Gates of Vienna News Feed 3/22/2017

In the southern Italian city of Foggia, a North African man ran through a police roadblock and injured one officer before crashing his vehicle. When he got out of the car he stabbed another police officer, and was then arrested. Same [effluent], same day, different country.

Also today, as if to underscore events in London, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Europeans that it would not be long until they “will not walk safely on their streets”.

In other news, on Sunday a man carrying a knife disrupted a mass in a Catholic church in Kuwait City. No one was hurt, and he was arrested. He is said to have a history of mental problems.

Fitch Knocks Saudi Arabia’s Credit Rating Down Another Notch

Fitch Ratings downgraded Saudi Arabia’s credit rating againon Wednesday, bringing it perilously close to “speculative,” from “investment grade.” It dropped the country’s long-term credit rating from A+ to AA-, but with a “stable” outlook, noting that the reduction was due to the country’s “continued deterioration of public and external balance sheets.”

Fitch sees what both Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s, the other two global credit rating agencies, see: declining oil prices hurting a country that once enjoyed the highest investment grade ratings thanks to high oil prices that not only paid for extravagant welfare programs and subsidies to its citizens but allowed it to accumulate three-quarters of a trillion dollars in foreign reserves — more than ample to ride out any conceivable storm.

Democrats Hoped to Hurt Trump, But Raised Suspicions of Obama

The mainstream media have been doing a victory lap since the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Security Agency (NSA) confirmed on Monday in testimony before the U.S. House Intelligence Committee that President Barack Obama did not wiretap Trump Tower. But that was already known.

There was only one new revelation at the hearing, and it was a bombshell: senior Obama administration officials could have known the identities of surveillance targets.

One of those targets, retired General Michael Flynn, lost his job after it was revealed that his conversation with the Russian ambassador had been monitored, and that he had discussed sanctions relief, contrary to his early private and public claims.

Yet Flynn’s identity was never supposed to have been revealed. The surveillance of the Russian ambassador, routine though it may have been, yielded classified information, and the identity of any U.S. citizen swept up in it should have been redacted.

Grassroot Gardener George Soros Money Going To…

LaMarche said he already has sought to connect alliance contributors to Indivisible, one of the groups at the forefront of anti-Trump efforts. Its organizers, led by former Democratic congressional aides, have created a how-to manual “for resisting the Trump agenda” that is modeled on conservative Tea Party tactics and has encouraged shows of opposition at congressional town hall meetings.

More than 5,500 local groups are using the guide to fight administration policies, organizers say.

“Everybody is impressed by what’s come up in a grassroots sense and doing what we can to support that and connect that up to a larger infrastructure,” LaMarche told USA TODAY.

The alliance, aligned with billionaire financier George Soros, also is weighing building a pool of money that can be deployed for “rapid response” work by other liberal groups on an array of issues, such as challenging the Trump administration on the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Any decision by the alliance to recommend financial backing for anti-Trump groups likely will spark conservative outcry.

Maxine Waters to Trump: “Get Ready for Impeachment”

Having demanded Donald Trump’s impeachment before he became President, called his cabinet “scumbags,” and slammed him for supporting “Korea-invading Putin;” it appears Maxine Waters is doubling down, tweeting today that it’s time to “get ready for impeachment.”

As a reminder, Waters brought the crazy in January — before President Trump had been inaugurated, going so far as to suggest that the nicknames Trump used against all his political opponents, even Republicans, were fed to him by Russia.

‘Murder Trump ASAP’ Graffiti Sparks Investigation in San Diego

Surveillance Footage of White House Fence Jumper Shows He ‘Lingered’ For 17 Minutes as Secret Service Agents Were ‘Lackadaisical’ In Tracking Him Down

Shocking surveillance footage of the man who jumped the White House fence shows that he lingered on the ground for 17 minutes, tied his shoes, and peered into windows as alarms were blaring — all in plain view of the public and without the knowledge of the Secret Service, it was reported on Tuesday.

Jonathan Tuan-Anh Tran, 26, was carrying a backpack with two cans of mace when he scaled the fence of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue because he said he had an appointment with his ‘friend,’ President Donald Trump, on the night of March 10.

