Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/24/2016

The German government warns that the Brexit vote may prompt the exit of at least five more member states from the European Union. As a result, it is proposing that the UK assume the status of an “associated partner country” with the EU, to avoid further fracturing.

In other news, at least 18 people were killed in floods in West Virginia, which did tremendous damage and reached levels not seen in a hundred years in some locations.

Sterling Tumbles, Bankers Manipulate Markets on Brexit

Pretext for more QE and arrival of helicopter money

Following the British vote to leave the European Union, markets around the world slipped into free fall on Friday.

Sterling fell to a low not seen since 1985, far below its value during the 2008 financial crisis. It lost parity against the dollar and the euro, but Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England and Chairman of the G20’s Financial Stability Board, said not to worry.

The bank announced it “has undertaken extensive contingency planning.”

Carney said volatility should be expected and the Bank of England has “extensive planning” in place. Central bankers will “not hesitate to take additional measures” and pump 250 billion pounds into the markets. The central bank said It “has undertaken extensive contingency planning.”

Donald Tusk, president of the European Council, urged calm. “I want to reassure everyone that we are prepared also for this negative scenario,” he said.

Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank, had previously said the bank would do whatever it takes to boost growth in the Eurozone.

Central bankers gathered in secrecy at the Bank for International Settlements’ tower of Basel in Switzerland ahead of the Brexit vote.

At Least 18 Dead as Historic Floods Sweep West Virginia

At least 18 people, including an 8-year-old boy who was wading in a foot of water, died in massive floods in West Virginia from a storm system that has dumped an historic amount of rain in parts of the state, state officials said Friday.

As much as 8-10 inches of rain fell in six to eight hours in parts of West Virginia, the National Weather Service said. This amount of rain in such a short time is likely a “one-in-a-thousand-year event,” the weather service said.

It was the third-deadliest flood on record in West Virginia, according to the West Virginia state climatologist Kevin Law. Only the Buffalo Creek flood in 1972 (when 125 died after a dam break) and a November 1985 flood (when 38 died from a combination of Hurricane Juan’s remnants and another storm) killed more in the state, Law said.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin told reporters Friday that damage is widespread and devastating. Saying search and rescue missions are still a top priority, Tomblin issued a state of emergency for 44 counties and deployed 150 members of the National Guard to help emergency responders.

Tomblin’s chief of staff, Chris Stadelman, said 14 deaths had been confirmed by the state medical examiner. But local sheriffs and rescue workers across the state confirmed others not yet included in the state’s official tally, the Associated Press reported.

Sheriff Jan Cahill of Greenbrier county, one of the hardest hit areas, said at least 13 were killed there. Three were killed in Kanawha County and one each in Ohio and Jackson counties.

.The heavy rains and rising water swamped towns, inundated a two-century old resort and trapped 500 people in a shopping center when a bridge was washed out. The storm also knocked out power to 66,000 West Virginians, and forced the shut off of gas in the town of White Sulphur Springs, Tomblin said…

Brexit Victory Makes Trump Presidency More Likely

Populist uprising rocks global order

The surprise Brexit vote result in the United Kingdom represents a sensational victory for populist politics and makes a Donald Trump presidency more likely.

Brits stunned the world yesterday by choosing to ditch the European Union and reclaim their own sovereignty, a result that has rocked the global order.

It’s also an outcome that could help blaze a trail for Trump all the way to the Oval Office.

“If there’s one conclusion to draw from the Brexit result, it’s that nationalist sentiments may not necessarily be visible to political elites but the right person, with the right cause, can easily bring them out,” writes Brett LoGiurato.

According to Republican pollster Frank Luntz, the result represents a massive populist uprising.

“Populism is rising everywhere as people decide that government does not listen and does not care,” said Luntz.

“But this is even more significant, because Britain has never been the source of populist uprisings like this. If Britain can vote itself out of Europe, America can vote itself in for Trump.”…

“People want to take their country back, and they want to have independence in a sense,” said Trump, adding, “People want to see borders, they don’t necessarily want people pouring into their country that they don’t know who they are and where they come from.”

The presumptive Republican nominee also commented on the outcome in a Facebook post, writing, “The people of the United Kingdom have exercised the sacred right of all free peoples. They have declared their independence from the European Union, and have voted to reassert control over their own politics, borders and economy.”

