Canada: Morneau Blames Inflation on Liberal COVID Spending That ‘Went on for Too Long’

Trudeau’s former finance minister continues to hold Cabinet to account after criticizing their inflationary spending publicly for the second time.

Bill Morneau oversaw the delivery of many COVID programs as minister that lasted longer than necessary. He admitted the federal government’s pandemic spending went on for too long and contributed to Canada’s current inflationary woes.

“I think the early efforts were appropriate and important. They were, in several cases, too large. That was not purely a Canadian issue; other countries had the same problem,” Morneau told the Harvard International Review.

1 Dead, 8 Wounded, in Philadelphia Block Party Shooting

Nearly 40 rounds were fired by multiple shooters, police said.

A gunbattle erupted at a Philadelphia block party over the weekend, leaving a teenager dead and eight other people injured, according to police.

The shooting unfolded early Saturday in the Parkside neighborhood in the western part of the city and investigators suspect multiple shooters were involved. At least 38 rounds were fired in the incident, sending a large crowd gathered for the block party scrambling for cover.

Capt. Anthony Mirabella Jr. of the Philadelphia Police Department said numerous 911 calls were made to the police dispatch center at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, reporting a barrage of gunfire and multiple gunshot victims.

The 19-year-old man fatally shot in the incident was hit multiple times by gunfire, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 5:40 a.m. Saturday, according to police. The victim’s name is being withheld by police pending an autopsy, authorities said.

14 U.S Cities Planning to Ban Meat, Dairy, Private Cars by 2030

14 American cities have set a “target” to comply with the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) green agenda goals by banning meat, dairy, and private car ownership by 2030.

The U.S. cities have formed a coalition called the “C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group” (C40).

The C40 has established an “ambitious target” to meet the WEF’s goals by the year 2030.

To fulfill the “target,” the C40 Cities have pledged that their residents will comply with the following list of mandatory rules:

“0 kg [of] meat consumption”

“0 kg [of] dairy consumption”

“3 new clothing items per person per year”

“0 private vehicles” owned

“1 short-haul return flight (less than 1500 km) every 3 years per person”

The C40 Cities’ dystopian goals can be found in its “The Future of Urban Consumption in a 1.5°C World” report.

DOJ and FBI Are Subpoenaed for Big Tech Censorship Documents

The House Judiciary Committee has issued subpoenas of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI to furnish documents linked to an investigation into claims of collusion between the Biden administration and Big Tech firms. The claims suggest an unsettling alliance designed to orchestrate online censorship, infringing on American citizens’ First Amendment rights.

Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, disclosed this development in letters to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray. The committee seeks to probe into the alleged cooperation between the executive branch and tech firms to suppress free speech. The documents demanded through the subpoenas are expected to be submitted by September 18th.

Crown Drops Charges Against Ontario Pastor for Reopening His Church

Pastor Michael Thiessen of Grace Baptist Church in Simcoe, Ontario, was charged in 2021 under the Reopening Ontario Act. This law closed businesses and limited church capacity to combat the spread of COVID.

The Crown prosecutor has agreed to stay charges against pastor Michael Thiessen of Grace Baptist Church, who had been charged in April 2021 after complaints to police that his church was non-compliant with limits of church attendance.

The church was then placed under surveillance, and congregants were stopped in a drunk-driving-style check-stop operation by police. Thiessen was charged at this time.

“We are pleased that taxpayer-funded resources will no longer be devoted to this prosecution, which had been carried on pursuant to unscientific laws that were unjustified violations of our Charter rights and freedoms,” stated John Carpay, president of the Justice Centre. The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms has been representing the pastor.

A trial for Mr. Thiessen had been scheduled for September 14, 2024.

AI Cameras in the UK Start Surveilling INSIDE Vehicles

In a move that veers into Big Brother territory, a newly implemented AI camera system tagged as “pioneering” technology by proponents, has caught nearly 300 drivers neglecting their seatbelts or using their phones in just three days. This technological marvel, installed along one of Devon and Cornwall’s busiest roads, has sparked concerns over free speech and potential overreach of surveillance. Especially now that actions taking place inside of vehicles are being surveilled.