Tran faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison for trespassing.

Trey Gowdy Deals With What All Others Ignore: Media Leaks About Russia Are Illegal and Usually Inaccurate

[W]hile we don’t really know if anyone committed the crime of conspiring with the Russians, we know for sure that someone (or multiple someones) in the intelligence community committed a crime by leaking information to the media. If you have any doubt about this, enjoy having all doubt removed as you read this exchange during yesterday’s hearing between Trey Gowdy and James Comey:

Rep. Gowdy: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Director Comey, you and I were discussing the felonious dissemination of classified material during the last round. Is there an exception in the law for current or former U.S. officials who request anonymity?

Director Comey: To release classified information?

Gowdy: Yes, sir.

Comey: No.

Gowdy: Is there an exception in the law for reporters who want to break a story?

Comey: Well, that’s a harder question, as to whether a reporter incurs criminal liability by publishing classified information, and one probably beyond my ken. I’m not as good a lawyer as Mr. Schiff said I used to be.

Gowdy: Well, I don’t know about that, but the statute does use the word publish, doesn’t it?

Comey: It does, but that’s a question I know the Department of Justice has struggled with through administration after administration.

Gowdy: I know the department struggled with it, the fourth circuit struggled with it, lots of people struggled with it, but you’re not aware of an exception in the current dissemination of classified information statute that carves out an exception for reporters?

Comey: No, I’m not aware of anything carved out in the statute. I don’t think a reporter’s been prosecuted, certainly in my lifetime, no.

Gowdy: Well, there have been a lot of statutes at bar in this investigation for which no one’s ever been prosecuted or convicted, and that does not keep people from discussing those statutes, namely, the Logan Act. In theory, how would reporters know a U.S. citizen made a telephone call to an agent of a foreign power?

Comey: How would they know legally?

Gowdy: Yes.

Comey: If it was declassified and then discussed in a judicial proceeding or a congressional hearing, something like that.

Gowdy: And assume none of those facts are at play, how would they know?

Comey: Someone told them who shouldn’t have told them.

Why American Farmers Are Hacking Their Tractors With Ukrainian Firmware

A dive into the thriving black market of John Deere tractor hacking.

To avoid the draconian locks that John Deere puts on the tractors they buy, farmers throughout America’s heartland have started hacking their equipment with firmware that’s cracked in Eastern Europe and traded on invite-only, paid online forums.

Tractor hacking is growing increasingly popular because John Deere and other manufacturers have made it impossible to perform “unauthorized” repair on farm equipment, which farmers see as an attack on their sovereignty and quite possibly an existential threat to their livelihood if their tractor breaks at an inopportune time.

The nightmare scenario, and a fear I heard expressed over and over again in talking with farmers, is that John Deere could remotely shut down a tractor and there wouldn’t be anything a farmer could do about it.

“What you’ve got is technicians running around here with cracked Ukrainian John Deere software that they bought off the black market”

A license agreement John Deere required farmers to sign in October forbids nearly all repair and modification to farming equipment, and prevents farmers from suing for “crop loss, lost profits, loss of goodwill, loss of use of equipment … arising from the performance or non-performance of any aspect of the software.” The agreement applies to anyone who turns the key or otherwise uses a John Deere tractor with embedded software. It means that only John Deere dealerships and “authorized” repair shops can work on newer tractors.

Wind Turbines in the Great Lakes Will Also Cause Millions of Migrating Birds to Die

The World Council for Nature (WCFN) learned with consternation the revival of the plan to erect wind turbines in the Great Lakes, in this case western Lake Erie, one of the world’s busiest migration hotspot for water birds, songbirds, and raptors including iconic eagles. The name of the project, “Icebreaker”, announces to wind developers everywhere that, if approved, the Great Lakes will be open to their greed, as is the rest of the country.

