Moody’s Warns Bridge Collapse is “Credit Negative” for Baltimore as Economic Shock Emerges

Instead of the woke Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott utilizing his precious time by going on corporate media’s leftists Joy Reid’s MSNBC show and asserting that white conservatives “should be afraid” of the consequences of calling him the ‘DEI Mayor,’ perhaps the unseasoned youngster who over-promised about fixing imploding Baltimore City (after fifty years of a Democratic-controlled City Hall) should realize the local economy is on the cusp of meltdown and potential negative credit risk event following the bridge collapse and resulting paralyzed port.

The Port of Baltimore is a significant economic driver for the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland, and an extended closure will spread like cancer through the local economy as snarled supply chains will result in job losses, lower warehouse activity, and tax revenue loss for the government.

“I would say the Port of Baltimore is the leading economic driver for the region in Baltimore,” Anirban Basu, chairman and CEO of Baltimore-based Sage Policy Group Inc., told FreightWaves.

Philadelphia Fed Admits US Payrolls Overstated by at Least 800,000

The first red flags emerged in the summer of 2022: that’s when the Biden Labor Department started well and truly rigging the labor market data.

Regular readers may recall that it was back in July of 2022, when we first warned that something had “snapped” in the labor market: that’s when a striking discrepancy emerged between the number of US Payrolls (as measured by the BLS’ Establishment Survey, a far more crude and imprecise, yet much more market-moving data series), and the number of actual Employed Workers (as measured by the BLS’ far more accurate Household Survey) . As we showed then, after the two series had tracked each other tick for tick for years, a wide gap opened in March 2022 which quickly grew to 1.5 million jobs in just 3 months…

300 Women Join Lawsuit Filed Against Chicago-Area Health System After Gynecologist Accused of Sexual Abuse

CHICAGO (CBS) — A total of 300 women filed a lawsuit against a Chicago OB/GYN employed for decades by NorthShore University Health System and Swedish Hospital.

Fabio Ortega, 77, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two patients in October 2021. He is now a registered sex offender. He was sentenced to three years in prison time and has been off parole since October of last year.

The civil lawsuit details alleged sex abuse stemming back to the early 1990s, and some of the details are quite disturbing.

“Swedish and NorthShore enabled this sexual predator to abuse hundreds of women for numerous decades,” said Parker Stinar, an attorney and founding partner at Stinar Gould Grieco & Hensley.

The lawsuit said Ortega worked at what was then known as Swedish Covenant Hospital between approximately 1989 and 2007. During that time, he had “a pattern or practice of disguising his sexual abuses as necessary medical care through a variety of techniques.”

Everyone Named in the Latest Diddy Lawsuit

This week, Homeland Security raided Sean “Diddy” Combs’s homes in both Miami and Los Angeles. According to reports, the search warrants were connected to a federal investigation in Manhattan related to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and the solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms. Combs has been facing legal trouble since November, when ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura sued him for physical and sexual abuse.

In February, Combs’s former producer and videographer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a federal lawsuit against the rapper, claiming that Diddy sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him. Additionally, Jones claimed that Combs and his team were “engaging in serious illegal activity” including drug trafficking, sex trafficking, soliciting sex workers, providing laced drinks to minors, and sexual assault. Jones’s case made headlines again this week after he amended his complaint, adding 25 pages and a new defendant.

In addition to Combs, there are several notable figures named in the suit. In the amended suit, Jones lists an Oscar-winning actor as a defendant, name drops a member of the British royal family, and claims that one of the City Girls personally transported drugs on a private plane for Combs. So who are all the people named in the sex-trafficking lawsuit against Diddy? Here’s what we know.

Facebook Used “Man-in-the-Middle” Approach to Snoop on Users’ Encrypted Traffic in Secret Project

Unsealed court documents in California — part of a class action lawsuit filed by consumers against Meta and alleging anti-competitive behavior via deceptive data extraction — have revealed that back in 2016, Facebook came up with a secret project dubbed “Ghostbusters.”

We obtained a copy of the documents for you here.

What Facebook effectively did was use man-in-the-middle attack-style ways to intercept encrypted traffic, initially targeting competitor Snapchat (hence the project’s name, referring to the Snapchat logo), to later expand this to Amazon and YouTube.

FTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried Sentenced to 25 Years for Crypto Fraud, to Pay $11 Billion in Forfeiture

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Thursday for the massive fraud and conspiracy that doomed his cryptocurrency exchange and a related hedge fund, Alameda Research.

