Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/11/2016

There’s very little in the news feed tonight — perhaps there was no news today…? I looked out the window, and didn’t see any sign of the end of the world. So maybe our tipsters are just out there on the streets, marching with the snowflakes to protest the election of Donald Trump.

Speaking of Mr. Trump, there has been a huge flood of calls on Twitter for the president-elect’s assassination.

In other news, Sweden has decided to extend its current border control regime into 2017.

Assassination Threats Against Trump Flood Twitter

The shock and anger over Donald Trump’s ascension to the White House has triggered a flood of calls on Twitter and other social media outlets for the president-elect to be assassinated — and authorities will investigate all threats deemed to be credible, The Post has learned.

Trump met Thursday with President Obama in the Oval Office, with the Republican businessman calling the hour-plus session a “great honor.” Obama said they had an “excellent” and “wide-ranging” conversation, while urging all people to “now come together.”

But that message of inclusion was apparently lost in social media circles, particularly Twitter, where a simple search can reveal dozens and dozens of calls to gun down the next leader of the free world. Some posts called for both Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence to be assassinated, and there’s even an #AssassinateTrump hashtag.

“Trump chose the literal worst case scenario as VP so nobody would try to impeach or assassinate him,” one user posted on Twitter.

Another user wrote that the “only” remaining question after Tuesday’s historic and polarizing election is who will “assassinate” Trump, who will be inaugurated on Jan. 20. Some users even cited that date as a deadline for the assassination.

Other postings called for users who used the inflammatory hashtag to be contacted by authorities…

Hundreds took to the streets in Chicago for a second night in a row. Wednesday night an estimated crowd of 1,800 to 2,000 people marched through the streets of the Loop, down Michigan Avenue and onto Lake Shore Drive where they shut down traffic in both directions. Five people were arrested, Chicago police said.

Anti-Trump? You Might Say ‘I Do’ To Swede’s Proposal

(CNN) Noticing that Donald Trump’s victory left some people in the US feeling miserable, one Swede decided to make a unique offer that he hoped would cheer them up a bit.

Gustav Hallén, 30, from Stockholm, put himself up for auction for $50,000 on eBay, offering to marry any American who wants to flee the States and take up Swedish citizenship.

“US just become the land of the free to leave. Why not move to a better place? Like Sweden,” read his listing.

“Open for all suggestions female, male and others. Likes long walks and Netflix and chill.”

Hallén describes himself in the joke listing as ‘a fine specimen’

Hallén, who works as a photographer, art director and surf instructor, said in his item description that he has “some weather damages and minor eye problems. But overall good physical health and a fine specimen.”

Italy: Woman Fined 30,000 Euros for Niqab in Town Hall

40-year-old woman refused to show her face

(ANSA) — Pordenone, November 11 — A judge in the northern city of Pordenone on Friday handed a four-month prison sentence to a woman who failed to meet a demand to show her face and identify herself while wearing a niqab in a public building in a nearby town. The judge converted the punishment into a 30,000-euro fine. The incident happened three weeks ago when the 40-year-old woman of Albanian origin entered the town hall of San Vito al Tagliamento, where a council meeting for young people was taking place, wearing a niqab, which covers all the face except for the eyes.

Mayor Antonio Di Bisceglie, a member of Premier Matteo Renzi’s centre-left Democratic Party (PD), repeatedly asked the woman to remote the traditional Muslim headgear, but she refused.

The woman, who has lived in San Vito al Tagliamento since 2000 and recently acquired Italian citizenship, was removed from the council assembly by local police, who then identified her.

The woman was found guilty of violating Law 152 of 1975 that regulates people’s conduct in public places and features an obligation for it to be possible to recognise someone’s face for security reasons.

Caroline Glick: Israel in the Trump Era

What can we expect from President-elect Donald Trump’s administration?

The positions that Trump struck during the presidential campaign were sometimes inconsistent and even contradictory. So it is impossible to forecast precisely what he will do once in office. But not everything is shrouded in mystery. Indeed, some important characteristics of his administration are already apparent.

First of all, President Barack Obama’s legacy will die the moment he leaves the White House on January 20. Republicans may not agree on much. But Trump and his party do agree that Obama’s policies must be abandoned and replaced. And they will work together to rollback all of Obama’s actions as president…

UN to Stop Shooting Terrorists

The United Nations special rapporteur to Judea, Samaria, and Gaza said on Thursday he was “very concerned” by Israel’s use of live fire in dealing with Arab terrorists during stabbing attacks.

“Lethal force is supposed to be used as a last resort and only when there is a legitimate threat to a security officer’s life,” Michael Lynk, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, told AFP.

Lynk, who took over the role in March and has so far been denied a visa to visit, said this rule was “being neglected.”

More than 200 Arab terrorists have been eliminated during attacks on Jews since October 2015. Dozens of Israelis have been murdered by such terrorists in the same period.

Israel has dismissed allegations of excessive force in most cases, saying its officers do only what is necessary to protect lives.