Drawing on data from the Department of Transport’s Road Casualty Report, a staggering 24 percent of fatalities were passengers not wearing a seatbelt. Between June 2021 and June 2022, 29,804 people were tragically killed or grievously injured on British roads.

Cyprus: Outrage Over Turkish Plans to Turn Historic Monastery Into Mosque

Plans to partially convert a historic Cypriot monastery into a mosque have incurred the wrath of ecclesiastical authorities and Cypriot nationalists, as authorities in the Turkish-occupied north of the country temporarily shelved the idea following a very public backlash.

An announcement late last month of a proposal by local Islamic groups to build a Muslim prayer centre (masjid) on the grounds of the Apostolos Andreas Monastery sparked national outrage as officials in the south of the island said it was “unthinkable” that the plans could go ahead.

The twelfth-century Apostolos Andreas Monastery—associated with St. Andrew the Apostle, despite being located in the Turkish-occupied north-eastern quadrant of the island—has been compared to the “Lourdes of Cyprus” by many historians and is a site of paramount religious importance to the island’s Orthodox Christian community.

Czechia: Anti-Ukrainian March in Pilsen: Protesters Discontent Refugee Presence

In Pilsen, Czech Republic, an anti-Ukrainian march took place. The event, according to the newspaper Novinky, gathered around 100 participants and proceeded without incidents.

The organizers of the march did not inform local authorities. The gathering of participants was organized through social networks. The reason for the march was an incident that occurred a week ago when an 18-year-old Ukrainian young man, who is not a refugee, attacked a 15-year-old schoolgirl in the city.

EU Taxpayer Money to Fund Timmermans in Dutch Political Campaign

Flemish Farmers Aim to Mimic Dutch Success After Antwerp Rally

Convoys of tractors were seen on the motorway heading to the Flemish city of Antwerp this morning as approximately 1,000 farmers and assorted supporters gathered to protest government hypocrisy over the implementation of new nitrogen emission regulations, which they say will shatter their livelihoods.

This is just the latest example of agrarian discontent growing throughout Europe. The Flemish Farmers Defence Force (FDF) aims to copy the recent advances made by their Dutch counterparts with direct action against government moves to enforce new nitrogen cuts, which they feel will cripple the Belgian agricultural industry.

Farmers focused the Friday morning protest on a planned chemical plant owned by the British multinational Inspec Ethylene Oxide and Specialities (INEOS), which was recently given a licence by the regional Flemish government despite pollution fears and the ongoing assault on the farmers over nitrogen emissions.

In a significant move against school bullying, the French government has introduced new measures that will see bullies transferred to different schools, rather than their victims, a reversal from previous practices. Director of the ALCHM association, which advocates against bullying and child abuse, Wilfrid Issanga applauded the move. He remarked, “This decision sends a resounding message to educators and parents alike.” He further added, “The Minister has proactively addressed the issue.”

German Catholic Group Considers Banning AfD Members From Lay Positions

The head of one of Germany’s major Roman Catholic associations has called for banning members of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) from lay positions within the Roman Catholic Church, arguing their conservative values are in contradiction to the faith.

In an interview with the Catholic online magazine Kirche + Leben released earlier this week, Stetter-Karp argued, “Over the years, the party [AfD] has moved further and further to the right. And it is clear that anti-Semitic, racist, and inhuman attitudes and statements have no place in a Catholic organization.”

Andreas Gassen, the head of the organization, is calling for “reformist steps” and is accusing the German Ministry of Health of insufficient funding and excessive bureaucracy that negatively impacts the work of doctors. “There is no compensation for inflation, and the medical profession is burdened with bureaucracy and immature digital applications, such as electronic prescriptions,” says Gassen.

Scholz Says Germany Will ‘Never’ Send Troops to Ukraine as Public Turns Against Escalation

Germany has vowed to never get sucked into the Ukraine conflict to the point of placing troops in the country, according to fresh remarks of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

He addressed an event organized by the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper on Friday, and the press asked him about the dangers of escalation in Ukraine, given Germany is supplying Kiev with weapons, including Leopard 2 battle tanks, which itself was a deeply controversial move representing an about-face at the time the decision was made.

