California Budget Crisis Worse Than Newsom Projected, as State Watchdog Warns Deficit Could Reach Record $73b

California’s budget crisis is projected to expand more than previously thought and could hit a record deficit of $73 billion, according to a new report from the state’s nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO).

The LAO laid out the grim forecast in a Tuesday report that cautions that a $24 billion “erosion in revenues” corresponds to a $15 billion increase in the state’s budget problem. Due to this, the budget deficit, which last month was estimated to hit $58 billion, could now go as high as $73 billion.

Alito Issues Fiery 10-Page Dissent as Supreme Court Declines to Review Elite High School Admissions Case

Two of the Supreme Court’s conservative justices issued a fiery dissent Tuesday after the high court declined to hear a case challenging a Virginia high school’s admissions program that allegedly discriminates against Asian Americans.

A coalition of parents of students at Thomas Jefferson High School, the nation’s top-ranked high school, appealed to the Supreme Court claiming that the Ivy League feeder imposes a roundabout way of filtering for race in admissions that they say violates the Supreme Court’s June 2023 ruling on affirmative action in college admissions. That case decided that the use of race as a factor in college admissions is a violation of the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.

Biden’s Firing of Attorney General Opens Up Obstruction of Justice Case

The Mueller report suggested that former President Trump could be charged with obstruction of justice because of his decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey and alleged pressure on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to fire Mueller. Now a report has emerged that Biden is planning to fire Attorney General Merrick Garland over special counsel investigations.

While the media made much of the obstruction of justice allegations at the time, it’s shown little interest in its own reporting which implicated Biden in multiple instances of obstruction of justice.

A recent Politico report described Biden complaining that Attorney General Merrick Garland did not stop Special Counsel Hur from editing out mentions of his diminished mental capacity in his report, that Garland should not have allowed a special counsel to look into his son’s misconduct and finally that Garland had failed to schedule a trial of former President Trump quickly enough.

As a result, Politico reported that Biden would oust Garland if he gets a second term.

Not only was Biden interfering with supposedly independent investigations of himself and his son, but even into criminal proceedings aimed at his likely opponent in the presidential race. The interference has become crude and overt enough that it now includes media leaks threatening the job of his attorney general for not sufficiently protecting him from investigations.

And for not doing enough to schedule his presidential opponent’s trial before the election…

The $15 billion will be made “towards making right the wrong perpetuated on Boston’s Blacks,” Peterson said at a news conference. “The wealth of this city was built on slavery.”

Suspect in Brutal Soho Hotel Murder Arrested in Violent Arizona Crime Spree: Sources

A suspect in the brutal death of a woman who was found bludgeoned in a Manhattan hotel room earlier this month was arrested in Arizona after an alleged crime spree, according to two senior law enforcement officials.

The NYPD identified the suspect as 26-year-old Raad Almansoori. The arrest comes after a federal bulletin was put out about him last week.

Police said he stabbed a woman at a Surprise, Arizona, McDonalds Saturday after dragging her into a restroom against her will. Almansoori was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona on Sunday while allegedly driving a stolen car.

During questioning he allegedly told cops he’d stabbed a woman he tried to carjack in Phoenix the day before, on Feb. 17 — a mere nine days after the body of Denisse Oleas-Arancibia was found in a SoHo hotel room.

Toronto Police Say 2 Bus Stop Shooting Victims Were Innocent, Shot ‘Indiscriminately’

Toronto police say two victims who were shot near a north Toronto bus stop last weekend were hit “indiscriminately” while going about their day.

At a news conference Tuesday, Det. Sgt. Phillip Campbell said 39-year-old Adu Boakye was walking by a bus shelter near Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue when he was fatally shot Saturday afternoon.

Boakye was “innocently going about his business,” Campbell said, as was the 16-year-old boy who was shot in the same area and sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries almost 24 hours prior.

“We believe these two victims were shot indiscriminately,” said Campbell, adding neither victim has any affiliation with gang-related activity.

“One person is dead and the other has had their life altered forever.”

[…]

Although no arrests have been made, Toronto police say they are looking for a Black male around 18 to 25 years old, with a thin build.

He was seen wearing a black coat, a white hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, a black face covering and possibly a white surgical mask underneath.

Investigators say they can’t rule out the possibility that the attacks were related to gang violence.

EU Extends Mass Surveillance of Private Messages on Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, and Xbox Until April 2026

Never fully trust any “voluntary” nature regarding “voluntary codes” — involving massive corporations and nations states, or, in this case, a transnational organization like the EU.

Usually, these are little else than an opportunity for those who have a lot to lose (in this case, Big Tech) to do some self-censorship and/or speech curtailing in general — before the government/government-like regulators step in to punish them for not being properly aligned with their policies. And, indeed, politics.

It’s obvious why both sides would likely play along. Governments don’t want to show their authoritarian sides, and corporations don’t want to lose money.

Protesting Polish Farmers Block Much of Ukraine’s Western Border

As the war continued to rage in Ukraine’s east, much of its Western border was blocked on Tuesday by another fight, this one with Polish farmers.