The massacre of 2,900 golden eagles and over 250,000 other birds by the wind turbines of Altamont Pass has taught you nothing, obviously. Why care about the Great Lakes, the quality of their waters, and the millions of birds crossing them twice a year in their migrations when the media at large has given carte blanche to the wind industry? If it’s not in the press, Washington couldn’t be bothered, right?

In the rolling hills of Altamont, new wind turbines will replace the old ones and continue hacking raptors to death for another 25 years. A “study” was done predicting that the bigger turbines will kill only half as many eagles, and this was deemed satisfactory by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, under Washington’s orders. What the study didn’t say is that if “only” 1,500 golden eagles will be killed it’s because their numbers across the Western United States has dwindled since the onslaught of “green” policies.

Mass Poverty in Calgary as Nonwhite Numbers Rocket

The huge increase in nonwhite numbers in Calgary, Canada, has caused the number of “underprivileged Muslim families” to reach 10,000, up from just 167 in 2007, according to the Muslim Families Network Society (MFNS).

It is unknown how many individuals this involves, but presuming an average of four per household, this implies a minimum of 40,000 persons.

A report in the Calgary Herald on the latest MFNS’s “biannual halal food and clothing drive” revealed that there was a “high demand for food and Islamic clothing for Muslim families in Calgary, with numbers doubling” since the mass importation of fakers pretending to be refugees last year.

The MFNS served “7,000 underprivileged families in 2016,” and this year, the number was expected to “jump to more than 10,000.”

Eastern European Youth: Islamism Biggest Problem in the European Union

According to a new survey, young Eastern Europeans love the idea of freedom of movement but totally disagree with open doors mass migration and see Islamism as the biggest threat to the European Union (EU).

The survey, carried out by the Bertelsmann Foundation, asked young people aged 15 to 24-years-old across the Visegrad 4 countries (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic), Germany, and Austria for their opinion on the EU. Across the Eastern European nations, a majority loved the idea of being able to work in different EU states, but were totally against the bloc forcing their countries to take in high numbers of migrants, Der Spiegel reports.

Seventy per cent of those surveyed in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary did not feel their countries should be made to accept asylum seekers. The results were almost the direct opposite in Germany where 73 per cent of young Germans and 61 per cent of young Austrians believed that their country had a responsibility to care for migrants.

Renzi Calls on Dijsselbloem to Quit

Eurogroup president at centre of storm over alcohol, women jibe

(ANSA) — Rome, March 22 — Ex-premier Matteo Renzi called on Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem to quit on Wednesday after the Dutchman was quoted as saying that southern European countries “spend everything on alcohol and women and then ask for help”. “Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem missed an excellent opportunity to be silent,” Renzi said on his Facebook page. “In a German daily he let slip a stupid comment — I can’t find a better term — against the countries of the south, starting with Italy and Spain… “The sooner he resigns, the better. For him and for the credibility of the European institutions.

The controversial comments were made in an interview with German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

“During the euro crisis the countries of the north showed solidarity with the countries hit hardest,” Dijsselbloem was quoted as saying.

“As a social democrat, I give great importance to solidarity, but also to obligations.

“You cannot spend all your money on alcohol and women and then ask for help”. Italian ex-premier and former European Commission president Romano Prodi said Wednesday that “I perceived a sense of envy” when asked about the furore.

A spokesperson for German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, on the other hand, said that the minister “appreciates the work of Jeroen Djisselbloem”. The British Parliament Has Been Suspended and Westminster is on Lockdown After Police Reportedly Apprehended a Knife Attacker on the Grounds of the Houses of Parliament.

Shots were heard late afternoon on Wednesday, with authorities confirming within minutes that the Parliament was on lock down and Members of Parliament were kept in the Commons chamber.

Less than an hour after the attack London’s Metropolitan Police declared they were treating the attack as a “terrorist incident”…

Eyewitnesses report between “eight and ten” figures on the ground on Westminster Bridge, believed to have been the victim of a car ramming attack using a 4×4 vehicle. Eyewitnesses have told how the vehicle mounted the pavement and mowed down pedestrians.

