At least six people were injured in a shooting on Friday night at a high school football game in Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
The game was already ended at the time of the shooting but the players were still on the field.

Florida Counties Order Evacuations for Hurricane Dorian
More evacuations were ordered for Florida’s East Coast as Hurricane Dorian slammed into the Bahamas as a powerful Category 5 storm on Sunday.
“This storm is one of the strongest storms that has ever threatened Florida,” Gov. Ron DeSantis told The Weather Channel on Sunday. “It’s now strengthened to where it’s stronger than what Hurricane Andrew was. It’s stronger than Hurricane Michael. This is a major, major threat to the east coast of Florida.”

Former FEC Member: Omar ‘Protected’ — for Now
The Federal Election Commission complaint alleging U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., improperly spent campaign funds on a lover apparently is no threat to the radical newcomer to Congress.
At least right now.
That’s because the FEC currently has only three members, and it cannot take any action without a quorum of four. Of the six seats on the commission, three are open. That means, according to former FEC commissioner Hans A. von Spakovsky, now a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, she is “protected — for now — against accusations of campaign finance law violations.”
He explained in a commentary on FoxNews.com that she “doesn’t need to worry for now about a complaint filed against her with the Federal Election Commission. Vacancies on the FEC make it impossible for the commission to take any action.”
He said the FEC is meant to be a government watchdog against election law violations, but it is “effectively muzzled and chained, helpless to act.”

NYC Bicyclists Are Killing Pedestrians and the City Won’t Stop it

Quebec Youth Adopt Islamic Customs in ‘Solidarity’ With Muslims
Canada’s French-speaking province of Quebec is seeing a new trend of young non-Muslim people adopting Islamic customs and holidays.
The new phenomenon was first noted by anthropologist Géraldine Mossière who found young people, mostly women, in Montreal who frequented Muslim associations and cafes and began to adopt Islamic practices without ever formally converting, La Presse reports.
According to Mossière, the subjects she met did everything from banning themselves from eating pork to celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
“These are young people who have experienced in school a cultural mix conducive to the integration of certain cultural beliefs. Sometimes they do it in solidarity with their Muslim friends. Those who do not go to conversion see Muslim practices as personal development, such as yoga or meditation,” Mossière claimed.

Austria’s Far Right Eyes Comeback in Polls
Vienna (AFP) — Austria’s far right, relatively unscathed by the so-called “Ibiza-gate” scandal that brought down its government in May, hopes for a second chance in national elections next month.
Former chancellor Sebastian Kurz’s conservative People’s Party (OeVP) could once again partner with the far-right Freedom Party (FPOe), said analyst Thomas Hofer, in a re-run of late 2017 when the two parties rose to power together on an anti-immigration platform.

German Far-Right Party Posts Best-Ever Results in Key State Elections
The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) came up short of victory in eastern state elections in Saxony and Brandenburg on Sunday, but still finished with its highest vote share ever, Politico reports.
Why it matters: The anti-immigrant, nationalist AfD is one of several far-right parties across Europe that have made significant gains at the expense of the political establishment, including in May’s European Parliament elections. Angela Merkel’s center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) remained the strongest party in Saxony with about 32%, while the center-left Social Democrats (SPD) held onto first place in Brandenburg with 27.2%, according to initial results.
Worth noting: The results are being viewed as a victory for AfD, but all parties have sworn not to work with the far right in a coalition government. That could be a difficult promise to keep, however, with vote share dispersed across a number of smaller parties.

A 33-year-old asylum-seeker from Afghanistan was arrested near Lyon, France on Saturday after killing 1 person and injuring 9 others in a stabbing spree.

Beijing Deliberately Using Fentanyl to Destroy U.S.
(Epoch Times) China is the United States’ largest source of fentanyl. Exiled Chinese businessman Guo Wengui revealed on his YouTube channel that fentanyl is actually the Chinese Communist regime’s “toxic weapon” in its covert warfare with the United States. The regime is fighting this war knowingly and willfully, and its intention is to use fentanyl to weaken, mangle, and ruin the United States.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. According to public data, in the 12-month period ending December 2018, synthetic opioid overdose deaths in the United States, mostly from fentanyl, increased to over 31,000 compared with the roughly 29,000 reported in the 12-month period ending December 2017.

