Those Cynical Motoon Imams

Jihad for fun and ProphetThose who followed the Mohammed Cartoon Caper will remember Danish imam Raed Hlayhel. After the Motoons were published last year in Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten, a carefully staged uproar started in the Danish Muslim community.

Now flash back to Editors Weblog, October 14, 2005:

Yesterday, a group of 16 Muslim organizations demanded the paper to apologize for printing the cartoons, reports Aljazeera. The group said, “The newspaper has with its action deliberately stepped on Islam’s ethical and moral values with the purpose of contempt and ridiculing Muslims’ feelings, their holy sites and their religious symbols”. The Islam bans any depiction of the prophet. Jyllands-Posten, which received several threats after publishing the cartoons, said it would not apologize for the cartoons and cited the freedom of speech, writes The Guardian.

Already last week, Imam Raed Hlayhel criticized the publication. He stated, “This type of democracy is worthless for Muslims. Muslims will never accept this kind of humiliation. The article has insulted every Muslim in the world. We demand an apology!”

It’s not surprising that the more militant Danish Muslims would find democracy “worthless”, is it? After all, it doesn’t advance their Islamist aims or hasten the ascendancy of the Caliphate.

Hlayhel had gained notoriety in Denmark back in 2004 for his assertion that Danish women, with their provocative dress and lascivious manner, were inviting rape.

After the cartoon crisis erupted, Hlayhel went on a tour of the Middle East with the Motoons, adding a few bogus ones of his own for their enhanced inflammatory content. The predictable brouhaha followed, with Western dhimmis falling all over each other to abase themselves before the defenders of the Prophet.

Now Sugiero has this update on Imam Hlayhel:

The following article, containing segments from a Friday Prayer held by imam shaykh Raed Hlayhel March 31, was published in Jyllands-Posten May 20. I’ve found it worth translating, because it shows how the despicable Danish imams took advantage of the cartoon controversy.

Via JP, hattip Polemiken:

“The Muhammed controversy was a sign from Allah and a test for the believers. The whole case has been good for the Muslims because it has revealed the infidels, hypocrites and the arrogants. It has also given us, the Muslims, an opportunity to profile ourselves”, imam shaykh Raed Hlayhel stated during his Friday Prayer.

“Good for the Muslims,” indeed. This Danish imam and his colleagues have played the gullible Western press like a ukelele. Erect the hoops, and we’ll jump through them, one after the other.

And we’re not done with the Motoons yet. Expect them to be dusted off when the Iranian crisis really heats up. Look for spontaneous outpourings of righteous Islamic rage carefully targeted to gain the most leverage over the Europeans when the time comes.

As the Saudi Gazette has pointed out, there is scriptural justification for taking action against the blasphemous cartoonists:

Due to the seriousness of the crime of insulting the prophets, scholars concur with the verdict given by Ibn Hazm in his Muhallâ: It is therefore proven that whoever insults the Prophet (peace be upon him) is an unbeliever and an enemy of Allah. Therefore, it is proven that anyone who blasphemes against Allah, insults an angel, calumniates a prophet or mocks him, or makes fun of the verses of the scripture or the divine legislation is an apostate.

It is as stated in the Qur’ân: And if you ask them, they will surely say we were only conversing and playing. Say, Is it Allah and His verses and His messengers that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have disbelieved… [Surah al-Tawbah: 65-66]

Theo Van Gogh was murdered. The Danish cartoonists went into hiding. Comedy Central censored South Park’s episode ridiculing Mohammed, citing their fear of Muslim violence.

Is it any wonder the Islamists think they’ve got us on the run?

  1. My hope is that this is going to prove to be one big cultural sucker punch. Thanks to the dhimmis in the European government, media, and academies (to say nothing of American media and universities) the Islamists figure they’ve got us over a barrel. Thus they will be bold and – maybe – too bold. They might overplay their hand, and act too soon, when they’re not yet strong enough to win.

Riots in European cities are bad. A successful putsch would be worse. The Iranians harbor-nuking New York would be bad … the Islamists getting their hands on all of France’s nukes, and taking out the entire East Coast, would be catastrophic beyond belief.

Dhimmi behaviour in the MSM makes it more likely that the enemy will get cocky. This is a trick that wouldn’t have worked back before the web – the media’s role in boosting morale was far more crucial – but it just might, now, with the MSM becoming increasingly irrelevant to those parts of the West that really care. The Islamists watch CNN, read the New York Times, and figure we’re easy marks … meanwhile, more and more of us know exactly what they’re up to, pay no heed to the ravings of the various marxists and suicidalists in the media, and have no intention of letting them win.

I guess what I’m suggesting here is that we see the media’s fifth columnish behaviour as a blessing in disguise. We’re not going to change their minds – they’ve picked their side, and it’s the wrong one – so we might as well use them to our advantage.

  2. In other words, make the Left into our useful idiots instead of theirs. Ha! That’s quite an interesting idea, Matt. I just hope we don’t get so fed up with the Left that we try to run them out of public life first.

