The big story of the day was an early-morning mass shooting in Alexandria, Virginia, that targeted Republican members of Congress who were at a baseball field practicing for a charity game. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) was wounded, and remains in critical condition after surgery. Several other people, including a congressional staff member and two police officers, were also wounded. Police shot the perpetrator dead. The late gunman was a progressive supporter of Bernie Sanders who had worked for Sen. Sanders’ presidential campaign last year, and had posted rhetoric on Facebook about destroying Donald Trump.
In other news, the official death toll after this morning’s fire at Grenfell Tower in London has risen to twelve. Given the number of people who are still missing, the toll is expected rise further.

Illinois Economic Growth is Worse Than During the Great Depression
Illinois’ total state economic activity has increased by only 4 percent since 2007, which is lower than the U.S.’ 10 percent GDP growth during the worst decade of the Great Depression.
There are fewer Illinoisans working today than there were 10 years ago. Millions of Illinoisans are feeling the brunt of the state’s economic pain and financial meltdown in the form of joblessness and hopelessness. Too many families are dealing with unemployment and underemployment, and too few are able to find their dream jobs in the Land of Lincoln. That’s because Illinois has the Great Depression economy of the Midwest.

A gunman unleashed a barrage of gunfire Wednesday at a park in Alexandria, Va., as Republican members of Congress held a morning baseball practice, wounding five people, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (La.).
President Trump said the suspected gunman — identified by multiple law enforcement officials as James T. Hodgkinson III, 66, from Illinois — was killed in a shootout with police, two of whom were wounded in the gun battle.
The wounded also include a congressional aide and a lobbyist.
As people offered prayers for the victims, a profile began to emerge of Hodgkinson, a onetime home inspector. A Facebook page belonging to a person with the same name includes pictures of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and rhetoric against President Trump including a post that reads: “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”

(Natural News) Congressman Steve Scalise and three other victims were shot in an attempted mass shooting carried out today by an enraged, hate-filled left-wing domestic terrorist.
“House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was among at least four people wounded Wednesday morning when a gunman sprayed bullets during a congressional baseball practice at an Alexandria, Virginia, park,” reports NBC News. Five people were taken to local hospitals, with two reportedly listed in critical condition.
Police officers were able to return fire, striking the shooter at least once and eventually leading to his arrest. The extent of his injuries are not currently known, but he has been identified as a Bernie Sanders supporter. His name has been reported by the Washington Post as James T. Hodgkinson. The hate-filled left-wing media — which I have described as being routinely engaged in journo-terrorism — are deliberately spreading hatred, bigotry, intolerance and violence in order to radicalize domestic terrorists to murder Republicans.
This is deliberate. It’s not coincidence. It’s all part of the hatred “programming” now being carried out by the left-wing media and its hate pushers who are trying to drive America into a civil war:
Kathy Griffin recently promoted a video showing a bloody, decapitated head of President Trump, demonstrating ISIS-style tactics for murdering your political opponents. The message? It’s okay to kill Republicans, and especially Trump. The New York Times is openly sponsoring a NYC theater featuring a play that depicts the on-stage murder of President Trump. American Express is also funding the play and has refused to pull its funding, insisting that financially supporting public depictions of murder against a Republican president is somehow completely acceptable. Prominent members of the left-wing media routinely praise the idea of President Trump being murdered or killed. For example, the LA Times employs a writer who openly hopes that Trump will be murdered. This writer wasn’t even fired by the LA Times.

UK: Ramadan Rage: Muslim Who Ran Down Five Men With His Van Praised as ‘Good Family Man’ By Judge
A judge at Leicester Crown Court praised a van driver who deliberately mounted a pavement and ran down five men during Ramadan as “a good family man” who was behaving “completely out of character”.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror newspaper, 26-year-old Lugman Aslam, of Warren View, Leicester, had gotten into a physical altercation with the men after backing his van into one of them, during which he alleged he was racially abused.
Recorder (circuit judge) Justin Wigoder described how, following this incident, a vengeful Aslam returned to his van, mounted the pavement and ploughed through the group, in order to “get [his] own back”.
“I’ve seen it on CCTV and you deliberately mounted the pavement and drove straight at them and right through the middle of them at speed,” Wigoder said…
However, the judge then went on to say that he accepted the potentially deadly attack “was completely out of character” for the perpetrator, whom he praised as “a good family man” with glowing references.
“You’re of very positive good previous character and I’ve received a considerable number of references setting out all the good that is in you,” he said.
Nadeem Aullybocus, defending, explained that Aslam “was fasting [for Ramadan] on that day and had been doing so for about 20 days” when he carried out the attack.