It is currently believed the driver of the car then turned the corner onto Parliament Square before getting out of the car and attempting to get into the grounds of the Palace of Westminster, stabbing a police officer along the way…

The man is believed to have been shot by police and put in an air ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Britain’s Prime Minister, Theresa May, is said to have been in the division chamber, voting after Prime Minister’s Questions, when she was whisked away by a plain-clothes police officer. An air ambulance helicopter has touched down in Parliament square after the attack, which is thought to have consisted of a car attack and a knifeman.

The police and the director of security of the House of Commons have advised the Chamber of the House to be locked down…

Kuwait: Man ‘Armed With Knife’ Disrupts Catholic Mass in Kuwait City

Suspect detained; security beefed up

A citizen, carrying a concealed knife, disrupted mass at the Catholic Church in Kuwait City Sunday evening. The man was later arrested by police. No one was hurt in the incident. Interior Ministry officials confirmed that a Kuwaiti man was taken by police after causing a disturbance at the Holy Family Cathedral Sunday evening. Two eye witnesses at the church confirmed to Kuwait Times that the man was carrying a long kitchen knife.

During the service, the man dressed in a traditional dishdasha walked inside the church and went straight to where the priest was speaking. A few parishioners nearby heard that the man was asking “to see the Pope”. The man then walked to the podium and tried to seize the microphone from the priest. Several ushers then came forward and escorted him from the church premises. After being led from the church, the man was handed over to police. When he saw officers approaching, the man dropped the knife that had been hidden inside his dishdasha.

An Interior Ministry official noted that the citizen, in his 60s, suffers from mental health issues. According to the same official, who asked that his name not be published, the citizen was taken by police to the Psychiatric Hospital for monitoring, where he already has a file and has been receiving treatment. The official denied involvement of any terrorist organization or threat to the church or its parishioners.

Officials from the Holy Family Cathedral confirmed the incident as well but noted that the church is well protected — police are regularly stationed outside the church during hours of operation. There is a sizable Christian community in Kuwait, approximately 750,000 adherents. There seven officially recognized churches and many of the country’s expatriate residents from India, the Philippines and other countries attend regular church services. The Catholic Church has an estimated 500,000 followers in Kuwait.

Attacks on churches or the Christian community in Kuwait are largely unheard of. But after the June 2015 suicide bombing of the Imam Al-Sadiq mosque in Kuwait City, the Interior Ministry expanded security at local churches with a regular posted police presence.

Letter From Russia (I): Missed Opportunities

by Srdja Trifkovic

St. Petersburg is coldly beautiful even on overcast late-winter days. There’s still ice on the Neva and the canals, with the wind-chill factor dropping to the lower 20’s in the evening—a reminder that Russia’s imperial capital is a mere 7° south of the Arctic Circle. Its façades look fresher than when I was here last a decade ago, and many parts of the city’s elusive center now replicate the glitter of the Nevsky Prospekt.

I am attending a conference on the 100th anniversary of the February Revolution, revisiting the sights (like the Winter Palace, a masterpiece of Italian Baroque), and using this opportunity to gauge the informed Russian opinion on Donald Trump’s first eight weeks in office. What follows is a composite summary based on a variety of academic and media sources.

The sense that the United States has badly mismanaged its relations with Russia since the end of the Cold War now pervades all significant shades of Russian opinion. As a veteran journalist put it over dinner on Saturday night, “for a quarter of a century, administrations of both parties have ignored our interests—and often violated international law—while pushing NATO to our borders and treating Russia condescendingly. Over the years such treatment had become so normal for the American policymakers, that candidate Trump’s call for normal relations sounded radical.”…

Microsoft Delivers Secure China-Only Cut of Windows 10

Microsoft’s supremo for China has told state-owned China Daily that Redmond’s ready roll out version of Windows 10 with extra security features demanded by China’s government.

“We have already developed the first version of the Windows 10 government secure system. It has been tested by three large enterprise customers,” Alain Crozier, CEO of Microsoft Greater China told China Daily.

China used Edward Snowden’s revelations to question whether western technology products could compromise its security. Policy responses included source code reviews for foreign vendors and requiring Chinese buyers to shop from an approved list of products. Microsoft, IBM and Intel all refused to submit source code for inspection, but Redmond and Big Blue have found other ways to get their code into China.