Currently German officials are debating whether or not to supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, which Moscow would surely view as another major escalation.

Two-in-One: Referendum to be Held During Poland’s October Elections

Poland’s lower house of parliament, the Sejm, on Thursday, August 17th, passed a law allowing for a nationwide referendum to be held on October 15th, the same day as parliamentary elections.

Among other topics, Poles will be asked to voice their opinion on the EU’s migrant redistribution scheme.

The new law was passed by 234 votes to 210, with seven abstentions.

Opposition parties are boycotting the referendum, which they claim is a misuse of public funds as well as an attempt by the ruling conservative party PiS (Law and Justice) to drum up support from voters at the ballot box.

As part of the referendum, people will be asked four questions.

For a brief moment, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak seemed to amplify that echo with a tweet that implied the UK was still part of the EU. (Needless to say the tweet was hastily corrected.)

Caroline Glick: Israel’s #MeToo Stalinists Celebrate Their Victory

Campaigners against Israel’s Netanyahu government scored a notable victory on Aug. 4. After a six-month demonization, defamation and harassment campaign against the Kohelet Policy Forum and its chief donor, Arthur Dantchik, Dantchik, a Philadelphia businessman, announced that he was ending his support for the conservative Jerusalem think tank.

Moshe Koppel, a Bar-Ilan University professor, founded Kohelet a decade ago as a full-spectrum policy think tank. Like its opposites on the left, Kohelet has developed policies on legal reform, economics, education and welfare. Its scholars work closely with like-minded policymakers to advance their policies in government ministries and the Knesset.

In March, Kohelet became the target of a demonization campaign the likes of which Israel has never seen. Its offices were barricaded and vandalized. Its leaders were assaulted on the streets and in restaurants, and were subjected to noisy demonstrations at their homes in pre-dawn riots. Israel Defense Forces Brig. Gen. (res.) Nehemia Dagan called for the military “neutralization” of Kohelet, describing its funders as “Jews of the kind upon which the antisemitic ‘Protocols of the Elders of Zion’ was based.”

Dantchik, whose funding enabled Koppel to establish Kohelet, was subjected to a prolonged, no-holds-barred campaign in Philadelphia.

Yaya Fink is a professional far-left political activist and failed two-time Knesset candidate. Until this year, he served as the CEO of Darkenu, a dark-money leftist pressure group that is associated with continuous efforts to oust Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Darkenu’s billionaire funder Kobi Richter proclaimed Saturday in a radio interview that the left will succeed in its anti-government campaign because it controls the military and the economy. It will destroy the economy to force Netanyahu to comply with its demands, he added.

Fink is a central figure in the anti-government campaign. He hosted an Aug. 8 Zoom conference with more than 1,000 participants to celebrate the victory over Dantchik and Kohelet. Conference speakers were key actors behind the operation…

Russian Airfield is Obliterated by Ukraine Kamikaze Drone as Video Captures Moment Another Attack Wipes Out Key Railway Station Used to Transport Putin’s Weapons, Troops and Ammunition

Ukraine has launched two major kamikaze drone strikes that took out one of Putin’s prized nuclear bombers in a spectacular fireball and caused significant damage to a train station used to supply Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

New footage of the strike on Soltsy airbase in the Novgorod region shows one of Russia’s nuclear bombers being swallowed by an enormous fireball.

Smoke billowing from the fireball could be seen for miles around.

Russia’s defence ministry tried downplaying the attack, claiming that just one of the bombers was hit:

‘The Kyiv regime carried out a terrorist attack using a copter-type UAV on a military airfield in Novgorod region.

‘As a result of the terrorist attack on the territory of the airfield, a fire broke out in the aircraft parking lot, which was promptly eliminated by fire brigades.

‘One plane was damaged, but there were no casualties as a result of the terrorist attack,’ it added.

But Ukrainian sources countered this claim, saying that two Tu-22M3 bombers were badly damaged.

On top of this, the Institute for the Study of War said a Russian insider told them that the fire damaged at least two aircraft.

Russian media has since reported that at least six of the supersonic bombers have been relocated to Olenya airbase, nearly 1,000 miles away.

The attack on the prized bomber came a day before a major railway station was also attacked in a suspected Ukrainian kamikaze drone strike.