RIYADH: A homemade explosive device has killed a senior Saudi police officer in a Shiite town where deadly violence has flared in recent weeks, the Interior Ministry said yesterday. Major Tariq Al-Alaqi was killed and two other policemen were wounded in the blast late Sunday in Awamiya, the ministry said in a statement. They were patrolling the town’s Almosara neighborhood, where unrest has escalated in recent weeks around a redevelopment project in the old district. Alaqi is at least the fourth person to have been killed in the violence. The Interior Ministry has said criminals involved in the drug and arms trade were implicated in the unrest.
Last month, gunmen killed two civilians and a rocket-propelled grenade left a policeman dead in the area. The United Nations has urged Saudi Arabia to halt demolition of the 400-year-old Almosara district, which it says has caused “injury, deaths and material losses to the civilians”. Awamiya, in Eastern Province, has seen repeated security incidents in recent years, following protests that began in 2011 and developed into a call for equality. Kuwait: Jihadist Gets Life Sentence for Attacking US Soldiers
US troops in Kuwait targeted by Islamic State
The Criminal Court yesterday handed a life term against an Egyptian truck driver who is a member of the Islamic State for attacking US soldiers, as the Court of Cassation confirmed tough jail terms against an eight-member IS cell. The court found Ibrahim Sulaiman, 28, guilty of trying to kill US soldiers stationed in the country after he rammed his truck into a car carrying three US soldiers in October.
The US Embassy in Kuwait described the incident as a “terrorist attack”. The American soldiers escaped unhurt while the driver sustained minor injuries when his truck caught fire as a result of the collision. The Interior Ministry said after the incident that it found with Sulaiman a letter in which he pledges allegiance to the Islamic State. Police also found a belt and materials suspected to be explosives. The case will now go to the Court of Appeals.
In the meantime, the Court of Cassation, whose rulings are final, yesterday upheld a 20-year jail term on Fahad Farraj, the supposed leader of the Islamic State in Kuwait. The court also upheld 15-year jail terms against two others and 10-year jail terms against five more who together formed the so-called Jahra Daesh cell. The men were charged with fighting in Iraq and Syria under the Islamic State, raising funds for the group and training on the use of firearms in Kuwait.

Venezuelan Police Resort to Robbing Civilians, Including Breitbart Reporter

The officials confiscated my camera, claiming they needed to examine it and the process could take up to two hours, despite my flight leaving within an hour. I would never see the camera again.
Initially, it was easy to dismiss the confiscation as a precaution against rogue journalists exposing the true devastation socialism has wrought in Venezuela. But look at recent reports in Venezuela suggests these “confiscations” — outright thefts of valuables by officers of the law — are not uncommon. And while I can afford another camera, the Venezuelan civilians most often experiencing this crime are struggling to survive amidst the country’s political and economic crisis.
The truth is that the soldiers are struggling to survive, too, resorting to stealing from anyone they apprehend who happens to carry a valuable. Lower-ranking soldiers, Venezuelans told me, earn the minimum wage, $43 a month, while forced to use their authority to silence political dissidents. Thefts have become so common that, this week, the country’s defense minister Vladimir Padrino López warned armed forces against excessive force, saying he did not want to see “one more national guardsman committing an atrocity on the street.”

Poland, Czech Rep. Fight EU Migrant Sanctions
Poland and the Czech Republic have slammed the European Union’s (EU) decision to ‘sanction’ them for rejecting compulsory migrant quotas, with the latter citing “security” issues and promising to defend the right to reject migrants.

Three Syrians Allegedly Sent to Germany by Islamic State Go to Trial
BERLIN (AP) — Three Syrian men alleged to have been sent to Germany with forged passports by the Islamic State group have gone on trial in Hamburg.
The men, aged 18, 19 and 26, arrived in Germany at the end of 2015, at the height of the influx of migrants. They were arrested at homes for asylum-seekers in September.

Congrats to Poland and Czech Republic (and Hungary). Why should ANYONE have to “take in” muslims? Does nobody remember the original Gates of Vienna? I have a suggestion. The left wants an atmosphere of forgiveness for its own LEFTIST jihadi violence.
A storm brewing in Hungary as a result of a new law (which is a lightweight version of the US Foreign Agent Registration Act (since 1938)). Lightweight part is that it hands out much less severe punishments if not followed (some fines etc) and only asks for NGOs to disclose who supports them and with how much.
All the Soros organizations already squealing with full force and the US Embassy in Budapest joined the chorus… I do not understand Trump… I know he is busy with traitors and Washington swamp but still, the only country which attacks Soros and could force him to fight in two fronts (worked against the Nazis). He would only need to finally get someone to the Hungarian US Embassy with allegiance to him and not Obama.
Right now Orbán and his government gets no help from Trump, despite the fact he was the only one who endorsed and supported Trump candidacy from the very beginning… It is disappointing!
