The Norwegian Government Surrenders to Muslims

This weekend, Norway became first Western country to announce its recognition of the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority government. Norway was home to the original back-channel talks between left-wing Israeli politicians and the PLO which created the ill-fated Oslo Peace Process of the 1990s, and also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to PLO-leader Yasser Arafat.

Jostein GaarderThe decision to fund the Hamas-led government was accompanied by cheers from the media, including newspaper Aftenposten which praised this as a “wise” move. Aftenposten in 2006 published an essay by Jostein Gaarder, author of the bestselling book “Sophie’s World,” which called the Ten Commandments “amusing stone tablets” and said that Israel has “raped world recognition and will have no peace before it lays down its arms.” The essay was denounced as anti-Semitic by many observers, but also received significant support.

While Europe SleptDuring the Cartoon Jihad in 2006, Bruce Bawer, the author of the book While Europe Slept, described how Velbjørn Selbekk, the editor of the tiny newspaper Magazinet, had firmly resisted pressure by Muslims who made death threats. But then Norway’s Minister of Labor and Social Inclusion Bjarne Håkon Hanssen hastily called a press conference at a government office building in Oslo. There Selbekk issued an abject apology for reprinting the Danish cartoons. At his side, accepting his act of contrition and asking that all threats now be withdrawn, was Mohammed Hamdan, head of Norway’s Islamic Council, accompanied by a number of imams. As Bawer commented, it was a picture right out of a sharia courtroom, with the Muslim leader declaring Selbekk to be henceforth under his protection.

Yousef Al-QaradhawiIn a Friday sermon on February 3, 2006, Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, exhorted worshippers to show rage to the world in response the cartoons depicting Muhammad. The sermon was aired on TV. The following day, the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Syria were set ablaze by an angry mob. A few days later, a delegation led by Mohammed Hamdan of Norway’s Islamic Council and a senior pastor representing Oslo’s bishop visited Qatar to meet Mr. Qaradhawi. The trip recieved support from the Norwegian government. Qaradhawi accepted the apology that Velbjørn Selbekk had issued on February 10.

Walid al-Kubaisi, a Muslim dissident living in Norway, warned that Yousef Al-Qaradhawi was more dangerous and influential than Osama bin Laden, and that the Muslim Brotherhood, whose founder Hassan al-Banna Qaradhawi had followed when he was young, wants the West to submit to sharia. Kubaisi reacted strongly to the statement by Mr. Hamdan that he would now give Mr. Selbekk protection:

Bjarne Håkon HanssenIt frightens me that he presents himself as an authority that can grant or revoke protection. Does this mean that [Minister] Bjarne Håkon Hanssen thinks that the next time I feel threatened because of something I have written, I should contact the Islamic Council, not the police? Sadly, the government, in their eagerness to end the current troubles, have made the authoritarian forces stronger.

Kubaisi feared that Islamists would from now on just burn something every time they felt offended about anything, and expect to get their will.

Burning the Danish and Norwegian flagsThe status given to non-Muslim dhimmis who accept Islamic rule is technically referred to as “protected.” During the Cartoon Jihad, the left-wing government demonstrated in public that Norwegian authorities did not control the security of their citizens, and thus had to accept Muslim intervention to secure Norwegians’ safety. This amounted to the acceptance of Islamic rule according to sharia laws, a view which was subsequently strengthened by payments to Muslims both at home and abroad. Undoubtedly these payments were viewed by Muslims as jizya, the “protection money” non-Muslims are required to pay in willing submission (Koran, 9:29), as a sign of their inferior status vis-à-vis Islam.

Yusuf al-Qaradawi has boasted that “Islam will Return to Europe as a Conqueror.” The spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood was thus indirectly responsible for the attack on the Norwegian embassy; technically the attack could be interpeted as an act of war.

Hamas is by many viewed as the Palestinian branch of the MB. They even write this in their own charter. This means that the Norwegian government is now funding an organization that has caused physical attacks against their country. Admittedly, even the USA and Israel are doing so, too, but it is still embarrassing and worrying that Norway is part of this bribe scheme.

In the fall of 2006, Minister Bjarne Håkon Hanssen from the Labor Party called for increased immigration to Norway from Pakistan because this wuld be good for the Norwegian society. The majority of Muslims in Norway voted for the Labor Party in the 2005 general elections, which the left-wing coalition won by a very slim margin. Eighty-three percent of Muslims voted for Leftist parties.