The sentence in Manhattan federal court was significantly less than the 40 to 50 years in prison that federal prosecutors wanted for Bankman-Fried, but it was much more than the five to six-and-a-half years suggested by his attorneys.

“There is a risk that this man will be in position to do something very bad in the future,” Judge Lewis Kaplan said before sentencing the 32-year-old and ordering him to pay $11 billion in forfeiture to the U.S. government.

“And it’s not a trivial risk at all,” Kaplan added.

Kaplan noted he has never heard “a word of remorse for the commission of terrible crimes” from Bankman-Fried.

The judge said that in the 30 years on the federal bench, he had “never seen a performance” like Bankman-Fried’s trial testimony.

Kari Lake Declines to Defend Defamation Lawsuit Filed by Arizona Election Official

PHOENIX (AP) — Kari Lake, a Republican Senate candidate in Arizona who says she lost a 2022 race for governor because of fraud, is declining to defend against a defamation lawsuit filed by a top election official.

Lake this week asked a judge to jump directly to the damages phase of the lawsuit filed by Republican Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer. The extraordinarily rare request for a default judgment seeks to bypass the opportunity to argue her statements weren’t defamatory, skipping ahead to determine how much she owes Richer.

The court had already rejected her motion to dismiss the case, and the Arizona Supreme Court declined to take her appeal.

Nine states are planning to ban new gasoline-powered vehicle sales by 2035 as part of an initiative to cut climate-warming emissions.

Since the rules were first adopted in California in 2022, eight other states have followed suit, with several others considering the plan.

Republican States File Lawsuit Challenging Biden’s Student Loan Repayment Plan

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A group of Republican-led states is suing the Biden administration to block a new student loan repayment plan that provides a faster path to cancellation and lower monthly payments for millions of borrowers.

In a federal lawsuit filed Thursday, 11 states led by Kansas argue that Biden overstepped his authority in creating the SAVE Plan, which was made available to borrowers last year and has already canceled loans for more than 150,000.

It argues that the new plan is no different from Biden’s first attempt at student loan cancellation, which the Supreme Court rejected last year. “Last time Defendants tried this the Supreme Court said that this action was illegal. Nothing since then has changed,” according to the lawsuit.

SEC Scores Big Win in Lawsuit Against Crypto Exchange Coinbase

The Securities and Exchange Commission scored a major win in its lawsuit against Coinbase on Wednesday, as a judge ruled that its claim that the cryptocurrency exchange engaged in unregistered sales of securities could be heard by a jury at trial.

Coinbase’s shares fell around 2.5% on news of the ruling in Manhattan federal court rejecting its bid to dismiss the SEC’s complaint.

The regulator first filed suit against Coinbase in June, alleging the company was acting as an unregistered broker and exchange. The agency also demanded the company be “permanently restrained and enjoined” from continuing to do so.

In her ruling Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla wrote, “The ‘crypto’ nomenclature may be of recent vintage, but the challenged transactions fall comfortably within the framework that courts have used to identify securities for nearly eighty years.”

Shifting Election Narratives and Tech Collusion: Federal Government Continues Outreach to Tech Companies

The “new unofficial rules” around US elections were set years ago: if one side wins, the integrity of the vote cannot be questioned at all; if they don’t, then it must be questioned.

And for Democrats the preferred way to do the latter is to bring up “foreign meddling.” This is now also done “preemptively,” ahead of a ballot.

And, this is proving to be useful in justifying many things, some of which should be considered blatantly illegal, such as the government colluding with private tech companies to censor speech online.

The Golden Apple — A Socialist Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there was a street fair. Then the government created a Ministry of Street Fairs funded by taxing the produce sold at the street fair. At first the Ministry brought some some order to the street fair. But to justify its expansion, it would periodically launch new “street fair initiatives” paid for by higher taxes on the produce. The higher taxes are passed on to customers as higher produce prices and people stop shopping at the street fair.

After some consultation the Ministry of Street Fairs launches an “Emergency Street Fair Stimulus Plan” to promote shopping at the street fair. The stimulus plan offers people credit for shopping at the street fair. But the credit has to be paid for by doubling the price of all the produce. That and the welter of new hidden regulations embedded in the stimulus plan raises expenses for the sellers, who in turn have to raise prices. There is a short term burst of shoppers excited by the credit, which quickly fades away. The credit goes away soon enough too, but the prices stay just as high.