  3. Well, I don’t know…. Here in Denmark the Muslims keep a very low profile after the whole Motoon affair.
Maybe that’s due to the fact that “making fun of the holy scriptures” is exactly what we do. Danes tend to laugh at people who take themselves that seriously. The polls seem to indicate that our dhimmies (yes, we’ve got a few, too) are weaker than ever. The imams here no longer appear on TV, the recent “Islamophia Conference” was a complete fizzle, for the first time ever an entire family stand trial for “homor killing”, Muslim immigration has come to a standstill and we’re sending more troops to Afghanistan as well as keeping our troops in Iraq.

Think of it : Denmark has – at least so far – suffered no major acts of terror, while the more dhimmified countries like Spain (the Madrid train bombings), UK (the London tube bombings) and the US (9/11) all had to pay for their bending over to the “Religion of Peace”. And EUrabia’s most dhimmified country, Sweden, is spiralling down into a quagmire of violent crime, anti-semitism, oppression of political dissidents and open fascism.

I think Ali Sina is right when he says that the best way to fight Islam is to ridicule, humiliate and unveil it.

  4. Kepiblanc —

I am in exact agreement — ridicule, ridicule, and more ridicule. They have no defense against it.

But that’s why they and the left are so anxious to make ridicule unlawful. We are squeezed from the one side by self-censorship, and the other by “hate speech” laws.

It’s best that we should ignore them, and continue to make fun.

  5. The Danish ‘left’ is a joke in itself. They lost the remaining bits of credibility when they affiliated themselves with Islam thus abandoning the old, classical marxism – you know the parts about ‘religion is opium for the people’, equal rights for men and women, ‘scientific progress will eliminate poverty’ etc.. etc…

I know. I’ve been left-leaning most of my life. Not so anymore. Thanks to Mohammad.

  6. One thing that caught my attention when the cartoon jihad started, was that Denmark did not retreat, but pushed back. The Copenhagen public school cafeterias went from halal only to halal optional. It’s not such a big step, but considering that the mainstream press in the land of the Bill of Rights surrendured, it is big enough.

  7. “…Is it Allah and His verses and His messengers that you were mocking?”

    Yep.

    Any more stupid questions Muhammed?

  8. Kepiblanc —

Thanks so much for the insights. It seems there’s never a shortage of bad news from all over Europe, but I think it’s very important to hear more good news such as this. Does anyone aroud the blog-o-sphere regularly focus on successful anti-dhimmi activities?

  9. Fluffy, I think the Muslims have realized that they’ll not win any battles here. The law of least resistance in action. They’ll go for the weak first, like Sweden, France, UK, and nations who invites Taleban scumbags into their universities, sell their harbors to barbarians and praise Islam as a ‘noble religion of peace and tolerance’ (sic).

The most remarkable event, IMHO, was when our PM, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, refused to meet with 12 ambassadors from various barbaristans, telling them that censoring the press was out of question and a meeting consequently meaningless. All EU countries + the US State Department backstabbed him for doing so, but to no avail : no apologies, no meetings, no caving in. They can boycott, they can call in the EU and the UN and whatnot : no bending over here.

For once I’m proud of being Danish.

  10. Kepiblanc —

Danes have every reason to be proud. I wish our leaders had half the manly equipment of Mr. Rasmussen.

    Midnight Crusader —

We’ll post any reports of successful anti-dhimmi activities that anyone chooses to send us! Kepiblanc, Rune, Exile, Sugiero, Henrik, and our other Danish readers are welcome to send translations of anything interesting. I’ll do my best to post them.

Scandinavia is on the front lines of this war.

  11. kepiblanc —

I am an American of mixed Scandanavian and German heritage. Until a couple months ago I would identify my ethnicity as Norwegian. The cartoon jihad changed that. I have never been prouder to call myself Danish.

Baron, or anyone — Is there a good site on the net for learning Danish?

  12. Fluffy —
    Velkommen, Fluffy (welcome, Fluffy) !
Hvis sådant en side existerede, ville det være forbudt af UN (If such a site existed, it would be forbidden by the UN)

See, it’s not that hard….Read some Shakespeare (Hamlet, for example) and you will realize the common heritage.

    Baron —
Thanks for your kind words and for running this great site. And yes, I’ll try to keep you updated on the Danish front.

  13. “I’ve been left-leaning most of my life. Not so anymore. “___There is an honest socialism, which derives from Robert Owen rather than from Marx. The core of real socialism is universal suffrage, and the citizens having power over the government. Marxism is to Socialism as Wahhabism is to Islam. Orwell was a real socialist.

  14. I agree that ridicule is the best weapon against religious fundamentalists. That is why the Religious Policeman blog is so successful

  15. Joshua:

Glad someone likes the idea! I actually don’t think it’ll be that hard to use the MSM as a media weapon: all the blogosphere has to do is what it’s already been doing for the past few years, just more so. It isn’t even necessary that it be any sort of officially articulated strategy … it’s more of a distributed, system-level emergent behaviour.

And of course – as so many point out above – humor is absolutely crucial. The moonbats and the muslims really don’t have any effective response to it (trying to make it illegal doesn’t work, censorship is damned difficult on the internet.) The more they’re laughed at, the more histrionic they get … which just makes them look more ridiculous, and encourages yet more mockery.

I think of it as the West’s version of the open-source media war the Islamists and their Western allies have been waging, the primary difference being: they have to twist the truth, lie outright, and resort to such barbarities as head-hacking and wedding-detonating … but all we have to do is tell the truth and be funny doing it.
