“It’s Going to be a Tough Year,” Trudeau Warns of Gloomy Economic Forecast for 2023

As the Liberal government moves to increase a number of taxes in the coming year and fears of a recession continue to grow, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is warning Canadians that 2023 will be “tough.”

The cost of living grew significantly throughout the last year — impacting essential items such as food, fuel and medicine.

In a year-end interview with Global News, Trudeau was asked about the gloomy economic forecast for 2023. The PM answered, “Next year is going to be tough, too. It’s going to be a tough year.”

UK: ‘Stealth Taxes’ on Middle Classes Will See Families £40,000 Worse Off Over Next Decade: Report

The British middle class will be rinsed by the government for tax money over the next decade in a ‘stealth’ grab that will leave some families a considerable £40,000-plus (~$48,000) worse off.

The British government is using now-soaring inflation to drag middle-class workers into higher tax bands that were once meant to punish the rich for being high earners, considerably increasing the tax take without having to take the publicity hit of imposing new taxes on the middle class.

Bankman-Fried Criminal Case Assigned to Judge in Bin Laden, Epstein-Linked Cases

With Sam Bankman-Fried — a democrat donor so generous a March 2021 interview in the leftist outlet VOX said that SBF was “among the people most responsible” for Joe Biden being in office — spending hundreds of millions to buy favors, influence and fawning media support, it was hardly a surprise when we learned last week that Judge Ronnie Abrams (appointed by Barack Obama in 2012) recused herself from prosecuting SBF in his upcoming criminal case due to work her husband Greg Andres’ law firm Davis Polk did for FTX (before joining Davis Polk, Andres served as an Assistant Special Counsel for Russian interference in 2016 United States elections under Robert Mueller).

So fast forward to today when Sam Bankman-Fried’s criminal case was reassigned to Bill Clinton-appointed District Judge Lewis Kaplan, recently known for handling a Epstein-linked sexual abuse lawsuit against Britain’s Prince Andrew, and defamation lawsuits against Donald Trump, and is also known for presiding over a number of federal racketeering cases involving Mafia members. In April 2010, Kaplan was assigned to preside over the cases of 14 Gambino crime family members arrested on charges, among others, of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, witness tampering (in the 1992 trial of John Gotti), and sex trafficking of a minor.

Bannock County Woman Accused of Stabbing Couple on Christmas Morning While They Slept

POCATELLO — A woman police say stabbed two people numerous times in their home early Christmas morning has been charged with two felonies.

Kylee Marie Adams, 24, faces two felony counts of aggravated assault causing bodily harm, court records show. Police say she stabbed a man five times and a woman three times.

Pocatello police received a call reporting a double-stabbing at a home on North Hayes Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, according to an affidavit of probable cause. While en route to the home, officers received permission from one of the victims to force entry into the home.

When they arrived at the reported address, officers forced their way into a home and asked a resident where they could find the stabbing suspect. But the resident told officers they had the wrong home and directed them to the other side of the duplex.

Officers once again entered the home only to discover that they were again at the wrong residence. They learned at the second home that there was a backhouse behind the main duplex and responded there.

Officers kicked their way into the third home and found a woman standing in the living room holding a blood-soaked towel to wounds on her head and neck.

She directed officers to a bedroom, where the male victim had disarmed and restrained a woman, later identified as Adams, by lying on her.

Officers noted in police reports that the man “had blood all over the upper portion of his body.” Blood was also on the bed, floor and several items inside the room.

The officers restrained the woman, allowing the man to get up and join the woman outside, where a Pocatello Fire EMS crew was waiting to provide medical attention.

Unable to find the knife used in the attack, officers asked the victims if they knew where it was. The woman told them that after the man wrestled it away from Adams, she hid it in the bathroom.

Officers found the knife used in the attack — noting that the blade was 3 inches long.

The female victim told officers that she and Adams has been involved in a verbal argument earlier in the evening. She said she and the male victim went to bed around 11:30 p.m. and were awakened by the attack.

