Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/22/2017

A man named Everitt Aaron Jameson, a.k.a. Abdallah adu Everitt ibn Gordon, has been arrested for plotting a Christmas attack in San Francisco. Despite the fact that Mr. Jameson is a Muslim convert, his nefarious plot obviously had nothing to do with Islam.

In other news, stung by criticism that it is helping the Libyan coast guard prevent migrants from leaving Libya, the Italian government is airlifting immigrants directly from Libya to Rome.

Delingpole: Christmas is Here, Everyone! EPA Officials Are ‘Leaving in Droves’

Environmental Protection Agency officials are “leaving in droves”, reports the New York Times.

More than 700 people have left the Environmental Protection Agency since President Trump took office, a wave of departures that puts the administration nearly a quarter of the way toward its goal of shrinking the agency to levels last seen during the Reagan administration.

What marvellous news to ease us all into the festive Christmas spirit, eh readers? …

EPA administrator Scott Pruitt is achieving what President Trump appointed him to do. He is draining the swamp.

As I’ve argued before, the EPA has always had less to do with protecting the environment — Colorado gold mine, anyone? — than it does with killing business.

Essentially, it is a communist sleeper cell introduced to the heart of the U.S. government system by Richard Nixon in the mistaken belief that paying Danegeld to your enemies will make them leave you alone.

FBI Foils San Francisco Terror Plot by Islam Convert Using “Vehicle and Firearms”

The FBI has arrested a Modesto, CA convert to Islam for what they say was a plot to attack San Francisco’s Pier 39 on Christmas using a combination “of a vehicle and firearms.” The suspect cheered the October 31, 2017 truck attack in New York City in which 8 people were killed, referenced President Trump’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem (“Al Quds”) as the capital of Israel, and said he was “ready to die” according to the FBI.

FBI: Man Planned Christmas Terror Attack for SF’s Pier 39

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Officials have stopped a man who they say was plotting a terror attack in San Francisco over the holidays. The 26-year-old reportedly stated that “Christmas was the perfect day” for a terror attack in San Francisco and “did not need an escape plan because he was ready to die.”

The FBI arrested Everitt Aaron Jameson, who is a tow truck driver and lives in Modesto. According to a handwritten letter obtained by the FBI, Jameson also referred to himself as Abdallah adu Everitt ibn Gordon.

Jameson appeared in court Friday, but did not enter a plea…

Meet the Recon Marine Vet Who is Now a Top Adviser for Mattis

A third-generation Marine veteran and partner on Wall Street has been confirmed as a right-hand man for Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

Owen West was confirmed on Monday as assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict in a 74-23 Senate vote.

In this role, he’ll serve as a key adviser to Mattis on issues like counterterrorism, unconventional warfare, direct action, special reconnaissance, and information and psychological operations.

He’s the son of Bing West, a renowned Marine Vietnam vet, author and a former assistant secretary of defense himself, in international security affairs, during the Ronald Reagan years.

“My dad, Bing, had his confirmation hearing before this committee in 1981,” Owen West said in a July nomination hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee. “Among the many inspirational lessons he imparted: Government service is the ultimate end state. A military officer’s lifetime responsibility is to take care of our fighting men and women.”

Nikki Haley Warns UN: Americans Don’t Want to ‘Pay for the Privilege of Being Disrespected’

by Joel Gehrke

World leaders rebuking the United States at the United Nations shouldn’t expect the American people any longer to “pay for the privilege of being disrespected,” U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley warned Thursday…

“In the case of the United States, we are asked to pay more than any other nation for that dubious distinction,” Haley told the U.N. General Assembly. “We have an obligation to demand more for our investment. And if our investment fails, we have an obligation to spend our investment in more productive ways.”…

Haley’s protest came amid a debate over a resolution condemning President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation,” she said. “We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations. And we will remember when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit.”

Obsessed With “Islamophobia”

The current government seems not to believe that Islamic terrorism in Canada even exists.

The RCMP guide is premised on the belief that radicalization occurs because of perceptions of “injustice” (not because of perceptions of jihad). Islamic groups are not mentioned. The message is that terrorism is “diverse” and has nothing to do with Islam. However, Public Safety Canada’s list of terrorist entities contains 54 terrorist groups, 46 of which are Islamic terrorist groups.

