THIRTY years from now, Americans, Japanese, Europeans, and people in many other rich countries, and some relatively poor ones will probably be paying for their shopping with the same currency. Prices will be quoted not in dollars, yen or D-marks but in, let’s say, the phoenix. The phoenix will be favoured by companies and shoppers because it will be more convenient than today’s national currencies, which by then will seem a quaint cause of much disruption to economic life in the last twentieth century.
At the beginning of 1988 this appears an outlandish prediction. Proposals for eventual monetary union proliferated five and ten years ago, but they hardly envisaged the setbacks of 1987. The governments of the big economies tried to move an inch or two towards a more managed system of exchange rates — — a logical preliminary, it might seem, to radical monetary reform. For lack of co-operation in their underlying economic policies they bungled it horribly, and provoked the rise in interest rates that brought on the stock market crash of October. These events have chastened exchange-rate reformers. The market crash taught them that the pretence of policy co-operation can be worse than nothing, and that until real co-operation is feasible (i.e., until governments surrender some economic sovereignty) further attempts to peg currencies will flounder. Explosion, Major Fire Rocks DWP Power Station; 140,000 Customers Without Power
An explosion Saturday at a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power plant in the San Fernando Valley has caused a major fire and knocked out electricity to 140,000 customers.
The power outages hit businesses and residents in Northridge, Winnetka, Reseda, Lake Balboa, Tarzana, North Hills, Granada Hills, Chatsworth, West Hills, Canoga Park and Woodland Hills, according to the DWP. It’s unclear when power would be restored.
The loss of power comes at the peak of a heat wave that pushed temperatures to 100 degrees in many parts of the Valley. As of 9 p.m., the temperature in Woodland Hills was 84 degrees. Highs should reach into the 90s Sunday.
Firefighters were battling the blaze at 8900 Parthenia St. in Northridge. Parthenia was closed in both directions between Yolanda and Vanalden avenues, according to the fire department.
The cause of the blast, which occurred just before 7 p.m., was unclear, and the DWP released a statement on Twitter saying the entire plant was offline.
“Initial reports of fire affecting a major part of Receiving station involving 230 Kilovolt equipment. All power cut off to station for safety,” the DWP said.
The agency said the plant “carries high-voltage electricity and distributes it at lower voltages to customers in the surrounding area.”
No injuries were immediately reported.

Graham Unloads on Trump: Blind Spot on Russia ‘Undermining His Entire Presidency’
A senior Senate Republican on Sunday said President Trump’s plan to work with Russia on cybersecurity is “pretty close” to the “dumbest idea I’ve ever heard.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called Trump’s Friday meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin “disastrous” and said the president has a “blind spot” on Russia.
“When it comes to Russia I am dumbfounded, I am disappointed, and at the end of the day he’s hurting his presidency by not embracing the fact that Putin is a bad guy,” Graham said on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.”
“He is literally the only person I know of who doesn’t believe Russia attacked our election in 2016,” Graham said of Trump, who has said that “nobody really knows” whether the Russians were behind attempts to hack the 2016 presidential election.

IRS Shuts Down Mom and Pop Dressmaker, Sells Dresses Within Hours
‘Agents auctioned off, before their very eyes, the family’s entire life savings for pennies on the dollar,’ lawsuit says
The unmarked vehicles arrived in the morning. More than 20 armed agents poured out.
Hours later, Mii’s Bridal & Tuxedo was out of business after serving customers for decades. Its entire inventory of wedding gowns and dresses as well as sewing machines and other equipment were sold at auction.
The hastily-called sale held inside the store netted the IRS about $17,000 — not enough to cover the roughly $31,400 in tax debt alleged, court records show. The balance is now likely unrecoverable.
Mii’s, a small Garland business owned by an elderly immigrant couple from Thailand, was never accused in court of violating any federal laws.
The owners, Tony Thangsongcharoen, 68, and his wife, Somnuek Thangsongcharoen, 72, are fighting back. The Garland couple sued the government in federal court in Dallas in March for more than $1.8 million, alleging the IRS violated its own procedures during the tax seizure at the small storefront on Garland Road in March 2015.
“The agents auctioned off, before their very eyes, the family’s entire life savings for pennies on the dollar,” the lawsuit said.
Allegations of improprieties against the IRS for its asset seizures are not new. The agency has been under fire in recent years for seizing the bank accounts of mom and pop businesses due to their banking transactions.

