Canada’s Labour Participation Rate Plummeted to 26-Year Low in July

Canada’s economy lost a net 2,800 jobs last month and the country’s unemployment rate remained at a 30-month high of 6.4%, largely due to low labour participation and rapid population growth.

While analysts had predicted the unemployment rate to increase from 6.3% to 6.5% in June, due to Canada’s population growth outpacing the job market, they also forecast a net gain of 22,500 new jobs, however, that was not the case.

Excluding the pandemic, the participation rate of Canada’s labour force dropped to a 26-year low of 65% last month, reflecting that a large cohort of people in Canada are not looking for work.

26 Anti-Israel Agitators Charged for Shutting Down Golden Gate Bridge in April

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has announced charges against 26 agitators who participated in an anti-Israel blockade of the Golden Gate bridge in April, shutting down the bridge and blocking traffic for hours.

“Some charged w/ felony conspiracy, false imprisonment, etc. Arrest warrants issued,” Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin posted on X.

“Victims include someone missing a pre-op brain surgery appointment to remove a brain tumor, a surgeon who had to cancel and reschedule their entire surgery schedule for the day, and a disabled child being stuck on a school bus for four hours on the bridge. Hundreds were trapped on the bridge against their will. Some serious charges here via SFDA Brooke Jenkins — who has taken a tougher on crime approach following the recall of former SFDA Chesa Boudin.”

Combatting “False Narratives”: D.C. Circuit Refuses to Block Judge Limiting the Speech of Jan. 6th Defendant

Authored by Jonathan Turley

We have previously discussed controversial sentences handed down in cases involving rioters on January 6th, including sentencing orders that, in my view, violate First Amendment rights. That included the case of Daniel Goodwyn, who pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of entering and remaining in a restricted building. That crime would ordinarily not involve any jail time for a first offender.

However, Judge Reggie B. Walton of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia decided that he would use the case to regulate what Goodwyn was reading and communicating with a chilling probation order. After the case was sent back by the D.C. Circuit, Walton doubled down on his extraordinary order. Now the D.C. Circuit has refused to hear an emergency appeal.

Statewide, Colorado is also experiencing a 10% increase in eviction filings compared to this time last year with over 25,000 filings as of Aug. 5.

DeSantis Dubs Harris-Walz Ticket: ‘Make America Burn Again’

Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis strongly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.

DeSantis expressed his views through a press conference and on social media platforms shortly after Tuesday morning’s announcement. He argued that Harris and Walz together form an exceptionally progressive ticket, describing it as one of the most extreme in the nation’s political history.

“We all remember the BLM riots of 2020 in Minneapolis,” DeSantis said. “Those were riots that Harris egged on and raised money to bail out the rioters with Minnesota Bail Fund, and they’re riots that Tim Walz as governor sat back and let happen. He sat back and let the city of Minneapolis burn. That city has been gutted as a result of those riots.”

“This is a ticket that really represents the spirit of those 2020 BLM riots,” he continued. “You have a very vapid San Francisco Democrat and then you’ve got an Ilhan Omar-style leftist, Tim Walz, who has the same policies as his fellow Minnesotan Ilhan Omar.”

“We do not need an America that represents the failed policies of San Francisco or the failed policies of Minneapolis,” he said. “We do not need to see poop on the street and cities burning down. That is not a prescription for America to work its way back.”

Dozens of Anti-Israel Demonstrators Gather in Brooklyn to Glorify Assassinated Hamas Boss Ismail Haniyeh: ‘Local Jihadists’

Dozens of protesters held a prayer vigil for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on a Brooklyn street corner Sunday — days after he was killed in a bombing in Iran.

“In the most recent escalations by the Zionist and US imperialist partners, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, was murdered in Tehran,” a young man shrouded in a keffiyeh read from a phone next to a reverent painting of the felled terror leader.

Federal Appellate Court Rules in Favor of Takings Lawsuit Against the CDC’s COVID-Era Eviction Moratorium

On Wednesday, in Darby Development Co. v. United States, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (which reviews takings claims against the federal government ruled that a takings lawsuit against the 2020-21 federal eviction moratorium can proceed. In so doing, it overruled a trial court decision by the Court of Claims, which I criticized here. The decision could well end up setting an important takings precedent.