Meanwhile, the war on free speech in Canada grinds on: Ottawa Public Library cancelled the screening of “Killing Europe”, a documentary about, ironically, among other things, the death of free speech in Europe. Ottawa Public Library deemed this content not suitable for Canadians — apparently snowflakes, not allowed to know about the rise of migrant rape crime, anti-Semitism, far-leftist violence and other irritants in Europe.

While worried about graffiti, Canadian authorities appear far less concerned about deterring Canadian imams from preaching jihad, Jew-hatred and the murder of Jews to their Muslim congregations, despite Jews being approximately twelve times more likely to be targeted for hate crimes than Muslims are. For anti-Muslim graffiti, you go to jail for five months, but inciting an entire congregation to kill Jewish citizens does not even merit prosecution.

“Court Jihad”: How the French Justice System Assists Islamists

In France, all the circumlocutions for the word “terrorist” appear to have the same goal: to deny that Islamist terrorism is a coordinated movement and that Islamist warriors are mainly French citizens engaged in a war against their own country.

If you deny that terrorism is a war, you also logically have to deny that terrorists are supported, sheltered, transported and financed by a grey zone of supposedly peaceful French citizens.

In France today, the result of the denial of war is the “anti-racism” movement. Anyone who dares to question Islam or Islamism in its relation to violence and terrorism risks being hauled into court and tried as a “racist.”

Oxford Professor to Denmark’s Social Democrats: 135 Times More Expensive to Help Refugees in the West

Hosting refugees and migrants in Western countries is expensive. Accommodation, food and clothing, medical help, staff etc. is just so much more expensive that in the refugee camps and safe zones existing in or close to the refugees’ countries of origin.

According to Oxford professor Paul Collier, who spoke at a conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2017, Western countries can help more than a hundred refugees for the money that it costs to host just one refugee in the West:

“We spend 135 dollars for every person who shows up here, compared to one dollar for every person that we help in their own region. Those staying home are often much weaker than the ones who have the resources to get to Europe,” Paul Collier explained at the conference, that was arranged by the Danish Social Democracy Party.

Paul Collier, former chief of research in the World Bank, and advisor on Africa to former prime minister Tony Blair, also underlined that only very few of the migrants and refugees arriving to Europe, comes from dangerous areas:

“Almost everyone come to Europe from countries where they were already safe,” he said, according to Danish newspaper Berlingske[…]

“The idea that exactly this group has an enormous need for help is therefore simply irresponsible and a result of intellectual laziness,” Paul Collier said at the Social Democratic conference.

The Oxford professor, who refuses to be called “right wing”, made the following parting shot to the attending liberals:

“The Social Democratic parties have been taken over by a whole other group of voters, than the ones they were originally supported by. Not the ordinary citizen, but the educated academic elite who are foreign to the concerns of ordinary citizens and typically live in their own enclaves in certain big cities.”

Caroline Glick: The International Community and the Liberal Media

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley glared at her colleagues at the UN Security Council Monday as she cast the lone nay vote against a draft resolution presented by Egypt to nullify US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Haley then berated her UN colleagues for their assault against US sovereignty and for their prolonged efforts to delegitimize Israel and blame the Jewish state for the absence of peace. In her words, “The United States refuses to accept the double standard that says we are not impartial when we stand by the will of the American people by moving our US embassy, but somehow the United Nations is a neutral party when it consistently singles out Israel for condemnation.”

The liberal media, led by The New York Times chastised her.

“Punctuating America’s increasing international isolation, the United Nations Security Council demanded on Monday that the Trump administration rescind its decisions to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to put the United States Embassy there,” the Times wrote in a purported news article.

While attacking Trump and Haley for isolating the US, the Times and its colleagues failed to explain what an international community-aligned US foreign policy looks like.

Notably, just such a policy and its consequences were the subject of a 15,000-word investigative report published Monday morning by Politico…

Obama’s Alternative Facts on the Iran Nuclear Deal

We’re getting a glimpse of what the U.S. gave away in order to win Tehran’s pledge of cooperation.

By Eli Lake

When the Obama administration sold its Iran nuclear deal to Congress in 2015, one of its primary arguments was that the agreement was narrow. It lifted only nuclear sanctions. America, President Barack Obama told us, would remain a vigilant foe of Iran’s regional predations through sanctions and other means.

Thanks to stunning new reporting from Politico’s Josh Meyer, we can now assess these assertions and conclude that they are … well, “alternative facts.”

Meyer reports that while the U.S. and other great powers were negotiating a deal to bring transparency to Iran’s nuclear program, top officials in Obama’s government dismantled a campaign, known as Operation Cassandra, intended to undermine Hezbollah’s global drug trafficking and money laundering network.

A few months after the implementation of that bargain in January 2016, Operation Cassandra was ripped apart. Agents were reassigned. Leads and sources dried up. Bad guys got away.

Hezbollah is many things: a Lebanese political party, a militia and a Shiite religious movement. It is also an arm of Iranian foreign policy. Hezbollah shock troops fight alongside Iran’s Revolutionary Guard commanders in Syria and Iraq. Iran uses the group’s operatives for international terror attacks in Latin America. Hezbollah’s advanced arsenal is supplied by the Iranian state. Hezbollah’s drug trafficking provides the revenue it needs to spread mayhem. To curb that trafficking is to starve Iran’s primary proxy…

Twilight Over the “Palestinian Cause”

Reports from the West Bank after the Six Day War show that the Arabs interviewed defined themselves as “Arabs” or “Jordanians”, and evidently did not yet know that they were “the Palestinian people”. Since then, they were taught it. They were also taught that it is their duty is to “liberate Palestine” by killing Jews. The Palestinians are the first people invented to serve as a weapon of mass destruction of another people.

“The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality, today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese.” — PLO leader Zuheir Mohsen, interview in the Dutch newspaper Trouw, March 1977.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the European Union has become the main financier of the “Palestinian cause”, including its terrorism. They are also contributing to war.

Iran, strengthened enormously by the agreement passed in July 2015 and the massive US funding that accompanied it, has been showing its desire to become a hegemonic power in the Middle East.

The grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh, recently issued a fatwa saying that “fighting the Jews” is “against the will” of Allah and that Hamas is a terrorist organization.

Bombshell Report Reveals Up to 30% of Federal Inmates Are Illegal Immigrants

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released its findings on the immigration status of federal prison inmates, as mandated in a controversial Executive Order signed during the President Trump’s first week in the White House. The report reveals that of the 37,557 confirmed immigrants in the federal prison system, 35,334 (94%) of them are in the United States illegally — which means out of a total of 185,507, federally incarcerated individuals, over 19% are confirmed illegal immigrants — which, in 2014, cost U.S. taxpayers $1.87 billion to house.

  1. “ROME (AP) — Italy organized a first airlift of refugees from Libyan detention centers to Rome after coming under international criticism for helping the Libyan coast guard block migrants from leaving by boat.”

The “leaders” (I use the term very, very loosely) of a country import masses of low-skill, criminal migrants because they’re afraid of criticism?

I wish these guys had been bullied unmercifully when they were in school. At least there would be a plausible reason for this almost comic tragedy. But, unfortunately, no expression of aggression or manhood is allowed in schools, with prides of schoolmarms patrolling the playgrounds to make sure no masculine traits are expressed.

I guess another possibility is flat-out bribery. In a country like Italy, with rather skimpy pensions even for mid-level bureaucrats, a worried bureaucrat can’t do enough to ensure he will have a low-demand, high-paying consultant position with some left-wing or Saudi-connected foundation after he retires. Importing criminal Muslims and sub-Saharans is simply an insurance policy.

We also have the prospect of top EU officials threatening sanctions against Poland if Poland doesn’t accept its EU-assigned quota of criminal migrants. Perhaps Poland should consider arresting all EU officials within Polish reach, and charging them with criminal extortion. Of course, the EU would consider it a criminal action, but I doubt if the EU would have the fortitude to allow their officials to face actual consequences. Perhaps a deal could be struck.

    • Well said.

An early sale of the future of Italy in exchange for leftie or Saudi retirement assistance….

As the old slaveowners may have said after the invention of the cotton gin: with all this wealth and comfort coming to ME, how can this be wrong? I would bet that drug dealers and pimps will tell you the same thing now. Some lawyers and many politicians could tell you the same but they may not be that honest.

But many will still look back in history and wonder how people could let those bad things happen while failing to see the very same things that they allow before their eyes NOW.

      Seasons greetings to all.
