I posted a couple of weeks ago about the trial and conviction of the Finnish writer Jussi Halla-aho. Mr. Halla-aho’s “crime” was “inciting racial hatred” as represented by a blog post that was deliberately and explicitly intended to highlight the absurdity and hypocrisy of Finnish hate speech laws. The response of the Finnish government was, predictably, a judicial scenario straight out of a Franz Kafka fever dream.
Thanks to a joint production by Tundra Tabloids and Vlad Tepes, a recent interview with Jussi Halla-aho has been subtitled and uploaded to YouTube in three parts. Listen to what he has to say, and hear the calm reasoned voice of an intelligent and thoughtful man.
As KGS says:
Jussi Halla-aho’s argumentation concerning the Finnish state’s illogical choice of prosecuting him for daring to insult Islam is simply brilliant. Both the Finnish state prosecutor’s office and its judicial system, have managed to place their institutions in the undesirable position, of being seen as totally incompetent to the international community at large.
Any judicial ruling that serves to further cloud the issues (based on bad law to begin with) rather than to reveal clarity in the case it was prosecuting, speaks for itself. Please take the time to go through the entire three part interview, and pay special attention to the 2nd and 3rd, for in these two videos, the brilliance of Halla-aho’s argumentation comes shining through.
Indeed, Jussi is the Finnish version of Geert Wilders, and in a fair court system, his case would either be won….or not even tried at all. It’s that crystal clear.
Parts 2 and 3 are below the jump.
