Canada: Family of Four Will Spend $16,297 on Groceries Next Year: Report

The average Canadian family of four will have to dig a little deeper next year to afford groceries, as the impact of food inflation continues to cripple household finances.

According to the national Food Price Report, groceries on average will cost Canadian families $16,297 in 2024 — up from $16,288.41 this year and $15,232.81 in 2022.

Canada’s Food Price Report 2023 predicted a 5% to 7% food price increase in 2023 following 10% hikes last year. Vegetables, dairy and meat all became more expensive.

“In 2024 it is probable Canadians will continue to experience the strain of food inflation compounded by increasing costs of housing, energy and various other expenditures,” the report read.

“Sticker Shock”: Washington Governor Inslee’s $100 Million Gamble to Address Homelessness Crisis

Washington Governor Jay Inslee is doubling down on the state’s efforts to address its out-of-control homelessness epidemic. Inslee’s latest maneuver involves a staggering $100 million proposal, aimed at bolstering the Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition (RCHA) fund, a critical arm of the state’s program to clear encampments and provide housing for the unhoused along state highways.

This proposal comes on the heels of $149 million in funds focused primarily on counties west of the Cascade Mountains. Inslee’s announcement during Thursday’s press conference underscored his commitment to this initiative, originally dubbed the Rights of Way Safety Initiative and now rebranded as the Encampment Resolution Program.

Al Gore Likens Social Media Algorithms to AR-15s, Calls for a Ban

Despite several jokes about Al Gore inventing the internet, it’s clear that the former Vice President has revealed that he knows little about how the internet works — or the First Amendment, for that matter.

Gore called for the banning of social media algorithms at the Bloomberg Green Summit at COP28.

Underscoring his argument with a comparison to signature firearms, Gore stated that algorithms that condition the course of social media, similar to AR-15’s, represent a threat and “ought to be banned.”

Father of American Citizen Journalist Jailed in Ukraine Accuses Biden Administration of ‘Complicity’

The father of American citizen journalist Gonzalo Lira has accused the Biden administration of “complicity” in his son’s imprisonment in Ukraine and refuted claims made by the State Department to Breitbart News that they were “assisting” Mr Lira.

In an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson on X, Gonzalo Lira Sr laid the blame on President Biden and the U.S. State Department for his son languishing in a Ukrainian prison after criticising the Zelensky government in Kyiv, the West’s response to the Russian invasion, and President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

His son, Gonzalo Lira, 56, a dual citizen of Chile and the United States, was living in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv at the time of the invasion last year. This is Why America Forgot How to Win

by Daniel Greenfield

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stopped by the Reagan National Defense Forum to deliver an address titled, ‘A Time for American Leadership’. What leadership lessons did he have to offer?

“I learned a thing or two about urban warfare from my time fighting in Iraq and leading the campaign to defeat ISIS,” he told his audience. “Like Hamas, ISIS was deeply embedded in urban areas. And the international coalition against ISIS worked hard to protect civilians and create humanitarian corridors, even during the toughest battles. So the lesson is not that you can win in urban warfare by protecting civilians. The lesson is that you can only win in urban warfare by protecting civilians.”

He then went on to lecture that “we will continue to press Israel to protect civilians” and” that “protecting Palestinian civilians in Gaza is both a moral responsibility and a strategic imperative.”

Gen. Austin headed Central Command from 2013 to 2016. Obama officials blamed Austin for telling Obama that ISIS was “a flash in the pan” (while Austin’s people denied he said that.) Central Command’s intelligence failures against ISIS were so bad that they resulted in an investigation into whether intelligence had been falsified to make it look like we were winning…

Danielle Smith Threatens Use of Sovereignty Act Should Feds Pursue Oil and Gas Production Cap

Canada’s climate-alarmist Liberal government has moved to propose a punitive 2030 cap on oil and gas production — earning the ire of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

By 2030, the feds hope to cut oil and gas emissions by 35% to 38% from 2019 levels. Those who buy offset credits or contribute to a decarbonization fund would lower their target to between 20% and 23%.

