Silvester: Ideology Before Reality?

This the third in an occasional series of translations by Nash Montana about the aftermath of what happened on New Year’s Eve 2016 in Cologne and the rest of Germany.

The essay below was published not long after New Year’s at, the website of the German feminist Alice Schwarzer:

Silvester: Ideology before reality?

Alice Schwarzer: Again it can’t be said who the (potential) offenders were. Namely that they were police known “North African repeat offenders”, “Nafris” for short. The preventive measures taken by proactive Cologne police were racist, said Green Party President Peters. But she didn’t waste a single word on the women who were efficiently protected that night.

If it wasn’t so bitterly serious, I could laugh myself to death! There again, unbelievably, another 2,000 or so men of the same provenance tried to create trouble at the main train station in Cologne. And for days so many haven’t even been talking about the truly harrowing and audacious repeat, nor do they talk about the fact that the police prevented worse this time. No, they talk about the use by police during their work of the abbreviation “Nafri” to describe “North African repeat offenders”. Huge outrage. Racism! In short: The deliberate confusion of 2015 is repeating itself.

Exactly a year ago today EMMA was one of the first to report what really happened on Silvester Night. That circa 1,000 men (since then we have learned: it was almost 2,000) of “Arabic and North African descent” were sexually violent towards women. EMMA compared the methods of these men with those at the Cairo Tahrir Plaza. And for that, namely that EMMA dared to utter these words of reality, we were reviled and berated as “racists” by many right up to today.

Back then I wrote that the perpetrators must have made some kind of arrangement and that there was purpose behind their actions. The reactions from the left and left-liberal media: Scorn and ridicule. But in the meantime it’s indisputable that these North Africans planned and colluded to meet at the train station a year ago and again this year (we just don’t exactly know how yet). And FOCUS also reported, “experts assume mastermind behind these groups” at this link.

We can thank the strategies of the new police chief of Cologne that this year was not a repeat of last year. Jürgen Mathies expected these gents and met them with a posse of 1,500 policemen and women (and he felt during the evening that it was necessary to call in another 200 reinforcements). And this time the police intervened preventively before things could happen.

Now was everybody in Germany happy that the horror night of Cologne 2015 wasn’t repeated this time, and have they thanked the police for it? Oh no! The green party chief, Simone Peters, had nothing better to do but to denounce the preventive measures of the police as “racial profiling”, therefore accusing the police of being racially motivated. She found politically correct speech more important than reality: For Peters and for the rest of the usual suspects on the internet, “Nafri” was THE sin of Silvester 2016.

Cologne: The Crushing Insight of Silvester Night 2016

This the third in an occasional series of translations by Egri Nök about the ramifications of New Year’s Eve 2016 (Silvesternacht) in Cologne and other German cities.

The following article was published in Die Welt:

Cologne: The crushing insight of Silvester Night 2016

by Dirk Schümer

Silvester 2016 had to happen under police protection. But a torturing long year of debates and accusations had barely any effect on those who arranged to meet to commit acts of violence.

Silvester night 2016 was worse than feared. This does not refer to the hundreds of victims of violent excesses at Cologne Cathedral on the last day of 2015; the German police were able to prevent such widespread crime this time.

But what was worse, nonetheless: A tantalizing long year of initial suppression, of debates and mutual political accusation did not have any effect at all on those who arrange to meet for acts of violence on Silvester.

The same procedure [reference to “Dinner for One”] — they really tried it again. While it was possible in 2015 to have doubts that this worrying phenomenon was based on appointment and planning, such speculations are now obsolete. The many young men from Northern Africa, who were screened by the police in the days prior to Silvester, stated point-blank: They wanted to go to Cologne “to party”.

What did they want in Cologne?

After the dismissals by the police, which killed the mood, it can’t be ruled out that the Silvesterlust of all these men would just have come to a boozy Polonaise and a multicultural street party around the Cathedral of Cologne.

But what is more likely is the crushing realization that the mass violence of 2015 was taken quite well by the perpetrators. And why not? As barely any perpetrator had to suffer legal consequences, there was no reason for them to postpone the party in 2016.