New York Mayor Defends Decision to Attend Hamburg G-20 Protest
After facing a backlash for his decision to travel to Hamburg, Germany and speak at an anti-capitalist, protester-organized gathering on Friday outside the G-20 conference, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, who’s facing re-election this year, defended his decision, arguing that it’s up to local officials like himself to speak up on issues like climate change now that President Donald Trump has taken the US out of the Paris Accord, Bloomberg reports.
De Blasio, who left NYC the day after NYPD officer Miosotis Familia was assassinated in the Bronx, didn’t publicly disclose his plans to appear as the keynote speaker at the anti-capitalist rally in Germany until just hours before his departure. He left the city as New Yorkers were struggling with a deteriorating subway system, a spike in crime, uncollected bulk trash, an increase in homelessness, and myriad other problems. He also skipped an NYPD swearing-in ceremony for 524 new NYPD recruits, further damaging his already strained relationship with the police.

RINOs Oozing From Soros’ Swamp Named, Shocking!
Senator McCain first rose to national prominence on the issue of campaign finance reform. Everybody knows that our political system is so corrupted by money from special interests that it no longer represents the interests of the people; so this is pretty much a “mom and apple-pie” issue. So Senator McCain undertook the task of “taking the money out of politics,” and even founded a non-profit institute, called The Reform Institute to move the project forward.
But where does the optimistically-named Reform Institute get its money? Well, the donors list includes George Soros’ Open Society Institute and The Tides Foundation among others. Try not to be shocked that Arianna Huffington, a long-time Soros organizer serves on its advisory board. This will explain their liberal slanted news on the Huffington Post.
Just to show how loyal the esteemed Mr. Soros is to his loyal minions like John McCain, Ms. Huffington actually organized a series of Shadow Conventions for fundraising for McCain prior to his previous campaign for president, for which Soros contributed about a third of the funding.
In the wake of the passage of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Bill, was corruption reduced? Of course not. All that happened was a bunch of so-called 527 groups funded by George Soros had free reign to do whatever they wanted while pro-constitution advocacy groups like the NRA were muzzled. (1) This “side-effect” of the bill was utterly predictable.

Savage “Knockout Game” Attack Captured on Surveillance Camera
Last Saturday, a white male in Cincinnati, Ohio was hospitalized after a random “ knockout game” style attack. Will Griffith, 54, was walking down the street when a black male sucker punched him in the head from behind. The attack was caught on video.
The victim woke up in the hospital with fractures to his jaw and skull. Police have now arrested Keith Capell. They charged him with felonious assault and possession of heroin.

Security Risk: Meet Senator Chris Murphy’s Long-Time Communist Party USA Staffer

Is it okay for a United States senator serving on the Foreign Relations Committee to employ an aide who is a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA)? What could be the security implications of such a relationship?
For several years, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) employed CPUSA member Maxwell Goldman in a variety of positions.
Maxwell Goldman started as a field organizer for Murphy’s campaign in April 2012, and continued employment until at least September 2016, when he worked as a senior outreach assistant at the senator’s Hartford, Connecticut office.
He then left briefly to serve as field director for Friends of Elizabeth Esty until November 2016. (Esty is a Democrat congresswoman representing the 5th district of Connecticut.)
Goldman earned a philosophy degree from Tufts University in 2010. At Tufts he was a leader of the far-left Jumbo Janitor Alliance, which had close ties to several Massachusetts state politicians including to then-state Rep. Carl Sciortino and state Sen. Pat Jehlen.