In September 2020, during the Covid pandemic, the Trump Administration Centers for Disease Control (CDC) imposed a nationwide eviction moratorium, claiming that it would reduce the spread of the disease. The Biden Administration extended the moratorium multiple times. In August 2021, the eviction moratorium was invalidated by the Supreme Court because the CDC lacked proper statutory authority to institute it. But, in the meantime, numerous landlords suffered financial losses, because they could not evict tenants who weren’t paying rent.

Some of the property owners filed a lawsuit arguing that the eviction moratorium violated the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment, which requires the government to pay “just compensation” whenever it takes private property.

Maine Gov’s Democrat Brother Admits ‘Republicans for Harris’ Organized by Harris Campaign [Audio]

Peter Mills, the former executive director of the Maine Turnpike Authority, emerged this week as one of the top faces of “Republicans for Harris.”

The group mirrored in Maine the sudden emergence of a supposed Republican outpouring of support nationally for far-left Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.

But in secretly recorded audio obtained by the Maine Wire from a citizen journalist, Peter Mills revealed that the entire group is astroturf organized by Amy Cookson, a campaign staffer for Vice President Harris’s campaign.

In the recorded audio, Mills, who is the brother of Democratic Gov. Janet Mills and is himself a registered Democrat, explains to a man posing as ‘Tim Dillon’ — an aspiring member of the astroturf group — that it’s being run by Cookson.

Measles Cases on the Rise in Tim Walz’s Minnesota

The state has seen 22 measles cases in 2024, the third highest since 2000, that have affected those not vaccinated against the disease and the Minnesota Department of Health anticipates more on the way.

The Minnesota Department of Health is investigating how three children, aged 10 and younger, contracted the disease because the trio had no apparent contact with one another.

New Documents Show the FBI Implemented Nationwide Social Media Monitoring Ahead of the 2022 Midterms

America First Legal (AFL) has disclosed documents obtained through a lawsuit against the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ), accusing them of concealing federal records that detail government-sponsored censorship by the Biden-Harris administration before the 2022 midterm elections.

The documents revealed that the FBI’s National Election Command Post (NECP) had compiled lists of social media accounts posting what they considered “misinformation,” extending from New York to San Francisco. This included the Right Side Broadcasting Network, cited by Matt Taibbi as targeted for “additional action” by the FBI.

Ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has openly doubted whether President Biden wrote the letter he sent to Democrats last month insisting he was “firmly committed” to staying in the race.

Biden, 81, sent the missive to congressional Dems to try to put to rest any notion that he’d exit the race over widespread concerns about his mental acuity after his June 27 debate performance against GOP foe Donald Trump. Two weeks later, Biden dropped out.

Secret Service Apologizes to Salon Owner Over Break-in, Bathroom Use During Kamala Harris Event

The shear audacity.

The Secret Service apologized to a salon owner in Massachusetts who alleged that individuals broke into her business to use the bathroom during the agency’s security work for a nearby Veep Kamala Harrisfundraiser.

Berkshires businesswoman Alicia Powers says someone picked the lock and broke into her store for the bathroom — after a Secret Service officer covered a camera outside her salon with tape.

The people who proceeded to use the bathroom included a pair in emergency medical uniforms, a person in camouflage law-enforcement gear and someone in a dark suit and white shirt similar to a Secret Service officer who guarded the door, Powers said, citing footage.

A Secret Service rep was adamant that agents would not break into buildings like that — but did not deny that an officer covered her camera with tape, an act that was captured by surveillance footage, and appeared to cop some sort of mea culpa in a statement.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating after a pair of stabbing attacks across the city on Saturday left two men dead and third hospitalized.

Police said the first attack on Saturday happened along the 400 block of N. Wanamaker Street in West Philadelphia.

Officials said in this incident, officers responding to the scene found a 20-year-old man who had been stabbed twice in the stomach laying in the roadway at about 6:25 p.m.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where, officials said, he was pronounced at about 12:40 a.m. on Sunday.

No arrests have been made in this incident and an investigation is ongoing, according to police.

The second deadly stabbing on Saturday happened along the 4600 block of Whitaker Avenue at about 8:58 p.m., officials said.

