Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/18/2018

Mass “yellow vest” protests broke out again today in France. An estimated 46,000 people across the country took part, and there were more injuries during confrontations with police.

In other news, the Tories have fallen behind Labour in the polls as Prime Minister Theresa May’s “soft Brexit” makes her increasingly unpopular with voters.

Activist Threw a Fisherman’s Catch Back Into the Lake. Now, He Has to Pay.

CLEARWATER — A dying fish was flopping on a hot deck. An animal activist called throwing it back in the water an act of kindness. The state called it theft.

The value of St. Petersburg’s most internet famous flying fish? About $6.

Now, Michael Leaming will have to pay a $500 fine and court costs after a judge found him guilty of depriving Robert Hope of his dinner by launching a tilapia into Crescent Lake in July 2017.

Are California Democrats Also Cheating Their Way to Power?

What Democrats can’t win legitimately, they steal through cheating and fraud. And it appears the rest of the country has given up on California. Don’t believe me? Read on.

As American voters are watching the election fraud take place in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties in Florida, are California Democrats also cheating their way to power? Our state certainly isn’t immune from cheating, as evidenced in June 2016, when I was contacted by voters from all across California that their political party designations had been changed. “The electronic vote rigging in California appears to have been designed to keep Bernie supporters from electing him in the primary. And if they can steal an election in California, they can steal the Presidential Election,” I wrote about election fraud reported in California on Primary Election Day June 7th, 2016.

Expert: Florida Democrats’ Alleged Election Fraud ‘Potentially Grounds for RICO’ Investigation

An effort to allegedly add Democrat votes after Election Day in Florida is “potentially grounds for a RICO” investigation, an election fraud expert says.

The Government Accountability Institute (GAI) research director Eric Eggers exclusively told SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Tonight’s Senior Editors-at-Large Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak that a report revealing that Florida Democrats asked voters to submit absentee ballots after Election Day is a “smoking gun” and could possibly lead to a racketeering investigation.

Eggers said:

I spoke with a Republican attorney today who is quite familiar with this and connected to the inter-workings and they believe that it is not only the smoking gun, but it is potentially the grounds for a RICO case … this is not over. The first step is to get this out of the way. Let’s get the election certified and let’s get people sworn into office. But I think that this is a very real problem, ultimately whether it’s complete ignorance or an organized effort on behalf of the Florida Democratic Party to manipulate and violate the law … they sent altered forms out with the hopes that they could just get away with it because they could get some sympathetic judges who say, ‘Well, this is what the forms that these people received said so I guess we’ll have to go along with it.’ [Emphasis added]

At the end of the day, the basic argument in Florida right now is this: Should the laws that were in place on the day of the election be upheld. And the Republicans are saying yes and the Democrats are saying no. [Emphasis added]

Julian Assange has been locked away from the world in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for years now. He’s been kept away from the public and his family, simply because he exposes massive government corruption.

Middle Class Destruction: Suicide Rates Soar Among American Workers

During 2000—2016, suicide rates among American workers (aged 16—64 years) jumped 34%, from 12.9 per 100,000 population to 17.3, according to a newly published report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“Increasing suicide rates in the US are a concerning trend that represents a tragedy for families and communities and impact the American workforce,” said Dr. Debra Houry, director of the CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.

“Knowing who is at greater risk for suicide can help save lives through focused prevention efforts,” Houry said.

With the American workforce declining for decades, only now it this disturbing evidence of the catastrophic damage that has already been done being released.

Suicide rates are rapidly expanding in almost every state, as it now becomes the 10th leading cause of death in the US and is one of three leading reasons that are on the rise…

Snyder said the “deeper we dig into the numbers provided by the Social Security Administration, the more depressing they become.” Here are just a few examples from their official website:

  • 34% of all American workers made less than $20,000 last year.
  • 48% of all American workers made less than $30,000 last year.
  • 59% of all American workers made less than $40,000 last year.
  • 68% of all American workers made less than $50,000 last year.

In retrospect, it all makes sense as the inequality gap between the rich and poor is the largest that it has ever been since right before the 1929 crash, and America’s once-thriving middle class has been systematically eviscerated over the last thirty years.