Though the cap-and-trade proposal mandates a less daunting emissions target than initially estimated in its emissions reduction plan last year, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said the compromise came after extensive consultation with industry and other stakeholders to ensure its aims are achievable.

On Friday’s episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra was joined by Canadian academic and author Dr. Tom Flanagan to discuss the false media narrative of ‘unmarked graves’ at a former Kamloops residential school.

Tom’s new book, Grave Error: How The Media Misled Us (and the Truth about Residential Schools),

is a call to reason against the moral panic unleashed on May 27, 2021.

Tom told Ezra how mainstream media outlets didn’t want to touch the writing that is compiled in the book, which Ezra predicted will be totally ignored by those same outlets. Even to criticize the arguments contained in the book would draw too much attention.

Senate Censures Conservative Senator for Supporting the Freedom Convoy

Conservative Senator Michael MacDonald found himself in hot water for a ‘colourful rant’ on the Freedom Convoy — and now, his colleagues have censured him.

On November 30, the Red Chamber voted to sanction MacDonald at the request of Senate Ethics Officer Pierre Legault, who found him guilty of violating their code of conduct for remarks in support of the demonstration. The violation stems from a February 2022 incident where he mocked complaints from Ottawa residents, whom he described as ‘overpaid’ and ‘underworked.’

“It’s everybody’s f***ing city; this is the capital of the country. It’s not your goddamned city just because you have a six-figure salary and you work 20 hours a week,” he said in a video filmed secretly.

France: Paris Archbishop Requests Modern Stained-Glass Windows for Notre Dame

The spire of Notre Dame was recently returned to its original position, following the fire of 2019, meaning the spectre of major architectural ‘innovations’ as threatened during the restoration of the building seems to be receding. However, the Archbishop of Paris, Msgr. Laurent Ulrich, has told the French president that he would like to see contemporary stained-glass windows incorporated into the cathedral as it is rebuilt.

RTL reports that the Archbishop of Paris sent a letter to Emmanuel Macron, explaining he would like to have a series of six contemporary stained-glass windows installed in one of the nave’s side chapels.

Ireland: Tornado Causes Destruction in Leitrim Village

A tornado has caused damage to vehicles and buildings in Leitrim village in County Leitrim.

It happened early on Sunday afternoon as heavy rain was passing over the area.

Footage and photographs posted online show the aftermath of what has been described as a quick and nasty event.

It came as severe wind warnings were issued for the west coast of Ireland, including, briefly, a red warning, the highest weather alert.

“It only lasted a very short amount of time but caused a lot of damage,” said Paddy Farrell, a Leitrim county councillor.

Mr Farrell was driving through the village when the tornado struck.

“I missed it by a few seconds. I was very lucky,” he said.

“I kept driving to get away from it — otherwise my car would have been badly damaged.”

“I don’t think anyone was badly hurt, thankfully, but the roof of a building has been taken off and a lot of cars have been damaged.

“There’s a lot of debris out in the street and the emergency services are at the scene”.

A matter of seconds

One witness to the incident, photographer Willie Donnellan, told Irish broadcaster RTÉ that he heard lightning and a very loud bang on Sunday afternoon.

He then ran out of his house and saw the tornado coming up the canal and flattening a row of trees before taking the roof off a building.

Mr Donnellan said the weather incident lasted for around 30 seconds.

UK: Anti-Israel ‘Hate Marches’ in London Prove the ‘Failure of Multiculturalism’, Says Former Home Secretary

Former British Home Secretary Suella Braverman has argued that the anti-Israel “hate marches” in London have demonstrated the need to reduce mass migration and that multiculturalism has been a “failure”.