‘This is a Fundamentally Fake Person’: JD Vance Slams Kamala for ‘Running a Movie’ Not a Political Campaign

In an interview with CNN’s State of The Union, Senator and Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of “running a movie” instead of a genuine political campaign. Vance claimed that Harris is a “chameleon” who changes her appearance and identity based on the audience she’s addressing.

“She only speaks to voters behind a teleprompter, everything is scripted, she doesn’t have her policy positions out there,” Vance remarked during the interview. He further criticized Harris for her inconsistent stances on key issues, saying, “She hasn’t answered why she wanted to ban fracking but now she doesn’t. She wanted to defund the police, but now she doesn’t. She wanted to open the border, but now she doesn’t.”

“She should have to answer for why she presents a different set of policies to one audience and a different set of policies to another audience,” Vance added.

Virginia Secretary of Education Warns Universities to Prepare for Anti-Israel Protests Amid Reports Campus Disruptions ‘Will be Even More Chaotic’

Secretary Aimee R. Guidera urged Virginia public universities on Thursday to take measures to strengthen campus safety and security ahead of the fall semester, according to an email obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. In the spring, anti-Israel protesters caused massive disruptions to learning and jeopardized the safety of Jewish students on campuses across the nation, including at the University of Virginia, the state’s flagship college.

“Considering the challenges faced on college and university campuses last academic year and reports that the fall will be even more chaotic, we have asked each institution [to] take proactive steps to update policies and improve communication channels before students return this fall,” Guidera said.

“I cannot overemphasize the critical importance of completing this necessary work within the next couple of weeks before students return to campus,” she added in bold.

Specifically, she urged schools to update codes of conduct regarding disruptions of school functions, legal violations, “unlawful masking,” encampments, and “facility usage by affiliated and non-affiliated persons/groups.”

Ontario Government Censors Man Holding Officials Accountable for Pandemic Lockdowns

A constitutional challenge has been launched against one Ontario Ministry for its alleged role in censoring a billboard criticizing politicians.

George Katerberg, a retired HVAC technician, shuttered his business after the COVID pandemic. In response, he rented a billboard along Highway 17 near Thessalon, where he resides, to vent his frustration.

It displayed the faces of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Theresa Tam, and the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“They knowingly lied about safety and stopping transmission,” it read. “Canadians demand accountability.”

However, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation denied him permission to erect the billboard in March for its alleged use of ‘white supremacist’ imagery.

Exclusive: UK’s ‘Enemy of the State’ Tommy Robinson on the Breakdown of British Civil Liberty

By Ezra Levant

I’ve known Tommy Robinson for ten years and I’ve watched his David vs. Goliath battles against the establishment, sometimes from the front row. But they’ve never come for Tommy like they’re doing now.

Keir Starmer, the new UK prime minister, has painted a target on Tommy’s back, telling the country that he’s the one instigating the riots, and promising to hunt down anyone who even so much as “retweets” Tommy on Twitter. It’s so important that the world knows what’s really going on — if Starmer got his way, everything Tommy does (and everything we do) would be censored, and even punishable by jail.

Here’s a one-hour interview I had with Tommy last night. Tommy talks about:

  • How Tommy led two massive peaceful rallies, and how riots are counterproductive — and possibly whipped up by agents provocateurs
  • The two-tier policing double standard when it comes to migrants vs. indigenous Brits.
  • The twelve times police told Tommy that people were trying to kill him and his family
  • How Elon Musk’s dedication to free speech has given “forgotten Britain” its voice back
  • Tommy’s thoughts on Piers Morgan, Nigel Farage and GB News
  • Details on his court battles, including his upcoming contempt of court hearing

Greece: ‘Manmade Climate Change’ Narrative Completely Fabricated, Study Warns

A recent study has concluded that globalist claims of “manmade climate change” are completely fabricated and have no basis in reality.

The researchers found that there is no scientific evidence to support theories of anthropogenic “global warming.”

According to the study, led by leading scientists in Greece, claims that humans cause “climate change” are based on imagination and assumptions.

The study’s paper, authored by lead researcher Professor Demetris Koutsoyiannis of the National Technical University of Athens, was published in the scientific journal AIMS Press.

Lord Pearson Warns of Rising Islamic Influence in UK During Speech

Malcolm Pearson discussed the perils of Islam and offered strategies aimed at preventing terrorism during a speech in the House of Lords on July 25.