Aldi hopes to cash in on the prosperity of China’s growing middle class. German products are in high demand in China. Germany is among the 10 largest exporters of food and beverages to the country. Until this summer, Aldi had only sold its wares to Chinese consumers via an online shop. Now, it has finally expanded to brick-and-mortar locations.
In China, only companies who behave are permitted to do business. Aldi’s managers know this. That’s why they don’t talk about freedom or democracy when asked about the situation in Hong Kong. EU Tariffs on Cambodian Rice Damage 500,000 Farmers
To protect its producers, the EU has imposed tariffs for three years on Cambodian and Myanmar rice. In just six months, exports to Europe have been halved. For Cambodia, the measure penalises producers of “jasmine and fragrant long grain rice” who “do not compete directly with products grown in the EU”. China is ready to support Cambodia’s economy and agriculture.
Phnom Penh (AsiaNews/Agencies) — Some 500,000 farming families face serious economic disruption because of tariffs imposed by the European Union (EU) on Cambodian rice, this according to the Cambodian Rice Federation (CRF).
European tariffs and the consequent decline in exports weigh heavily on Cambodian agriculture, already penalised by a severe drought in the first months of the year.
EU-Cambodian economic relations could also be affected by changes to Cambodia’s privileged trading status.
The EU in January imposed tariffs for three years on rice from Cambodia and Myanmar, in order to protect EU producers following a surge in imports from the two Asian countries.
For the first six months of this year, Cambodian rice exports to the EU fell by half compared with the same period last year, to 93,000 tonnes, the CRF reports.
“This has been acutely felt by most of the 500,000 families who eke out a living farming jasmine and fragrant long grain rice, in spite of the fact that these varieties are geographically specific and do not compete directly with products grown in the EU,” the CRF said in a statement.
The EU in February also started an 18-month process that could lead to the suspension of Cambodia’s special Everything but Arms (EBA) access, which gives almost developing 50 countries duty free access for all exports to the EU, except arms.
That process is separate from the rice tariffs and is due to European concerns over Cambodia’s human rights record. The EU takes more than a third of Cambodia’s exports, including garments, footwear and bicycles.
In April, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that China, his closest ally, would help Cambodia if the EU withdrew the EBA. China had also agreed to import 400,000 tonnes of Cambodian rice, according to a Hun Sen’s posting online.
Meanwhile, according to data from the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality, a joint private-government working group, rice exports to China have already risen 66 per cent in the first half of 2019 to 118,401 tonnes.

Hong Kong Protesters Defy Ban and Battle Police
Hong Kong riot police have used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon to disperse crowds as tens of thousands marched in the city, defying a ban.
Officers also fired live warning shots as they tried to clear the streets.
Protesters lit fires, threw petrol bombs and attacked the parliament building. A number of people were later held as they fled into metro stations.
Saturday’s event to mark five years since China ruled out fully democratic elections was banned in Hong Kong.

Pro-Democracy Protests Escalate in Hong Kong
HONG KONG — Hundreds of thousands of pro-democracy protesters filled the streets of Hong Kong island late on Saturday afternoon and into the night, flouting government bans imposed against public assembly.
Saturday marked the fifth anniversary of Beijing’s rejection of an appeal for universal suffrage for Hong Kong that ignited the 79-day “Umbrella Movement” in 2014.