While the Metropolitan Police are once again searching for pro-Palestinian protesters over antisemitic messages over the weekend in London, including one who carried a placard appearing to call for a “final solution” against Israel, Suella Braverman pronounced that the hatred witnessed on the streets of the British capital since the October 7th Hamas terror attacks on Israel should be seen as confirmation of her assertion that multiculturalism is a failed project.

UK: Squatter Who Won Battle Over Dead Woman’s Home Sells it for Huge Profit

A man in the U.K., who took over a retiree’s empty home in London and gained legal ownership of it under a “quirky” ancient Roman law, has sold the property for a profit, local media reports.

A British construction worker identified as Keith Best spotted an empty three-bedroom, semi-detached home in London’s Newbury Park back in 1997 while working a construction job nearby, according to Express. Best began renovating the property and ultimately moved his family into the home in 2012.

The house, however, belonged to retiree Colin Curtis, who lived on the property with his mother until the late 1990s, when he moved out. Curtis inherited the property, but under what has been described as a “quirky” ancient Roman law that allows “someone in possession of a good without title to become the lawful proprietor if the original owner didn’t show up after some time,” Best became the home’s legal owner, the Guardian previously reported.

Hamas Threatens No Hostage Will Leave ‘Alive’ if ‘Demands of the Resistance’ Are Not Met: Reports

The Iran-backed terrorist organization Hamas warned on Sunday that no hostage will leave the Gaza Strip alive unless demands like additional aid for Gaza are met, according to reports.

“Neither the fascist enemy and its arrogant leadership … nor its supporters … can take their prisoners alive without an exchange and negotiation and meeting the demands of the resistance,” Abu Obeida, a spokesperson for Hamas’s armed wing, said in a televised broadcast reported on by the Israeli Times.

Israel and Hamas reached a temporary cease-fire agreement deal that took effect on Nov. 24, during which 110 hostages were freed by the terrorist group in exchange for some 240 Palestinian prisoners. The truce ended and fighting resumed on Nov. 30 after both sides accused the other of violating its terms.

Heavy Fighting Across Gaza as Israel Presses Ahead With Renewed US Military and Diplomatic Support

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Heavy fighting raged Sunday across Gaza, including in the devastated north, as Israel pressed ahead with its offensive after the U.S. blocked the latest international push for a cease-fire and rushed more munitions to its close ally.

Israel has faced rising international outrage and calls for a permanent cease-fire after the killing of thousands of Palestinian civilians. About 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have been displaced within the besieged territory, where U.N. agencies say there is no safe place to flee.

The United States has lent vital support to the offensive by vetoing United Nations Security Council efforts to end the fighting and by pushing through an emergency sale of over $100 million worth of tank ammunition to Israel.

Photos: Libertarian Javier Milei Inaugurated President of Argentina

Libertarian economist Javier Milei was inaugurated president of Argentina on Sunday, flanked by a host of heads of state — including Spanish King Felipe VI and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — and surrounded by thousands of supporters in Buenos Aires.

Milei’s inauguration concludes a dramatic, and rapid, ascent to political power for the economist and television commentator, who formed his political party, Liberty Advances, in 2021. Liberty Advances won its first seats in the Argentine Congress that year on an anti-socialist, small-government platform. Milei’s first and only public office before becoming president was to serve in the Argentine Congress for two years. He is the nation’s first libertarian president and vanquished both the deeply entrenched leftist Peronist elite previously in power and the establishment “center-right” coalition that controlled the opposition for nearly two decades.

In a letter on Friday, which Hobbs released publicly, the governor requested more than $512 million in federal funds to reimburse state spending on migrant transport, drug interdiction, and law enforcement ‘due to the federal government’s failure to secure our border.’

It comes after Customs and Border Protection encounters with migrants at the southern border reportedly hit a one-day high of 12,000 on Tuesday, including more than 10,200 who were detained illegally entering the US from Mexico between ports of entry.

