Iran’s Currency Plummets to All-Time Low Amid Anti-Regime Protests, Sanctions

Iran’s currency fell to a new record low on Sunday, plummeting to 600,000 rials to the dollar for the first time in history as the country’s economy continues to be roiled by nationwide anti-government protests and international sanctions.

Iranians’ purchasing power has been decimated by inflation, which reached an annual rate of 53.4% in January — up from 41.4% two years according to the country’s statistics center. The dire economic circumstances have wiped out the life savings of many and caused Iranians to form long lines at currency exchange offices in recent days in an effort to acquire increasingly scarce dollars.

Austin Police Department Staffing Crisis: 77 Officers Could Retire by End of March as Vacancies Pile Up

Fifty Austin police officers have signed retirement papers since the start of 2023 and another 27 retirement packages are out for signature, potentially exacerbating an ongoing staffing crisis for the Texas state capital’s police force.

The Austin Police Association had agreed in principle to a new four-year contract once the current agreement expires at the end of March, which would have provided much-needed stability that law enforcement officials have argued is necessary to attract and retain high-quality officers.

But in an about-face on Feb. 15, the Austin City Council voted to pursue a shorter one-year contract, angering the police union and throwing a wrench in negotiations.

‘Greater Idaho’ Movement to Absorb Conservative Rural Counties From Liberal Oregon Gains Momentum

A campaign to have rural eastern Oregon effectively secede from the blue state and join more conservative Idaho is gaining steam as leaders from both states express support for relocating the border between them.

Former Oregon House Speaker Mark Simmons penned an op-ed in the Idaho Statesman, a daily newspaper, over the weekend to explain why he supports the so-called Greater Idaho movement, which seeks to incorporate about 13 Oregon counties, or 63% of the state’s landmass and 9% of its population, within Idaho’s borders.

“Idaho would have the satisfaction of freeing rural, conservative communities from progressive blue-state law,” wrote Simmons. “We are dismayed by the manner in which Oregon government has marginalized our values and villainized our resource-based livelihoods. This is why our counties voted 75% Republican last year (Idaho voted 67% Republican).”

‘I Think Hersch’s Article is Very Credible’ — Columbia Professor Jeffrey Sachs Says US Likely Behind Nord Stream Explosions, Calls for UN Investigation

Influential Columbia professor Jeffrey Sachs says that there is substantial evidence and motive that the U.S. was behind the Nord Stream pipeline terrorism attacks during a UN Security Council meeting and is now calling for a UN-led investigation to determine who was behind the blasts.

“The White House has described Hirsch’s account as completely and utterly false, unquote. But did not offer any information contradicting Hersh’s account and did not offer any alternative explanation. Senior US officials made statements before and after the Nordstrom destruction that showed the US animus towards the pipelines,” said Sachs during the UN Security Council meeting.

In a separate interview with Chinese media, he also said that Seymour Hersh’s report that the Biden administration planned and ordered the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines is “credible”

JD Vance, Sherrod Brown Demand EPA, CDC Start Health Screenings in East Palestine After Train Derailment

FIRST ON FOX: Ohio’s Republican and Democratic senators have teamed up to urge the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to immediately begin health screenings of residents of East Palestine, Ohio, after a dangerous train derailment released toxic chemicals into the air.

About 50 rail cars operated by Norfolk Southern, including 10 carrying toxic chemicals, derailed on the evening of Feb. 3 in East Palestine, a small town on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. Officials conducted a controlled release of vinyl chloride from some of the cars three days later to avoid an explosion, sending hydrogen chloride and phosgene into the air.

Residents of the East Palestine community have reported severe symptoms from toxins and chemicals that have seeped into the air and waterways since the derailment.

Media Scolded, Lampooned for Dismissing Now-Likely COVID Lab Leak Theory as Misinformation

The press had long dismissed the lab leak theory, so reporters, pundits and media outlets alike were scolded and lampooned after the U.S. Energy Department reportedly assessed that the COVID-19 pandemic likely originated from an accidental lab leak in China.

The Energy Department, which was previously undecided on the origin of the pandemic, joined the FBI’s stance that the coronavirus likely spread due to a mishap at a Chinese laboratory, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress. The report reminded Americans that the corporate media had long insisted the lab leak theory, or the theory that the virus came from a lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China, was some sort of conspiracy or “misinformation.”

FOX News Radio host Guy Benson appeared on “The Big Sunday Show” to say the value of truth in America is being “undermined” and he hopes there is introspection on the heels of the report.

Microsoft Worker Stabbed 13 Times Walking Home, Cops Say. Apple Watch Alerted His Wife

A Microsoft employee was walking home from work when he was stabbed more than a dozen times by another worker, police said.

The 26-year-old engineer was waiting at a crosswalk in front of the Microsoft building on Feb. 22 in Redmond, the Redmond Police Department said in a probable cause statement.

The worker told police he heard someone walking toward him and shouting as he waited for the crosswalk signal to change.

Then as he turned around, he was stabbed multiple times, he told police.

He fell to the ground in the stabbing, and his fall sent an alert to his wife through his Apple Watch, the woman told police.

A witness yelled at the man to stop stabbing, and he ran off, police said.

‘Oddball’ Trump Grand Jury Foreperson Emily Kohrs Dealt a ‘Terrible Blow’ To Prosecution, Andrew McCarthy Says

Attorney Andrew McCarthy said Emily Kohrs, the forewoman of a special grand jury as part of the Georgia criminal probe into former President Trump, may have dealt “a terrible blow” to prosecutors with her unusual media tour this week.

In a pair of appearances on CNN and NBC News, Kohrs appeared to strongly hint that Trump was among those recommended for criminal charges while laughing, joking and making animated facial expressions that seemed to provide answers she knew she shouldn’t be offering. McCarthy, a senior fellow at the National Review Institute, believes any “fair-mind lawyer” would object to her behavior.

“This is a terrible thing. She basically flouted the secrecy rules of the grand jury. She flouted the judge’s order, and she makes the whole enterprise down there in Georgia look like it’s a, you know — Trump called it a kangaroo court,” McCarthy said.

Outraged NJ High School Students Stage Walkout Over Stabbing of 11-Year-Old

The suspect in the case attends the same school as the 11-year-old victim, Samuel E. Shull Middle School in Perth Amboy

Hundreds of students at a New Jersey high school walked out in unison Monday morning to call attention to violence in the community days after an 11-year-old boy walking home was stabbed by a fellow student.

The students’ call to action comes in the wake of last Wednesday’s bloodshed when another 11-year-old student used a kitchen knife to stab Smailyn Jimenez in the stomach on his typical walk home from school. The suspect in the case attends the same school as Jimenez, Samuel E. Shull Middle School in Perth Amboy.

Police arrested the boy believed to be responsible for the attack, charging him with an act of juvenile delinquency for offenses equal to attempted murder and aggravated assault if they were committed by an adult.

The safety concerns don’t stop at the high school. Perth Amboy parents will hold a rally Monday evening, urging the district to crack down on bullying and calling for the district superintendent to resign.

Rand Paul Seeks to Declassify Documents Supporting Lab Leak as COVID-19 Origin

Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul on Monday called to declassify documents showing that scientists at a major federal agency believe the COVID-19 pandemic occurred due to a leak at a Chinese lab.

“Classified documents leaked (they should be declassified!) showing scientists at DOE believe COVID leaked from Wuhan Lab,” Paul tweeted Monday. Included in the post was a link to a Wall Street Journal article detailing the Department of Energy’s conclusion in support of the lab leak theory.

Formerly maligned as a conspiracy theory, the notion that COVID-19 originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology has gained substantial traction in both the government and the public alike amid the revelations. The WSJ report detailing the Energy Department’s position follows a Senate minority report from October of last year that detailed “substantial evidence” in support of the theory.

Ron DeSantis Reveals His Plan to ‘Make America Florida’

EXCLUSIVE: Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis revealed his proposal to “Make America Florida” in his new book, saying it will require “successfully combating a lot of powerful, elite institutions” in the pursuit of freedom.

DeSantis, who has not officially announced a 2024 presidential run but is widely considered a likely candidate, is releasing his new memoir, “The Courage to be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for American Revival,” on Tuesday by publisher HarperCollins.

The book, shared exclusively with Fox News Digital, detailed DeSantis’ approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, which often contradicted guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and was the frequent target of liberal backlash. The governor argued in the book that the attacks were a “price worth paying” for exercising leadership.

The Court Says They’re Pirates, The IRS Says They’re a Nonprofit

by Daniel Greenfield

In Front Page Magazine’s extensive series on the leftist organizations that the IRS has allowed to keep their tax deductible status, we have covered Chinese Communist front groups, art vandals, domestic terrorists, pedophiles, illegal alien smugglers and the enablers of murderers.

Every time we dive deeper into these investigations, someone asks if there’s anywhere that the IRS will draw the line. A few weeks ago, someone suggested pirates. Surely there couldn’t be nonprofit pirates with tax deductible donations that the IRS has decided is a legitimate charity.

Not only is there a pirate nonprofit, but it’s been denounced by the court, described as eco-terrorists by the FBI, and has shown up on Interpol’s Red Notice while being the subject of international incidents without ever persuading the IRS to drop its 501(c)(3) status.

A decade ago, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruling stated that, “you don’t need a peg leg or an eye patch. When you ram ships; hurl glass containers of acid; drag metal-reinforced ropes in the water to damage propellers and rudders; launch smoke bombs and flares with hooks; and point high-powered lasers at other ships, you are, without a doubt, a pirate.”

The group in question was Sea Shepherd: a trendy anti-fishing organization whose celebrity supporters included Pamela Anderson, Martin Sheen and Sean Penn. And a decade after the Court of Appeals stated that Sea Shepherd’s alleged acts were “clear instances of violent acts for private ends, the very embodiment of piracy”, Sea Shepherd maintains a presence on Facebook, Amazon, YouTube and other Big Tech platforms that purged conservations for “extremism”,where it sells merchandise featuring its version of the skull and bones pirate flag.

And it has retained its status with the IRS as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity for over 40 years…

Top Epidemiologist Blasts Feds’ Continued Obsession With Ineffective Masks in COVID Fight

One of the world’s premier epidemiologists blasted federal health regulators for doubling down on masking when studies have shown it is ineffective in fighting COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses.

Risch, a professor emeritus at Yale University Public School of Health, said the continued embrace of masks and public silence on possible side-effects from COVID-19 mRNA vaccines risked further eroding public trust in the health establishment.

Trump Vows a ‘Sweeping Pro-American Overhaul’ of Tax, Trade Policies in Campaign Video

Former President Donald Trump on Monday unveiled a campaign video in which he maligned the Biden administration’s approach to China trade and outlined his own vision for a “sweeping pro-American overhaul” of the nation’s tax and trade policies.

In a Truth Social video, Trump vowed to impose “a system that rewards domestic production and taxes foreign companies and those who export American jobs” and to transition the nation away from “a Biden system that punishes domestic producers and rewards outsourcers.”

The former president proposed “universal base-line tariffs on most foreign products” and to hike tariffs at a rate proportional to a nation’s devaluing of its currency. Trump has long pointed to alleged Chinese currency manipulation as a factor helping Beijing build a competitive edge in trade.

And we can’t just stand by and allow giant, wealthy corporations like BlackRock to jeopardise our chances.”

Two members of the group glued themselves to the front door of the building in an attempt to disrupt business there.

Three of the four natural gas pipelines connecting Russia to Germany were sabotaged in September last year, an attack that must have been carried out by a state actor.

The attack left Germany and other European countries dependent on US energy, prompting them to support escalation of the war in Ukraine.

Sweden Confirms Terrorist Activity Against Turkey

She thus confirmed Turkey’s allegations against NATO candidate Sweden.

“I won’t give exact amounts, but they are significant amounts,” said Trehörning. In early February, a man was arrested in Sweden for allegedly attempting to finance terrorism by the PKK. However, the top official emphasized that the PKK does not pose a direct risk of an attack.

Shooting Kills Israeli Motorist After Settlers Rampage Through Palestinian Town

Recent shootings and a mob attack have laid bare the fragility of U.S.-led efforts to de-escalate tensions amid a rightward shift in Israeli politics.

JERUSALEM — A wave of violence in the occupied West Bank showed no signs of abating Monday as a Palestinian gunman opened fire on two cars, killing an Israeli motorist.

The Israeli army said it set up road blocks and was searching for the gunman.

The U.S. ambassador to Israel said that a U.S. citizen was killed in a West Bank terror attack on Monday night, but the victim was not publicly identified. U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said that the Israeli who died Monday near Jericho was also an American citizen.

“We express our deepest condolences to all of the victims’ families and their loved ones,” Price said Monday. “We also condemn the wide-scale, indiscriminate violence by settlers against Palestinian civilians following the killing.”

The death of the 27-year-old man followed mounting violence in the area, with dozens of Israeli settlers running riot through a Palestinian town and nearby villages Sunday night, burning homes and cars and killing a Palestinian man.

Sunday night’s hourslong rampage through the Palestinian town of Hawara, the worst such violence in years, followed the shooting death of two Israeli settlers by a Palestinian gunman earlier in the day.

Putin Warned of More Mystery Attacks After Russian Plane Explosion

Belarusian saboteurs successfully attacked a Russian A-50 military surveillance aircraft in an airfield near Minsk in recent hours, Belarusian opposition sources confirmed to The Daily Beast.

The opposition has intelligence that suggests that the aircraft, which is one of just a smattering in Russia’s lineup, is no longer working, citing a recent Russian operation in which the A-50 was unusually absent.

Lisbon Opens Borders to All Portuguese Speakers

Not only the German and Italian governments keep opening new paths for immigration. Portugal, too, has opened a Pandora’s box and is paving the way for possibly millions of non-European immigrants to the EU — something which is not mentioned by the mainstream media.

Interior Minister Carneiro from the Socialist Party (PS) recently presented an ambitious project. According to him, as part of an initiative launched by the PS, the situation of thousands of immigrants who came to Portugal in 2021 and 2022 should be “regularized” (i.e. legalized).

“For the citizens of the countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), there was a dialogue […] with the aim of finding an equal solution consistent with the international protection of the citizens who came here as a result of the war [in Ukraine],” said Carneiro.

The ruse is obvious: It is not just about the immigrants in 2021 and 2022, but about all immigrants from the CPLP countries. Apart from Portugal, no other European countries belong to this community — but the African states of Angola, Guinea-Bissao, Cape Verde, Mozambique, São Tomé and Principe, South Asian East Timor and Brazil do.