Mike Huckabee Teams Up With Daughter for Interview, Utterly Destroy Jim Acosta

‘Basic minimum is if certain reporters like Jim Acosta can’t be adults, then CNN needs to send somebody in there who can be’

Sure, he may have gotten his press pass back, but Jim Acosta needs to acquire some big boy pants. That’s, at least, the message from White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who lambasted the CNN journalist in an interview on Fox News.

On Friday, Sanders sat down with her father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (I wonder how he ever landed that interview) and talked about the recent suspension and court-ordered reinstatement of the combative White House correspondent.

Racist Note Left on Kansas Student’s Door… Was Written by Himself

The note read, “Beware n***ers live here! Knock at your own risk.”

Kansas State University students were horrified after a student posted a picture of a racist note on the door frame of his home at Jardine Apartments. The note read, “Beware n***ers live here! Knock at your own risk.”

Immediately the calls went out (metaphorically speaking) to track down any Trump-supporters, MAGA-hat-wearers, or generally right-leaning members of the student community who MUST have been guilty of this horrible act.

WIBW reports that campus police began investigating the note, presumably with an open mind, and investigators say the student has admitted making the sign and hanging it.

Prior to the police determining the note was a hoax, Jeff Morris, K-State’s Vice President of Communication and Marketing, said acts like this are unacceptable and not tolerated at the University.

RIP Bill Godbout: Cali Wildfire Claims the Life of Master Maverick of Microcomputers

Silicon Valley legend dies in firestorm that has killed scores while more than 1,000 are missing

Obituary Bill Godbout, a maverick techie who played a pivotal role in getting computers into the hands of the masses, was killed this week in California’s wildfires. He was aged 79.

Godbout was a key figure in the personal computing revolution in the 1970s, at least in the US. Around the time Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were dumpster diving for manuals, source code, and documentation for their computer projects, Godbout was selling the parts for hobbyists to build their own computers at a price most could afford. He manufactured S-100-compatible cards, S-100 being the first industry standard expansion bus for microcomputers.

These cards formed the backbone of early systems like the Altair 8080 and homebrew machines, allowing techies to interface their processors and memory with peripherals and form useful microcomputers. This was at the time computers were typically big hulking beasts lurking in the bowels of corporations, government agencies, and academia, and not bedrooms and small offices.

As well as these accomplishments, it was the man’s sheer love of the technology that people remember most.

Teacher Banned for Thanking Students Standing During Pledge of Allegiance

‘I’m sure all of those families that lost loved ones so we could have freedoms we have today would appreciate that, too,’ says teacher

A long-time substitute teacher was told not to come back to his school in Missouri after he thanked students for standing for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Teacher Jim Furkin, 66, thanked students for standing for the pledge but at least one student who did not stand felt singled out and bullied.

It is a school district where school board members stand and recite the pledge at every meeting and where the Parkway South nickname is ‘Patriots.’

The PA announcer says please rise for the pledge of allegiance,’ Furkin told Fox 2. ‘I say let’s go. The kids get up, 24 kids in class and 22 got up.

“There are always two or three who don’t stand up because it’s not required. So at the end of the pledge I said thank you very much, all of you that participated. I appreciate that.”

One student asked to go to the counselor’s office, Furkin said. Later a school administrator questioned Furkin about what happened and told him that a student had been ‘hurt’ by what was said after the pledge…

Furkin said the staffing agency told him that he wasn’t being allowed back because he had ‘bullied’ a student.

‘To me personally, the flag represents freedom, and there’s a lot of price that’s been paid for the freedom we have today,’ Furkin said.

‘That’s all I’m saying to the kids. Could somebody feel offended by that? I would hope not’.

Furkin compared his action to complimenting the hairstyle of one board member but not the others and then being banned from future meetings because he’d bullied the other board members. The flag, he said, was a special case with him.

The Manchurian Counterfeit

Don’t let anyone tell you that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is another dumbbell added to the roster of liberal morons.

I have written several articles harping on the roles of television and the Internet in training up programmed humanoids that I call (the older of whom) ‘silver ponytails’ and (the younger that most all conservatives refer to as) ‘snowflakes’. We are today surrounded by a whole new ‘America’ that the lamestream media has been carefully nurturing, like a bonsai tree, for the past fifty years. I quote myself here (something I love to do), because I honestly can’t find too many other people talking about this 21st century phenomenon of the busted hope of America. In a previous article I identified millennials and their offspring as, “… a raw resource (the Left sees only fit) to be exploited, mined and kept in numbing and compliant conformity. Liberal media/entertainment has groomed them to buy and vote for anything that is in the trend they’ve built — politically correct just as mother tv has instructed.”