There was a fire and damage to the roof and façade of the Kursk train station on a line used to transport weapons, troops and ammunition to Vladimir Putin’s illegal war against Ukraine.

Footage showed the moment of attack as drone attacks were also reported in Moscow and Rostov region.

Hungarian Chief of Security Advisor: Neary 500 Border Violations on Average Weekday and More on Weekends

Hungary’s Chief Security Advisor György Bakondi said there are almost 500 border violations on the average weekday and even more at weekends.

Bakondi told public television that the latest data shows that 91,000 people tried to cross the border illegally this year and criminal proceedings were undertaken against 700 people smugglers who typically operated in large gangs. He said that whereas armed violence on the Serbian side of the border had been confined to various migrant groups, a novel development was that a few days ago a local involved in community media in Hajdukovo (Hajdújaras) had been on the receiving end of a hand grenade attack. Also, illegal migrant activity has increased on the Italian and Balkan routes, Bakondi said. Meanwhile, in another interview, he told public radio that it would be dangerous to set up an open refugee camp with a capacity of 20,000-30,000 near the border town of Röszke because this would risk accepting people involved in shootings on the other side of the border. As already witnessed in Bicske and Debrecen in the past, having an open camp would pose extreme risks to Hungarian and European internal security, including social, health, educational and accommodation systems.

Legalise Euthanasia, or Risk Falling Behind, Warns Finnish Doctor

Finland has no intention of legalising euthanasia. Yet, despite the current right-wing conservative coalition government in place, at least one Finnish doctor has called for the practice of assisted death to be legal, arguing that legalising euthanasia would eliminate suffering.

Palliative physician Juha Hänninen, who is head of the association Right to a Dignified Death, has claimed that government plans to expand palliative care are not enough and that to end suffering, assisted death must be made legal by the government, news outlet Yle reports. Hänninen said:

For the Christian Democrats, this is an ideological issue. They think that it is against God’s will for man to make decisions about the end of his life. And they put these to each other as alternatives. However, in no country where euthanasia law is in force has it reduced the development of hospice and palliative care. Quite the opposite.

The Decline and Fall of ‘Woke’

by Daniel Greenfield

Walking into the children’s section of a public library, I spotted a copy of ‘Woke: A Young Poet’s Call to Justice’’. Published in 2020, it’s almost a cultural artifact because ‘woke’ has gone from a hip term for leftism to a battered conservative punching bag in the culture war.

‘Woke’, the term, peaked in 2020. In 2017, it was added to the Oxford English Dictionary and appeared as a category on Jeopardy. Next year, Essence magazine announced its list of ‘Woke 100 Women’. In 2020, Disney’s Hulu aired ‘Woke’:, a tedious series about a college activist.

By 2023, wokeness has come to mean leftist extremism. It’s most often used by Republicans and hardly ever by Democrats who act baffled at the idea that there was ever such a thing as wokeness. Much like ‘Defund the Police’, a set of sounds that once defined lefty culture, has been flushed down the memory hole and everyone is pretending they never heard of it.

In Seattle, the home of wokeness, “race and equity experts” say it’s “time to get rid of woke.”

“That word has been taken,” Erin Jones, a DEI consultant who charges $1,000 an hour for her workshops, admitted. “There’s no good way to use that term. I think it’s been so weaponized at this point that there was not a positive way to use the word ‘woke.’“

What happened to ‘Woke’ is the same thing that once happened to ‘Liberal’. Conservatives seized on it and used it to sum up everything wrong with leftist extremism. Before long, no one wanted to identify as a liberal because it meant being seen as a lunatic fighting for sex ed for kids, free needles for addicts, political correctness in the office and surrendering to enemies.

Leftist support for these policies never went away, but leftism underwent a rebrand…

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin has emerged from oblivion and recorded a new video from Africa:
Moving on! The temperature is +50. Everything just the way we like it. The Wagner Army is doing reconnaissance and exploration, making Russia even bigger on all continents and Africa even freer. Justice and happiness for the African peoples. We are here to finish off ISIS, Al-Qaeda and other scum. And we are hiring real men of courage. We continue to do the jobs we were given and promised to do successfully.”