IBM’s route is a partnership with Dalian Wanda to bring its cloud behind the Great Firewall. Microsoft last year revealed its intention to build a version of Windows 10 for Chinese government users in partnership with state-owned company China Electronics Technology Group Corp.

There’s no reason to believe Crozier’s remarks are incorrect, because Microsoft has a massive incentive to deliver a version of Windows 10 that China’s government will accept. To understand why, consider that China’s military has over two million active service personnel, the nation’s railways employ similar numbers and Microsoft’s partner China Electronics Technology Group Corp has more than 140,000 people on its books.

Not all of those are going to need Windows, but plenty will.

The Upcoming Trade War Between the U.S. And China Will be the Biggest in the History of the Planet

Some of the biggest U.S. exports to China include airplanes, autos and agricultural products, and the Chinese are ready to attack on all of those fronts. The following comes from CNN…

Here’s what Global Times, a newspaper backed by the Communist Party, had to say about how Beijing would respond to tariffs of 45%:

“A batch of Boeing orders will be replaced by Airbus,” the paper said Monday. “U.S. auto and iPhone sales in China will suffer a setback, and U.S. soybean and maize imports will be halted.”

But once again, something must be done for the long-term good of our country. We have been allowing the Chinese to flood our shores with super cheap goods, but meanwhile they have already been hitting our products with ridiculously high tariffs. Here is just one example…

U.S.-made cars exported to China face tariffs of at least 25 percent, including American-made Cadillacs. The American-made Jeep Grand Cherokee costs $27,490 at U.S. dealerships and cost at least $85,000 in China.

What we have with China today is very far from “free trade”, and if they want to trade with us they need to do so on a level playing field.

But China will never allow that to happen. As Donald Trump has correctly stated, they have been “raping” us for years, and they are going to fight very hard to keep anything from upsetting the status quo.

Trump has got to do something for the long-term good of the U.S. economy, but he has also got to try to find a way to avoid a major trade war, because a major trade war would be exceedingly painful for both countries.

Boat Migrants Landing in Italy ‘At a Pace Exceeding Anything We’Ve Seen Before’

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates 20,484 migrants have arrived in Europe by sea since the beginning of 2017, with numbers likely to explode as the continent heads into spring.

These totals do not include 3,312 migrants picked up off Libya on the 19th of March who are currently en route to Italy, according to the text of the IOM’s report.

[Comment: Don’t foget Soros funded NGO boats that wait just off the coast of Libya to transport those “refugees” (aka replacement population) to Europe.]

Group Wants to Crowd-Fund Trump’s Border Wall

President Donald Trump’s border wall project could get funding through an unlikely method: voluntary donations from private citizens.

The newly-founded America First Foundation, Inc., has started accepting donations to fund “the great wall of America,” with the ultimate goal of raising $21 billion to contribute to construction of the nearly 2,000 mile, 18 to 30-foot-high barrier between the U.S. and Mexico.

“This is not a joke, this is not a scam, this is the REAL DEAL!” a post on the group’s Facebook page reads.

America First’s founders want to bring the American people together to be part of what will be a historic construction project, securing the southern border by slowing illegal immigration, reduce drug trafficking, and reducing the burden on federal coffers

Immigration Expert: Obama’s ‘Catch and Release’ Policy Allowed Illegal Alien Rape Suspects Into the U.S.

An alleged rapist was delivered from Central America to a school hallway in Maryland by former President Barack Obama’s policy of treating economic migrants as if they were victims of crime, said an expert on illegal immigration.

“The only reason the older youth, Sanchez Milian, was in the country at all was because of the Obama administration’s catch and release policies that allowed him to be resettled in Maryland (with the support of taxpayers), with few questions asked,” the Center for Immigration Studies’ Director of Policy Jessica Vaughan told Breitbart News.

“Few groups of illegal immigrants have left such a violent mark in our community as these so-called unaccompanied minors-they are almost like modern day Marielitos (the Cuban inmates released by Fidel Castro decades ago),” she said. “Dozens have been arrested for violent crimes in Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia and Texas.”