The farmers have for months been protesting an influx of Ukrainian products that they say is crowding the Polish market and undercutting their livelihood. On Tuesday, they obstructed check points for commercial transportation, halted the passage of about 3,000 Ukrainian trucks and opened some train cars containing Ukrainian grain, spilling it onto the rails.

“It’s either us or them,” a Polish farmer said on Tuesday on the Polish TV channel Polsat News. “Someone must be interested in us.”

The demonstration prompted a counterprotest in Ukraine, where previous blockades by Polish truckers have hampered the supply chain of goods reaching the country, causing shortages that have begun to affect soldiers on the battlefield.

WikiLeaks Founder Assange Faces His Last Legal Roll of the Dice in Britain to Avoid US Extradition

LONDON (AP) — Julian Assange’s lawyers opened a final U.K. legal challenge Tuesday to stop the WikiLeaks founder from being sent to the United States to face spying charges, arguing that American authorities are seeking to punish him for exposing serious criminal acts by the U.S. government.

Lawyer Edward Fitzgerald said Assange may “suffer a flagrant denial of justice” if he is sent to the U.S. At a two-day High Court hearing, Assange’s attorneys are asking judges to grant a new appeal, his last legal roll of the dice in Britain.

Assange himself was not in court. Judge Victoria Sharp said he was granted permission to come from Belmarsh Prison for the hearing, but had chosen not to attend. Fitzgerald said the 52-year-old Australian was unwell.

The US Vetoes an Arab-Backed UN Resolution Demanding an Immediate Humanitarian Cease-Fire in Gaza

In a surprise move ahead of the vote, the U.S. shared a rival resolution that would support a temporary cease-fire in Gaza linked to the release of all hostages.

The United States vetoed an Arab-backed U.N. resolution Tuesday demanding an immediate humanitarian cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war in the embattled Gaza Strip.

The vote in the 15-member Security Council was 13-1 with the United Kingdom abstaining, reflecting the wide global support for ending the more than four-month war that started with Hamas’ surprise invasion of southern Israel that killed about 1,200 people and saw 250 others taken hostage. Since then, more than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s military offensive, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which doesn’t distinguish between civilians and combatants but says the majority are women and children.

It was the third U.S. veto of a Security Council resolution demanding a cease-fire in Gaza.

The Biden administration had said it would veto the resolution because of concerns it would interfere with efforts to arrange a deal between the warring parties aimed at bringing at least a six-week halt to hostilities and releasing all hostages.

Russia’s Air Force Took Control of the Skies Before Seizing Victory in a Front-Line Fight, and it Could be ‘Devastating’ for Ukraine if it Continues, War Experts Say

As Russia’s ground forces pushed to capture Avdiivka, its air force appeared to establish air superiority over the war-torn town, clearing the way for critical close-air-support missions, conflict analysts assessed.

Although only temporary and localized, it appears to be the first time Russia has taken control of the skies in a front-line area since their full-scale invasion began almost two years ago. And if it continues or expands, a real possibility as Ukrainian air defenses are under significant stress, it could be “devastating,” war experts said.

On Saturday, Russia claimed victory in Avdiivka, a Ukrainian town northeast of occupied Donetsk. Despite it being hailed as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s biggest victory since the fall of Bakhmut in May 2023 — and a timely one given the upcoming Russian presidential elections next month — it came at a high cost. Moscow has suffered severe losses of both troops and equipment since focusing its forces on Avdiivka last fall.

Hugo Awards Accused of Self-Censorship to Appease China

Critics around what’s happened with Hugo Awards last fall may be prompted to say — well this is one of those things you just can’t make up.

Even if, this is about Hugo Awards — set up specifically for “things” i.e., prose, decisively made up, and no qualms about it.

But it’s the annual literary awards ceremony for the best science fiction or fantasy, given at the World Science Fiction Convention that keeps causing a stir.

The problem is this: last October, Hugo Awards were taking place in China. The US-based Worldcon was reportedly behind most of the goings-on.

But China had a problem with some of that, the newly leaked emails seem to show.

South Africa’s Unemployment Rate, the Highest in the World, Continues to Rise Ahead of Election

The Quarterly Labor Force Survey reported that the number of unemployed working-age people in South Africa rose to 7.9 million after 46,000 more became unemployed in the last three months of 2023, increasing from 31.9%.

The news is a blow to the ruling African National Congress party as it faces its steepest election test ever in a few months. The desperately high unemployment rate is a key voter issue.

Dutch Leader Blames Ukrainian Refugees for Lack of Government Reform, Lashes Out Against the Netherlands

Dutch far right leader Geert Wilders, who won the most seats in an election three months ago but has so far failed to form a new coalition government, said on Monday the Netherlands was “Europe’s fool” for accepting too many Ukrainian refugees.

Wilders opposes continuing military aid to Ukraine, arguing that the Netherlands needs to keep its weapons to defend itself. The position is one of several issues dividing his far right Freedom Party (PVV) from potential coalition partners.

“Ukrainians are coming to the Netherlands in droves, not because of the war, but for free housing, free care and our jobs,” Wilders said in a post on X. “Once again, we are Europe’s fool.”

