Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/5/2016

The news feed is very light tonight. Maybe because it’s Labor Day, there’s no real news — as long as Tropical Storm Hermine stays far away from the urban warrens of East Coast progressives, that is.

In migration news, the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration says that up to 40% of the country’s registered migrants have disappeared. The monitoring system charged with tracking them can no longer find them.

In other news, President Obama called off a planned meeting with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte after the latter called him “son of a whore”.

DHS Election Takeover? Agency Itself Was Hacked

Former officer recalls major cyber breach as secretary pushes plan

As the Department of Homeland Security contemplates taking possibly unconstitutional power over the U.S. election system due to the threat of hackers, citizens should consider the fact that the agency itself was the victim of a major cyber intrusion that stole sensitive personal information of thousands of its employees, contends a former DHS officer.

That, combined with a politically correct approach to the Islamic-jihad threat that allows dangerous people to enter the country should be enough reason to reject the plan suggested by DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, contends Philip Haney, the co-author with WND News Editor Art Moore of the expose “See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad.”

The fear, Haney points out, is that the DHS could overrule powers given to local and state governments to mange their own elections under Article 1, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, not to mention the powers afforded states in the 10th Amendment.

Haney testified to Congress in June that DHS “purged” his intelligence on terrorist networks in the U.S. because it was deemed offensive to Muslims. He said the Obama administration “modified” or eliminated more than 800 of his records related to the Muslim Brotherhood network in the U.S. and also quashed a case that could have prevented the San Bernardino and Orlando attacks.

Hillary is Either a Liar or She’s Grossly Incompetent: “There is No Other Interpretation Possible”

You have got to be kidding me.

The FBI released it’s (heavily-redacted) report yesterday on Hillary’s email server and their investigation. Let me just point out a few things; you can read the whole shebang if you wish (I did); agent notes are usually quite dry, and this was no exception.

Incidentally, if you ever talk or work with these guys this is the sort of “memorialization” to expect them to take; it looks right up the middle of the line in that regard, so leave the conspiracy theories at home.

First, we’re supposed to believe that Hillary required no fewer than eight mobile devices during her tenure as Secretary of State. I don’t know what sort of garbage that is, but they were all BlackBerries, and I will note for the record that BlackBerry makes one of the more-solid pieces of hardware out there when it comes to mobile technology. I still have two Z10s — one of which I keep in my car as an emergency backup phone — that work fine; I had one that blew up due to a manufacturing defect out of warranty (heat sink paste improperly applied) and a second that my kid legitimately got salty water into and shorted it out. My kid, who is far rougher than I am on mobile devices, has had two phones in the last four years, one of which (a Z30) she’s still using. Hillary was SoS for four years and during this time we’re supposed to believe that she destroyed a phone on an average of once every six months.

I make extremely heavy use of my mobile devices and I’ve yet to have one fail in under 2 years. In addition the BlackBerry series that Hillary was using has replaceable batteries, which is the most-common failure (the battery gets weak and thus the runtime gets too short for your preference.) It defies credibility to believe that she had eight sequentially defective units during a four year period, or that she managed to wear them out.

The far more-likely reason that none were recovered is that she lost them; that is, she’s basically incompetent when it comes to handling sensitive information or the devices on which it is stored. If you can’t manage to keep a mobile device in your possession without trashing it over a period of more than six months what sort of qualification do you claim to have to be President of the Untied States?

Meet the Mastermind Behind Hillary’s Email Coverup

Newly released FBI documents detailing the bureau’s investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails reveal the aide who would likely follow her into the White House as chief counsel was central to a cover-up of evidence sought by investigators.

Yet despite signs Clinton’s former chief of staff Cheryl Mills obstructed efforts by investigators to obtain Clinton’s emails, the FBI invited Mills to attend Hillary’s interview at FBI headquarters as one of her lawyers.

U.S. CDC Giving Itself Unconstitutional Powers to Round up and Detain Citizens En Masse Anytime, Anywhere and Throw Away the Key

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention literally has overstepped its authority in proposing to grant itself powers that obviously negate any rights U.S. citizens thought they had by issuing the Proposed Rule “Control of Communicable Diseases” on August 15, 2016 wherein CDC will self-invest itself with the power to apprehend healthy people en masse and detain them indefinitely with NO process of appeal!

That mammoth proposed rule is published in the Federal Register [Federal Register Number: 2016-18103] online at this website. Before you read it, I suggest taking a very stiff shot of vodka or scotch, because you won’t believe what you read that is being proposed for what is supposed to be a non-communist country and its people, the USA!

But, the CDC wants to hear your comments about the proposed rule, as if it really cares. Citizens should file your comments at this website before October 14, 2016! Officially, it’s Comment No. CDC-2016-0068-0001.

This proposed CDC rule, in my opinion, is an “end run” or a “Hail Mary pass” around what’s become a nightmare situation in the USA regarding Big Pharma’s ‘sacred cows’-vaccines and vaccinations-which many more healthcare consumers are waking up to being what they actually are: neurotoxic injections damaging children, adults and pets!

In essence, the CDC is creating a police healthcare state, something that was tried in the 1980s when Representative Claude Pepper introduced three infamous bills that got me involved in organizing the country to defeat them, which we did, only now to be facing another round of excessive medical and federal agency over-reach, in my opinion.

[Comment: Next CDC will claim “oppositional defence disorder” (aka patriots, constitutionalists, anti-NWO types) is contagious and those “suffering” from it need to be isolated from others.]

ISIS Was Planning Massive Operation Before 2015 Paris Terror Attack

The network of ISIS jihadists behind the devastating 2015 attacks in Paris had planned for an even greater bloodbath — as well as additional strikes in other European countries, it was reported Monday.

Citing a trove of about 90,000 pages of documents from European investigations, CNN reported about another suspected terrorist, identified for the first time as Abid Tabaouni, who was linked to the Paris attacks and had been on the loose in Europe. He was only collared in July.

End-Times Geopolitics Revolving Around Turkey

Only weeks after an attempted coup threatened his rule, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is on the move both militarily and diplomatically.

Turkish forces are continuing their offensive against American-backed Kurdish forces. And the West is reeling from Turkey’s sudden rapprochement with Russia.

Now experts in prophecy warn the continued rise of Turkey and Erdogan has ominous eschatological implications.

Erdogan’s position is stronger than ever following the failed coup, with his approval ratings reaching new highs. In fact, the Turkish president has benefited so much from the abortive attempt to overthrow him many observers suspect he staged the entire thing as a false flag operation.

Obama Calls Off Meeting With Philippine Leader After ‘Whore’ Jibe

US President Barack Obama has cancelled a meeting with controversial Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who had earlier called him a “son of a whore”.

Mr Obama had said he would raise the issue of drug-related extrajudicial killings in the Philippines.

But Mr Duterte, who has sanctioned the killing of drug dealers, said if that happened: “Putang ina (son of a whore) I will swear at you in that forum.”

Aides say Mr Obama will now meet South Korea’s president instead…

Denmark Closes Refugee Tent Camps as Numbers Drop

The refugee tent camps that were established in November 2015 as Denmark faced an influx of migrants and asylum seekers will be phased out by the end of the month, DIS said.

The agency plans to close a total of 4,800 migrant accommodations, including the tent camps operated by the Danish Emergency Management Agency (Beredskabsstyrelsen — DEMA).

DIS said that 2,800 of the accommodations would be closed permanently while the other 2,000 would remain available if refugee numbers suddenly picked up again.

The tent camps are being closed because Denmark’s initiatives to reduce asylum numbers have proven effective. According to numbers released by the Immigration Ministry on Monday, just 43 people claimed asylum last week, marking the seventh consecutive week in which the number of asylum applications has been below 100.

While Denmark registered 21,000 asylum applications in 2015, only 4,700 were registered through the first eight months of 2016.

“We are following the developments in the entry numbers closely and we believe it is the right time to significantly reduce the overall capacity,” DIS head Tanja Franck said in a press release.

Of the 2,000 spaces that will be kept on stand-by, 1,000 of them will be DEMA tent spaces that “can be put in use again with a few days’ warning”.

“Experience shows that the developments within the asylum arena can quickly change and therefore we will keep a few spaces ready that can quickly be used again if the development turns around,” Franck said.

“That way, we will be better prepared for future increases in the accommodation levels than in the past two years,” she added…

‘Disappearing’ Migrants on the Rise in Switzerland

A report in the SonntagsZeitung this weekend suggested that in some areas of Switzerland up to 90 percent of migrants allocated to reception centres to await the processing of their asylum application flee the centre shortly after arriving.

Responding to the paper, the Federal Migration Office (SEM) did not confirm exact numbers but acknowledged that in the last three months between 20 and 40 percent of asylum seekers have left the system in this way, their whereabouts now unknown.

Confirming the information to news agency ATS, SEM spokeswoman Chloe Kohlprath said phenomenon was not new, and that many migrants took advantage of the system by saying they wished to claim asylum in Switzerland and then disappearing before their request could be formally registered.

Under European rules, refugees are only allowed to enter Switzerland if they say they want to claim asylum here. All those who do are allocated to a SEM reception centre to be registered.

Anyone who does not state their intention to claim asylum in Switzerland is refused entry and must return to the first European country they entered.

The Swiss have been under fire over the summer for turning back thousands of migrants at the border with Italy at Chiasso. Its strict adherence to the rules is an attempt to stop it becoming a ‘transit’ country for migrants who wish to pass through Switzerland on their way Germany in order to apply for asylum there.