US House Reverses 181-Year-Old-Rule to Appease Newly Elected Muslim

Rule due to ‘blind spots’ of influential and powerful lawmakers, says Ilhan Omar

For 181 years, you haven’t been able to wear head coverings on the floor of the House of Representatives. Now, however, after the election of the first hijab-wearing Muslim representative, that’s about to be changed.

According to the New York Post, the election of Minnesota’s Ilhan Omar will put an end to a rule that was originally meant to differentiate Congress from British Parliament.

Parlimentarians had a tradition of wearing hats on the floor of Westminster. Given that we took up coffee as our national beverage (and even threw that dastardly tea over the sides of some ships in Boston Harbor) to let the British know how we felt about their institutions, banning hats only seemed to come naturally.

60% of Italians Think EU is Bad for Italy

If the European Commission does levy billions of fines against the Italian government (or enforce some other punishment), some “60 million Italians will rise up” against the trade bloc — or at least that’s what a clearly frustrated Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini told a group of Italian reporters following reports that the Commission could move to punish Italy as soon as next week.

The Italian people, Salvini added, would never accept those penalties, according to a report in Italy’s ANSA newswire. And according to the latest polling, there’s more than a little truth to that.

As the 27 EU members who aren’t the UK brace for the inevitable fallout for what increasingly looks to be a bumpy Brexit, one shocking poll revealed that 60% of Italians feel that their country has been mistreated by the European Union. If accurate, that’s several percentage points higher than the percentage of Britons who voted to leave the EU back in 2016.

Austria, Netherlands Asking US for Blood and Tears — Di Maio

(see related story on budget) (ANSA) — Rome, November 15 — Deputy Premier and Labour and Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio on Thursday criticised Austria and the Netherlands after they indicated they were ready to back the European Commission if it opens an infringement procedure against Italy over its 2019 budget. “When Austria and the Netherlands ask us to respect all the rules, they are asking for a blood-and-tears budget that is the exact opposite of what the Italian people asked from us on (general election day on) March 4,” said 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Di Maio.

“We are going to keep going because the alternative is to massacre pensioners even more, massacre the unemployed even more, massacre companies even more.

IMF Promotes Italy Halfway. EU Infringement? Who Cares

(by Massimiliano D’Elia) The IMF letter on the economic situation and maneuver, just presented to the Commission in Brussels, does not close the door to Italy, indeed! It is not displeasing to the Americans that the Italian government focuses on development and social inclusion. The objective of a powerful development, however, is achieved only with structural reforms capable of boosting productivity, with a modest and gradual consolidation of public finances, but capable of ensuring a constant decline in debt. Italy, highlight the experts, must eliminate the uncertainties on the sustainability of public debt. The IMF estimates that Italian growth will remain around 1,0% in the 2018-2020 range. Italy’s desired and estimated growth is instead 1,5% in the 2019 which is not in line with the FMI estimates, ie a growth equal to 0,7%.

On the other hand, as regards debt, the expert forecasts for the 2019 stand at 2,6% — 2,7% of GDP, that is between the Italian government’s target 2,4% and that of the EU Commission, 2,9%. The government yellow-green, then decided to pull straight and do not change line, no corrective horizon.

Let’s see, therefore, in detail the major points on which the IMF focused the analysis.

Public investments

The Fund promotes the decision to increase public investment and recognizes the importance of providing the country with a modern scheme of minimum income poverty, but recalls that international best practices fix the disbursements between 40 and 70% of the relative poverty level and they make sure they do not discourage work.

Pensions

“Interventions on pensions could increase pension spending and its weight on the younger generations that would undermine future growth policies, thus increasing unemployment”.

Revenue authorities

The American experts advise against using multiple measures such as the flat tax for the self-employed and other measures because the Italian problem is to increase the tax base. The only way is to create a virtuous and stable system that leads to definitive tax obedience.

Financial system

Also in terms of the financial and banking system, the Fund notes that the situation has improved a lot in the last two years. There are no corrections to make, but the IMF offers collaboration to reduce risks and push reforms on the road to stability and growth.

What will Italy do?

