick of the parasites calling us racists, fascists, and whatever else. And we’re pissed as hell at the communist retards who tear down everything we’ve worked so hard to build up. Believe me, if it came down to a shooting war right now, millions of Americans would be glad to join in the fight against this leftist uprising. It would be a great cleansing of parasites.

  3. The hour is late, but more information on U.K. Insanity.

This is the met police of Bristol again, sounds like it wasn’t just a “tactical” decision like he said earlier, he’s a sympathizer.