“Preparations are being made for a world war”

    12/12-23

The Islamic world is already taking over the West

By: Christian Skaug / Hans Rustad,
    from snaphanen.dk

The Islamic world is about to take over Europe, but the preparations for the war are taking place gradually and with such small steps that the West with its incompetent governments does not see it, says the famous Algerian writer Boualem Sansal in an interview with Berlingske.

The Europeans are spectators to the Gaza war, but do not understand that the many assassinations after 7 October indicate that a similar war is brewing in our country, Sansal explains to Solveig Gram Jensen in the culture editorial of Denmark’s oldest newspaper – apparently the first . North European mainstream media that gives him a lot of space to talk about this topic.

The award-winning author is old enough to remember when Algeria was a French colony and there was religious diversity. Now that time is over. The French went their way, and today only Islam applies.

Boualem Sansal is convinced that the West risks facing the same development.

In reality, he says, the Islamic world is already taking over the West.

A world war is being prepared, a war on a very large scale. The West does not understand what is happening.

“It is a joint movement which is extremely well organised. The underlying idea is to wage very intense and violent wars in order to reverse the power relations, so that there is a basis for standing stronger in a negotiation. The war is going to last some time until Israel is seriously weakened. Then the Israelis will revolt against their government. And in Europe, the populations will revolt against their own governments and perhaps start attacking the Muslims.’

Sansal considers that this is a war on a very large scale:

“Preparations are being made for a world war. It happens one small step at a time, so that the West does not see the strategy.’

We know what Sansal is talking about, we just don’t want to be disturbed. Even if it is about our lives and our future. But perhaps he is a little too pessimistic about, for example, Israel’s future. Israel knows the rules of the game in the Middle East. The Europeans don’t.

    Antithetical societies
We call it parallel society, in France it is called communitarianism. It means segregation, separation. A separate country on Danish soil.

“It is a political, social and religious process that has now been going on for around 30 years. And you can clearly see that there is a sharp separation between the different societies in the western countries. Communitarianism leads to separatism. In France, there are regions which are 100 percent independent,’ it says, referring not least to Paris’s notorious suburbs.

Another nation is growing up within the Danish one and it is hostile.

Here the left plays a destructive role as the useful idiots of Islam. They provide the moral legitimacy for Islam.

“The new migrants do not speak a single word of French when they arrive. And then they choose not to learn it because it is the language of a former colonial power. You don’t want to dress or live like the French either,’ explains Boualem Sansal.

In this way, he says, a kind of civilization arises that corresponds neither to the migrants’ homeland nor to the country to which they have emigrated.

And that is only part of the Muslims’ strategy, Sansal assesses.

The Muslims also know how to use democracy to their advantage. They know how to play on naivety and gullibility. But is there that much left of it? Isn’t there something convulsive about it after all that has happened?

“For a long time you couldn’t see it. But in addition to the Islamists of course using the usual instruments of war – weapons, the political and military war, sexual violence and so on – they have also found a new, formidable weapon in the form of democracy.’

In reality, Sansal estimates, the Islamists are using the West’s own weapons against us.

“In their own countries, they are hunted down, imprisoned and executed if they do not do as the law says. In Europe, they are invited onto television. Here you listen to them. And then they say: He is an Islamist, but he is allowed to be, just as we are communists, socialists or something else. The Muslims use the naivety, the social structures and the judiciary,’ asserts Sansal.

But there is an awakening in the West. Perhaps Sansal does not realize it, but the Israelis understand what they are facing. They want to eradicate Islamism.

“Anti-Semitism in Islam has existed since Islam was born.”

At that time, he explains, the prophet Muhammad killed several thousand Jews who had otherwise allowed him to settle in their city, Medina, as it is called today.

“Since then, Muslims have believed that the Jews are traitors. They try to justify the actions of the prophet.’ 7 October has made the Israelis understand that they are facing an enemy that wants to wipe them out. They don’t intend to let it happen again.

Islamism is too brutal. The Jews are the first people to take up the fight. Others will follow their example.