After an assessment by the IMF that does not condemn “in its entirety” the maneuver and the Italian accounts, the infringement procedure, banned by the EU institutions against Italy, is less scary. It should not be overlooked that next May there will be elections for the European Parliament and the possible start of an infringement procedure, against the Bel Paese, could provide a unique and winning for the election campaigns of all movements European populists. The government yellow-green, therefore, pulls straight because the start of a possible “infringement procedure” requires very long times to reach a possible final sentence, well beyond, then, the outcome of the European Parliament elections in 2019. The game is worth the candle !!!

How does the infringement procedure work?

After the rejection of the maneuver, the government has 3 weeks to send a new draft budget document on the basis of European rules and will have to receive the opinion of the Commission again.

The Community rules state that the Commission should present its own opinion on individual national budgets by the end of November, which is why a meeting has been organized to the 21 November.

If the government decides not to make any changes, the EU would proceed with the opening of an infringement procedure for excessive deficit and violation of the debt rule.

The infringement procedure could only be opened in the spring of the 2019, when the EU would demand a return from the excessive deficit, also specifying precise time brackets to be respected.

The process could therefore last a couple of years to end with sanctions in case of non-return of the excessive deficit.

This is a procedure governed by the Article 126 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. According to the 126 article, EU countries must demonstrate solid public finances and meet two criteria.

1.. their budget deficit should not exceed 3 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP)

2.. public debt (government debt and public sector debt) must not exceed 60 per cent of GDP

If the criteria are not met, the Council initiates an infringement procedure based on the Commission’s recommendations.

The procedure requires the country in question to provide a corrective action plan and corresponding policies, as well as deadlines for implementing them. Eurozone countries that do not follow the recommendations can then be fined.

The Italian government will most likely play this game at the highest risk for the country but also for the estate and credibility of its electorate.

However, faced with the constant rigor and austerity, signed by previous governments, perhaps today it is worth trying to create the short circuit needed to move the balance of the community no longer responding to the current political situation and new global challenges. We need to think seriously about a united Europe and not a Europe that continues to fight in the home, outside China, the US and Russia sneer in great secrecy.

Really united Europe will have to be a goal to be pursued to survive and it is no coincidence that Angela Merkel has once again proposed the establishment of a European Army.

Germany, France and Italy must stop playing, there is the future of the next generations.

Italy: Always Saying No Causes Illegal Fires — Salvini

Disagreement with M5S over waste incinerators continues

(ANSA) — Rome, November 16 — A disagreement between the Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and his 5-Star Movement (M5S) coalition partners continued on Friday after the League leader proposed installing waste incinerators for household rubbish in every province in the southern region of Campania. The illegal burning of waste in a big problem in Campania.

The M5S rejected the idea, with its leader, Deputy Premier and Labour and Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio, saying household waste was nothing to do with the illegal fires as the problem mostly regarded industrial refuse. “The percentage of trash collected separately for recycling is almost 20 points lower in Campania than in other Italian regions,” Salvini said.

“In 2016 Campania exported 300,000 tonnes of refuse to other parts of Italy and Europe at a cost of tens of millions of euros. There have not been any interventions for years.

“There are 13 waste incinerators in Lombardy that do not pollute, they produce energy and wealth.

“Those who only say No, all the time, provoke toxic fires and illnesses”.

Salvini’s call for waste incinerators across Campania has stirred “tensions in the government,” Di Maio said Friday.

“I’m sorry that Salvini has decided to launch into this row and create tensions in the government,” said Di Maio, who is also labour and industry minister.

“I’m sorry about this row over incinerators because it is based on an issue that should not be raised since it is not in the government contract.

“We have an environment minister (former regional Carabinieri commander Sergio Costa) who discovered the Land of Fires and knows Campania, so we entrust ourselves to him.

“My family lives there and I’m the most worried person”.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Danilo Toninelli, an M5S bigwig, said Friday the party was against installing waste incinerators across Campania but the dialogue with the League would continue.

“With the League we are talking, but we are against (incinerators)”, Toninelli said.

“The issue is not in the government contract to which we are bound and so we must find a synthesis”.

Costa also stressed that incinerators were not in the government contract.

“They want to penalize us, but this will end up being more damaging to the EU than to us,” League party leader Salvini told some Italian dailies.

“They are crazy if the really do open an infringement procedure.

“60 million Italians would rise up,” The European Commission may open an infringement procedure over the budget plan, which sees Italy running a deficit of 2.4% of GDP next year, saying it breaches the Stability and Growth Pact. The government has said an expansive budget is needed to finance key pledges and boost sluggish growth.