The declarations by police and authorities of Cologne sound almost funny, that they were still not quite sure what the roughly 1,500 drunken and aggressive Northern Africans wanted in Cologne. What do you think?

The reaction of the politicians of the “welcome faction” was equally predictable: have the “New fellow citizens” been terribly wronged by the ethnic narrowing of the range of perpetrators by the police?

Strikingly few women on the streets

As always in Germany, the control of the public dialogue was more important than the control of public safety. That Germany would “drastically change” — this proverbial statement by a Green senior politician [Katrin Göring-Eckardt] can be confirmed for Silvester 2016, with a lot of police and strikingly few women on the streets.

This finding does not apply for the friends of the prayer wheel [idiom: repeating the same thing, over and over] such as the head of the Greens, Peter, or the SPD politician Lauer: The crimes in Cologne did not change them at all.

Will Europe Collapse Without Muslim Immigration?

by Fjordman

Will Europe collapse without continued Muslim immigration? That seems to be the view of senior EU officials such as Federica Mogherini.

Mogherini, an Italian former Communist, is the current High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. This basically makes her the EU’s Minister for Foreign Affairs. She gave an interesting interview with the major Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera in early February 2017.

In the interview, Mogherini claimed that mass migration is impossible to stop. She further stated that the European economy would become paralyzed and that Europe would “collapse” demographically without continued immigration.[1]

Admittedly, in this particular paragraph, Mogherini did not specifically mention the words Islam, Islamic or Muslim. However, on other occasions, she has made it abundantly clear that Muslim immigration is part of what Europe needs to avoid a collapse.

Federica Mogherini made such remarks at an Islam in Europe conference in June 2015.[2] She then dismissed any notion of a clash between Islam and the West, stating that “Islam holds a place in our Western societies. Islam belongs in Europe. It holds a place in Europe’s history, in our culture, in our food and — what matters most — in Europe’s present and future.” Europeans should celebrate “diversity,” which includes Islam. She further stated that “I am not afraid to say that political Islam should be part of the picture.”

Mogherini said that:

“Some people are now trying to convince us that a Muslim cannot be a good European citizen, that more Muslims in Europe will be the end of Europe. These people are not just mistaken about Muslims: these people are mistaken about Europe — that is my core message — they have no clue what Europe and the European identity are. This is our common fight: to make this concept accepted both in Europe and beyond Europe. For Europe and Islam face some common challenges in today’s world. The so-called Islamic State is putting forward an unprecedented attempt to pervert Islam for justifying a wicked political and strategic project.”[3]

Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants have crossed the Mediterranean in 2015, 2016 and 2017, headed for Europe. The European Union’s way of dealing with immigration is through cooperation and partnership, not confrontation. Mogherini told the media this ahead of a summit on Malta in 2017. “We do not believe in walls or bans,” she added.[4] She further stated that there should be no discrimination against migrants based on faith.[5]

For tens of millions of European citizens, mass immigration has become a huge social and economic burden as well as a major security threat. However, the leaders of the EU view Muslim immigration as an opportunity, even as the solution to Europe’s problems. To the oligarchs of the European Union, Islam is not a problem. Islamophobia is.

Varieté Identitaire: A Greeting to the Intelligence Service

The following video — a song followed by a brief statement — comes from an authentic voice of the German resistance. The singer Melanie Halle and her pianist Till have taken a cherished theatrical tradition and updated it for the 21st century. German citizens are currently groaning under the weight of oppressive state intelligence surveillance — the modern equivalent of the Reichssicherheitshauptamt of the 1940s.

This chanson is the work of the German Identitaires, toned down from the typical screaming political lunacy of the Internet, and far less strident than a street demo. The format, with its custom-written music and lyrics and a lack of identifiable “hate” keywords, will be much harder for YouTube and Facebook to censor. Or so it seems — we’ll see.

Many thanks to Nash Montana for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Below is a brief article about the song from Politically Incorrect, also translated by Nash Montana:

Varieté Identitaire: A Greeting to the Intelligence Service

The identitäre Group Kontrakultur Halle has done it again: After their “AfD Song” which rose to 400,000 views on YouTube, Melanie Halle and her pianist Till have decided to continue the project.