Police arrested two illegal alien suspects, 18-year-old Henry E. Sanchez Milian and 17-year-old Jose Montano, on Thursday after staff at Rockville High School in Maryland reported a sex attack on a 14-year-old freshman who had just escaped her alleged assailants. Sanchez Milian is a citizen of Guatemala.

Italy: Village of 550 People Says No to Six Refugees

Treviso Bresciano, a village of 550 people near the town of Brescia, in northern Italy, has voted against the acceptance of six asylum seekers. The decision was made by a vote at an assembly on Friday. Citizens responded anonymously to the question “Do you want refugees to come to our territory?”. A total of 114 residents, one-fifth of the population, casted their vote and the majority said no: 68 people against, 46 for.

The public meeting was organized by mayor Mauro Piccinelli, who was elected in 2014 on a civic list. “We are using means made available by the Statute on issues that closely affect the community and it is right that citizens decide”, said the mayor. During the meeting, which included a lively debate, the Protection System for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (Sprar) was presented. Treviso Bresciano, which is located in an area called Valle Sabbia, had been invited to join the System.

Valle Sabbia is already home to 170 asylum seekers who are cared for by external cooperatives without control by local authorities. However, prefecture said that the number could increase rapidly. The hypothesis is to accommodate six asylum seekers in the Valle Sabbia municipalities that have a population of less than two thousand. Treviso Bresciano is one of them. Some mayors of local municipalities belonging to the Northern League are against the reception of refugees.

A year and a half ago in the town of Collio, near Brescia, the arrival of nineteen migrants of African origin sparked protests in the community. Stones and cherry bombs were thrown.

School Rape “Proves” Need for Immigration Control

White House spokesman Sean Spicer has pointed to a recent high school rape in Maryland — carried out by illegal invaders from South America-as evidence that illegal immigration needs to be curbed.

Speaking to the media during a daily press briefing, Spicer said, “Immigration pays its toll on our people if it’s not done legally.”

The violent rape at a Maryland high school last week, in which two illegal invaders attacked a female student is “exactly why President Donald Trump is trying to be so tough on illegal immigration,” he said.

The subject came up when Spicer was asked about the rape of a 14-year-old female student last Thursday at Rockville High School, located about 15 miles northwest of Washington D.C.

Sweden: Asylum Seeker Forced 10-Year-Old to Watch Porn Before Raping Her

An asylum seeker who forced a 10-year-old to watch pornographic films before raping her is now pleading with the Swedish government not to deport him back to Iraq.

The 45-year-old Iraqi asylum seeker known only as Ahmed was put on trial for raping the 10-year-old girl in an asylum camp in Tjörn, according to newspaper Aftonbladet. The Iraqi is said to have assaulted the 10-year-old repeatedly from July to September of last year and also raped another woman in the camp on up to 20 different occasions.

In February, Ahmed was sentenced by the district court to six years in prison followed by immediate deportation back to his native country. Ahmed met the girl through her aunt who moved in with the Iraqi after need a place for her and her niece and nephew to stay. After being raped by Ahmed, the aunt, to protect her honour, married him and continued to be abused by him for months.

The aunt eventually found out that Ahmed had been abusing her 10-year-old niece and called the police. Authorities were able to secure DNA evidence and testimony from the young girl that led to the prosecution of the asylum seeker. Despite the evidence, the court chose to ignore the accusations of assault and rape of the aunt, saying that there was doubt about the claims.

Now Ahmed is appealing the court ruling to avoid deportation back to his home country. The removal would also come with a lifetime ban on entering Sweden. The appeal is ongoing and no date has been yet set for a decision on the case.

ABC Gushes Over ‘Amazing, ‘ ‘Inspiring’ Story of Mother and Son Swapping Genders

Meanwhile, these same anchors will turn around and attack a Christian baker for choosing, with their body, not to bake a cake

According to ABC News anchors Robin Roberts and Juju Chang, there’s nothing more “inspiring” than a mother and son deciding to pump themselves full of hormones and undergo gender reassignment surgery.