Italy: Boeri Shd Quit and Stand for PD — Salvini

‘Stop spreading ignorance and prejudice’

(ANSA) — Rome, November 15 — INPS pension agency chief Tito Boeri should quit and stand for the centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD), Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said after Boeri’s latest broadside against the budget Thursday.

“The president of INPS Boeri is in a perennial electoral campaign: he’s gone too far,” said Salvini after Boeri said funds were lacking for the government’s pension reform in the budget.

“He should quit, stand for the PD in the European elections and stop spreading ignorance and prejudice”.

Boeri has been among the sternest domestic critics of a package Brussels says breaks its Stability Pact and is expected to bring an infringement procedure.

Telecom Italia Names Luigi Gubitosi as New CEO

MILAN (AFP) — Luigi Gubitosi has been named the new chief executive officer of Telecom Italia, the company said Sunday, after former chief executive Amos Genish was ousted by the board.

Gubitosi, 57, has been administering a plan to turn around the ailing Italian flag carrier Alitalia, but also has previous experience as head of Wind Communications, a Telecom Italia rival, and the public television channel Rai.

He was presented as an “independent” candidate by the US investment fund Elliott, which was able to take control of the telecom operator’s board during a shareholder’s meeting on May 4, even though it owns only 8.8 percent of its shares.

The UK’s “Knife Crime Epidemic” Is Proof Bans Don’t Ever Work

As if more evidence is needed that bans don’t work, the United Kingdom’s knife crime ‘epidemic’ is soaring. Even though there are incredibly strict knife control laws in the UK, public officials are declaring the knife violence a public health crisis.

On Wednesday, London police responded to separate stabbings within hours of each other, the victims, a young boy believed to be in his teens and a man, were sent to the hospital with life-threatening or serious stab wounds, according to a report by Fox News.

Of the five people stabbed this week, the youngest was a 15-year-old boy named Jay Hughes. Hughes was attacked outside a chicken shop in broad daylight. And that perfectly explains the horrific epidemic. During the first six months of the year, police recorded 39,332 knife crime offenses which is a 12 percent increase over last year, according to the Office for National Statistics. Other violent crimes, including murder and robbery, also increased by double-digit percentages proving bans will never work.

As all of the victims are now powerless and disarmed, those who seek violent domination over others simply break the law and own the weapons used to hurt others.

Tories Fall Behind Labour as May Vows to Press on With Soft Brexit Plans

Two recent polls show the Conservative Party behind Labour as the prime minister says that she will return to Brussels to press ahead with her soft Brexit plan.

The Opinium Research poll, conducted November 14th, put the Tories at 36 per cent, three points behind Labour at 39 per cent.

In another poll by ComRes, the Conservatives are again at 36 per cent, four points behind Labour which is at 40 per cent, according to data collected between the 14th and 15th of November.

Prime Minister Theresa May continued her media blitz to sell her Brexit agreement — widely unpopular due to the Irish backstop locking the UK into EU customs rules — telling Sky News’s Sophie Ridge on Sunday that she has no intention of either backing down or renegotiating with Brussels.

UK: ‘Unjustifiably Excessive’: Not Even London Cops Can Follow Law With Their Rubbish Gang Database

Gangs Matrix led to ‘multiple and serious’ breaches of data protection rules, says watchdog

The Gangs Violence Matrix was set up by the Metropolitan Police in 2012 with the aim of reducing gang-related crime in the capital. People are given a risk score with a traffic light “harm” rating (red, amber or green) based on police info on arrests, convictions and other intelligence, including social media use.

If they can’t prosecute someone on the database for a specific gang-related crime, it allows cops to target them more generally, for instance through increased stop and search, or housing or immigration enforcement, which means sharing the information stored on the database — including names, dates of birth, addresses, ethnicity and police or partner intelligence information — with various private and public bodies.

This can have a significant impact on someone’s life, and has invoked the ire of campaigners. The ICO’s investigation was prompted by one such complaint, from Amnesty International.

Caroline Glick: Why Israel Let Hamas Win

Israel’s security cabinet’s decision Tuesday afternoon to walk away from the war Hamas initiated Monday and to accept a “ceasefire” is frustrating and infuriating. Hamas shot nearly 500 projectiles into Israel in under 24 hours. It blew up a bus with a Kornet anti-tank missile. Sixty Israelis were wounded, several critically. One civilian was killed. Numerous homes were destroyed.