The victim said she was asleep when she was stabbed in the neck. She woke to find Adams stabbing the male victim “a bunch of times.”

The male victim told officers that he was asleep when he felt a “sudden jolt of pain going through his body,” the affidavit says.

While he was holding Adams down, he added, she clawed at his back in an attempt to get loose. Officers noted that in addition to the five knife wounds — stabs to his right elbow, abdomen and two to his chest, along with a slice to his face — the man had a “large amout of scratch marks on his back.”

The female victim suffered two stab wounds to the right side of her head and one to her upper right arm.

None of the wounds were listed in police reports as being potentially life-threatening.

Adams was taken to Portneuf Medical Center, where she was treated for a cut to her finger.

In speaking officers, Adams allegedly admitted to stabbing both victims but said she did not intend to kill either. She said she was unsure where she stabbed them because of how dark it was inside the house.

She was taken to Bannock County Jail, where she was booked on two counts of aggravated battery and is being held on a $50,000 bond. No-contact orders have been issued barring Adams from contact with either victim.

Biden Opens Door to China Sabotage in North Dakota

The Biden administration just cleared a Chinese company to own 370 acres of land within 12 miles of Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

As a result, China will be able to use a proposed $700 million corn milling plant on the site to spy on military communications and even disrupt them. In Beijing, they must be shaking their heads in disbelief at the inability of the U.S. to protect some of its most sensitive communications.

California Democrat Ted Lieu Deletes Tweet After Elon Musk Fact-Checks Him

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) deleted a tweet responding to the “Twitter Files” after CEO Elon Musk said he was pointing users to “misleading data” about COVID.

Lieu deleted his tweet Monday in response to reporter David Zweig’s Twitter Files revelations showing how the social media platform censored factually accurate COVID information that conflicted with the federal government.

“The tweet you cite is in fact misleading. People of all ages at high risk from covid generally benefit from vaccines. Prior natural immunity may last only a few months. COVID appears to be a leading cause of death for children,” Lieu tweeted with a link to a preprint study that was re-written after critics pointed out its inaccuracies.

“Ted is linking to misleading data,” Musk tweeted, calling for the platform’s Community Notes to add missing information to the congressman’s tweet.

Defeated George Santos Opponent Demands Rematch, House Democrats Pounce After NY Republican Admits to Lies

House Democrats are demanding the immediate resignation or expulsion from Congress of Rep.-elect George Santos, R-N.Y., who admitted to lying to voters about his work experience and education on the campaign trail.

Robert Zimmerman, the Democrat who Santos defeated in the November general election, said the Republican should resign and face him again in a special election.

“George, if that’s even your real name, if you’re so convinced that #NY3 voters still trust you — resign & run against me again in a special election,” Zimmerman tweeted Tuesday. “Face the voters with your real past & answer questions about your criminal history. Let the voters decide.”

Santos, a political newcomer, flipped New York’s 3rd Congressional District for Republicans in November after campaigning with an inspirational background story — falsely claiming he graduated from college with degrees in finance and worked for Goldman Sachs and Citibank.

After an investigation by the New York Times revealed major portions of his biography were fabricated, his purported employers confirmed to Fox News that Santos never worked for them, and Baruch College said he never attended there.

“Dissident yet legitimate content was labeled as misinformation, and the accounts of doctors and others were suspended both for tweeting opinions and demonstrably true information,” Zweig added.

Documents: Medical Lake Murder Victim Stabbed Multiple Times, Shot at Least Once

MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — Documents released by law enforcement say the person that was killed in Medical Lake was stabbed multiple times and had one gunshot wound.

Documents say police responded to an active shooting call in Medical Lake on Friday. When deputies arrived to the apartment complex at 227 S. Washington St., they identified two apartment complexes related to the murder — apartment #1 and apartment #3.

