In the comments on yesterday’s post, two commenters with inside knowledge of Danish affairs left us some interesting information. I’ve cleaned up the spelling, syntax, and punctuation to present their comments here.

What is really interesting is what has been happening in Denmark.The Danes seem to have got their second wind, and dumped dhimmitude.
Kurt Westergaard [the cartoonist who drew the turban-bomb Mohammed] gave an interview for a Danish paper a couple of weeks ago including his picture, and said that he hadn’t been in hiding and had just carried on as if nothing had happened. Laban the Imam who started the row has been backpedaling for all he is worth and puts his foot in it every time he opens his mouth.
I read in one Danish Blog (I wish I could remember where) that when he was traveling on a bus in Copenhagen, an old lady getting off the bus turned round and said to him, “You are a very stupid man,” and the bus cheered.
A cabinet minister is supposed to have accused somebody in public of lying like an Imam. If only that phrase could come into general use here in the west. Wafa Sultan has given a speech for the Democratic Muslim association, here is the video link.
The best selling book at the moment is a book written by Karen Jespersen og Ralf Pittelkows Called ‘Islamister og naivister’ I think you can work out the meaning of the title for yourselves. Both [writers] have been in the Danish Government and I think one was a minister.
So for Denmark things are looking up.

The man who was accused of “lying like an imam”, or as he put it: “speaking with two tongues like an imam” was the Socialist mayor of the city I live in, Århus. His reaction was to say: “That’s a very rude comparison.”
The Democratic Muslim association “Demokratiske Muslimer” where the Video was taken, have really been brave. They have been getting a lot of harassment, mostly on an individual level, from other Muslims, the non-democratic ones I suppose. The organization was created as a result of the Motoon-crisis.
I don’t think anything will happen tomorrow. They have had their fun, and it made Islam much more unpopular than it was. Many people who didn’t have an opinion before have one now, and it’s not good.

I think I should have written, that the organisation was created as a reaktion to, rather then as a result of. They are very popular in Denmark, with non-muslims at least. The founder Naser Khader, is one of the most popular politicians in Denmark.
There is something about the “busstory” at Hodja it seems it originaly came from an interview Abu Laban gave to the Guardian.
“Lying like an Imam” just needs a catchy tune. Contact The Bangles, who recorded “Walk Like An Egyptian”, or maybe Prince, who wrote “Manic Monday”, one of their hits.

Thanks apollo. I say 3 cheers to the rightwing bloggers and the good people all over the world. This is in many ways their victory.
When this crisis was on its highest. The left was constantly whining about how Denmarks reputation was ruined. How it would take many years to rebuild. Marketing-experts where brought in to confirm this. Danes living abroad was interviewed and could testify, that Americans, Germans or Brazilians had now come to see Danes as Xenophobic. “60 minutes” presented Danes as people with an IQ of 70. Both Clinton, Bush and most of the EU leaders, said that we where wery bad boys. A strong exeption to this was Holland.
Then the rightwing bloggers came riding in to the resque. Lead by American Bloggers like LFG, Michelle Malkin, this place and many many others. And the support from all these places was overwhelming and unquestionable. The buy danish campain made the losses in the middleeast seem small and unsignificant. Jyllandsposten made a blog where people where invited to tell about the reactions they had meet from people while traveling, more then 90 % of the stories that came in talked about posetive and even cheering reactions from most parts of the world.
This is truly a story about how the ordinary men and women of the world beat the leftish-elite and the MSM big time. Its amazing they can still manege to cravl. Could be they are like a chicken who hasnt noticed its head is missing.
I saw a poster on LFG saying that he allways tried to buy danish when he could, but he wondered if we even cared.
We do care and owe him and everyone like him a big thanks. Its great to have a good export, no question about it. But its about a lot more then that. Next time the left tries to scare its own population in any western country, with bad international reputation, if the left dont get it their way. It will be pretty easy for people to just point to Denmark and laugh at them.
The whole insident is also a sort of victory for Israel and USA. For many years we have seen those two countries flags burn side by side. And some of us, i must shamefully admit, thought that something serius must have been done to these poor flagburning people. In the future we will all know that these poor people will burn a flag if their shoe becomes untied.