FBI Arrests Utah Man for Extreme Hate of Federal Government

The Federal Bureau of Investigations arrested and searched the home of a Stockton, Utah man who allegedly who extremely upset with the federal government, CBS affiliate KUTV reports.

CBS claims the man at the center of the FBI investigation, Bill Keebler, is also a friends with the Finnicum and Bundy families, who defended their land rights from an out of control Bureau of Land Management at the Bundy Ranch standoff.

The FBI still have not released a reason for the arrest and search of Keebler and his property, however, authorities may be inquiring about Keebler’s organization of a militia.

Facebook post’s from November, 2015, show Bill Keebler recruiting like-minded patriots to form a militia community. Although organizing a militia is not illegal, the fact that the militia is being developed to protect people from disaster, or our own Federal government may have caught the eye of investigators.

There Are Now More Bureaucrats With Guns Than U.S. Marines

Report: Non-military federal agencies spend $1.48 billion on guns and ammo since 2006

There are now more non-military government employees who carry guns than there are U.S. Marines, according to a new report.

Open the Books, a taxpayer watchdog group, released a study Wednesday that finds domestic government agencies continue to grow their stockpiles of military-style weapons, as Democrats sat on the House floor calling for more restrictions on what guns American citizens can buy.

The “Militarization of America” report found civilian agencies spent $1.48 billion on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment between 2006 and 2014. Examples include IRS agents with AR-15s, and EPA bureaucrats wearing camouflage.

“Regulatory enforcement within administrative agencies now carries the might of military-style equipment and weapons,” Open the Books said. “For example, the Food and Drug Administration includes 183 armed ‘special agents,’ a 50 percent increase over the ten years from 1998-2008. At Health and Human Services (HHS), ‘Special Office of Inspector General Agents’ are now trained with sophisticated weaponry by the same contractors who train our military special forces troops.”

Brexit Insider: EU the ‘New Soviet Union’

EU is completely undemocratic

The EU is the new Soviet Union, and the Brexit referendum is the only opportunity for the UK to escape the undemocratic European superstate, says British Lord Christopher Monckton.

“This [European Constitution] is an entirely anti-democratic constitution, in fact it’s very like the Soviet constitution on which it was modeled,” he said Wednesday on The Alex Jones Show. “All that’s happened is the Soviet constitution has moved westward, and we are now effectively the European Supreme Soviet.”

Lord Monckton explained that the globalists are using fear to deceive the public about the financial future of Britain should it decide to leave the EU.

“Don’t be fooled by all the economic arguments that the Treasury has simply made up numbers to try and say we would go bankrupt if we were out of the EU — – we’ll go bankrupt for sure if we’re in it,” he said. “In the last two decades the stock market in London has had its worst two decades in 650 years of operation. That’s how well the EU has done for us.”

Brexit: Implications for Europe and the UK

Victory by the “leave” campaign in Britain’s European Union membership referendum is a decisive rejection of Angela Merkel’s “asylum” invasion of Europe, and of EU interference in UK national politics-and could easily lead to a renewed independence bid by Scotland. It is clear from the results that the majority nonwhite cities, and the Scots, for reasons of their own, voted overwhelmingly in favor of remaining in the EU.

Britain Votes to Leave EU in Historic Divorce: BBC

LONDON — Britain has voted to leave the European Union, the BBC said based on voter tallies from Thursday’s referendum, an outcome that would set the country on an uncertain path and deal the largest setback to European efforts to forge greater unity since World War Two.

World financial markets dived as counting from 304 of 382 areas showed a 51.5/48.5 split for leaving. Sterling suffered its biggest one-day fall of 9.4 percent against the dollar on market fears the decision will hit investment in the world’s 5th largest economy, raise questions over London’s role as a global financial capital, and usher in months of political limbo.

The euro slumped nearly four percent against the dollar on concerns a “Brexit’ vote would do wider economic and political damage to what would become a 27-member union. Investors poured into safe haven assets including gold, and the yen surged.

In an early mark of international concern, Japan’s top currency diplomat Masatsugu Asakawa said he would consult with Finance Minister Taro Aso on how to respond to the market moves, describing the foreign exchange moves as very rough.