Google to Start Running “Prebunk” Ads and Quizzing YouTube Viewers to Fight So-Called “Misinformation”

Prebunking — until relatively recently it was just one of the fringe concepts in the relentless “war on misinformation industrial complex.”

A short way to describe it is as a dystopian version of debunking false or incorrect information. But here the idea is to stop users (“help them identify”) unwanted content, before they can even see it.

A short way to describe what’s wrong with the “war on misinformation” is that it all too easily turns into a smokescreen for plain censorship of lawful and factually correct speech.

And now, prebunking is moving from ideations pushed by murky “fact-checking” and similar outfits, to the very top of the mainstream — Google.

    French “Democracy” Establishes Medical Tyranny

    by Paul Craig Roberts

Professor Michel Chossudovsky, director of Global Research, has examined the new French law that defines dissent from official medical narratives as a “sectarian aberration” and criminalizes dissent from medical narratives, such as “the mRNA vaccine is safe and effective.”

The law also creates a new crime called “provocation to abstention from medical care.” A French citizen is guilty of a crime if the person refuses a vaccine or medical treatment handed down by authorities. Had the law been in place during the mass vaccination campaign with the deadly mRNA “vaccine,” all who refused would have received three years imprisonment and paid a 45,000 euro fine. This ensures that next time everyone will receive the “vaccine,” because if you refuse you will be imprisoned and the prison rules will require you to be “vaccinated.”

The new law also protects the pharmaceutical corporations from any accountability for the deaths and health damage their lies caused by criminalizing French citizens–including doctors and medical scientists–who speak against the Covid-19 “vaccines.” This demonstrates the power of Big Pharma over democracy, which with this death blow given to free speech and medical fact no longer exists in France.

    Here is Professor Chossudovsky’s account:

    https://www.globalresearch.ca/frances-draft-law-citizens-whospeak-out-against-the-covid-19-vaccine-3-years-prison-and-e45000-fine/5849818

This is a very serious development. It is an official act by an alleged “Western democracy” that criminalizes truth. For example, French medical scientists who find that the mRNA “vaccines” result in death and health injury will be imprisoned if they report their findings. The new French law takes the determination of medical fact out of the hands of medical scientists. The “fact” henceforth is whatever Big Pharma’s paid shills among politicians and medical “authorities” say it is.

Something similar has occurred in Germany. The distinguished German attorney Reiner Fuellmich was about to file a lawsuit supported by thousands of medical doctors and attorneys against the mRNA manufacturers when he was kidnapped by the German state and imprisoned in Germany where he is currently standing trial on trumped up charges brought by what appears to be paid “witnesses.”

This is not the way democracies operate. As I have written on many occasions, Western countries have ceased to be democracies. The people have no voice. The countries are governed by the agendas of the elites and powerful corporations with the money to purchase the laws that serve their agendas and interests. The people who run for office are the people approved by these elites. Trump was the exception, and look at what has happened to him. The ruling elite have made their point: “Cross us and we will destroy you.”

Western governments serve at the expense of the people the material interests of the powerful and ideologies such as the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset.” Dutch and Irish governments are dispossessing under the rubric of “global warming” farmers of their flocks of sheep and herds of cattle, thereby driving up food prices by curtailing the supplies of meat, milk, butter, and cheese, while simultaneously allowing entry to hordes of immigrant-invaders whose support the people are forced to undertake. Today a “Western democracy” is an institution that forces citizens to support interests that are not their own.

We are now witnessing, with the new French law, with the German government’s kidnapping of Reiner Fuellmich, with the American persecution of medical scientists who truthfully reported the mRNA danger, the Stalinist indictments of President Trump, and with media that no longer serve as watchdogs over the government but as propaganda ministries for government lies, the legalization and institutionalization of the tyranny that has displaced democracy in the Western world.

A large percentage of Western peoples are so indoctrinated and brainwashed that they do not see what is happening. Moreover, Western countries having been turned into towers of babel means there is no social unity, which makes it impossible to oppose the tyranny as some of the diverse elements see tyranny useful in suppressing political and ideological opponents. In the US the Democrats’ policy of wide-open borders for “people of color” but not for whites is dispossessing Americans of their own country.

Despite public opposition to the policy, it has moved into high gear with, according to official numbers, entry each year of immigrant-invaders in numbers equivalent to 12 cities the size of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There is no doubt whatsoever that the goal is to replace the white American population who are powerless to do anything about it.
Meanwhile the Western governments foment wars with Russia, China, and Iran and expect the demoralized citizens they are dispossessing to supply the army.

    – Does the Kremlin comprehend that its de-nazification agenda cannot be limited to Ukraine but must be applied to the entirety of the Western world?

    • When are you going to realize that democracy is dead and long gone, the only thing left is to arm up and prepare to defend you and yours from the upcoming events. This is the land of Wolves now, there is only Wolves and sheep, chance favors the prepared mind, are you willing to do whatever is necessary to protect you and yours from what is coming? Are you willing to commit the most unholy of holy’s when the SHTF? If you are not, that makes you the sheep. Be the Wolf and survive and thrive, or be the sheep and be slaughtered, that, is the cold, cruel, harsh reality of it all.