– From NewsBusters.org:…

Indeed, they reportedly watched a documentary on “Jazz Jennings,” aka Jaron Bloshinsky, back in 2012 and “Corey came out to [his] parents right after watching the film.”

Such is the power of Hollywood propaganda, and rather than let the boy’s balls drop to clear up any confusion in his mind, his mom rushed to place him on hormone blockers to screw him up for life.

In a sane world this mother would be jailed for child abuse and the boy would be handed over to CPS, instead the media is celebrating their “incredible,” “inspiring” “transgender journey.”

Meanwhile, these same anchors will turn around and attack a Christian baker for choosing, with their body, not to bake a cake.

United Nations: Regulating ‘Hate’ Speech ‘Not an Attack on Free Speech’

The United Nations marked the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Tuesday by telling governments around the world that regulating “hate speech” is part of the strategy needed to “stand up for someone’s rights.”

Governments around the world “have a legal obligation to stop hate speech and hate crimes,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein reportedly said Tuesday, adding a call “on people everywhere to ‘stand up for someone’s rights,’“ the press release about the event said.

“It is not an attack on free speech or the silencing of controversial ideas or criticism, but a recognition that the right to freedom of expression carries with it special duties and responsibilities,” Al Hussein said in a statement.

“Words of fear and loathing can, and do, have real consequences,” Zeid said.

In his statement, Zeid said that U.N. member states “do not have any excuse to allow racism and xenophobia to fester.”

    • I wish I could; just got another computer, and it’s Windows 10–nothing but trouble, nothing is easy, can’t find anything. It’s as though they have gone out of their way to make everything more difficult.

      • I thought Windows 10 came with the option to install Windows 7 instead. You might look into that. My Win7 machine is over 6 years old and it’s starting to get a little wonky. I would hate to go to Win10.

      • Mate I went from XP to Windows 10. Actually had no real problems with it, apart from relearning where they hide all the stuff.

  1. Going on how China over the past decade has become a ‘global’ player in exporting Chinese ‘expertise’ to just about any country that will accept it. China’s increasing annexation of strategic islands in the South China sea for military purposes. The buying up of properties in most Western countries and the belligerent displays of military parades, sabre rattling and threats and intimidation abroad, it can’t be much longer before the U.S. and most of the West finds itself in a real war with China.

  2. I’m sorry but why arrest them instead of shooting them on the spot? Unless they gonna use all means to get information out of them, it’s useless. As for Turkey it gets clearer and clearer every day that the army coup attemp had good reason (it’s even in their frickin’ constitution – if a leader threatens democracy, the army is allowed to take him down), would be nice if Mossad took care of him

    • Be careful for what you wish for – if Yap Yap gets deposed, then Turkey may end up with Gulen, an even more radical Islamist.

  3. Erdogan is actually right about it not being long before it’s not safe on the streets. I’ll give that little fascist POS credit for at least that one.

Of course, he’s a big part of the reasons.

Europe: time to do something before this becomes the next Hitler.
    LEARN FROM HISTORY.
    You never do, apparently…

  4. Also today, as if to underscore events in London, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Europeans that it would not be long until they “will not walk safely on their streets”.
I should say that Erdogan has declared war on Europe for not bowing the knee to him and Islam. It is quite possible that the call to jihad has been issued and we will see a war of attrition using random street attacks.
Try as the Elite might, the inevitable response will be retaliatory attacks upon the Turkish communities who never really cared to become part of the host country’s citizenry as the police never did the job they were supposed to do because of instructions by the Elite. The modus may be repeated in America.
It would appear that peace has been taken away and has been replaced with a sword, or kitchen knife and car in this case.

  5. So is this the new explanation for every terrorist who acts against any society? That they merely have a history of ‘mental’ problems? And we all know the name of this historic ‘mental’ problem too don’t we? Yes, it’s a ‘mentality’ that promotes the creation of ‘problems’ in any society it finds itself in. And it began around a little over thirteen hundred years ago.