Under the name Varieté Identitaire they will henceforward publish political chansons referencing the events in our daily political life.

This charming video was prepared in the style of the golden ’20s. The content isn’t just cheap agitprop, but homemade music with an original written text. Both artists are activists in the Identity Movement in Halle.

With the new song “à jamais idealiste — a greeting to the intelligence service”, we get a musical reckoning with the intelligence service, which rightfully should be asked why peaceful patriots are under surveillance while Islamic terrorists can roam uncontrolled through our country or, even plan their attacks under the eyes of the Constitution Protection Service.

PI took this text from the Facebook page “One percent for our country”, EINPROZENT.DE — “One percent is enough to change Germany”.

Will the Jihad Weaponize the German Chemical Industry?

The following video report from Die Welt describes the warnings given by German security services about a potential chemical attack, especially via the water supply, by Islamic terrorists. Germany’s vast chemical industry is seen as a source of highly toxic substances that could be weaponized by various means against German targets.

Federal Criminal Police Office and Interior Ministry: Do Islamists plan a chemical attack on drinking water?

January 24, 2017

Islamistically-oriented perpetrators are apparently willing to acquire and employ larger quantities of chemicals. According to information received by Bild, this is what a risk analysis by the Federal Criminal Police Office and Interior Ministry says.

The summary from FOCUS Online:

According to a report by Bild, the Federal Government and Federal Criminal Police (BKA) warn of the danger of possible terror attacks with chemicals.

This is what the paper reported on Tuesday, referring to a “risk analysis in Civil Protection” by the Federal Government. According to the study, perpetrators motivated by Islamism were ready and capable “of acquiring larger quantities of chemicals and employing these”, BKA writes in the paper, which was made available to the newspaper.

A chemical attack on the drinking water supply of apartment buildings is seen as a “realistic option”, or on foodstuffs. Also, possible attacks against facilities or transports for the chemical industry had “a high-risk potential”.

According to this government report, a “determined terrorist group, equipped with adequate knowledge, should be in the position to peruse the potential of hazardous chemical substances sufficient for their purposes for use in an attack in Germany.”

Faith, Hope And…

JLH has taken a break from translating German to compose this essay about Christianity in America.

Faith, Hope And…

by JLH

I am not sure that St. Paul did us any favor when he wrote in the 13th chapter of his immortal first letter to the Corinthians, praising the quality of charity:

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away…
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Later linguists disliked “charity” as much as they disliked “through a glass darkly” and chose to substitute “love” for the King James word. Not love in the sense of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton (or if you prefer, Beyoncé and Jay-Z) but in the sense of (the outmoded, sexist and non-PC term) “love of fellow Man.” To the young, naive and inquiring mind, this posed just as many difficulties as its predecessor. But let us just assume that “love” is “charity” and vice versa. The formulation remains that there are three important qualities: faith, hope and love/charity.

I approach this summary of lasting values as a key to the differential unfolding of events in the Western World. At one time, Christians were persecuted and endangered, sometimes horrifically killed (or maybe I shouldn’t be so quick to use the past tense). Singly and in groups, they survived the empires and kingdoms of the ancient world, and lived to see their religion become a massive theocratic structure.

The Black Plague spread death and horror across Europe, shaking reliance on civic or religious authority. Crusaders returned from the Near East bringing a renewed interest in the wisdom and art of the ancient world. And the subjects and servants of a monolithic religious edifice watched as an independent-minded (some will say wayward) son of the Church created a crack in its battlements by nailing 95 theses to a church door. Now, instead of being persecuted by their own Church for being different-minded, Christians went to war against each other for the same reason. Rather than e pluribus unum, it was: out of one, many.

After a long slumber, there was a great awakening to the joys of art and music; and after the somnolence of enforced apathy, there was a sudden jolt of passion for religious partisanship. The leavening for this rising of unbridled spontaneity was provided by the Age of Enlightenment (die Aufklärung, le Siècle des lumières), also called the Age of Reason. It is striking to me that German and Austrian writers, among others, repeatedly emphasize the Enlightenment as the touchstone of European civilization. Displacing the so-called Judaeo-Christian heritage, deism and humanism have become the bedrock of Western civilization. Through reason and wisdom, humanity will inexorably improve, and without the help of an attending God. The future is within us.