Swamps, Deep States and Core Problems, Part 1
We don’t really know what the Deep State is… just that it’s a group of people (most people say they are from America’s Intel community… FBI, CIA, NSA, etc.) who are so arrogant they believe they know better than the millions of voters who put Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office who should be there — and they don’t think it should be Trump.
The people who make up the Deep State have yet to realize their arrogance is the worst form of tyranny. At the moment they think they are saving us from ourselves… at least that’s what they tell themselves. That’s what all tyrants tell themselves and it’s what they tell those they want in servitude to them. Remember the number one job qualification for spies: Good liar.
Most people thought that when Candidate Trump said “I’ll clean the swamp” it meant that President Trump would have to terminate a few bureaucrats and get voters in a couple of states to retire this Senator or that Representative…
It came to me as I watched an interview of Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) by one of the best investigative reporters in the universe, Sharyl Attkisson. Here’s a link to the Chaffetz video.
Representative Chaffetz spoke truthfully and from the heart in that video. He gave us his honest reaction to Washington, D.C. He came to the nation’s capitol and invested ten years of his young life to make things better. What Chaffetz in essence said is: “If you are a moral, intelligent, informed and capable human being who wants to help make America the best it can be, you won’t be able to stay for long because of the swamp in which you must live.” Those are not the words he used, but if you listen closely that’s what he said.
There is your core problem. This is what is wrong with America’s system of governing. As it is in Western Europe, the established system holds no appeal to the young, the honest, the intelligent, the moral people who want to serve America as our founders envisioned.

The Age of No Privacy: The Surveillance State Shifts Into High Gear

The government has become an expert in finding ways to sidestep what it considers “inconvenient laws” aimed at ensuring accountability and thereby bringing about government transparency and protecting citizen privacy.
Indeed, it has mastered the art of stealth maneuvers and end-runs around the Constitution.
It knows all too well how to hide its nefarious, covert, clandestine activities behind the classified language of national security and terrorism. And when that doesn’t suffice, it obfuscates, complicates, stymies or just plain bamboozles the public into remaining in the dark.
Case in point: the National Security Agency (NSA) has been diverting “internet traffic, normally safeguarded by constitutional protections, overseas in order to conduct unrestrained data collection on Americans.”
It’s extraordinary rendition all over again, only this time it’s surveillance instead of torture being outsourced.

The Reality of the Federal Government’s Land Grab
Not many Americans realize just how much land the federal government claims to have ownership of. In the United States, the federal government has been systematically taking over the west, and the land grab looks bleak and tyrannical.
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that when the government declares ownership over land, they also dictate what others may do with said land, often burying the economy in burdensome paperwork and regulations. And based on the map above, Nevadans have it the worst. Today, the federal government claims to “own” or hold approximately 640 million acres of land or 28 percent of the 2.27 billion acres of land in the United States. Around 92 percent of all the federally owned acres are in the West. According to shocking statistics published by Ballotpedia, the federal government collectively owns 47 percent of all land in 12 western states. Interestingly enough though, states East of the Mississippi River are, for the most part, less controlled by the feds, with only 4 percent of all land owned by the government.
Given the very poor management of the federal government in every aspect, many states in which the feds claim ownership of vast amounts of land, are calling for a reduction in federal land ownership and for the control to be transferred to the states.

Woman Killed, 8 Wounded at Gender Reveal Party for Pregnant Woman in Ohio
Authorities say two men opened fire on a party where a pregnant woman revealed her child’s gender, killing one person and wounding eight, including the expectant mother and three children.
The pregnant woman tells WXIX-TV she lost her baby after being shot in the leg around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in Colerain Township, near Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the woman told guests before the shooting it was a boy.
A Colerain Township police spokesman says only one of the wounded had serious injuries. Spokesman James Love says the motive for the shooting is unknown. He says witnesses saw the gunmen run down the street afterward. They remain at-large.

John Ivison: Khadr Apology Likely to Unite Canadians, But Not How Liberals Hoped
Awarding Khadr $10.5M has made Conservatives incandescent, and many Liberals uncomfortable. It could have a far-reaching impact on the political landscape
The Omar Khadr case has left Canadians deeply divided, said public safety minister Ralph Goodale as he made a statement of apology Friday to the former child soldier.
He might have had a point in 2015, after Khadr’s release from prison — one Angus Reid Institute poll at the time said 55 per cent of Canadians agreed Khadr “remains a potential radicalized threat,” while 52 per cent agreed he had “served his time.”
But voters are likely to be more united by the news that Khadr has received an official apology — and not in the way the government might wish.