Law enforcement says the victim, Colin Bastow, was shot at apartment #1 and died at apartment #3. Police contatced two people — 16-year-old Layla M. Knemeyer and 24-year-old Cynthia B. Metsker — at the apartment complex. Knemeyer told police that Metsker shot Bastow and that Bastow tried to rape Metsker.

According to the documents, Metsker “made spontaneous utterances similar to ‘“He was trying to rape me!’“

Law enforcement say that Bastow was stabbed multiple times to one of his arms and at least one gunshot wound to the same side of his body where he was stabbed.

Knemeyer told a detective that she saw Metsker and Bastow arguing the night before, saying she saw Bastow “smack” Metsker 1-2 times in the face. She also told the dective she saw Bastow on top of Metsker when she woke up the nect morning.

Knemeyer added that she assumed Metsker got a gun and heard a gunshot, seeing Bastow running out the door. She said she heard Metsker says she didn’t try to shoot Bastow, and when they left apartment #1, they found Bastow at apartment #3, where Metsker told someone to call 911.

Eaton Man Found Guilty of Felony Menacing for Driving Vehicle Through a Crowd in 2020

GREELEY — The 23-year-old Eaton man who was accused of intentionally attempting to run over more than half-dozen people with his vehicle in July of 2020 was found guilty on Friday of lesser charges, but still faces possible prison time.

The verdict against Isaiah Cordova was delayed a week after Cordova passed out during closing arguments in his trial. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Weld District Court Chief Justice Julie Hoskins found Cordova guilty on five counts of felony menacing. Cordova was found not guilty of the one remaining felony menacing, as well as six counts of attempted first-degree murder. Hoskins said the prosecution failed to meet the obligation of beyond a reasonable doubt on those charges.

Each charge carries a possible sentence of 1-3 years of either probation, community corrections or prison. The judge could order the sentences to be carried out concurrently or consecutively.

The wide sentencing variations mean Cordova faces at minimum one year of probation to 15 years in the Department of Corrections, a realization that left most of the victims visibly frustrated after the hearing.

One of his victims, Micki Holladay was unsure of how she felt after the ruling.

“I’m glad that some of the charges were found guilty,” Holladay told Complete Colorado. “I’m skeptical, I guess, about the system, though. He’s young, I know. Did he mean to do it? Would he have actually killed somebody? Standing there watching him (come toward) me, I was for sure that if I didn’t move he wasn’t going to stop.”

Holladay said she believes actions should have consequences, adding he can’t be left to think what he did was OK, or for others to see that people committing actions of this magnitude are not held responsible.

“I do believe he ought to spend some time in jail,” Holladay said. “I do not want him to think he is getting away with this. He made a bad choice. He made a horrible choice that day. He was mad, whatever, and in the end, I’m sure he was scared because he knew he’d done something stupid, but it’s not going to teach him anything if he just gets community correction or probation.”

The crimes took place at a “Back the Blue” rally along Collins St. just west of U.S. 85 in the northern Weld County community of Eaton.

New Alabama Conceal Carry Law Goes Into Effect in 2023

Background checks to acquire conceal carry permits in Alabama will be a thing of the past next year.

Earlier this year, the Alabama Legislature ratified House Bill 272, which makes the state the 22nd in the country to permit individuals to carry concealed pistols without acquiring a permit or undergoing a background check.

The new law goes into effect Jan. 1, according to the law. It passed the House of Representatives with a 70-29 vote and 24-6 in the Senate.

Republican Gov. Kay Ivey was quick to sign the legislation into law shortly after it was approved by lawmakers.

Under the law, the requirement for a person to obtain a concealed carry permit to carry a loaded pistol under their clothes, in a vehicle or in a purse or other carrying bag is dropped.

Poll: 63 Percent of Americans Want FBI ‘Censorship’ of Twitter Investigated

A poll released on Dec. 26 found that a majority of Americans want Congress to investigate whether the FBI was involved in censoring posts on Twitter and other social media sites following new revelations from Elon Musk’s release of the “Twitter Files.”