European Dreams vs. Mass Migration
Europe presents itself as the vanguard of the unification of humanity. Europe’s cultural roots, as a result, have been put at risk. According to Pierre Manent, a renowned French political scientist and a professor at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in Paris:
“European pride or European self-consciousness depend on the rejection of European history and European civilization! We want nothing to do with the Christian roots and we absolutely want to be perfectly welcoming to Islam”.
Manent delivered these words to the French monthly, Causeur. He cited, as an example, Turkey:
“It was very clear that not only was its massively Islamic character (even before Erdogan) not an obstacle but a sort of motive, a reason to bring the Turkey into the EU. It would finally have been the definitive proof that Europe had detached itself and freed itself from its Christian dependence”.
Europe’s southern border is now the front line for this mass-migration; Italy risks becoming that refugee camp. In the last few months, Italy has faced a succession of boats from Africa, challenging its policy: first the Sea Watch 3, then the Open Arms and finally the Ocean Viking. Until just before Italy’s March 2018 elections, migrants were crossing the Mediterranean at the rate of 200,000 a year.

France: Military-Aged Afghan Migrant Kills 1 and Injures 9 During Stabbing Rampage in Lyon
A 19-year-old man was killed while nine others were injured after an Afghan migrant wielding a skewer and a knife went on a stabbing rampage in the French city of Lyon on Saturday.
According to police, it was unclear as to whether the 19-year-old murder victim had known the attacker. A police source said that the alleged assailant was an Afghan ‘asylum-seeker’ who was previously unknown to intelligence services and police.

French Identitarians Slapped With Six Months in Jail for Alpine Expedition
A court in southeastern France handed three leading figures of Generation Identity (GI), a right-wing youth organization, to six months in jail for engaging in a peaceful expedition in the Alps designed to bring attention to the migrant crisis.
The three right-wing activists were charged with “exercising activities in conditions that could create confusion with a public function” — a charge that surely does not warrant six months in jail.
Although prosecutors allege that the group’s stunt could have been misjudged as a police maneuver, it’s quite clear that charges are entirely politically motivated, and are meant only to inflict damage upon the growing movement.

Greek Police Detain 38 Migrants, 2 Alleged Traffickers
THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — Police in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki say they have arrested the driver of a van carrying 26 migrants — 23 of them from Pakistan and three from Bangladesh.
Police say the driver was an Albanian who tried to escape on foot after officers stopped the van early Sunday but was caught.

Municipality Inundated With Migrants Faces Tax Crisis as Native Swedes Flee
A Swedish municipality that took in one of the highest numbers of asylum seekers per population faces a crisis as natives move out and decimate the local tax base.
The municipality of Filipstad took in many asylum seekers during the migrant crisis of 2015 and now are facing increasing costs as unemployment among migrants has surged and financial assistance rates have tripled, broadcaster SVT reports.
Claes Hultgren, the local municipal manager, described the situation, saying of the migrant population: “In this group, unemployment and dependency are very high, while education levels are very low. This group runs the risk of ending in an eternal alienation that is already heavily burdening the municipal economy.”
“They are too old maybe and are illiterate, or have a very low educational level. We must then accept that there will be some people who will need the support of society for their livelihood,” Hultgren added.

Pope Names 13 New Cardinals, Including 2 Who Help Migrants
Pope Francis is giving the Catholic church 13 new cardinals, including two churchmen who have worked to help migrants and several others who toil in poor countries or nations where Christians are a minority.
Francis made the surprise announcement Sunday from his studio window overlooking St. Peter’s Square.

Dershowitz: The Dangerous Stalinism of the “Woke” Hard-Left
Civil liberties are in greater danger today from the intolerant hard-left than from the bigoted hard-right. This may seem counterintuitive: There has been far more violence — mass shootings in malls, synagogues and other soft targets — from extremists who identify more with the hard-right than with the hard-left. But the influence of the hard-left on our future leaders is far more pervasive, insidious and dangerous than the influence of the hard-right.
People on the “woke” hard-left seem so self-righteous about their monopoly over Truth (with a capital T) that many of them see no reason to allow dissenting, politically incorrect, views to be expressed. Such incorrect views, they claim, make them feel “unsafe.” They can feel safe only if views they share are allowed to be expressed. Feeling unsafe is the new trigger word for demanding censorship.
No university student has the right to be safe from uncomfortable ideas, only from physical threats, and any student who claims to be in physical fear of politically incorrect ideas does not belong at a university. The most extreme example of this distortion of the role of higher education took place at my own university when a distinguished dean of a Harvard residential college was fired from his deanship because some “woke” students claimed to feel unsafe in his presence because he was representing, as a defense lawyer, a man accused of rape.

