Kentucky Teachers Want a Taxpayer Bailout

Authored by Troy Vincent via The Mises Institute

The Kentucky state workers’ pension system is by some measures the worst funded pension in the entire country with an estimated $70 billion dollars of unfunded liabilities. A recent audit of the pension system found that the plan has had $6.9 billion in negative cash flows since 2005.

At $40 billion, Kentucky teachers make up the largest portion of this unfunded liability. But even in the face of impending insolvency, many teachers in Kentucky are still protesting the slightest changes and cuts to their compensation that have been proposed in an effort to prevent catastrophe.

1 Adult, 2 Students Killed in Asheville Shooting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Four people, including a middle and high school student, are dead following a shooting in Asheville Wednesday night, according to WLOS.

The shooting happened just around 10:30 p.m. on Hansel Avenue.

Police say Maurice Laron Garner shot seven people, killing three. Garner died after being taken to a local hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Ashley-Michelle Thublin with Asheville City Schools confirmed that two students from Isaac Dickson Elementary School, one student from Asheville Middle School, one student from Asheville High School, and a former Asheville Middle School student were all involved in the shooting.

“Three of the students are still in the hospital. However, an Asheville Middle School student and an Asheville High School student have passed away,” she said.

The other victim, 32-year-old Erica Nichelle Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene. The severity of the injuries to the other victims ranges from life-threatening to minor.

Police are unsure of what led to the shooting.

Bias Permeates Southern Poverty Law Center

Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is regarded by many journalists as the gold standard for information on hate groups. But its record is dotted with inconsistencies — it has itself engaged in hateful discourse against some traditionally minded organizations: branding the Family Research Council a hate group is one glaring example. Not as well known are its more subtle ways of emitting bias.

SPLC issued a statement on April 3 about a federal court judge’s decision against Matt Hale, an imprisoned neo-Nazi who sued the Federal Bureau of Prisons for violating his religious rights; prison facilities monitored his mail, disallowing incendiary material. U.S. District Judge Marcia Krieger of Colorado ruled that Hale’s religion, the Creativity Movement, failed to meet four of the five legal determinants of what constitutes a religion. Ergo, his religious rights were not violated.

Judge Krieger’s decision was a model of excellence: Hale’s “religion,” she said, was essentially a secular philosophy, and a hateful one at that.

The issue for the Catholic League is why SPLC, which accurately cited Hale’s hatred of Jews and African Americans, didn’t mention his anti-Christian, especially anti-Catholic, animus. A thorough check of its many reports on Hale, and his predecessor, Ben Klassen, found scant mention of either man’s hatred of Christianity, in general, and almost no mention of his hostility to Catholicism.

Effingham County, Illinois, Declares Itself a Sanctuary — for Gun Owners!

Joe Thoele, an Effingham County, Illinois board member, was tired of his state’s continued assault on the Second Amendment and decided to do something about it. On Monday he persuaded seven of the other eight board members to declare his county a “sanctuary” county, ordering county employees not to enforce any new infringements coming from Springfield, the state’s capitol. Said Thoele, “I would just like to send a statement to Springfield that I don’t want them to be infringing on our Second Amendment rights as legal gun owners.” After all, echoed Effingham state’s attorney Bryan Kibler, “If you can be a sanctuary county for undocumented immigrants, why can’t you be one for firearms?”

Home Invasion Victims Use AR—15 to Defend Themselves Against Five Armed Intruders

Three men were asleep inside their Glen St. Mary, Fla., mobile home when five young intruders claiming to be police broke down the front door at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, News 4 Jax reports.

The first intruder wore a mask and shouted, “Sheriff’s office!” from outside the trailer before breaking the front door down and shooting a single round.

Upon hearing the break-in, two of the three men staying in the mobile home — one armed with an AR—15 and another with a handgun — confronted the criminals with open fire in self-defense.

Soros in Retreat: Billionaire’s University to From Budapest to Vienna

After a sustained campaign against the influence of left-wing billionaire George Soros by the Hungarian government, Soros’s Central European University has announced its plans to move from Budapest to Vienna.

The Central European University (CEU) has come under fire from the Hungarian government which had previously claimed it was unfair that the institution was allowed to give out both Hungarian and U.S. diplomas while not operating a campus in the USA.

Now, the university has announced that it has plans to leave Budapest and move to neighbouring Austria where a new campus will be set up, Swedish radio broadcaster Sveriges Radio reports.

Éva Fodor, Deputy Rector at CEU said that the university had already signed an agreement with a landlord in Vienna but some were still hopeful the university would not have to move as the administration had set up a branch in New York state, as requested by the Hungarian government.

Hungary has yet to approve the move by the CEU according to Fodor who said: “If the government still has not signed this agreement in mid-June, then we will start planning to move the entire university to Vienna.”

“It’s hard to recruit new staff when we can not even tell where their workplace will be,” Fodor added…

UK: “Teacher Handbook” Supporting Extremism?

Britain’s educational authorities also failed to note the underlying message of the Teacher Handbook: that jihadist violence is justified when committed by those who believe themselves to be victims. This is a crucial point: it accepts at face value what might only be many Muslims’ perception of “victimhood.”

Despite the Teacher Handbook‘s questionable attempts to align Islam with secular, Western principles such as human rights, fundamental British values are undermined by the very content of the Teacher Handbook.

No amount of Western appeasement can counter jihad, which is, as openly admitted, a global expansionist project.