There have even been calls for translating Norway’s national anthem to Urdu because this would be good for integration.

Kristin Halvorsen, the leader of the Socialist Left Party, began her election campaign in 2005 in the Pakistani countryside, praising all the “blood, sweat and tears Pakistanis in Norway have spent on building the country.” She is now Norway’s Minister of Finance.

The deputy leader of the party has announced that he wants to abolish private property rights. It is stated in the party’s programme that the United States constitutes the greatest threat to world peace. However, their calls to boycott Israel have had no affect on consumer attitudes.

Trond Giske and Mohammed HamdanTrond Giske, Minister of Culture and Church Affairs from the Labor Party, met with Mohammed Hamdan, the then head of Norway’s Islamic Council, a few months after the Cartoon Jihad and announced that government subsidies for the Islamic Council would be raised from sixty thousand kroner a year to half a million. That’s more than a seven hundred percent increase in a single year.

The government would also meet more frequently with the Islamic Council to “improve dialogue.” Its leader Hamdan smiled after having talked with Mr. Giske for about one hour. “We’re pretty pleased with the meeting. For us it’s important to improve contacts with the government so that we can get to know each other better.”

Mohammed Hamdan participated during a meeting with members of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas at Stortinget, the Norwegian parliament, in the summer of 2006. According to him, he was only an interpreter, but his brother Osama Hamdan is a member of parliament for Hamas in the Palestinian Territories. Since the Norwegian government decided in March 2007 to continue sponsoring the Hamas-led government, this can hardly be viewed as anything but a total surrender to Islamic rule.

Muslims can spot a good dhimmi when they see one. In Bergen, Norway’s second largest city, Labor Party politician Jerad Abdelmajid threatened that Muslims would take their Friday prayers in Torgallmenningen, Bergen’s central public square. This threat occurred because Muslims would be temporarily without a mosque after March 31. Thus, if the authorities didn’t provide them with a interim mosque until the new one was finished, they would disrupt the community with public prayer meetings.

MullahKrekarIn contrast to the Selbekk case, Mullah Krekar, the former leader of the Islamic terror group Ansar al-Islam, still continues to be permitted to live in Norway — even though he has

Krekar has written a book about himself, which was published William Nygaard – a man who was dhimmified when he was shot and almost killed in the early 90s for having published the Norwegian translation of Salman Rushdie’s book The Satanic Verses.

It was recently confirmed that the posts I wrote on my blog two years ago about Muslim rapes were indeed accurate. I continue to maintain that the Norwegian Minister of Justice — if not the entire centre-right government — should have resigned in 2005, when this scandal came to light.

In September 2001, the newspaper Aftenposten published statistics from the city of Oslo showing that two thirds of those charged with rape in Norway’s capital were immigrants with a non-western background. This means that a majority of rapes in Oslo are committed by Muslim men. In addition, the total number of rape cases continues to rise.

The numbers published in 2001 were publicly discussed in at least two of Norway’s three largest newspapers: Aftenposten and Dagbladet. A leading member of the Liberal Party (Venstre), Odd Einar Dørum, demanded all the numbers be put on the table: “A scumbag is a scumbag, regardless of skin color.” A few weeks later, Mr. Dørum became Minister of Justice, a position he retained for the next four years. However, any mention of these statistics disappeared.

Last year, 2006, the number of rapes in the Norwegian capital Oslo was six times higher (per capita) than they were in New York City. Such statistics are likely to worsen, as New York City has become tougher on crime, and Oslo continues to silence any discussion of the imploding issue of safety for women in their city.

Dr. Jens Tomas Anfindsen, one of two editors of the bilingual website Honest Thinking, in 2007 revealed that there was a police report from 2005 that confirmed the trends from 2001. He talked to former Minister Dørum, who denied that the government had hushed it down. Yet as Mr Anfindsen pointed out, the report was met with total silence from both the political elites and the media that year.

Why?

In 2005, when the country was about to have national elections, I wrote that the country’s Minister of Justice knew that the huge spike in rapes was intimately linked to immigration. He denounced this cultural degradation before being elected, but once in power, this official did absolutely nothing about the problem. In fact, he refused to acknowledge that it even existed during his four years in office.

