Biden: US Banking System Secure, Even as Two Banks Collapse

U.S. bank stocks fell on Monday even as President Joe Biden assured Americans that the U.S. banking system was secure and that taxpayers would not bail out investors at two banks that collapsed.

“Americans can have confidence the banking system is safe. Your deposits are safe,” Biden said in a five-minute statement delivered at the White House as businesses opened for the work week.

He said that all customers at the California-based Silicon Valley Bank and the New York-based Signature Bank would have immediate access to their deposits as federal financial officials take control of their operations.

“No losses will be borne by taxpayers,” Biden declared. “Managers of these banks will be fired. Investors in these banks will not be protected.”

He said customers’ deposits will be covered by funds banks routinely pay into a U.S. government-held account for such emergencies.

He vowed, “We must get a full accounting of what happened” at the two banks.

Despite the assurances, U.S. banks lost about $90 billion in stock market value on Monday as investors feared additional bank failures. The biggest losses came from midsize banks, of the size of Silicon Valley Bank.

According to Heatmap News, a managing director at climate change venture capital firm Prelude Ventures, Gabriel Kra, said, “Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) was an integral part of the early-stage climate tech community and I hope that they survive in some form to continue that role.”

Latest Bank to Collapse is Same One That Closed Trump’s Accounts After Jan 6th

A third U.S. bank has failed in the space of a week, and this time its the same one that closed President Trump’s accounts two years ago, reasoning that it would not do business with Trump after January 6th.

Signature bank in New York was shut down by US regulators on Sunday, according to a joint statement from the Federal Reserve, US Treasury and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), noting that the lender “was closed by its state chartering authority.”

It comes after SVB bank and California-based crypto-focused Silvergate also failed.

The statement further notes that “[SVB] depositors will have access to all of their money starting Monday, March 13… We are announcing a similar systemic risk exception for Signature Bank… all depositors of this institution will be made whole. As with the resolution of Silicon Valley Bank, no losses will be borne by the taxpayer.”

Analysts were quick to point out that Signature severed lending to Trump and called for the then President to resign in January 2021.

Stock Market’s Major Indices Mixed Amid SVB Uncertainties, Bank Trading Halts

The stock market’s major indices posted mixed results on Monday amid lingering uncertainty after the collapse of several regional banks and doubts about the planned federal intervention to avert a financial crisis.

The DOW Jones Industrial Average finished down by 0.28%, coming in at 31,819.14. The index opened down from its previous close before rising on confidence the Treasury’s plans, though that bounce again reversed.

The S&P 500, meanwhile, enjoyed a marginally more stable trading session but still closed at 3,855.76, down 0.15%, while the Nasdaq posted a modest gain of 0.45%, closing at 11,188.84.

Exchanges halted trading of several bank stocks amid volatility concerns in the aftermath of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank’s failings on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The trade halts of potentially volatile stocks may have served to boost the overall market’s final numbers on Monday.

Maher continued on to say that he believes liberals “make a real effort not to understand the Trump voter. St. Louis Homicide Detective Blows Whistle on Soros-Backed DA’s ‘Concerted Effort to Break Down the System’

A former St. Louis homicide detective and 26-year veteran on the force, said a George Soros-backed district attorney, Kimberly Gardner, placed him on an infamous “exclusion list,” which bars officers from being involved in crucial portions of criminal justice proceedings.

As an excluded officer, Murphey would have to ask other officers to file his paperwork to Gardner’s office — such as arrest and search warrants, as well as grand jury subpoenas, he said.

Murphey said he left law enforcement for his own sanity. He added that he would not recommend young people become officers. “It’s not worth it,” he said.

United Flight Sparks Massive Response in Vermont After Disturbing Note Found in Bathroom

A United Airlines flight from New Jersey to Vermont sparked a massive emergency response Sunday after a disturbing note was found inside a bathroom.

Flight 3613 took off from Newark Airport at 3:14 p.m. with 65 passengers for a flight to Burlington International Airport, but 20 minutes before landing, the pilot was notified of a threat, WPTZ reported.

Authorities have not described the nature of the threat, but a passenger on the flight told the outlet that “someone left a note.”

The pilot notified air traffic control and a massive emergency response was launched at the airport, which was closed for several hours after the plane landed about 4:30 p.m. and was taken to an isolated spot on the tarmac.

Responding agencies included the Vermont State Police Bomb Squad, local police, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.

Passengers told WPTZ that they were given limited information as they sat on the plane for about two hours before being allowed to get off.

K-9 units were brought aboard around 6:30 p.m. to sweep the cabin, the travelers said.

Once the plane was cleared, they were allowed to leave the aircraft, but without any of their belongings.