The Ministry of Street Fairs realizes that people are shopping for their produce at supermarkets instead. And it demands that supermarkets also be classified as street fairs, and put under the jurisdiction and tax authority of the Ministry. A Bill is introduced, “The Supermarkets are now Street Fairs” bill, to put supermarkets under the Ministry’s authority, and tax them at twice the rate of street fairs. Supporters of the bill denounce the evil “Supermarket Lobby” for profiteering at the expense of the starving children who need fresh fruit and the poor street fair sellers, who wish the Ministry would just go away. The bill passes. The Ministry is congratulated for its commitment to fighting for the right of everyone to buy fruit at vastly inflated prices.

Very few people shop for produce anymore because it has become far too expensive. Falling sales mean that merchants have to raise their prices even more to compensate for decreased sales volume. Many supermarkets and sellers go out of business, creating more unemployment and even fewer people who can afford fruit. Fruit growers and importers in turn go out of business or turn to other products. Fresh fruit becomes a luxury that only the very rich can afford.

The Ministry of Street Fairs responds by creating a “Fruit Dole” which entitles every child to one apple and pear a week. This dole comes once again at the expense of the fruit sellers, which raises the general price of fruit once again. Charismatic young politicians speak out demanding “Fruit for the People” and denouncing those who prevent the people from having access to fruit. The blames falls on the fruit sellers. A radical “Fruit People’s Party” is created with a call to equal fruit for everyone.

The Ministry decides to regulate the price of fruit, setting an exact price at which fruit may be sold. The taxes on fruit sellers however remain just as high. Most of the fruit sellers go out of business. The few who remain in business, sell bad fruit at the mandated price to the public, while selling good fresh fruit under the table at much higher prices. Now everyone can afford fruit, but the only fruit they can buy is rotten and moldy…

Merchan issued the order following a request from Manhattan’s George Soros-funded Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

YouTube Says it Has a “Responsibility” to Manipulate Algorithms Leading Up to the 2024 Election

“Responsibility” is a good word. It’s even better as an actual thing. But even just as a word, it’s a positive one. It signals that reliable people/entities are behind some project, or policy.

So no wonder then, that the thoroughly disgraced Google/YouTube — as far as censorship and biased political approach — are trying to use the word “responsibility” as a narrative fig leaf to cover what the giant platform is actually up to — and has been, for a long while.

Enter, YouTube’s newest chief product officer, Johanna Voolich. What are the priorities here? It could be summed up as, four R’s and One C — namely, YouTube’s “remove, raise, reward, reduce” content approach — that’s as per a blog post published by YouTube itself.

Czech Officials Say Dutch Politicians Were Offered Cash to Back Russian Propaganda

An investigation by Czech intelligence service BIS uncovered payouts by a website based in Prague to politicians in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Hungary and Poland. The website, Voice of Europe, was accused of spending hundreds of thousands of euros in 2023 to get politicians and opinion makers in those countries to spread Russian propaganda points. Dutch far-right political leader Thierry Baudet, who threatened violence in Parliament when questioned over funding sources for his Forum voor Democratie (FvD) party, declined to show up in person for a meeting on Thursday to discuss his outbursts.

The Czech investigation announced on Wednesday did not specifically identify any politicians suspected of accepting money from Voice of Europe. The website promotes pro-Russian news and viewpoints in more than a dozen languages, including English and Dutch. Baudet has been frequently featured by the media outlet, and was often quoted in their articles, especially last year.

Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Wednesday gave an interview to Russian state-run English language media wherein she continued to advance the Kremlin’s claims that the Ukrainian government or its Western partners likely had something to do with the the Crocus City Hall terror attack.

She said the US government has backed itself “into a corner” given that officials made bold statements too quickly in the aftermath.

“The very fact that within the first 24 hours [after the attack], even before the fire was put out, the Americans started screaming that it wasn’t Ukraine, I think, is a piece of incriminating evidence. I can’t classify it otherwise; it is evidence in and of itself,” Zakharova told Sputnik.