Speaking about the increasing threat of Islamic terrorism, Pearson said “When we use the word terrorism nowadays, we usually mean Islamist terrorism.”

“MI5 tells us that Islamist terrorism is now the UK’s most significant threat.”

The former UK Independence Party leader went on to discuss how criticism of Islam is often labelled as Islamophobia.

“If we so much as try to talk about Islam or Islamism, we are immediately accused of Islamophobia,” said Lord Pearson.

“A phobia is an irrational fear of something. But it isn’t irrational to fear the modern world’s most violent religious ideology,” he said.

UK: Chester: Woman Bailed Over False Southport Suspect Post

A 55-YEAR-old woman arrested in relation to a social media post containing inaccurate information about the identity of the suspect in the Southport killings has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The woman, from near Chester, was arrested on Thursday (August 8) on suspicion of publishing written material to stir up racial hatred and false communications, Cheshire Police said.

Chief Superintendent Alison Ross previously said: “We have all seen the violent disorder that has taken place across the UK over the past week, much of which has been fuelled by malicious and inaccurate communications online.

“It’s a stark reminder of the dangers of posting information on social media platforms without checking the accuracy.

“It also acts as a warning that we are all accountable for our actions, whether that be online or in person.”

UK: The Abstemious Scientists Accused of Using ‘Flawed’ Research to Tell You to Stop Drinking

There is no safe level of alcohol. A single drink a day could shave almost three months off your life. And drinking can boost your cancer risk by 23 per cent.

These are the findings of a controversial British scientist whose headline-grabbing research is influencing government policy and drinkers around the world.

Dr Tim Stockwell’s work — which has been published in The Lancet, among other esteemed organs — has inspired a new crackdown on alcohol that has seen daily drinking guidelines slashed in Canada and Australia. The US may next year follow suit, and the UK anti-alcohol lobby is using Dr Stockwell’s work as it warms up for a similar fight.

But many of Dr Stockwell’s respected peers say it is far from settled science and have cast doubt on his research. They question his motives and accuse him of being a front for a worldwide temperance lobby that is secretly attempting to ban alcohol.

Thousands Protest Against Lithium Mining in Serbia

Thousands of people in Serbia have protested in Belgrade against plans to mine one of Europe’s largest deposits of lithium — a crucial raw material for electric car batteries.

Activists say the mine would cause irreversible environmental destruction to Serbia’s Jadar Valley, where the deposit is located.

A licence granted to mining giant Rio Tinto was revoked in 2022 following widespread protests in the country, but the project was restarted last month following a court decision and government U-turn.

President Aleksandar Vucic has insisted that strict environmental safety protocols will be put in place.

Protesters in the capital chanted “Rio Tinto get out of Serbia” and held banners saying “We do not give Serbia away” as they marched through the city.

Serbia’s Interior Ministry estimated that between 24,000 and 27,000 people joined the protest.

Environmental activists also took over two of the city’s main railway stations — with some lying or sitting on the tracks.

Israel Widens Evacuation Orders in Southern Gaza After Deadly Strike on School-Turned-Shelter

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — The Israeli military ordered more evacuations in southern Gaza early Sunday, a day after a deadly airstrike on a school-turned-shelter in the north killed at least 80 Palestinians, according to local health authorities. The airstrike was one of the deadliest attacks in the 10-month war.

Israel has repeatedly ordered mass evacuations as its troops return to heavily destroyed areas where they previously battled Palestinian militants. The vast majority of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million people have been displaced, often multiple times, in the besieged territory 25 miles (40 kilometers) long by about 7 miles (11 kilometers) wide.

The latest evacuation orders apply to areas of Khan Younis, Gaza’s second-largest city, including part of an Israeli-declared humanitarian zone from which the military said rockets had been fired. Israel accuses Hamas and other militants of hiding among civilians and launching attacks from residential areas.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Kyiv of “intimidating the peaceful population of Russia”.

Canada: Senior Citizen Has Accounts Terminated by Scotiabank Apparently for Criticizing DEI Policy

Do you remember the good old days when Canada’s big banks were all about… financial services? Savings and chequeing accounts, RRSPs, mortgages, and so on?