Normally this would have led to calls for his resignation, or that of the entire government of PM Bondevik. When this didn’t happen, I suspect it was because both the media and the left-wing opposition parties championed Multiculturalism and wanted to keep a lid on “delicate issues” related to immigration. In addition, the left-wing parties currently in office actively courted the Muslim vote – no doubt a decisive factor in their narrow victory that year.

Statistics showing that immigrants, especially from Muslim countries such as Iraq and Somalia, were behind two thirds of the rapes in Oslo were published again by newspaper Aftenposten in 2007. It is good that these numbers were finally published. Muslim violence in Western countries includes far more than just rape. The fact that it is actually being discussed in Norway, rather than silenced, is a positive turn of events. This willingness to address the real problems makes Norway one of the better countries when it comes to public dialogue.

However, why did newspapers Aftenposten and Dagbladet as well as other media, refuse to cite the police report in 2005? This omission may have decided the outcome of the elections. Yes, they did publish the reports in 2001 and 2007, but what motivated them to let the subject drop completely in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006. After all, the numbers of rapes grew to unprecedented heights year after year.

Is it a coincidence that they finally published the numbers again after I had written several articles denouncing their silence , and that Honest Thinking had just written about it as well? I don’t know the answers, but I’m entitled to ask them to explain their silence. And if our media withholds such information from us, what other kinds of information are they withholding?

It would be unfair to say that there is no opposition to these insane policies. Erna Solberg, the leader of Høyre, Norway’s conservative (with a very small “c”) party, is a dedicated Multiculturalist who has proposed the establishment of an officially sanctioned sharia council in Norway. However, a new book by a former member of Parliament for Høyre, Hallgrim Berg, warns against Islamic plans to turn Europe into Eurabia. He discusses the growing anti-Americanism in Europe and maintains the United States is the only power in the world capable of securing freedom.

Carl I. HagenIn 2005 the police issued a mobile security alarm to leader of the right-wing Progress Party, Carl I. Hagen. Hagen had criticized Islam, and could see no similarity with the concept of morality and justice found in Christianity. He also said that if Israel loses in the Middle East, Europe will succumb to Islam next. He thinks that Christians should support Israel and oppose Islamic inroads into Europe. In an unprecedented step, a group of Muslim ambassadors to Norway blasted Carl I. Hagen in a letter. Other politicians quickly caved in and condemned Hagen, including then-Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik of the Christian Democrats.

In 2007, the Progress Party, which is one of the most pro-Israeli and pro-American parties in Western Europe, is on the brink of replacing the Labor Party as the largest party in the country. Ordinary citizens have beomce disillusioned with Multiculturalism and Muslim immigration. However, as elsewhere in Europe, the established political, cultural and media elites are firmly behind these wrong-headed policies.

Unni WikanIn 2001, Unni Wikan, a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, told Dagbladet that “Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes” because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative. The professor’s conclusion was that “Norwegian women must realize that we live in a Multicultural society and adapt themselves to it.”

Meanwhile, Trond Giske, Minister of Culture and Church Affairs and the same man who provided Norway’s Islamic Council with a seven hundred percent increase in funds after the Cartoon Jihad, announced that 2008 would be an official Diversity Year, dedicated to celebrating Multiculturalism and “cultural diversity” in all sectors of society.

The more the state ideology fails, the more the state promotes its doomed tenets in public propaganda campaigns. China’s Chairman Mao would have been proud of Norwegian authorities.

I’m not, but then I am an ignorant Islamophobe.

  1. and this is certainly one vector for the spread of sharia as citizens of western countries increasingly realize that the conventional courts and law enforcement apparatus cannot and will not protect them against muslim violence…

forcing them to resort to muslim courts and imams

a business owner whose shop is being vandalized, for example, will find after a meeting that in exchange for a donation to his local mosque, the problems will cease

jizya or blackmail is paid and islamic authority enforced

  2. They have absolutely lost their minds.

It would be so easy just to tell the muslims to bugger of – after alle they do not pose any serious threat.

But due to multiculturalism an idea so shallow nobody with any reason would accept – girls get raped.

This is just so stupid, and basically evil.

  3. “Norwegian women must realize that we live in a Multicultural society and adapt themselves to it.”

Question: When is that Mulitcultural immigrant minority gonna adapt to NORWAY?

“as citizens of western countries increasingly realize that the conventional courts and law enforcement apparatus cannot and will not protect them against muslim violence… forcing them to resort to muslim courts and imams.”

OR…to war, if they have the fortitude to do what’s RIGHT.

“The United States is the only power in the world capable of securing freedom.”

I have to credit this man…this has fatwa potential all over it!

I DON’T CARE THAT WE’RE THE BIGGEST HURDLE TO PEACE…WE’RE ALSO THE LAST HOPE OF ENSURING WORLDWIDE FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!

Wha’dya say? Should we bring them Islamo-Fascists that Good Ol’ ‘Merican way of responding their bullying?

“Walk tall and carry a big STICK” was our motto for so long…I kinda like my uncle’s, personally: “Boy, I’m gonna slap you silly…won’t take long.”

  4. Unfortunately, the Norwegians inhabit an insignificant little country, that produces nothing of significance, that produces no signficant ideas, has put forward no significant people, but finds a way to show how sick, bigoted, and morally bankrupt it is.

I’d boycott these Nazis, but there’s nothing to boycott.

But I will be laughing when they are enslaved.

  5. This is completely sickening. One part of my mind says to write Sweden and Norway off as now part of the Caliphate. Which makes our friends in Denmark more important yet.

Hopefully, we’ll stop it soon. Perhaps at a future date, the 15th Baron Boddisey will have a blog called “Gates of Copenhagen”.

  6. an insignificant little country, that produces nothing of significance, that produces no signficant ideas

So the pacemaker, ball bearings and dynamite – amongst others – are “insignificant” are they?

Just keeping you on your toes… 🙂

  7. Incidentally I think they’d take issue at you calling them nazis. Read some history before you start flinging words like that about, mate.

  8. I hate posting three in a row but I need to correct myself slightly. The above are “nordic” inventions. However that shouldn’t detract from my point, as it’s only by dint of certain wars that Norway and Sweden are called seperate countries. In language and culture they’re very similar, for good or ill… and apparently a lot of ill at the moment.

I still find it interesting that you’re apparently incapable of distinguishing between a government and a people. Governments in europe are often elected in spite of the wishes of the electorate for a variety of reasons, and the presence of well-funded state broadcasters does a lot to keep the idea that they’re performing the will of the people present. Only today I experienced a wonderful example of this, as the BBC trumpted Gordon Brown’s “tax cuts” that tuppence off the lowest band of income tax, whilst everything else went up. A lot of people will believe that they’ve been given a real tax cut when their tax bills are going throuigh the roof, simply becasue the BBC told it that way. These aren’t stupid people. They’re believing a lie because they want to believe that they’re getting a tax cut.

Now, the norwegian government and their media are putting about lies and people want to believe them, simply because the truth is rather too disturbing to face. As I’ve said in these comments so many times, these people need help, not the hate you’re dishing out, Zero. The honourable thing would be to see how they can be helped, not laugh at them in their hour of need.

i think gun-totin-wacko IS referring to the government.

even though european people can be overly critical about ‘mericans, i believe it’s possible due primarily to the well-educated i met during my travels…but i met many non-college types who felt the same way.

i think the pioneer spirit still lives on in americans, and that greatly affects our attitude.

but still, give the guy a break, dude. even if every person agreed with the government, it doesn’t mean that he’s point that gun at them…yet.

gotta wait for the fall of the gov’t first.

  10. fyi – i know (by re-reading of course!) that you’re talking to zerosumgame.

i agree zero should be a little less “critical” in certain sits…but i can’t say i blame ’em!

just in case anyone wants to respond with: “well, start with your own country”…I HAVE!

they have a serious problem in norway, like they do elsewhere. we need sometimes to be overly critical to ensure our point is taken, AT ALL. you know how well most people listen.

what else can we do than to put everyone’s (incl. ours) nose in it???

  11. Archonix:

Dynamite was Alfred Nobel, and he was Swedish.

I’d have to see your links backing the other two.

Were they invented in Norway, or by Norwegians working somewhere else, like, you know, America?

    😉

  12. Archonix:

I still find it interesting that you’re apparently incapable of distinguishing between a government and a people.

I can distinguish, but if the Norwegian people do not feel strongly enough about their government supporting Islamonazi terrorists to speak up about it, then they are guilty too.

Governments in europe are often elected in spite of the wishes of the electorate for a variety of reasons, and the presence of well-funded state broadcasters does a lot to keep the idea that they’re performing the will of the people present.