Mark Steyn: The First Post-National Holiday
The Governor General now insists on beginning every speech in the viceregal residence with “We are all gathering here today on the traditional territory of the Algonquin people.” Not to be out-pandered, the Prime Minister’s hyperpartisan advisor Gerald Butts enthusiastically Tweets out the reconquista hashtag of the teepee squatters: “#Reoccupation” — a risibly unconvincing bit of me-tooism from the Dauphin’s chief courtier. What’s the point, unless both Johnston and Butts are planning on buggering off out of Rideau Hall and 24 Sussex? The whinging natives rightly see these hollow gestures as empathy on the cheap …and everybody else gets turned off, on the very reasonable suspicion that officialdom is colluding with the permanent grievance-monger class to blame everything on them.
A national celebration of collective guilt is a hard act to pull off. An historical anniversary on which it’s unsafe to mention any history doesn’t leave a lot else. I tried to follow along, really I did. At one point on Saturday there was a fulsome introduction in both official languages, all about multiple Grammy awards, for Shania Twain. And I assumed she was going to launch into “Man, I Feel Like A Cisgender Woman” or some such. Instead, having been introduced at length, she herself introduced a video of two young girls — one anglophone from out west, the other a francophone from Vaudreuil, of Arabic background, in a wheelchair. They were talking about space. Then Shania brought them out on stage, and then Justin came on and introduced the man and woman who had been “chosen” as Canada’s next astronauts. So then they came out and stood around for a bit.

Mark Steyn on the Canada Day Flop

The Khadr $10.5 Million and Ruling Class Rot
Omar Khadr, whose father Ahmed was a bagman for Osama bin Laden. Son Omar was not a member of Canada’s armed forces and not fighting alongside Canadian forces. He trained and volunteered to fight with a terrorist army against Canadian allies from the United States and Afghanistan.
He pleaded guilty to five war-crime charges and after serving some 10 years in Guantanamo signed a deal allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence in Canada. He was released in 2015 and is now reportedly living comfortably in Edmonton. He will get $10.5 million but a ballpark figure for what he deserves is zero.
Canada’s few remaining World War II veterans would be more worthy recipients, accompanied by an official proclamation of thanks for defeating the German National Socialist regime.
Consider also Kevin Vickers, the Canadian House of Commons sergeant-at-arms who in 2014 shot dead terrorist Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who had already murdered a Canadian soldier. Or how about the Canadian sniper who recently took down an Islamic State jihadi at 3,540 metres, a new world record.
All these would be better recipients than Omar Khadr. As Michael Friscolanti noted in MacLean’s, “not once does Khadr accept even a shred of responsibility for his lot, consistently shifting the blame to everyone else.”
The Khadr bonus is an affront to Canada’s taxpayers and those who serve in Canada’s armed forces. On the other hand, this loathsome action reveals a deeper dynamic.
The surest sign of a rotten ruling class is the inability to distinguish between allies and enemies, and the refusal to link actions and consequences. The $10.5 million gift to Omar Khadr is certain to boost jihadists’ recruitment drive but will not spare Canadians from terrorists’ wrath.

It is figures from Eurostat that show that hundreds of thousands of older Swedes, namely 355,000 pensioners, live below what is considered to be the poverty line.

Britain First Supporter Calls for Merkel to be Shot for Refugee Policy
A prominent Britain First supporter has advocated gunning down Angela Merkel because of Germany’s policy of allowing Muslim refugees to settle in Europe.
Marian Lukasik, a far-right activist, said the German chancellor should be shot “to pieces” after allowing Syrian and Iraqi people to enter Germany.
Footage of his comments has been uploaded to YouTube as part of an interview which has been viewed thousands of times.
It comes days after a man, reportedly with rightwing views, was charged with planning to assassinate the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and one year on from the murder of the Labour MP Jo Cox, who was killed by a far-right activist who shouted “Britain First” before shooting and stabbing her.

France Renews State of Emergency for Sixth Time, To Close More Mosques
he French parliament has voted to extend a state of emergency in France for the sixth time, with the government announcing that it would be closing three more mosques as part of the measure.
On Thursday, French lawmakers voted 137 to 13 to extend the measure until November. It had been extended five times already.