Increasingly, these days, thanks to the virus that is “wokeness”, Canada’s big banks are actually “de-banking” certain customers. These are not deadbeat clients nor con artists. Rather, thanks to the unholy trinity of diversity, equity, and inclusion, if a bank deems a client guilty of “wrong-thought”, that customer might very well be “fired.”

This disturbing Orwellian approach to financial services surely hit a crescendo in 2022 when thousands of Canadians had their bank accounts frozen simply for making an online donation to the Freedom Convoy. It was equal parts shocking and disgraceful.

And consider our story last year, in which we drew attention to the case of Gary Duke of Grand Prairie, Alta. He was fired as a customer by his local Scotiabank branch when Gary politely asked if it was possible to remove the rainbow icon from his Scotiabank phone app given “Pride Month” had come to an end.

Those comments were not appreciated nor tolerated, and in the name of “inclusivity”, Gary had his bank accounts terminated.

Our latest example of wokeness driving bank policy is the inexplicable case regarding Toronto senior citizen “Jane” (she doesn’t want her real name used as she doesn’t want to incur further penalization from any other banks).

Canada: Ontario Judge Defends Pro-Life Prayer Vigils, Opposes Silencing Speech

Imane Khelif Seeks to Unmask “Cyberbullies” Behind Online Criticism

Imane Khelif, the Algerian Olympic gold medalist in women’s welterweight boxing, has lodged a legal complaint against the backdrop of what has been described as online “harassment” following victory in the Paris Olympics. Khelif’s dispute stems from a cloud of intense scrutiny concerning gender after winning over China’s Liu Yang in the 66kg category.

The criticism began when an eligibility test conducted by the IBA, a controversial and now discredited boxing authority, cast doubts about Khelif’s sex. This led to viral social media posts suggesting that Khelif, and Lin Yu-ting from Taiwan, another Olympian, might not be female due to reportedly having XY chromosomes.

Khelif’s attorney, Nabil Boudi, announced that a formal complaint of aggravated cyber harassment had been filed with the Paris prosecutor’s office. “Mrs Khelif contacted the firm, which filed a complaint yesterday for aggravated cyber harassment with the online hate center of the Paris prosecutor’s office,” said Boudi.

Tim Walz Believes 10-Year-Olds Can Choose Their Own Gender: 2017 Townhall

In a 2017 townhall, current Minnesota governor and Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz explained his belief that children in the 4th grade, aged just 10 years old, are capable of choosing their own gender. Walz said “these are children my son’s age— a fourth grader, a 10-year-old—who just wants to go to the bathroom and their identity is they are male or female.”

Walz, then a congressman from Manakto, made the remarks during a townhall at Minnesota’s Rochester Community and Technical College on February 23, 2017. The townhall came just as headlines were being made by the Trump administration, which had rescinded changes made to Title IX under the Obama administration that stated that biological sex and gender identity should be treated exactly the same way under the Civil Rights Act.

Netherlands: Climate Stickers Block Locks in Ijmuiden and Passage Through Cruise Ship

Seven climate stickers from Extinction Rebellion blocked the locks of IJmuiden in the night from Friday to Saturday, stopping the cruise ship Jewel of the Seas.

Around 3:00 a.m., seven activists chained and glued themselves to the lock.

The activists called their action “a direct indictment of the scandalous pollution caused by cruise shipping.”

They say they deliberately blocked the arrival of the gigantic cruise ship, the Jewel of the Seas.

On its website, Extinction Rebellion demands ‘in the midst of the devastating climate and ecological crisis, an immediate and total halt to the destructive cruise industry’.

At 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, the activists called it a day, reports the NOS.

Apparently, the glued and chained activists could easily free themselves or each other.

Because of the right to demonstrate, the police did not intervene.

“As long as no human lives are in danger, we do not necessarily have to intervene,” the police said. Buses However, there were approximately 2,000 affected passengers who were on their way to the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam by ship.

Some of them would fly home from Schiphol on an early flight.

Because the journey by ship to Amsterdam would now take too much time for passengers who had an early flight, it was decided to deploy 80 buses and trucks from all over the country.

A major logistical operation ensued, in which luggage was unloaded on the quay.

Afterwards, the passengers were transported to Amsterdam or Schiphol.