Yet there was euphoria among Britain’s eurosceptic forces, claiming a victory they styled as a protest against British political leaders, big business and foreign leaders including Barack Obama who had urged Britain to stay in the bloc.

“Dare to dream that the dawn is breaking on an independent United Kingdom,” said Nigel Farage, leader of the eurosceptic UK Independence Party.

“If the predictions are right, this will be a victory for real people, a victory for ordinary people, a victory for decent people…Let June 23 go down in our history as our independence day.”

He called the EU a “doomed project”.

Asked if Prime Minister David Cameron, who called the referendum in 2013 and campaigned to stay in the bloc, should resign if Britain voted for Brexit, Farage said: “Immediately.”

David Cameron Chokes Back Tears as He Quits in the Wake of the Historic Brexit Vote in Referendu…

[…]While Boris Johnson makes his pitch to take over as Prime Minister running a new ‘great’ Britain

Boris Johnson has made a pitch to be Prime Minister of a new ‘great’ Britain outside the EU after a devastated David Cameron announced his resignation.

Mr Johnson started to set out his vision for a revitalised, outward looking country in a speech just hours after his long-time rival tearfully declared that he would stand aside in the wake of the referendum Brexit vote.

But it immediately became clear that whoever is in Downing Street will face a struggle to hold the UK together — as SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon warned it was now ‘highly likely’ that a second ballot on independence will be held north of the border.

Leave ended up the clear winner in the EU referendum by 52 per cent to 48 per cent, after Remain’s strong performance in Scotland and big cities such as London failed to offset huge Brexit votes in England and Wales.

Dutch Anti-Immigrant Party Chief Urges ‘Nexit’ Referendum for Netherlands

BUDAPEST — The Netherlands should hold its own referendum on whether to leave the European Union following Britain’s vote in favor of exiting the bloc, the leader of the Dutch anti-immigrant PVV party, Geert Wilders, said on Friday.

Wilders’ Eurosceptical party is leading opinion polls in the Netherlands, one of the six founder nations of what has become the EU, ahead of a parliamentary election expected next March.

“I congratulate the British people for beating the political elite in both London and Brussels and I think we can do the same,” Wilders told Reuters in an interview.

“The Dutch would like to be in charge again of their own budget, their national borders and their immigration policy.”

“We should have a referendum about a ‘Nexit’ as soon as possible.”

On Thursday Britons voted to leave the 28-nation EU, forcing the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron and dealing the biggest blow to the European project of greater unity since World War Two.

Furious Labour MPs Issue Demand for Jeremy Corbyn to Quit Over His Failure to Stop Brexit or Face a Secret Ballot to Overthrow Him Next Week

Enraged Labour MPs today called for Jeremy Corbyn to resign over his failure to prevent a Brexit vote at the EU referendum.

After as many as half of Labour voters abandoned the political mainstream to support the Leave campaign, calls quickly rose for Mr Corbyn to follow the Prime Minister and fall on his sword.

Grandee Dame Margaret Hodge has tabled a motion of no confidence in Mr Corbyn and if he does not leave of his own accord, he faces a secret ballot of MPs to overthrow him.

Mr Corbyn has never had significant support among Labour MPs and would be likely to lose a secret vote.

Geert Wilders Calls for E.U. Referendum in the Netherlands

Geert Wilders, the right-wing, anti-immigrant, anti-Brussels Dutch politician, is one of the most articulate proponents of the potential merits of leaving the European Union. In an interview with The Times, he described Great Britain’s vote to leave as “a fantastic result” that showed that the bloc was far from an inevitable entity.

He predicted that others would follow suit. “The Netherlands will be next,” he said. “We want to regain control over our country, our own money, our own borders, our own immigration policy.”

He also said he expected that the economic impact would be negligible because of the importance of Britain in trade. “If the E.U. punishes Britain in any way, it will only harm itself,” he said.

On his website, Mr. Wilders wrote that June 23 would go down in history as Britain’s Independence Day. “The europhile elite has been defeated,” he wrote. “Britain points Europe the way to the future and to liberation.”…

The remains of the late Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife and other victims of the 2010 presidential plane crash will be exhumed and examined by Polish prosecutors as part of a re-launched government investigation.