ANC Leaders Debate Confiscating White Assets Without Compensation
A heated six-day ANC Policy Conference ended today. The ANC appears fully committed to a program of “radical economic transformation” that will include the redistribution of white-owned assets to blacks. South African President Jacob Zuma railed against “white monopoly capital,” which he called “the primary adversary of the collective interests of our people.”
There was a huge controversy over how whites should be compensated for expropriated assets. The younger members tend to support zero compensation. Older members tend to support some compensation. A white ANC MP, former Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom, was shouted down by members of the ANC Youth League. Hanekom is a leading ANC opponent of confiscation without compensation. The Youth League packed the audience during his speech and screamed insults. The speech descended into a shouting match.
The Youth League issued a statement warning the ANC’s “old guard” that membership will be liquidated if they don’t return to the historical mission of the ANC. They characterized white monopoly capital as “the enemy of the revolution.” They also want Derek Hanekom to be disciplined.
Zuma told the crowd “We agree that using the fiscus for land redistribution must be accompanied by other measures if we are to achieve the goal at the required pace.” He followed with “where it is necessary and unavoidable this might include expropriation without compensation.”…
The ANC fears losing more ground to the new Economic Freedom Fighters [EFF]. This is a party is run by Julius Malema, the former president of the ANC Youth League. It was founded in 2013 and its supporters are disproportionately young and male. The EFF’s subscribes to Sankarism, after the former Communist dictator of Burkina Faso Thomas Sankara. The EFF openly calls for the confiscation of white assets without compensation.

Dean Hutton is a morbidly obese art student who calls himself “gender non-binary.” For a University project, he made a “F*** White People” poster and spray painted a pair of old shoes. He also had his “F*** White People” poster sublimation printed onto a giant suit of polyester clothes, which he wears.
Hutton is white, but openly expresses a dislike for white people in general. He claims to be the victim of “hurtful comments about my fat, queer body.” Hutton advocates the “white privilege” conspiracy theory, which says that white people are responsible for the short-comings of other races. He says that black people can’t be racist against whites.

Italy Makes Demands for Migrant Rescue NGOs Wanting to Use Ports
The Italian government has released its eleven-point migrant code of conduct which must be followed by pro-migrant NGOs or they will not be allowed to use Italian ports.
At a meeting on Thursday in Estonia, the Italian government handed in a list of 11 rules that must be followed by pro-migrant NGOs in what they call a new “code of conduct”. The rules come after a huge surge of migrants landing in recent weeks with one 48-hour period seeing 13,500 migrants arrive in the country, Kronen Zeitung reports.

In 2015 there were 7254 assisted deaths (6672 euthanasia deaths, 150 assisted suicide deaths, 431 termination of life without request) and 18,213 deaths whereby the medical decisions that were intended to bring about the death…
The 431 terminations of life without explicit request, was up from 310 in 2010.

City of Saskatoon, Canada Promoting “White Privilege” With Tax Dollars
“ White Privilege” is a conspiracy theory that blames white people for the shortcomings of non-whites. The terms “ white privilege” and “ check your privilege” as used, almost like racial slurs, to denigrate, stereotype, and scapegoat all white people.
Now the Canadian city of Saskatoon is using public tax dollars to promote this incendiary ideology. They have already spent $14,000 for the campaign in 2017. They have placed advertisements inside restaurants and bars, ads at bus stop shelters, and even giant billboards.
One of the billboards features local resident Jim Williams and a quote about recognizing his own white privilege. Another features a mixed race woman claiming she is viewed as less important than white people. Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark, and Director of Community Development Lynne Lacroix are defending the racially divisive billboards.
Saskatoon also published a large number of videos of local residents blaming white people for the shortcomings of non-whites. Saskatoon is 83% white and about 10% Indian or Indian/white mixed. Most of the rest are Asian. “ Anti-Racism” leaders in Saskatoon are specifically blaming white people for making the Indian community less successful.
The official Saskatoon website is promoting videos by Tim Wise. This is a Jewish-American author who has become wealthy promoting the “ white privilege” conspiracy theory. Wise has publicly confessed to being a former criminal. He says he operated a “ fake id mill” while he was in college.
Wise has also publicly advocated violence. In 2012, he called on his followers to shoot members of the Tea Party movement in the face.