YouTuber is Forced to Pay $38K in Attorneys’ Fees After Censorship Lawsuit Fails

YouTuber Marshall Daniels, who posts content under the pseudonym “Young Pharaoh,” was ordered by a court to pay $38,576 in attorney fees to YouTube for filing a lawsuit that the court said “lacked merit.”

The court ruled that his complaint “clearly lacked merit and was frivolous from the outset.”

Daniels, who filed the complaint in 2020, claimed that he was the victim of “reverse censorship.” He filed the complaint after two of his videos were removed and his account demonetized. One of the videos criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci while the other criticized the George Floyd protests.

According to Daniels, the videos were removed because of political pressure, not for violating the platform’s guidelines.

Fewer Swedes Call Themselves Liberals, Feminists as More Switch to Conservatism

Fewer Swedish voters see themselves as liberals now compared to a year ago, a survey made by pollster Ipsos on behalf of Swedish media has shown.

A year ago, 31 percent of Swedish voters called themselves liberals, a figure that has now dropped to merely 26 percent.

The development is particularly clear among the ruling Moderates’ voters, signaling a change of heart. In a single year, the percentage of self-professed liberals has fallen from 46 to 35 percent. At the same time, the proportion of Moderate voters who call themselves conservatives has increased to a corresponding degree, signaling that the party is returning to its roots, as it has long been the largest right-of-center force in the Nordic country.

‘It’s Not Our War’ — Polish Football Fans Punished for Displaying Anti-War Banner

On March 1, the league’s governing body decided to fine the club 15,000 PLN as punishment for the fans’ behavior. It argued that the fine was appropriate, as this was not the first time a banner of this kind had appeared. Tusk Wants to End Teaching Religion in Schools as Controversy Over John Paul II Mounts

Donald Tusk, the leader of the largest opposition party, the liberal Civic Platform (PO), told a public meeting in western Poland that he favored removing religious teaching from schools in Poland, as the topic is alienating the young and doing more harm than good for the Catholic Church.

Tusk said he is a Catholic who when young was taught religion in classes organized outside of school by the church. He claimed he is lucky that he never experienced any sexual abuse from priests, and that the church in those days was different from today’s, which he called “a giant corporation, profit-oriented and lacking interest in preaching the gospel.” He argued the teaching of religion in schools had become a way for the Church to make money and that the Church was undermining itself when clerics such as Archbishop Marek Jedraszewski call LGBT a “rainbow plague” (in fact, Jedraszewski was referring to LGBT ideology and not people).

UK Boosts Defense Spending in Response to Russia, China

LONDON — U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pledged Monday to increase military funding by 5 billion pounds ($6 billion) over the next two years in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the “epoch-defining challenge” posed by China.

The increase, part of a major update to U.K. foreign and defense policy, is less than military officials wanted. Sunak said the U.K. would increase military spending to 2.5% of gross domestic product “in the longer term,” but didn’t set a date. Britain currently spends just over 2% of GDP on defense, and military chiefs want it to rise to 3%.

The extra money will be used, in part, to replenish Britain’s ammunition stocks, depleted from supplying Ukraine in its defense against Russia. Some will also go toward a U.K.-U.S.-Australia deal to build nuclear-powered submarines.

Nord Stream Sabotage Theory Pushed by US and Germany Has Major Holes

After the Seymour Hersh published his detailed report alleging the U.S. was behind the attack on the German-Russian Nord Stream pipelines, it marked a major turning point in the war in terms of public perception. There had long been rumblings that the U.S. was behind the attack for various reasons, but now here was a concrete report from one of the premier investigative journalists in the world claiming a NATO country had attacked the critical infrastructure of another NATO ally. The story was explosive.

Hersh’s report also led to a serious foreign policy crisis behind the scenes. While the U.S. denied it was behind the attack, when German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Washington to meet President Joe Biden earlier this month, they were careful to field no questions from reporters. After all, how would they avoid having to answer the inevitable queries about whether the U.S. did in fact orchestrate the sabotage.

An investigation by The BMJ found that more and more young people in the US are being offered medical and surgical sex change interventions, sometimes bypassing psychological assessment and counselling, said BMJ Editor-in-Chief Kamran Abbasi in an article published March 9.

  1. SWEDEN – as they change to an islamic country and islamic population voters will become far right “death penalty for everything” conservatives. Who didn’t see that coming? Such morons these liberals importing people who have completely opposite views to them. Politics/democracy is a numbers game and its a “bitch” when you are stupid enough to bring voters in for the other side. Happens in the US and Australia too. That’s why it is unlikely we will ever see a conservative government in Victoria (AUS) again as the mass migration we have had does not match those values. That’s why there is no future in this state and I tell people to leave if they can.