According to the SEM, most of those who disappear from Swiss reception centres are thought to be heading for Germany, reported ATS.

As a result, there’s nothing to suggest that there are more illegals living in Switzerland, it said.

Hungary PM Viktor Orban Warns That the Level of Migrants Entering Europe Via the Balkans is Set to Surge as ISIS Boast Hundreds of Islamists Have Arrived Hidden as Refugees

Hungary’s Prime Minister has warned that the level of migrants entering Europe through the Balkans is set to surge as ISIS claims hundreds of jihadists have arrived among refugees.

Flows of migrants seeking safety in Europe via the Balkans could swell to the levels seen last autumn, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, warning Brussels of conflicts to come if it sought to prevent the country from defending its borders.

It comes on the same day that ISIS said Islamists have already arrived in Europe and are ready to attack.

Obama’s DHS Scolds Americans for Not Welcoming Syrians

Agency tasked with security devolves into moral posturing

The Department of Homeland Security has a simple job — to protect Americans from terrorism and disasters. But since President Obama appointed Jeh Johnson to lead the newest executive department, DHS has taken on a new responsibility — scolding Americans for not wanting enough Muslim refugees…

Haney sees a common thread in the current conduct of DHS and the way his superiors shut down investigations of Islamic terrorism during his time at the agency.

“As early as 2009, DHS began scrubbing information from our law enforcement database and from our training courses,” Haney recalled. “All of this was because of concern about violating ‘the civil rights and civil liberties’ of individuals affiliated with Muslim groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood and Tablighi Jamaat.

“I see a definite correlation between the way DHS dismisses the concerns of American citizens, while it makes immigration of Muslims from very high-risk areas of the world a major priority.”

Up to 40% of Asylum Seekers in Switzerland ‘Disappear’ — Report

Up to 40 percent of refugees who asked for asylum in Switzerland over the past three months reportedly disappeared from Swiss reception centers shortly afterwards, with their whereabouts unknown to the authorities.

The country’s State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) confirmed that within the last quarter some 20 to 40 percent of refugees who have been assigned to reception centers have vanished from the monitoring system completely, Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung reports.

  1. Clever sillies: Why high IQ people tend to be deficient in common sense by Bruce G. Charlton

    Medical Hypotheses. 2009;73: 867-870.

    Summary

In previous editorials I have written about the absent-minded and socially-inept ‘nutty professor’ stereotype in science, and the phenomenon of ‘psychological neoteny’ whereby intelligent modern people (including scientists) decline to grow-up and instead remain in a state of perpetual novelty-seeking adolescence.

These can be seen as specific examples of the general phenomenon of ‘clever sillies’ whereby intelligent people with high levels of technical ability are seen (by the majority of the rest of the population) as having foolish ideas and behaviours outside the realm of their professional expertise. In short, it has often been observed that high IQ types are lacking in ‘common sense’ – and especially when it comes to dealing with other human beings.

General intelligence is not just a cognitive ability; it is also a cognitive disposition. So, the greater cognitive abilities of higher IQ tend also to be accompanied by a distinctive high IQ personality type including the trait of ‘Openness to experience’, ‘enlightened’ or progressive left-wing political values, and atheism.

Drawing on the ideas of Kanazawa, my suggested explanation for this association between intelligence and personality is that an increasing relative level of IQ brings with it a tendency differentially to over-use general intelligence in problem-solving, and to over-ride those instinctive and spontaneous forms of evolved behaviour which could be termed common sense.

Preferential use of abstract analysis is often useful when dealing with the many evolutionary novelties to be found in modernizing societies; but is not usually useful for dealing with social and psychological problems for which humans have evolved ‘domain-specific’ adaptive behaviours. And since evolved common sense usually produces the right answers in the social domain; this implies that, when it comes to solving social problems, the most intelligent people are more likely than those of average intelligence to have novel but silly ideas, and therefore to believe and behave maladaptively.

I further suggest that this random silliness of the most intelligent people may be amplified to generate systematic wrongness when intellectuals are in addition ‘advertising’ their own high intelligence in the evolutionarily novel context of a modern IQ meritocracy.

The cognitively-stratified context of communicating almost-exclusively with others of similar intelligence, generates opinions and behaviours among the highest IQ people which are not just lacking in common sense but perversely wrong. Hence the phenomenon of ‘political correctness’ (PC); whereby false and foolish ideas have come to dominate, and moralistically be enforced upon, the ruling elites of whole nations.

  2. News: the battle for Aleppo is nearing the end, and ISIS is gonna lose.

When Obama’s plane landed in China (?) for the big summit, they did not bring out the wheelie steps and the red carpet. He had to use — not the chute, that would be too good! — the back ladder meant for the maintenance people.