  1. Some comments about the article “AP Wins Award for Photo of Half-Naked, Murdered Jewish Woman Shani Louk Taken by Hamas-Affiliated ‘Photojournalist’ on Oct. 7”. If you compare this picture with the ones when Shani was brought into Gaza and spat upon, you may notice a difference in size of the clothing covering her bottom. In the latter case, it may very well be just her underwear. If so, there might be a question as to how this happened.

    a. Shani Louk just captured. https://postimg.cc/3WCrDzp3

    a. Spitting in Shani’s body. https://postimg.cc/21Nqfn45

    b. Shani in truck. https://postimg.cc/SjYHz9Mq

      Yada, yada, yada.
The ONLY photo I wanna see—for Shani and all other Jews who’ve been harmed by these feral monsters—is the one of a [huge] mushroom cloud rising miles above Mecca (for starters). Now, that’d be a CROWDPLEASER!

      • I would use plenty of napalm and Wille Pete and cluster munitions and make Gaza Fakey free, until none are left. No more muzzy’s = No more problems. Simples

  2. What a sick joke this “International Court of Justice” has become. Did it order the Palestinians to release all hostages, at once and without conditions? Unless and until it does, it has no standing whatsoever.

    • Last time I looked, I am and you are sovereign citizens of a sovereign country, since when did we become so called internationals citizens when they have jurisdiction on a damned thing? Hang the court, they have zero jurisdiction on you or I or anyone else for that matter, burn that building to the ground and hang the lawyers and so called judges for good measure and a lesson to anyone else who thinks they rule over you or I.

  3. regarding the eating of a severed human leg in broad daylight in the heart of Enlightenment territory, there is a carved wooden figure in the Stuttgart Landes Museum as part of the Dukes of Wurttemberg collection that depicts a naked German woman in good physical condition eating a leg roughly severed above the knee that looks remarkably like the one from this week’s event. The figure predates the arrival of the ostensibly responsible recreational drugs into Stuttgart that the producers of certified opinion (aka psychiatrists) provide as explanation every single time that it is wanted or needed by Power. There is an adjacent carved figure that is almost certainly made by the same person depicting a peasant lady bashing into a devil with a club. I assume that the later is intended as prophylactic against the former behaviour. The same collection has an iron mask not so different to the silence of the lambs which likewise might have seen service in their treatment of cannibalism. Nothing new?

The economic system is no longer fit for the purpose of providing social stability hence the merchants are set to be replaced by the warrior caste in accordance with a millennial-scale cycle (Thomas Hobbes, Leviathan; David Graeber, Debt: The First 5,000 Years). What is new is that the linear process of technological development allows circumvention of the cyclic process. Those with sufficient control of the atom and of biology, and who employ total surveillance and control over primary human needs have no intention of being subject to the cycles that operated under prior conditions.

The popularist political movement attempts to bring the power of technology under a meaningful degree of control by the masses. Notably the only success has been in collaboration with Elon Musk who has experienced civil war chaos, and for some reason does not despise humanity. Assuming that the technologists prevail and plug the useless eaters into virtual reality, then we will probably discover imagination so wild that virtual cannibalism quickly becomes blase (as with the big bang, will it dissipate out into nothingness or collapse back into sludge)? Alternatively if the technologists prefer their world purged of the useless eaters, then some of the west that persists will rediscover the utility of some aspects of the medieval mindset under the new conditions. So called traditional societies can return to their currently celebrated foundations. After all, you can’t eat money.

  4. Again: “The nature of civilization is such that it serves as a framework within which people may live together, however fractiously. Great wars may be fought, but a few rules essential to the preservation of any organized society will prevail. The truly barbarous know no such rules, cannot be made to live with the civilized, and must be EXTERMINATED as a threat to all mankind no less dangerous (or deserving of compassion) than a plague. There are relatively few things that separate the civilized from the truly barbarous. We would argue that paramount among these is a respect for the sanctity of innocent life, especially women and children, and when possible, civilian populations as a whole. Historically, this line has seldom been crossed by any tribal, royal or national entity. This sanctity is not an absolute thing. It is quite common for innocents to be injured and killed as “collateral damage” in a strike against a legitimate military target, but the deliberate, wholesale slaughter of women and children clearly separates the terrorist from mankind, rends their humanity nominal, and LEGITIMIZES THEIR EXTERMINATION.” —”Terrorism Isn’t Rocket Science” (2002)

History keeps repeating itself and only the names and dates change….BECAUSE only the names and dates change.

    Just sayin’, again….ad absurdum.

    • You will live to see of the return of wars of total annihilation. Civilized rules of war were for civilized people, the 3rd world is not civilized, therefore the rules go out the window. Only the vanquished whine about how the Victors won.