This optimism about the future of humanity I am inclined to identify with the second of the deathless qualities named by Paul: Hope. And that is how I interpret the repeated references to the Enlightenment — as a pious hope that reason, civility, refinement and humanism will win out over the recent, crass interlopers.

Disciples of the Enlightenment were not only French, English, Scottish and German. They also included prominent Americans such as Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. But there is a difference in how we refer to them. Historians record that the Founders were men of the Enlightenment, but present-day discussions of creeping Islamization and sharia law do not emphasize this. Rather, they tend to emphasize either “American exceptionalism” or Christianity. If America is both Christian and exceptional, does this somehow define us? And if so, how is Christianity here different from the Christianity of the Old World?

FGM in Germany: A 30% Increase in Less Than Two Years

As might be expected, the incidence of female genital mutilation (FGM) has increased dramatically in Germany since the current migration wave began two years ago.

Many thanks to Egri Nök for translating this article from Pharmazeutische Zeitung Online:

Genital Mutilation: Almost 50,000 victims in Germany

There are approximately 47,300 victims of female genital mutilation living in Germany. This emerges from the first survey of the national prevalence of the phenomenon, introduced by the Federal Ministry for Families today. The 6th of February is an action day for the United Nations and several rescue organizations opposing the practice, which is widespread mainly in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, but also in Indonesia in Southeast Asia. In the process of being mutilated, often girls as under five years old have their outer genitalia cut. The clitoris and labia are amputated and partially sewn closed. Millions of women experience severe trauma during this procedure, as well later on during intercourse and giving birth. While the circumcision of boys may be justified for the purposes of better hygiene and the prevention of ailments, there are no medical arguments at all for cutting the genitals of girls.

According to the study, the number of women affected in Germany rose by 30 percent from end of 2014 through mid-2016 because of immigration from states where this cruel tradition is practiced.

“Female genital mutilation is a severe violation of human rights. It causes inconceivable physical torture and mental suffering,” explains the Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry for Families, Ralf Kleindiek.

According to the study, in this country between 1,558 and 5,684 daughters of migrants are at the risk of genital mutilation. Under German law, this ordeal is also punishable when carried out abroad. Because parents had been submitting their daughters to a “holiday cutting” in their native country to avoid the law, the federal government in December of 2016 implemented a change in the passport law. In future, the passports of persons who travel abroad for a genital mutilation of a girl or woman can be revoked.

Meanwhile, progress can be seen in the worldwide battle against female genital mutilation. Today the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Geneva reports that regions and villages inhabited by a total of 8.5 million people publicly made the commitment in the past year to stop the cruel practice.

What Happens When the Antifas Acquire Automatic Weapons?

Like most of the American geezers among Gates of Vienna’s readers, I can remember the “revolutionary” phase of the 1960s. It lasted from 1968 — the year of revolutions throughout the West — until about 1972. It petered out after Richard Nixon’s re-election, and the president’s resignation in 1974 provided a coda.

There was plenty of violence in those times — street riots, bombings, assassinations and attempted assassinations, the killing of police — but it seems to me that all that pales in comparison to what’s been going on in the USA for the last couple of years. Back then the violence never reached the well-organized intensity that the Antifas and BLM troops have been displaying recently. And the incidence of brutal action for its own sake — “revolution for the hell of it”, as Abbie Hoffman put it — seems to be more widespread these days.

For a few days after the November 8 election, mass demonstrations against the president-elect were organized in major cities. Most of you have probably seen videos of the miles-long ranks of parked buses in Chicago that carried the protesters to their mustering areas, and hauled them away again afterwards.

That was an expensive operation — it cost a lot of money to charter those buses and hire the drivers. And there were undoubtedly provisions for the demonstrators, plus printed signs and other paraphernalia. Someone paid for all that.

Which raises an obvious question: What if one or more of those deep-pocketed someones decided to forget the buses and snowflake signs, and instead started buying up automatic weapons from the cartels and handing them to the black-masked thugs of Antifa?