You know, the people of Europe are not afraid to make their wishes known — they take to the streets for protests, they do it in the hundreds of thousands frequently. They protest by the hundreds of thousands when Israel tries to defend itself. Was there any demonstration, of any size protesting this recognition of Hamas in Norway?

I bet not. You know why? Most Norwegians agree with this decision by their government. Most agree with the goals of Hamas. They want Israel destroyed and as many Jews dead as possible.

  13. Why, in the name of all that’s holy, if a practice doesn’t work but our beliefs say it SHOULD, do we do it over and over, with greater vigor? Both Islam and Western governments are doing it:
    (1) Islam says “We live in squalid corrupt countries, obviously there’s not enough Shari’a in the world, when we have a universal Caliphate the world will be perfect”.
    (2) the West says “Islam is a peaceful religion, they’re rioting in the streets and raping our women, let’s hush it up and make more and more concessions for peace”.
I want to grab somebody by the lapels and shake ’em good and hard, and say “LOOK! We’re at war, we have to RESIST!” But who do I grab and shake?

  14. zerosumgame

Your ignorance is truly mindboggling, only to be surpassed by your bitter feelings of irrational and misplaced hatred. Go f*ck yourself, maybe it will bring a smile to your face.

  15. Mr C:

Can you please tell me how I am ignorant? Where am I wrong?

I checked your blog, and it is obviously in some Scandinavian language, although I would not know which one.

If you live in Norway, show me some evidence that the Norwegians are not strongly anti-Semitic.

Or is it that you Europeans just have thin skins? Europeans say all kinds of terrible things about America and Israel, and we are supposed to sit back and say nothing, but when we strike back and say some ugly truths about Europe, you people go nuts.

I don’t accept a double standard. If the Europeans wish to criticize us with lies, then they must accept when we criticize them with truth.

Telling me to go do strange things to myself is not an answer.

  16. zerosumgame

I was hoping I didn’t have to, but since you ask so nicely I’ll give a couple of examples of why you are wrong.

“Unfortunately, the Norwegians inhabit an insignificant little country,”

No argument there, there’s only 4,5 million of us living on the outskirts of everything.

    “that produces nothing of significance,”

Ridiculous. Norway is the world’s 3rd largest exporter of oil. We supply gas for both europe and the US (note: we are not OPEC, neither Russia, and don’t use oil&gas as blackmail). We are one of the world’s largest producers of synthetic fertilizer, which by the way was invented in Norway around 1900. Significant enough for you?

    “that produces no signficant ideas,”

Ideas are produced by individuals, not countries. Our constitution of 1814 is founded on the same ideas as the US constitution.

“has put forward no significant people,”

    Niels Henrik Abel, mathematician.
    Roald Amundsen, explorer.
    Kristian Birkeland, physicist.
    Edward Grieg, composer.
    Henrik Ibsen, playwright.
    Edvard Munch, artist.
    Ragnar Frisch, economist.
    Fridtjof Nansen, statesman, oceanographer.
    Jan Stenerud, NFL player.
    Henrik Wergeland, national poet.
    Leif Erikson, explorer.

    There are more.

“but finds a way to show how sick, bigoted, and morally bankrupt it is.”

The Socialist Left fits that description, but they have 8% of the votes, tops. They are given these symbolic cases to front so as to keep the moonbats happy and the government afloat. It’s the same with our troop deployment in Afghanistan, they can’t stand it and it’s almost brought down the government twice in one year. In all other matters they are completely run over. Coalition partner the Labour party mediated the Oslo accords, a disaster, but there’s nothing suggesting it was done out of malice. But this explains the desire to again engage the Palis in peace talks. “Naive” is the best description of our foreign policy, as it’s based on “peace” and “dialogue”. We can’t seem to imagine why some people would not be interested in peace.

“I’d boycott these Nazis, but “

Hitler had a crush on norwegians. The feeling wasn’t mutual. If you ever meet a norwegian, I’d advice you not to call him/her a nazi.

    there’s nothing to boycott.”

Ask someone in shipping whether it’s possible to boycott the freighters that bring you goods from your beloved UK or Japan or Israel or China or whatever country you deem worthy of your respect.
The norwegian economy is not very diverse but exports range from natural resources to high tech products.

“But I will be laughing when they are enslaved.”

    That’s real American of you.

It’s kind of difficult to find evidence of something that doesn’t exist, it’s easier to prove anti-semitism.
There were never many jews in Norway. From the year 1000, it was forbidden for non-christians to be in the kingdom. Convert or die (or leave). So Norway was christened by the sword (by orders our own king). Anyway, this prohibition was confirmed in legislation while we were under Denmark, and again when we gained independence and the Constitution was written in 1814. It stated that “jews and jesuits are not given access to the kingdom” (jesuits are christians but Vatican meddling was unwanted). In 1851, the necessarry 2/3 majority to change the constitution was attained, and the paragraph was dropped. Jews were given the same rights as christians. The first jewish immigration to Norway after that came from Europe, where they were not allowed to own land, were barred from most professions, severly taxed, in general just persecuted. Not so in Norway, where they could build a future for themselves. Norway was for some jews a budget alternative to America. Anti-semitism was on the rise on the continent between the world wars, and this spread to Norway (as well as the US). Which brings us to Vidkun Quisling, the man who gave his last name to traitors everywhere. His party had no support in the population, but as a result of the nazi occupation he took power. He was excecuted by a rifle shot to his head immediately after the war. Capital punishment was then abolished. Many of his henchmen fled to Argentina. 700 jews were deported to Germany during the war. Almost twice as many managed to escape with help from the norwegian resistance.
Nowadays, anti-semitism comes from the radical left and muslims. The whole Israel-Palestina issue has always divided the left and the right, probably due to Soviet propaganda in relation to their arms sales etc. to arab nations (most of which were socialist), realpolitik. The former president of our parliament was a jew. Other prominent jews feature regularly in the public debate on all matters of public interest. It’s actually feels weird for me to write about these persons as jews, because they are just norwegians like everyone else. There was a huge outrage last year, when an anti-semitic piece poorly disguised as a “poetic critiqure of Israeli policy” written by a famous norwegian author (whose name I won’t mention, I always thought he sucked) was published in a leading left-wing rag. He got so much shit from everyone because of the piece that some prominent norwegian jews actually had to tell the norwegian people through the media to give him a break and let the whole issue go.

Norwegians are icenecks and snowmonkeys but not anti-semites and nazis.

Americans should not sit back and take all the crap that’s thrown at them from europeans, but it helps to aim before you shoot. And frankly, dissing european countries should be like shooting fish in a barrel for anyone who ever picked up a book on history.

  17. Fjordman,

Regarding the issue of rapes – do you have the police report from 2005? To the best of my knowledge there was a report by the Oslo police “Rape in Oslo 2004” and there might also be a report from 2000. The 2004 report was published in 2005 and that might be why there are references to two reports. I understand they intend to put out such a report every few years. It is easily accessible online.

I don’t think Aftenposten ignores rape cases and they write extensively about these reports.

    Mr. C.,

Jews might have asked the press to drop it because after Gaarder’s article they started receiving threats. Gaarder then went on to be interviewed saying he felt injured, frightened and threatened by the reactions in the press (though, apparently, he did not receive any threats directly)

  18. Esther

Yes that might have been the reason, considering there was later a terrorist attack on the synagogue. However, I remember distinctly norwegian jews went public saying “Gaarder is not an anti-semite”.
The reaction to his article was not driven by the press. The response was mainly from ordinary people in the comment sections of newspapers websites and also the print editions. And of course at work, the pub etc. Gaarder crossed a line, and the silent majority let him know.
As for the death threats and where they were directed, and more importantly where they were NOT directed – well it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the affilliaton of the issuers. Even the police figured it out when they arrested the synagogue terrorist.

  19. ZS, for the record I did mea culpa and point out that the inventions I listed were “nordic”, but evidently you don’t know that nordic and scandanavian are largely interchangable. That’s ok, we all don’t know everything. For example I forgot that ball bearings were invented in Sweden.

    We all make mistakes.

Sometimes they’re big, sometimes they’re small.

Forgetting which country invented a metal ball is probably smaller than classing an entire nation as nazi because it isn’t roaming the streets shooting politicians and muslims just because they’re there. IN fact, misapplying the birthpalce of an invention probably ranks at abotu teh same level as treating a diverse continent as a single country.

Let me make this clear once again. There is no such country as Europe. Europe is not a monolithinc place. Europe is not an equivalent of America. You can get away with refering to Europeans in some cases, but when you start acccusing people of hate and then referring to countries on the very periphery of the continent as “Europe” you’re pushing your luck just a little. Would you like it if I started talking about Mexico and the Cuba if they were part of the US?

    I suspect not.

Please try not to make the same mistake again, and in future I’ll try to remember who invented dynamite. 🙂

  20. Archonix,

I don’t like to get into pissing matches, but thanks to the EU, Europe is increasingly joined by common laws, a common economic policy (in addition to a common currency), and a common foreign policy, which (let’s be honest) involves bashing America and helping the Arabs and Iranian mullahs to destroy Israel.

Poll after poll after poll shows that anti-Israel (and by extension, anti-Semitic) sentiment is far higher in Europe than America.

The European definition of anti-Semitism is also different. Europeans can freely talk of Israel as Nazis, as Jews controlling the American media, of Jewish “neocons” controlling the Bush Administration, and calling for the “right of return” of Palestinians (which would destroy Israel and lead to a second Holocaust), and none of this is considered anti-Semitic in your continent. Europeans let the Nazis (the Islamic ones) in their midst spew out genocidal anti-Semitic rehetoric unchecked, and do little about it, and yet do not consider this anti-Semitism. In America, all these things would be considered anti-Semitic by most.

Americans back Israel building a wall to defend itself from the raving, sick, genocidal Palestinian savages (yes, they ARE savages, the whole lot of them), but most Europeans (and not just the elites) oppose the wall. Never mind the fact that without the wall, thousands of more Jews would die. Yet Europeans do not consider it anti-Semitic to tell Jews not to defend themselves against these animals.

They just consider it the natural order of things. After all, Europe had its way killing Jews for 2000 years. They cannot accept, now or ever, the right of Jews to defend themselves.

I don’t expect the Europeans here to like one word of what I’m saying, but if you read many prominent conservative columnists — not all of them Jews — they share the same belief about Europe being an incurable hotbed of anti-Semitism.

  21. Mr. C,

Ridiculous. Norway is the world’s 3rd largest exporter of oil.

Which means that you do not have to make nice to the Arabs to get oil. So what motivates the strong hatred of Israel in Norway, hmmmm?
Could it be that its full of Jews?

Ideas are produced by individuals, not countries.

But individuals are brought up in cultures, some of which more strongly emphasize learning, science, and free thought, plus the reward for taking risks. Europe has none of that anymore, and rarely had much of these things in the past.

    Niels Henrik Abel, mathematician.
    Roald Amundsen, explorer.
    Kristian Birkeland, physicist.
    Edward Grieg, composer.
    Henrik Ibsen, playwright.
    Edvard Munch, artist.
    Ragnar Frisch, economist.
    Fridtjof Nansen, statesman, oceanographer.
    Jan Stenerud, NFL player.
    Henrik Wergeland, national poet.
    Leif Erikson, explorer.

Two things — some of these people probably had little influence outside Norway, and most lived 100+ years ago. What has Norway (or all of Europe for that matter) produced in great art, science, technology, literature since the war? Europe has invented or developed very little compared to America, and even more than in America, its art and literature is little more than slick Marxist propaganda.

Hitler had a crush on norwegians. The feeling wasn’t mutual. If you ever meet a norwegian, I’d advice you not to call him/her a nazi.

Well, if the shoe fits wear it. Norway’s attitude toward Israel, apart from one center-right party, is full of hatred. I can believe you or I can believe Bruce Bawer, an American who moved to Norway and thus understands both nations. I choose to believe Bawer.

I will pose this question again — if Naziism is so abhorrent to the Norwegians, and if most Norwegians are opposed to your government and media backing the new, Islamic Nazis, then where are the protests?

Again, don’t get mad at me. Get mad at your fellow Norwegians, for either spewing out this hatred, or doing nothing to stop it.

  22. In 1958 there were only two countries in the world who could supply Israel with the amounts of heavy water it needed to produce nuclear weapons, Norway and the USA. American heavy water was cheaper, but USA had very strict controls to make sure it wasn’t used to produce nuclear weapons. Because of this Israel had to get their heavy water from Norway. 20 metric tonnes of heavy water was sold to Israel in 1959, and it was used to produce Israels nuclear weapons.
Yet another example of Norwegian anti semitism and hatred towards Israel, I’m sure.

  23. And by the way, I can’t imagine Holocaust survivors appreciate well-meaning people like you calling anybody a nazi. Over time, that sort of behaviour lessens the crimes of the real nazis.