Rasmussen Reports issued a poll that found 63 percent of likely voters think Congress should probe “whether the FBI was involved in censoring information on social media sites” and only 22 percent oppose such an investigation. Another 15 percent said they weren’t decided, the poll found.

The same portion of voters, 63 percent, also “believe it is likely that the FBI encouraged social media sites like Facebook and Twitter” to “suppress, silence, or reduce the reach of certain political speech and speakers,” Rasmussen said. About 27 percent said it isn’t likely that the FBI didn’t try to silence or suppress political speech on social media, and 11 percent said they’re not sure.

Senate Fails to Confirm Biden Nominee Who Once Released Man Later Involved in Murder of 10-Year-Old

President Biden’s nominee for District of Columbia District Court, who once released a man later involved in the murder of a 10-year-old, failed to get enough votes to clear the Judiciary Committee. So, his nomination will expire with the end of the 117th Congress.

President Biden nominated Judge Todd Edelman in September to serve on the U.S. District Court of Washington, D.C. Edelman currently sits on the district’s Superior Court, where he presided over a case involving Christian Wingfield.

Southwest Airlines Has ‘Another Tough Day’ As CEO Warns Flight Cancellations Will Continue

Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan on Tuesday warned that large-scale cancellations of its flights were likely to continue after the airline on Monday cancelled a majority of its flights and more major cancellations the following day.

Southwest on Monday cancelled 2,909 flights, or 71% of its planned trips. It further cancelled 2,626 flights, or 64% of its flights on Tuesday, according to FlightAware. The cancellations come amid a large winter storm that has wreaked havoc on western New York, in particular. While nearly all airlines were forced to cancel some flights, Southwest was far and away the outlier in terms of the percent of cancellations.

As of press time, there have been 3,088 cancelled flights within the U.S. or with a start or end point within the country, meaning Southwest has been responsible for more than 73% of Tuesday’s cancelled flights.

Statue of Henrietta Lacks, Whose ‘Immortal’ Cells Were Stolen, To Replace Robert E. Lee’s

A statue of Henrietta Lacks will stand where a monument to Robert E. Lee once stood in Roanoke, Va., city leaders announced Monday.

Roanoke officials said in July 2020 that they were planning to replace the Lee monument when a man took matters into his own hands and knocked it over. The tribute to the Confederate general was never reinstalled.

Instead, local leaders renamed the plaza, which had been known as Lee Plaza, in honor of Lacks. The statue of Lacks is supposed to be finished by October 2023, local CBS affiliate WDBJ reported.

The German Catholic Church is Against Christ, Says Hungarian Archbishop

There is a conspiracy to remove Christianity from Europe and the German Catholic Church is complicit in this goal, said retired Hungarian Archbishop Gulya Marfi during an interview with news portal Magyar Jelen published on Christmas day.

According to the (German Church), it is not important whether Jesus is really born or not, the important thing is that ‘he is born in you’.” He called it “anti-Christian” that a significant number of German Catholic priests now bless same-sex marriage and warned that the Church has become nearly anti-Christ.

“It is very sad what is happening in Germany. I don’t want to offend them, but somehow they always fall from one side of the horse to the other. They went from Hitler and National Socialism to cosmopolitan globalism. No more Germans, French, Hungarians, or Italians — only Europeans.”

Putin is Upping Pressure on Belarus to Enter War Against Ukraine, Says Senior Polish MEP

World Economic Forum Cancels Twitter, Directs Followers to Chinese Social Media Apps

Prior to its upcoming conference in Davos next month, the World Economic Forum (WEF) appears to have joined the cancel campaign against Twitter, taking to recommending Chinese state-controlled social media apps to “follow along” with Davos Man into the future.

Supreme Court Hands Border States Big Win, Orders Title 42 to Remain in Place During Legal Challenge