“Comprehensive post-mortem examinations, also using computer tomography in the field of toxicology and DNA will be important for determining the injuries of the victims and the causes of their deaths, as well as to reconstruct the final moments of the disaster and its causes. It is vital to clarify the underlying thread of the investigation, despite several years having passed since the disaster,” a prosecution spokesman told the victims’ relatives at a meeting on Tuesday, explaining the prosecutors’ decision, Radio Poland reports.

Proposed ‘EU Army’ Hidden From British Voters Until After Brexit

EU army proposal to remain hidden From British voters until day after Brexit vote

As citizens of the United Kingdom prepare to cast their votes in a nationwide referendum to decide whether or not to leave the European Union, a plan detailing the initial framework for the creation of a European Union army is being kept hidden from the public until the day after the vote.

The Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy, which envisions the formation of new European military and operational structures, was drafted by Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

While the plan clearly lays the framework for a European Union army, details will not be released publicly until the day after the Brexit vote so as not to inflame public opinion in the UK.

Israeli Restaurants in Kosher Food Row With Jewish Authorities

Jerusalem (AFP) — Jonathan Vadai just wanted a certificate confirming his Jerusalem restaurant as kosher, but he found himself fed up with the Israeli religious authorities overseeing the process.

“I had to employ the person supervising me and pay him,” 34-year-old Vadai said at Carousela, his trendy cafe in the city’s quiet Rehavia neighbourhood.

“Sometimes he asked that I pay under the table.”

Such accusations are not unusual among Israelis, and now Vadai and others are part of an effort to break the ultra-Orthodox Jewish establishment’s monopoly on kosher certificates in the country.

They are embroiled in a legal battle over the issue with potentially wide-ranging implications.

The Chief Rabbinate, the Jewish religious authority overseeing the certificates, wields power over a range of issues in Israeli society in an arrangement that critics call outdated.

“Israeli law gives the Chief Rabbinate a monopoly on kosher supervision, but there is lots of corruption and unjust pressures,” said Aaron Leibowitz, a soft-spoken rabbi and Jerusalem city council member involved in the effort to end the monopoly.

For many Israeli Jews, knowing that a restaurant is kosher when they eat there is of paramount importance, and not having a certificate can cost owners significant business…

Up to 1.5 Million Killed by Chinese Regime for Their Organs, Report Reveals

New report details how China built a massive transplant industry through harvesting organs

Transplant surgeons in China are awash in human organs. Some complain of working 24-hour shifts, performing back-to-back transplant surgeries. Others ensure they’ve got spare organs available, freshly harvested-just in case. Some hospitals can source organs within just hours, while others report transplanting two, three, or four backup organs, when the first fails.

All this has been taking place in China for over a decade, with no voluntary organ donation system and only thousands of executed prisoners — what China says is its official organ source. In phone calls, Chinese doctors said the real source of organs is a state secret. Meanwhile, practitioners of Falun Gong have disappeared in large numbers, and many have reported being blood tested while in custody.

An unprecedented report by a small team of relentless investigators was published on June 22, documenting in sometimes astonishing detail the ecosystem of hundreds of Chinese hospitals and transplant facilities that have been operating quietly in China since around 2000.

Australian Navy Cadets ‘Forced to Rape Each Other in Training’ As ‘Rite of Passage’

A Royal Commission into abuse within the Australian Navy has heard graphic claims that cadets were forced into sexual abuse including raping each other and details of a teenage girl who committed suicide following a sexual relationship with an instructor.

The abuse has been described as a “rite of passage”, which included violent initiations rituals including “blackballing”, which involved putting shoe polish on genitals and a “royal flush” which put people’s heads in a used toilet and flushing it.

The commission heard how victims who complained of the claims were told to “suck it up… it will make a man out of you,” the Australian Telegraph reported.

ICE Underreported 13,288 Criminal Convictions of Aliens Released in 2014

“The Obama Administration’s record of releasing criminal aliens has gone from bad to worse”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) underreported 13,288 criminal convictions of aliens who were released by the agency in 2014, according to new information released Tuesday by the House Judiciary Committee.