It would become a different sort of civil war at that point. And it wouldn’t be at all like the Civil War of 1861-1865, which was actually a sectional war between two distinct and geographically separate political entities. We haven’t seen this sort of civil war in the United States before. In order to get an idea of what it might be like, we’d have to look at the “Dirty War” in Argentina in the 1970s. Or maybe the war between the Freikorps and the Communists on the streets of Berlin and Munich in 1919 and 1920.

Mountain Guerrilla is a blog run by a man who goes by the nom de guerre of John Mosby. His post today, entitled “Skull-Stomping Sacred Cows: Reality Isn’t Nice. It’s a 2×4 to the Teeth”, discusses the emergence of a “hot” civil war at the hands of the black-masked progressives who have up until now been throwing firebombs, breaking plate-glass windows, and beating up supporters of Donald Trump. As far as he is concerned, the war has gotten pretty toasty already. Will the next phase be the emergence of disciplined Antifas carrying AK-47s to their street battles?

Mosby’s post is rife with non-PG language, so the brief excerpts below are just relevant segments that didn’t require much bowdlerizing. I recommend the entire piece — it provides much food for thought:

While not technically accurate, Fort Sumter was the first “official” battle of the War of Northern Aggression. It was the real opening of hostilities between the uniformed services of two distinct, autonomous governments. In the current conflict, the legitimate government of the United States is, at most, a bit player, thus far. The War of Northern Aggression, while labeled a civil war, was not. It was a conflict of conquest by a sovereign state, against a sovereign state, that had declared its independence, and been recognized as a sovereign state, in accordance with international law. None of that mattered of course, but the difference with the current conflict should be obvious.

This is an actual civil war, as in a conflict between ideologically-opposed factions within the civilian and political population of a country. Like real civil wars, it is not going to be pretty. It’s not going to be armies, in pretty uniforms, fighting pitched, conventional battles. It’s going to be a matter of assassination, sabotage, hit-and-run raids, targeting ideological leadership figures, enemy families, etc.

As Matt Bracken pointed out in a recent Facebook post himself, we’re looking at more of a Balkans and/or Argentine “Dirty War” conflict. People just haven’t accepted that, because it doesn’t fit their mental images of what “war,” even “guerrilla war” looks like. That, in turn, is because, even the most devout conversions to the “Church of the Anti-Media” in this country today, have a lifetime of conditioning to the media’s portrayal of what “reality” is. From what a “proper” war looks like, to what “collapse” looks like, to what “bad guys” look like.

We commonly jump to the idea of “well, George Soros is funding this [excrement], so it’ll cause a breakdown, and currency collapse, and he can make a fortune off it.” There’s probably a lot of truth to that. I don’t know Soros, so I can’t tell you what his ultimate goals and motivations are. I have however, met a lot of Leftists, both in the US and elsewhere, and I can tell you, they are not looking for a currency collapse, in order to get richer.

It’s easy to sit in your lounger, with your laptop across your knees, and pontificate on the false motivations of the Leftist activists. “Oh, they’re just attention whores!” “Oh, they just want their safe spaces!” “Oh, they’re just useful idiots being played.” “Oh, they’ll quit as soon as the money stops.” There’s a very real problem with that though, and it’s called underestimating your enemy. If you don’t believe that a dude who is out, in wintertime, in a protest/riot, and eating some riot cop’s baton, as he receives a solid washing with “hickory shampoo,” is not a dedicated True Believer, you’re deluding yourself.

If you think that some twenty-something kid, who just saw his buddy take a bean bag round from a PD riot gun, in the [genitals], and then ignored his friend’s screams, to continue advancing, is not dedicated, and a True Believer, you’re [vulgar intensifier] stupid.

If you think POTUS is going to magically save you? You’re dumb. Large urban areas and entire states are telling the federal government to go [perform an anatomically impossible act upon] itself on the immigration issue (and granted, the states are wrong on this one, but that doesn’t change the fact that this—as I mentioned, in detail, in Forging the Hero—is symptomatic of the collapse of the American Empire.) Things are not normal, and if you’re still stuck in your normalcy bias about “Make America Great Again,” you’re WAY behind the learning the curve.

And then there’s this:
