Bed, Bath and Beyond Closing Over 100 More Stores Even as it Secures Major Capital Backer

Home goods retailer Bed, Bath & Beyond this week announced the closure of dozens more stores around the country even as the embattled corporation managed to find a last-ditch capital backer to help prop up its cratering finances.

The company, whose retail outlets were popular from the late 1990s through the 2010s, announced this week that it had secured a major cash infusion through an unnamed investment firm, which insiders reported was Hudson Bay Capital Management.

The move, which was accompanied by a public stock offering as part of a desperate $1 billion fundraising gambit, is seen as a long-shot attempt to hold off a bankruptcy filing for the struggling retailer.

Still, the company announced the closure of 150 stores this week in several states, with the company having shuttered nearly 400 stores since last year in an effort to cut costs.

Poland Destined for Soft Landing With Inflation Falling Below 10% This Year, Says Head of Polish Development Fund

The CEO, who is one of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s most trusted allies, said that the prospects for the Polish economy are sound. He thinks that the climate for investment is therefore positive. He argues that the worst is over for Poland.

Biden Blames Poor Office Pack-Up Job for Document Scandal

President Joe Biden on Wednesday blamed his classified document scandal on a lack of thoroughness by his staffers when packing up his old offices.

“One of the things that happened is that what was not done well is, as they packed up my offices to move them, they didn’t do the kind of job that should have been done, to go thoroughly through every single piece of literature that’s there,” he told PBS News Hour, per The Hill. “To the best of my knowledge, the kind of things they picked up are things, they’re from 1974, stray papers. Breaking: Trump Slams Biden for Being the Most Corrupt President in US History in SOTU Response

President Donald Trump offered his response to Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night in a brief video taking aim at Biden’s failures as president and his own promise of a better future under his leadership.

“Here’s the real state of the union,” Trump said. “Over the past two years under Biden, millions and millions of illegal aliens from 160 different countries have stormed across our southern border.”

“Drug cartels are now raking in billions of dollars from smuggling poison to kill our people and to kill our children. Savage killers, rapists and violent criminals are being released from jail to continue their crime wave, and under Biden the murder rate has reached the highest in the history of our country,” Trump said.

His plan for the cartels is to order the US military to declare cartels as enemy combatants if he were to be reelected president. Trump would deploy the Navy and Special Forces to defend the security of the Western hemisphere.

“Biden and the radical Democrats have wasted trillions of dollars and caused the worst inflation in half a century. Real wages are down 21 months in a row. Gas prices have soared and are now going up much higher than even before and the typical American family is paying $2,200 in increased energy and food costs each year,” he said.

Biden stood before Congress, the body in which he spent the vast majority of his career, to mass applause from the assembled lawmakers, officials and guests, as Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy sat behind him. McCarthy, too, received a standing ovation from many in Congress, though the First Lady, in her box, did not stand.

New York Post had this alleged information and was trying to publish it without any corroboration, without any backup information. Breaking: Biden Lied About Nord Stream Sabotage, US Did it With Help From Norway: Report

The Biden administration had been intending to take out the Nord Stream pipeline since December 2021. This was two months before Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, while Putin was amassing troops on the border.

It was “the first of a series of top-secret meetings,” reports Seymour Hersh, and it was here that the crucial question was asked by the president’s advisors, which was if they should recommend further economic sanctions to Biden, or something irreversible.

It was Jake Sullivan, Hersh reports, according to a source, who intended to concoct a plan to destroy two of the Nord Stream pipelines, known collectively as Nord Stream 1, that were delivering natural gas from Russia to Europe, and to recommend that course of action to the president.

Many plans and schemes as to how to go about this were entertained, but as they developed, the winning plan involved the use of deep-sea Navy divers, divers who were not part of any special forces units, as the use of those units had to be cleared by Congress and plans briefed to the Gang of Eight. This was not something Sullivan wanted to do.

House Passes Measure to End COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements for Foreign Travelers

The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed legislation to end the requirement that most foreign travelers arriving in the United States be vaccinated for COVID-19.

Thomas Massie introduced the measure, which would also bar the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from imposing a similar restriction in the future.

Fellow Kentucky GOP Rep. Brett Guthrie said retaining the requirement would keep the U.S. “out of touch with the rest of the world” and that ending the mandate would “align the United States with the rest of North America’s COVID-19 vaccine policy,” per the outlet.

Johnston Schools Facing First Amendment Lawsuit Over Student’s Shirt

JOHNSTON, Iowa — The Johnston Community School District is facing a lawsuit from a student who was kicked out of class and suspended, for wearing a shirt depicting a rifle and a quote from the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The lawsuit, filed Monday, lists the plaintiff as A.B., by her next friend Janet Bristow. Bristow is the mother of the minor student who wore the shirt to school on September 1, 2022.

According to the complaint, A.B. wore the shirt two days after a discussion on students’ free speech rights in her high-school government class. During that class, A.B. alleged teacher Tom Griffin told students their rights to free speech were “extremely limited” while on school property. He also reportedly told students he would decide what speech was acceptable in the classroom, and wouldn’t allow students to wear clothing that depicts guns, alcohol, or other “inappropriate material.”

The complaint said A.B. knew Griffin was wrong about the scope of the First Amendment and that’s why she wore the shirt, which said “What part of ‘shall not be infringed’ do you not understand?” A depiction of a rifle is below the text on the shirt.

Thousands of cases of sextortion — in which a minor is tricked into sending explicit photos or videos and then threatened with release of the material unless they send money or more photos — were reported worldwide in 2022, according to FBI statistics.

In Jacksonville last week, a man told police he was being exploited after being solicited to send lewd images to someone over social media. The man said the person who received the photos then threatened to distribute them to others unless the victim sent money.

Telehealth Companies Face Investigation for Sharing Data With Facebook

Research and reports about the way telehealth companies track and monetize people’s sensitive data have spurred a bipartisan group of senators to action.

The investigation was carried out by STAT, revealing that a number of telehealth firms give health information to ad giants like Google and Facebook, among others.

The results, published under the title, “Out of Control,” showed that out of 50 telehealth sites, only one was not sharing patient data using tracking tools provided by Big Tech behemoths.

Now Democrats Amy Klobuchar and Maria Cantwell, and Republicans Susan Collins and Cynthia Lummis want three of those companies — Monument, Workit Health, and Cerebral — to provide further information about the data deals.

The UFO Craze is a Chinese Spy Balloon Crisis

by Daniel Greenfield

2022 was a banner year for UFO nuts. And for Chinese spying on America.

The Biden administration, following in the footsteps of the Carter and Clinton administrations, had an interest in flying saucers. Conspiracy theorists embraced the release of Pentagon reports about UFOs, but the real conspiracy was down to earth and hiding in plain sight.

Last month, the Director of National Intelligence released a report on “unidentified aerial phenomena”, especially those in “restricted or sensitive airspace”. The report characterized 26 reports as “Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)” and 163 as “balloon or balloon-like entities.”

We didn’t have a plague of UFOs, but a massive Chinese aerial surveillance operation. We now know that Chinese spy balloons had previously targeted Navy facilities in Guam and Hawaii.

Democrats and their media had no interest in the balloons or UAS systems showing up in sensitive airspace. And the UFO nuts they allied with gleefully dismissed “weather balloons” as a military cover-up for flying saucers. But it was the UFOs that were the real cover-up.

When a Montana resident captured the first video of the Chinese spy balloon, he first thought it was a UFO. The Biden administration, which had been aware of the balloon all along, kept it secret until videos and photos by Montana residents forced their hand. For the first time, top officials had to go on record about Chinese spy balloons and to even shoot one of them down…

White House Says Blog Post on Nord Stream Explosion ‘Utterly False’

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — The White House on Wednesday dismissed a blog post by a U.S. investigative journalist alleging the United States was behind explosions of the Nord Stream gas pipelines as “utterly false and complete fiction.”

Reuters has not corroborated the report, published by U.S. investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, which said an attack was carried out at the direction of President Joe Biden.

“This is utterly false and complete fiction,” said Adrienne Watson, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council. A State Department spokesperson said the same.

The pipelines are multibillion-dollar infrastructure projects designed to carry Russian gas to Germany under the Baltic Sea.

Sweden and Denmark, in whose waters the blasts occurred, have both concluded the pipelines were blown up deliberately, but have not said who might be responsible.

The United States and NATO have called the incident “an act of sabotage.” Moscow has blamed the West for the unexplained explosions that caused the ruptures, without providing evidence.

Addressing UK Parliament, Zelensky Thanks Country ‘In Advance’ For Warplanes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the British Parliament Wednesday afternoon, expressing his view on military alliances in terms of equipment transfers, and thanking the United Kingdom “in advance” for the gift of its warplanes.

The speaker of the British House of Commons was presented with a signed combat pilot’s helmet by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday afternoon, saying the gift should act as a symbol to help get Western warplanes donated to the Ukrainian war effort. Indicating, perhaps, that he now considers getting British fighter jets is now a fait accompli Zelensky said in his address to the UK Parliament that he was “thanking all of you —in advance — for powerful English planes”.

Germany: ‘Last Generation’ Climate Protesters Miss Court Date Because They Flew to Bali

Two climate activists who blocked traffic in the German city of Stuttgart earlier this year missed their court date because they flew to Bali and Indonesia, for a round trip of 23,000 kilometers producing 7.9 tons of CO2 emissions.

In September 2022, Yannick S. and his girlfriend Luisa S., both members of the Last Generation activist group, blocked commuter traffic in Stuttgart. The two were cited by police, but when their court date arrived, it was revealed that neither could attend because they were on the other side of the planet on vacation.

The two climate activists are now being held up as an example of the hypocrisy of many such activists who come from wealthy families that can afford the type of backpacking trip typical of this social class. At the same time, many of these same individuals have blockaded airports, arguing that airplanes are responsible for a significant amount of CO2 emissions and are only available to the “wealthy” percentage of the population.

UK Government Disincentivising Poor People From Getting Married Through Benefits System: Report

Welfare handouts are harming marriage in the United Kingdom by creating perverse incentives that see the less-well-off get more benefits by having children out of wedlock, while wealthier couples who don’t rely on state aid are twice as likely to be married before having children, a foundation has claimed.

The UK government’s policy of favouring single people, in which parents who live alone have greater entitlements to receive welfare and other state benefits, has resulted in only a small minority of children born to the poorest parents raised in two-parent households, a report from the Marriage Foundation has found. Conversely, children born to wealthier parents are privileged even further, as such households can afford to withstand anti-family policies and become married before having children, therefore giving them the ability to raise their children in a more positive environment to foster functioning members of society.

Polish General Warns That Zelensky Has Nuclear Weapon

Apparently it’s no longer just about tanks and fighter jets for Ukraine: According to Polish General Waldemar Skrzyptzak (67), the government in Kiev is said to have nuclear weapons once again. Other experts believe that even if they do not have such a weapon now, they’ll have one soon.

In an interview, one of Poland’s best-known military officers gave an analysis of where Europe might be headed in the war in Ukraine: General Waldemar Skrzyptzak said in an interview with radio station Wnet that President Zelensky’s government probably already has nuclear weapons.

This was not absurd, explained the general: “Ukraine has officially had no nuclear weapons since the early 1990s, when it agreed to hand them over to Russia under international agreements. Now the reality could be very different.”

The General concluded: “I do not rule out that Ukraine has nuclear weapons, because Ukrainians have nuclear power plants, scientists, laboratories and know-how. So you have everything to own such a weapon. In fact, as of today, no one will forbid Ukrainians from doing it.”

Why Zelenskyy Visited the U.K. Nearly 1 Year Into Russia’s War on Ukraine

LONDON — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a surprise visit to the United Kingdom, one of his very rare trips outside Ukraine since Russia invaded the country nearly one year ago.

A few years ago no one was allowed to question Swedish immigration, now Sweden wants to put the military in gang conflicts with automatic weapons and bombs.
Sweden’s police chief warns that crime in Sweden is alarmingly high – imagine if we had dared to talk about it several years ago, writes Paulina Neuding.

“So this is the situation in the country, where just four years ago, Social Democratic Prime Minister Stefan Löfven repeated, ‘We didn’t see it coming’, about gang crime, and claimed that there was no link between gang violence and immigration,” writes Neuding.

“The crime trend we are now seeing in Sweden is exceptional, incredibly serious and at a level we have never seen before in Sweden.”

That’s what Anders Thornberg, head of the National Police, and several of the country’s top police chiefs wrote in an opinion piece in Dagens Nyheter this weekend.

At the same time, the capital is still plagued by a wave of violence that has been going on since just before the New Year. Of 35 shootings in January, 17 took place in Stockholm. Three of them were fatal.

It is not just the violence itself that is shocking. The Swedish social debate is also unrecognisable.

About ten years ago, I had the opportunity to interview a number of prominent politicians and I made sure to ask a question that I felt was missing from a serious debate in Sweden: how immigration had affected crime and what the consequences of immigration policy should be.

The trend towards growing parallel societies, where crime was a feature of everyday life, was already underway at the time.

But the answers I received confirmed above all that the issue was indeed taboo.

I particularly remember how Sweden’s then bourgeois Minister of Justice, Beatrice Ask of the Moderates, first tried to play it down by saying that we should be glad that people wanted to come to a country with such bad weather. When I insisted, the minister responded with moral indignation, as if the issue was beyond all decency.

It was like a trip down the corridor of opinion.

There are few traces of this zeitgeist in the current wave of violence.

At the moment, there is no talk of safeguarding “Sweden’s image”, Sweden’s image as the great humanitarian power in contrast to a limited and prejudiced Denmark.

Denmark is now being held up, with a certain obviousness, as a role model in the debate on law enforcement.

But it has come too late.

This weekend’s opinion piece from the police leadership contains descriptions of situations that would have seemed dystopian not so long ago.

Crime has “created a historically high burden” on the authorities, the police directorate writes.

“Prosecutors, witnesses and offenders who previously spoke to the police and testified in court almost never provide information now.”

    “Children commit serious violent crimes.”

And all this despite the fact that “police and prosecutors have never before arrested so many – detention centres and prisons are overcrowded.”

That we are dealing with a crime of historic proportions is something that most Swedes have probably realised just by following the news.

An investigation by SVT has shown that, on average, there were bomb explosions every other day in January 2023. More than 450 people, including 70 children, live in the stairwells that have been subjected to bomb attacks in the first month of the year alone. One of them, a mother, told SVT that she woke up to a loud bang.

“The police shouted: ‘It’s a bomb, stay inside – go back’ Then came the terror that I had to protect my child.”

So this is the situation in the country where Social Democratic Prime Minister Stefan Löfven repeated his mission just four years ago: ‘We didn’t see it coming’ about gang crime, claiming there was no link between gang violence and immigration.

But this is a situation that the Swedish left and right together have led us into.

Löfven’s predecessor as prime minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt of the Moderates, claimed as recently as 2014 in an interview with the Danish newspaper Politiken that Sweden could safely continue its immigration policy:

“I often fly around the Swedish countryside and I recommend others to do so. There are endless fields and forests.

There is as much space as you can imagine. Those who claim the country is full need to show where it is full.”

What happened on the ground in the country that Reinfeldt flew over was best not to ask the wrong questions about, unless you wanted someone to question your decency.

The new bourgeois government is now opening up the possibility of using the armed forces in the fight against crime. The Minister of Justice is no longer Beatrice Ask, but Gunnar Strömmer from the same party. He announced last week that there are no concrete proposals on the table yet, but that the government is currently discussing how the armed forces could assist the police.

It is time and natural to explore this opportunity. The police are clearly unable to cope with the burden of criminal gangs. Moreover, there is an escalation with military weapons.

But does Sweden really need to consider deploying the military in conflicts where gangs in ghettos are fighting each other with automatic weapons and bombs? Imagine if we had had a functioning public dialogue on this from the start.

  2. “Europe’s welfare states will soon be a thing of the past”

    video: https://rumble.com/v28sg32-nyhetsveckan-special-41-gonzalo-lira-are-we-heading-for-ww3.html

Everybody knows it, primarily the military. The loss ratio between the Ukrainian and Russian armies is about 8:1, with the Ukrainians having lost 125,000 soldiers and the Russians 20,000. In addition, Ukraine’s population has halved due to emigration to the EU, the US and Russia from 40 to 20 million people. The big question now is how the war will end, not that it will be soon or that Russia will win, although they have had to change tactics from their original small expeditionary force.

Here’s a correction to the tragi-comic propaganda* that the Western media fills us with. that will interest you.

Gonzalo Lira was born in the United States, of Chilean descent, and now lives in Kharkov, Ukraine, where he has family. He has an honorary doctorate in history and philosophy from Dartmouth College, speaks Ukrainian and Russian, and is well versed in the circumstances, not least the war.

He is currently imprisoned by the Zelinsky regime, which believes him to be a Russian spy, so he has some restrictions on his freedom of expression while his case is being considered. It is not wrong.

He is an independent observer, unlike our media, journalists and political class, whose policies and lies are sending Europeans into long-term poverty. Needless to say, he does not give much for them, especially not Angela Merkel, and he does not do it in painful language.

He also believes that this is a proxy war between the US and Russia, that Europe is behaving like American vassal states and that the war is a knife in the heart of Europe.

First and foremost on the welfare states, which are rapidly being impoverished within five years. We will feel this in Denmark too, and we will not thank the EU in particular for its political idiocy, detachment from the people, selfishness and indifference to our welfare.

And how do Europeans think millions of European immigrants with no cultural background will behave when they themselves feel what the ‘land of milk and honey’ has become? There will be violent riots. He describes this vividly, as well as many other analyzes and scenarios for the course and outcome of the war. Very watchable.

Lira believes that the Western media has degenerated into propaganda to such an extent that it has lost so many customers and advertisers since the advent of the net that it is all dependent on the state, and in the US on giant corporations – for example, in the pharmaceutical industry. Their own survival is now much more important to them than the truth.
That is why today we read state propaganda and everything that is political priorities in them. Most people who read the news at all read the headlines and the first three lines and then believe it.

I think he is right. That is why the most important thing for a media user today is not to believe a word of what is written and broadcast in advance until it is confirmed by another, trustworthy source. This is our media climate now, not much better than that of the GDR, and it is populated by “journalists” who have allowed themselves to be degraded into prostitutes – Lira’s term.

Therefore, truth-seekers have to settle for the likes of me (us). We may be wrong, but at least we don’t do it on purpose and for money, and today I can boast that I was much more right about Sweden than I ever thought. Or the idiots who declared me an idiot over twenty years ago. Politiken [paper], for example, and their daydreaming circle of youthful idylls.
    Europe’s bloody battles are planted

    • I found a meme on the internet some time ago, I believe westernrifleshooters, where a full food aisle in a supermarket was shown and below an empty supermarket food aisle.
The upper picture had the line “This is an anomaly” and the lower one “And it can return to historical norms with frightening speed”

How America Took Out The Nord Stream Pipeline

The New York Times called it a “mystery,” but the
United States executed a covert sea operation that
    was kept secret—until now

The U.S. Navy’s Diving and Salvage Center can be found in a location as obscure as its name—down what was once a country lane in rural Panama City, a now-booming resort city in the southwestern panhandle of Florida, 70 miles south of the Alabama border. The center’s complex is as nondescript as its location—a drab concrete post-World War II structure that has the look of a vocational high school on the west side of Chicago. A coin-operated laundromat and a dance school are across what is now a four-lane road.

    • It has, or will hit the fan. The Nord Pipeline sabotage was an act of war. Madame Hilarity or O’Bama most likely ordered it in revenge for Russia trashing their bioweapons laboratories. Us citizens will most likely bear the brunt of the Russian’s wrath. So, why don’t we just hogtie O’Bama, Hilarity, and Bidening his time, and send them to Russia so the Bear can have his lunch and then Bear with us as Trump will be returned to the Oval Office.
