UPDATE: The person arrested is in his forties. Obviously we are not dealing with any “youths” this time…
The Local reports:
a man has been arrested in Gothenburg on suspicion of murdering university lecturer Fuat Deniz, who was stabbed on campus at Örebro University in central Sweden last month.
Police in Örebro have been working intensively since the murder to track down the killer. Local police were joined in early January by seven officers from the National Murder Commission (Riksmordkommissionen).
Shortly after the attack a man wearing blood-spattered clothes was seen in a grocery store near the university. The Swedish Forensic Science Laboratory on Tuesday returned enhanced footage from a security camera, believed to show the killer. But police said on Wednesday that the wrong sequence had been enhanced. Another sequence has now been sent for enhancement.
Fuat Deniz moved to Sweden from Turkey with his parents in the 1970s. He was well known among Syrians and Assyrians, and had carried out research on political activists. Colleagues have said they suspect a political motive for the killing. Police say they cannot rule out a political motive and have brought in experts from the Swedish Security Police, Säpo.
As they say in the U.S., the police have “a person of interest.” Three guesses as to his religion. Three more as to his lack of remorse. And another three on how many virgins he rates after he is
sentenced to death umm, incarcerated for a really, really long time. Maybe 5 years?
This is where I part company with those who don’t believe in the death penalty. One crime that should carry such a price is murder carried out in the name of one’s god — whomever that god should turn out to be. That is a killing with deep societal damage attached to it. Such individuals should be culled from the gene pool.
imho, of course.