Don’t worry about “60 Minutes”. 20 years ago, it was probably the most popular program in America, but as a conservative media grew and pointed out the bias of the “Mainstream Media (MSM)”, the shows rather blatant far-left bias has made it a laughing stock among all but our leftist elites, and it is not even in the top 30 anymore.
They are nothing but all-Bush-bashing, all-the-time.
And as you probably know, “60 Minutes” was the show that showed forged documents two months before the 2004 election, hoping to destroy Bush. It ended up destroying them instead.
I can’t tell you how good these posts from the Danish commenters makes me feel.
I took Sammenhold seriously. So seriously that last March my husband and I decided to travel to Copenhagen and spend our vacation in support of it.
We were taken aback by the apathy we encountered when it came to speaking about the whole issue of the Motoons. We did see one glimmer of hope when a woman in one of the amber shops saw my American/Danish flag lapel pin and in a hushed whisper acknowledged the 9/11 attack, saying that it was a monstrous event we should never forget. Maybe I am too much of a brash American but I expected more fighting spirit to be expressed by the good Danish citizens.
Having said that, we had a wonderful trip and wish our Danish friends nothing but the best. It is encouraging to see them speaking out and standing up for their wonderful country and culture. I still make it a point to buy Danish; Carlsberg Beer, havarti cheese and Danish Butter Cookies have become staples in the pantry…

Its funny. When I am in Copenhagen, I get the same feeling. Nice arkitekture though. But it was made by a people long gone and its present spirit has surendered to Multiculturalism and political corectness. Its more an international city then a Danish one. Most Copenhagens would even take this as a compliment.
Fighting spirit is mostly found in rural areas an in smaller towns.

Here are some of the, lets call them philosophical axioms, that I live by:
1) I and my family have the right to exist in liberty
2) We have the right to be have our lives and property being secure from the threat of violence and theft
3) The primary purpose of government is to secure the above
4) Where government fails its primary purpose above, the individual people retain the right and option of defending themselves and their property through force of arms, and to retain the means of doing so
The last is what primarily distinguishes American culture from European culture. In history, the distinguishing characteristics of a European nobleman were that he had the right to own property, he was armed, and had the right (and duty) to defend what was his and those under his protection.
The distinguishing characteristic of the American Revolution and the Constitution, was that it proclaimed that every American citizen was now a nobleman in the European sense of the word

We; Europeans need to reclaim our inner nobleman quit whining and take responcebilety for ourselves and the world around us.

its not just the right that were galvanised by the cartoons – a lot of people on the left were too. Ever hear of the Euston Manifesto?
Harrys Place in the UK is very much in the that mould. And remember that “lying like an imam” quote was by a socialist politician. Another good example of a leftist who is very much wide awake to the threat of Islamism is Joschka Fisher, the German politician. There are many more like him.
So, you folks on the right arent alone in this – for when the Islamists come calling , it’ll be either convert to Islam or die. That will be the choice, whether you are “right” or “left”.
It was a Liberal Minister who said that a Socialist mayor was lying like an imam. Liberals are considered rightwing here. But the socialist DID say it was a rude camparision, and that is somewhat remarkeable. But the guy who said it isnt very bright, so it could have been just a slip of one of his two tungues 🙂
But I agre that parts of the left has changes its wiews on islam since the motoon crisis. But the left was hardly surportive in a owerwhelming and unquestionable way. Rather the opposite.
In my wiews the left are hivepeople. They only say what they think others want them to say. They have no moral backbone. They dont belive in reality, they belive only in perseption. And I meen the academian-left. The workingclass-left is a whole other ballgame. Their loyalty lies with the rightwingers in these matters.
