Have Yourself a Danish Chocolate Mocha Christmas

Koppers Danish Chocolate Mocha Coffee BeansI’ve been a good boy this year, and Tomten brought some Koppers Danish Chocolate Mocha Coffee Beans to Schloss Bodissey this morning. He concocted the best possible Christmas present for me, one that involves chocolate and coffee and is Danish.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Oh, and also: Glædelig Jul!

  1. Glædelig jul to you all.

(“Jul” – pre-christian word for christmas, maybe from hjul (wheel))

We are all looking very much foreward to 2009 here in DK.

  2. Nej, Damon — this has been a true Nordic multicultural Yule — Sinterklaas from the Netherlands, Tomten from Sweden, chocolate mocha coffee beans from Denmark, and a castle in Saxony. All we need is something from Norway, and the holiday is complete.

  3. The Baron said, “All we need is something from Norway, and the holiday is complete.”

You can easily make your own Rommegrøt using this recipe

Alas, you will have to find someone else to make lefse if you don’t know how.

  4. OK, point taken.

    God Nytårs aften, Baron!

On a completely non-“anti-Jihad” forum I frequent, I posted the family Christmas-eve (i.e. northern European style) menu.

    If you will indulge me…

My parents have air-conditioning, so we ignore the outside temperature, and go the “whole hog”…
There were 10 of us in total, 6 adults, 2 “young adults” and 2 kids.

Christmas dinner indeed proved to be extremely multi-cultural:

    Piper-Heidsieck champagne
Pickled herrings (2 kinds) on pumpernickel with akvavit

Prawn and Crab cocktails, or oysters (for those that like them)

    Open presents 🙂 🙂 🙂

Brazilian recipe turkey, with garlic and onion stuffing
    Baked and glazed ham
Gravy, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, capsicum and chilli sauce
    Token vegetables
    Sparkling red wine

    Plum pudding
    Christmas fruit cake
    Custard
    Cream
    Ice cream
    Fruit salad
    Riesling-style wines

I can no longer fit into my trousers…