“The Obama Administration’s record of releasing criminal aliens has gone from bad to worse,” Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) said in a statement, adding that “there’s no excuse for this large discrepancy.”

“We already know that the Obama Administration’s refusal to detain and remove tens of thousands of criminal aliens poses dangers to American communities and the rule of law, and now we know that the Administration has not been straightforward with Congress about how hazardous its policies truly are,” Goodlatte said.

In April 2015, ICE reported that in fiscal year 2014, it released 30,558 criminal aliens who were convicted of 79,059 crimes, including: 86 homicides, 186 kidnappings, 373 sexual assaults, 1,346 convictions for domestic violence, 1,589 weapons violations, 2,372 assaults, and 13,636 drunk driving offenses.

Muslim Child Sex-Assault Suspects Back on Streets of Idaho

CAIR laments ‘lightning rod’ case resulting in ‘anti-refugee’ sentiment.

The two Muslim migrant boys from Sudan who were arrested last week on charges of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in Idaho were released into the custody of their parents following a hearing Thursday afternoon, WND has learned.

They were reportedly released from the Snake River Juvenile Detention Center in Twin Falls pending their next hearing.

According to witnesses on the scene, the boys’ families were seen smiling and hugging after the hearing ended shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday.

“They were waving their arms to the heavens, smiling and throwing their arms around each other,” an eyewitness outside the detention center told WND.

The two Sudanese boys, ages 10 and 14, were reportedly ordered by the court to have no contact with the victim, a 5-year-old special-needs girl, whom they allegedly assaulted in the laundry room of their apartment complex on June 2. They were not arrested until late last week. A third boy, age 7, was also involved but was never arrested. The younger boys allegedly urinated on the girl and one of them inappropriately touched her but the extent of that violation is not known. The case has been sealed by the prosecutor, which is standard procedure in juvenile offenses.

The older boy, 14, allegedly filmed the entire incident.

Megaprocessor Just Completed.

What? The Megaprocessor is a micro-processor built large. Very large.

How? Like all modern processors the Megaprocessor is built from transistors. It’s just that instead of using teeny-weeny ones integrated on a silicon chip it uses discrete individual ones like those below. Thousands of them. And loads of LEDs.

Why? — long answer : Computers are quite opaque, looking at them it’s impossible to see how they work. What I would like to do is get inside and see what’s going on. Trouble is we can’t shrink down small enough to walk inside a silicon chip. But we can go the other way; we can build the thing big enough that we can walk inside it. Not only that we can also put LEDs on everything so we can actually SEE the data moving and the logic happening. It’s going to be great.

Where? Here. Cambridge.

When? Now. As of 22nd June 2016 it is built. There’s a diary of the build progress here. (Last update 22 June 2016)

  1. Marxists inside the dying West are eating it alive. The Brits just realized it; American voters are too stupid to comprehend it. No one even twitches when the judgies say white men aren’t to be treated fairly when applying to public colleges, compared to everyone else applying. Dingbats need to lose the right to vote before it is too late for America. Leftist judgies need to find honest employment, too!

  2. If the Eu was such a good deal Switzerland would have been first in line to sign up. BTW norway seems to be doing quite well. I ask what country in their right mind would just sign away their sovereignty, for the false promise of a Utopian Socialist Paradise?

    • Rephrase your question: “Why would a country sign away their sovereignty?”

Two answers: greed and wistful thinking.

The EU is now offering unfettered access to German money (greed), supposedly without the condition of asserting ultimate control over Britain (wistful thinking). But, it’s an ironclad rule of human affairs: “He who pays the piper, calls the tune.”

Merkel apparently isn’t willing to give up the Fourth Reich without additional chicanery. Hopefully, the British will see through it, but Cameron’s remaining until October is not a good sign.

The EU is a thoroughly evil entity. Sometimes you have to deal with evil countries or groups, but you never, ever affiliate with them.

      • I absolutely agree with you that Cameron’s staying on until October is not a good sign! He should go now. There are plenty of other pollies who can fill that vacuum. Also I find your comment about the Fourth Reich spot on!

        • Just heard Cameron will be staying on until Sept.
The Brits need to get rid of him NOW! The man is poison. They should appoint an interim PM and get on with things!