Israel has never experienced any rocket onslaught from Gaza remotely as intense as what Hamas and Islamic Jihad shot off on Monday and Tuesday. And yet, rather than respond with equal — or better yet — far greater force and teach Hamas and Islamic Jihad a lesson they would long remember, the security cabinet sufficed with a couple hundred pinpoint air attacks, and then accepted the IDF’s advice and opted for the ceasefire. In so doing, they left the residents of southern Israel virtual hostages of Hamas and Islamic Jihad who have retained the capacity to attack them at will.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman’s sudden resignation on Wednesday may help his little party Yisrael Beitenu get reelected to Knesset in the next elections. But if it does, then Liberman will have won his political survival at Israel’s expense. Hamas is entirely justified in presenting Liberman’s resignation as proof that it defeated Israel this week.

Winners don’t quit. Losers do.

But beyond being frustrating and infuriating, the cabinet’s decision is a cause for deep concern. Why did the cabinet opt to stand down in the face of Hamas’s unprecedented onslaught?…

CIA Concludes Saudi Crown Prince Behind Khashoggi Murder: Reports

Washington (AFP) — The US Central Intelligence Agency has concluded Saudi Arabia’s powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was behind the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, US media reported Friday, citing people close to the matter.

The US assessment directly contradicts the conclusions of a Saudi prosecutor one day prior, which exonerated the prince of involvement in the brutal murder.

But The Washington Post, which broke the story, said the CIA found that 15 Saudi agents flew on government aircraft to Istanbul and assassinated Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate.

Dostoevsky Book Among Hundreds Banned in Kuwait

Saad al-Anzi, who heads the Kuwait international literary festival, said the information ministry had banned 948 books including Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, a novel set in 19th-century Russia that explores morality, free will and the existence of God.

Dostoevsky joins a growing list of writers banned in the relatively moderate Gulf state, where there is a growing conservative trend in politics and society.

The information ministry has blacklisted more than 4,000 books over the past five years, including Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez…

Amnesty Strips Aung San Suu Kyi of Its Highest Honor

Amnesty International announced it would strip Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi of its top award, saying it was “profoundly dismayed” at her failure to acknowledge the full scale of atrocities against the Rohingya people.

Before you are tempted to view this as some kind of principled, honorable move on Amnesty’s part, stop yourself and check out its dubious government and corporate funding sources, its selective support for the concept of free speech and the fact that it spends quite a bit of time soft-pedaling Western imperialism and its atrocities while magnifying the wrongdoings of the West’s adversaries.

Amnesty’s attempt to win plaudits for its decision to revoke Suu Kyi’s award has come after mounting calls for the controversial figure’s 1991 Nobel Peace Prize to be stripped from her. Nearly half a million people have signed a Change.org petition calling for the Nobel Committee to take back the award.

Poll: Support for Increase in Muslim Immigration Collapses in Australia

Australian voter support for a lift in immigration of Muslims has collapsed in the wake of last week’s Islamic State-inspired terror attack in Melbourne.

According to a Fairfax Media Ipsos poll, support for an increase in Muslim immigration dropped from 23 percent to a bare 14 percent between October and November, the Australian Financial Review reports.

Just 35 percent of those polled believe the intake should stay the same. Another 46 percent believe the intake should be reduced a lot or a little — a position backed by a clear majority of supporters of the governing conservative coalition and one third of Labor voters.

The survey comes after the Bourke Street terror attack by Somali immigrant Hassan Khalif Shire Ali and amid growing calls from some conservative members of Parliament to slash migration from Muslim-majority nations.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Declares War on White, Moderate Democrats

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez backed an effort Saturday by a group called the Justice Democrats, which opposes “Democratic incumbents who are demographically and ideologically out-of-touch with their districts.”

The Justice Democrats helped Ocasio-Cortez oust veteran Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in a primary in New York’s 14th congressional district earlier this year.

In a tweet, she supported the Justice Democrats’ new “#OurTime” campaign:

Since winning her election Nov. 6, Ocasio-Cortez has continued to challenge the Democratic Party leadership, joining a sit-in protest in the office of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) over climate change policy.