Lynk compared the shootings of Arab terrorists to the stabbing attack by Yishai Shlissel on participants in a gay pride parade in Jerusalem last year that left one dead.

In that case, Lynk said, the attacker was wrestled to the ground.

“He was actually brought down and wasn’t actually physically harmed in any way,” Lynk said in a phone interview with AFP shortly after the release of his first report.

In some cases, Arab terrorists brandishing knives have also been captured without the use of weapons fire, though terrorists often charge security forces attempting to take them into custody, forcing them to open fire.[…]

Bulgarian Vote Shows Russia Winning Hearts on EU’s Eastern Flank

Nearly 10 years after Bulgaria joined the European Union, many of its people feel their problems are too low down the priority list in Brussels.

Many disappointed Bulgarians are now looking toward Russia, their former overlord in the Soviet era, as a more relevant neighbor.

That sentiment is likely to be reinforced in a presidential election run-off on Sunday which former air force commander General Rumen Radev, who is friendly toward the Kremlin, is expected to win.

Austria: Grandmother, 72, Who Was Raped by a 17-Year-Old Asylum Seeker After Helping Him Out of a Canal Has ‘Lost the Will to Live’

A 72-year-old woman who was raped by a teenage migrant has the ‘lost the will to live’ a few months before her attacker is due to be released from jail in Austria.

The woman is reportedly fighting for her life in the intensive care ward at her local hospital after she stopped eating and is now only being kept alive by machines.

Her daughter, who until the tragedy was a refugee aid worker, said: ‘I knew it would eventually end like this.’

The pensioner was attacked on 1 September 2015 by a 17-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan when she offered him her hand to pull him out of a canal where he was swimming.

When the case went to court in January this year, the teen, identified as Wahab M., was given a 20-month jail sentence…

Austria: Sick Teenaged Migrant Who Raped OAP, 72 in Savage Attack to be Released in Months

A DEVASTATED 72-year-old raped by a teenage asylum seeker when she offered him her hand to pull him out of a canal has lost the will to live.

She is currently fighting for her life in the intensive care ward at her local hospital after she stopped eating, and is now only being kept alive by machines.

Her daughter, who until the tragedy was a refugee aid worker, said: “I knew it would eventually end like this.”

The case has caused a scandal in Austria when it was revealed that the police had attempted to gloss over the crime of the 17-year-old asylum seeker, who when the case finally came to court was only given a 20-month jail sentence and who told them that when he was released, he would not be deported because the punishment was not more than three years.

After she was attacked in autumn last year, police admitted that they had covered up what had happened because of the sensitivity of the subject.

Parisians Stage Anti-Migrant Protest in Anger at Government’s Refugee Relocation Plan

THE ANTI-IMMIGRANT backlash in France is continuing after a string of violent protests last month with another group of locals protesting over the imminent arrival of around 100 ‘Jungle’ refugees.

French conservative mayors have openly denounced the Socialist government’s controversial migrant rehousing plan following the destruction of the Calais ‘Jungle’ camp, and claim state officials — mainly interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve — have forced them to take in hundreds of refugees “against their will”.

  1. These are dangerous times, I’m quite afraid of Barry’s next moves…he’s not going to go quietly.

    • Amen.

Soros is used to getting his way. We may see him radically escalate his investments in the rioting, push Obama to start conflict with Russia, or even attempt direct action against the President-elect.

  2. As Wikileaks prove, Marxists within the corrupt Democratic Party machine, will continue their hideous attacks on Israel, Christian Russia and the Catholic Church.

    • ” the corrupt Democratic Party machine, will continue their hideous attacks on Israel, Christian Russia and the Catholic Church…”

      Bring it on!

The leftists, like the Muslims, are making their move too soon. But then again, their plans have been disrupted. They calculated that with the Presidency of a Hillary, houses will be allowed a hunting rifle as long as it is kept in one vault, the ammunition in another vault, and using it in self-defense will result in felony charges.

But, as GoV readers understand, it is difficult for outsiders to do more damage to the Catholic church than the Pope and the hierarchy are doing to themselves.

  3. He’d better go quietly. There is a great job waiting for him at the UN, of that I’m sure. Unfortunately, we have lived in dangerous times ever since I was born. . . a long time ago. After awhile, you get used to it.

    You’re welcome.

  4. “didn’t see any sign of the end of the world…”

Unfortunately, some people are reacting completely emotionally and do in fact see the end of the world. One guy I’ve known for 55 years writes that he can’t sleep at night, thinks racism, homophobia etc, etc is triumphant, and that Trump will begin deporting Jews once he gets going.

I don’t want to hear about Trump’s Jewish daughter. I know all about it. This guy is completely beyond reason, as are the people that think like him.

Quite frankly, I think willingness to support and defend the Constitution, and the ability to do so, ought to be part of the criteria for FUTURE immigration. We ought to think twice about allowing in immigrants who will consistently vote for open borders, amnesty and socialism/communism.