Many religious texts have violent verses, but in Islam people still live by them.

A New Terrorist Group is Popping up in Syria and Capitalizing on ISIS’ Defeat

With up to 90% of its territory lost, ISIS appears effectively defeated as a conventional foe. But while the black flag of ISIS is being lowered, another may soon take its place — the white flag of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

A new report in the Wall Street Journal details HTS’ rise as it consolidates power in northwest Syria. Led by a former Al-Qaeda militant, HTS is mostly based in Syria’s Idlib Governorate and has taken advantage of the US-led coalition’s focus on ISIS in the East, as well as the Syrian government and Russia’s focus on other parts of the country.

And now for yet more confirmation that the jihadist insurgents operating in Syria which the media has for the past six years labeled “moderate” are the same al-Qaeda terrorists that perpetrated the 9/11 attacks, and in some instances this is literally the case.

Let Turkish Scholars Speak: See What Islamism is About

In a 2016 fatwa, the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), Turkey’s highest religious authority, ruled that it was not forbidden in Islam if a father felt lust for his own daughter “on condition that the daughter is older than nine.”

According to celebrity Islamist scholar Nureddin Yildiz, Allah allows men to beat their wives not to torture them or hurt them but only to relax.

Yildiz’s sermon on “what would the ummah lose if women work” is a must-read piece to understand the typical Islamist thinking on gender equality, family and tribal ambitions to grow still more numerous.

Mamas, Don’t Let Your Kids Grow Up to be Marxist Morons!

High school textbooks that depict President Donald Trump as “mentally ill” and his supporters as “a bunch of ignorant, poor, white hillbillies” and that teach 6-year-olds anal sex are the perfect hide-y-hole for the uninterrupted indoctrination of school children by the public education system.

School boards, teacher activists and the mainstream media are, in fact, hiding behind trash textbooks and sex education.

Drag them out of their closet of Filth.

Their dirty little secret is that they are not teaching Jack, Jill, ze and zir how to read and write, but only how to emote. Educators of the day are graduating empty vessels, children who don’t know anything about history, or even who they are.

For almost 242 years, trusting parents sent their children off to school as their beloved daughters and sons, hoping they would be being prepared to take their place in society and someday in the now fast-fading workforce.

Nowadays their children are returning home to ask whether or not they should be transgendered.

The Censorship of Christian Values is Happening All Across America

Here is a firsthand account of what the Islamists and the Marxists did to Mr. House and his organization. In a nutshell, Christ-hating groups organized to shut down Mr. Houses’ events at hotels that he had legally contracted with to hold his seminars. The hotels cancelled his events and left his ministry holding the bag for nearly $20,000 in expenses he had hoped to recoup from offerings taken at the seminars.

This censorship of Christian values is happening all across America. One need look no farther than what Facebook, Youtube, and Google has been caught doing with “conservative” groups on their social media platforms.

  1. Before we getting overly happy about Soros agitator and activist training school is moving out of Hungary, I think this is just before they start a military aggression against my country… Maybe I am a pessimist, or as it call it in my homeland: a realist.

    • CrossWare-

      Don’t worry, it’s not 1940.

Today’s German Army is a joke, they barely have any tanks that run or rifles that don’t jam.

      • I don’t think you have enough Muslims or antifa to start committing atrocities that would require a response that NATO could pretend is genocide. Maybe the Muslims and leftists could pretend the tear gas was sarin or even deploy some from Turkey.

  2. “The 27-year-old former Queensland Young Australian of the Year claimed she was last week denied entry into the U.S. at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport because of her skin colour.”

Not so. The fact is the visa requirements for visitors to the US, even in transit is much tougher today than a year or so ago. I read this week of a New Zealand journalist who was on his way to London and transiting an hour or so in the US between flights was denied a visa, or the visa wasn’t able to be processed in time. The bottom line is you have to have your paperwork sorted before arriving at a US airport. But if you are walking over the Southern border, from Mexico,..no problem.

  3. Re Yassmin, I know a straight white man who was deported on entry into the UK. Despite only requiring proof of ability to fend for himself on holiday(part of commonwealth or something) .he ended up getting a visa and returning….he should have just gone elsewhere in Europe. He did not intend to work there.

  4. “George Soros’ Open Society Foundations announced that it will close its Budapest office and relocate to Berlin. Also, Central European University, which is sponsored by George Soros, will close its Budapest campus and move to Vienna.”

Sounds like great news to me. They’re giving up and moving West to continue screwing up countries from there instead. View it as a retreat. If they were moving East, it would be a victory. If the Austrians kick them out next, maybe they’ll move to France. Then if the French wake up… 🙂

  8. It`s worth mentioning that Soros and his “University” may be welcome in Vienna, a city with a Socialist-Green municipal government coalition, but not so much in Austria.
Though Soros also has some Underlings and Sympathizers in Austrias conservative party (ÖVP).

It`s a bit of a public scandal in Vienna because this “University” will be located in one of the most valuable and representative city owned properties.
    The former Otto-Wagner-Hospital.

Btw. this Central European University of Soros (founded 1991) is an accredited US-University and one of its two Institutes is located in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
The other (for the time being) in Budapest.

But the “University” never was accredited in Hungary and because of similar legal reasons won`t be accredited in Austria.
It was and will be exclusively a private institution, the “academic degrees” (two Bachelor courses) are not recognized in Hungary or Austria.
and likely nowhere else in Europe, only in the US.