Though she has not yet taken office, Ocasio-Cortez is already committing to replacing many of her colleagues — apparently on the basis of race and ideology.

Italy: Salvini Says Going Forward on ‘Father and Mother’ ID Card

Minister says will ignore privacy watchdog’s view

(ANSA) — Rome, November 16 — Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has said the ministry is “going forward” on replacing “parent 1” and “parent 2” with “father” and “mother’ on electronic ID cards for children.

“We are going forward” despite the opposition of Italy’s privacy watchdog which is against the change, said Salvini.

“There is no privacy guarantor that can deny a child’s right to have a mother and a father,” he said. The Italian association of municipalities, ANCI, also came out against Salvini’s proposed change on Friday.

Family Minister Lorenzo Fontana, a League member, said “well done Matteo, you go forward on right things!”.

UK: School Has Seventeen Children Changing Gender as Teacher Says Vulnerable Pupils Are Being ‘Tricked’ Into Believing They Are the Wrong Sex

An astonishing 17 pupils at a single British school are in the process of changing gender, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Most of the youngsters undergoing the transformation are autistic, according to a teacher there, who said vulnerable children with mental health problems were being ‘tricked’ into believing they are the wrong sex.

The whistleblower says few of the transgender children are suffering from gender dysphoria — the medical term for someone who feels they were born in the wrong body — but are just easily influenced, latching on to the mistaken belief they are the wrong sex as a way of coping with the problems caused by autism.

The news of this latest Muslim murder is already 3 hours old and has thus been relegated to the back of the national newspapers where the general public will no longer be able to find it.

    • Look more closely at the article. There were ca. 280,000 protesters on SATURDAY, and 46,000 on SUNDAY, which was “today” when I typed out my intro.

  3. Jonestown: A blood soaked chapter some would have us forget.

Jerry Brown, California governor then as now, actually spoke at Peoples Temple. George Moscone, who owed his position as mayor of San Francisco to Jones, appointed Jones to San Francisco’s Housing Authority Commission, where he quickly became chairman.

Left-wing lawyers Charles Garry and Mark Lane depicted Jonestown as a paradise and aggressively defended Jones in the media. Jane Fonda joined other luminaries in expressing that she was “familiar with the work of Reverend Jones and Peoples Temple and have no hesitancy in commending them for their example in setting a high standard of ethics and morality.”

Herb Caen, a Pulitzer Prize winner who long served as one of San Francisco’s most admired newspaper writers, acted as a hype-generator for Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple.

The local enthusiasm for Jim Jones proved contagious for national Democrats. Rosalynn Carter called Jones at her husband’s behest. She held a private meeting with him, put him in touch with sister-in-law Ruth Carter Stapleton, and had the Peoples Temple leader introduce her at a 1976 campaign event. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/how-san-franciscos-democrats-made-jim-jones-and-then-made-his-memory-vanish

A few other names too connect with that cult, and ‘Kool aid’ in other ways, still seems to be imbibed.

It is a lesson to think on, as it seemed to be a passion, a fervency for a number of causes, that for a group of followers, lead to their deaths.

    • Oh, and BTW, you got the SLA out of Jim Jones as well. Randolph Hearst didn’t have a nice thing to say about him at all. Guess what happened. Lived through it and watched the ‘dream’ go south and shipwreck. It was then back to work at the salt mines.

  4. Re. Story about knife-crime in London.
‘[Comment: So, the muslim gangs are armed only it seems…]’

People seem to forget there are rather a lot of non-Muslim youths in these gangs and in London – I’d go as far as to say possibly the majority in gangs are non-Muslim (but they’re not known as ‘Christian gangs’), all that may be changing rapidly but for American readers, think Chicago, Detroit or Newark.

    • Don’t forget Los Angeles, Baltimore, Atlanta, St.Louis. Black-on-black crime was bad enough, but it was put on steroids by the Mexican drug gangs. They are infestering all the urban areas.

      • The case of London may be similar, but as with the Mexicans, religion doesn’t seem to be a factor.

Pat Condell posted a video on his Twitter feed a while back (I didn’t keep the link, stupidly), where a black former gang leader said the rise in knife crimes is due to traumatised youths from war zones such as Somalia who will stab someone just for looking at them the wrong way, rather than “just” turf wars between drug gangs.

  5. Maybe it is all those Tory ‘whips’ that voters are forced to Labour under that is causing the dissatisfaction.