Transgender Activists Terrorize Women’s Rape Crisis Center With Hateful Graffiti
Why would anyone vandalize a rape crisis center? What kind of a twisted mind would do such a thing? In this “brave new world,” where the feelings of transgender individuals trump commonsense and the privacy of everyone else, it appears that transgender activists have decided to oppose offering relief services for victims of rape, and shelters for women and children because of the strict “women only” policies that exclude men who claim to be women. “While it might sound odd to the uninitiated that those who claim to value ‘inclusivity’ and ‘acceptance’ would also be the same people who nail a dead rat to the door of a transition house for battered women, those of us following the gender identity debate closely are all too familiar with this type of occurrence,” writes Meghan Murphy at Spectator USA.
On Tuesday, Vancouver Rape Relief & Woman’s Shelter (VRRWS) tweeted images of vandalism left on their storefront — a space used for meetings, events, and support groups. ‘Kill TERFs,’ ‘F**k TERFs,’ ‘TERFs go home, you are not welcome,’ ‘Transwomen are women,’ and ‘Trans Power’ had been scrawled across the windows and door in black marker. ‘ TERF,’ for the blissfully ignorant, is an acronym that stands for ‘trans-exclusionary radical feminist.’ This is, of course, a misnomer. Radical feminists are not interested in ‘excluding’ trans-identified people from anything. What they are interested in is protecting certain spaces designated for women and girls.

It’s no surprise that the #MeToo movement has caused men to worry about the possibility of women in the workplace making fake sexual harassment claims made against them, just like what happened to Justice Kavanaugh last year.
Now, a new study has revealed that the #MeToo movement is actually hurting women as well, because professional men are afraid to hire women due to the fear of possible sexual harassment claims.

Women-Only Rape-Relief Shelter Vandalized by Trans Activists
This week, staff of the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter (VRRWS) in British Columbia found messages such as “Kill TERFS,” “F*** TERFS,” and — what else? — “Trans women are women” scrawled across their windows and walls. (“TERF,” for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist,” is a generally derogatory term for feminists who do not believe certain things about transgenderism.) This is not the first time something like this has happened. Three weeks ago, a woman seeking the shelter’s services was alarmed to find a dead rat nailed to the front door.
“The women who come to our support groups are rape victims and battered women,” says Hilla Kerner, VRRWS’s spokeswoman, who has worked at the shelter for 14 years. “One of them said to me, ‘Haven’t we suffered enough?’“

Re: “NYC cyclists…” We have the same problem here in London; cyclists like to portray themselves as victims, yet I see more of them behaving irresponsibly, and often illegally, than any other road users. “When I was a lad” (apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan), my parents would not allow me to ride on busy roads until I passed the “Cycling Proficiency Test” (now sadly defunct), which covered not only illegal behaviour (riding on pavements, jumping traffic lights, ignoring one-way signs) but dangerous and irresponsible behaviour (weaving through stationary traffic to get to the front).
In those far-off days, there were more cops on foot patrol, and ordinary pedestrians did not feel inhibited in reprimanding cyclists who misbehaved; now, we’re likely to be sworn at. I believe it was Robert A Heinlein who said that one of the signs of a civilisation in decline is the lack of basic manners and courtesy.
Yes, he said that. He also said an armed society is a polite society.
Having lived in the People’s Republik of Kalifornia, I had the opportunity to see the cycling mafia up close. The sense of entitlement was amazing; one would have thought them to be from africa if not for their arrogance and belief in their moral superiority as bad as any German. Greta Thunburg is a spiritual descendent, as convinced of her moral superiority because of her low-carbon virtue signaling and determined to rub it into the faces of everyone else.
