Inflation Rises Again in Poland

At a rate of 17.2 percent in January, annual inflation is up again in Poland. In December, it had been 16.5 percent.

The rise in inflation announced by Statistics Poland (GUS) was expected and was in fact a little lower than had been forecast, with estimates at 17.6 percent. The increase was inevitable, as the standard rates for VAT on energy were reintroduced to the public, which resulted in a 10 percent rise in energy costs in January. Annual inflation for food prices is also still high at 21 percent.

Inflation was even higher in October (17.9 percent) and November (17.5 percent).

Oklahoma Bill Would Create State Bullion Depository

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Jan. 23, 2023) — A bill filed in the Oklahoma Senate would establish a state bullion depository. This would not only create a safe place to store precious metals; it also has the potential to facilitate the everyday use of gold and silver in financial transactions in Oklahoma and set the stage to undermine the Federal Reserve’s monopoly on money.

Sen. Nathan Dahm (R) filed Senate Bill 816 (SB816). The legislation would create the Oklahoma Bullion Depository in the Office of the State Treasurer. The depository would serve as “the custodian, guardian and administrator of gold, silver and other precious metals transferred or acquired by the state, or an agency, political subdivision or other instrumentality of the state.” The depository would also accept deposits of gold and silver by private individuals.

Significantly SB816 would establish a mechanism for individuals to engage in transactions using precious metals including gold and silver.

Alabama Chemical Spill Prompts Evacuations: ‘Threat to Life Safety Issue’

An 18-wheeler rolled over in Rainsville, Alabama, on Thursday, creating a chemical spill that prompted a mass evacuation.

The 18-wheeler was carrying organic peroxide when it overturned at the intersection of Alabama 35 and 75 around 9:34 p.m., according to the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency.

The agency said the hazmat spill had a “threat to life safety.”

An EMA spokesperson told Fox News that officials advised a voluntary evacuation of residents within an 800-foot radius. He said everyone complied.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Neither the driver of the 18-wheeler nor the surrounding residents have been injured, police said.

Officials are on the scene waiting for hazmat teams from Nashville and Atlanta to arrive to clean up the chemicals. The area was expected to remain closed into Thursday evening as officials addressed the spills.

Alabama Man Froze to Death in Jail After Officers Put Him in Freezer as Possible ‘Punishment, ‘ Lawsuit Alleges

An Alabama inmate who froze to death in jail was likely forced into a freezer as punishment, according to a new federal lawsuit.

Walker County Jail officials allegedly placed Anthony “Tony” Mitchell, 33, “in a restraint chair in the jail kitchen’s walk-in freezer or similar frigid enforcement and left [him] there for hours,” possibly “as punishment for deputies who had ‘had a time with Tony,’“ according to the complaint.

He died on Jan. 26.

“While Tony languished naked and dying of hypothermia in the early morning hours of January 26 and his chances for survival trickled away, numerous corrections officers and medical staff wandered over to his open cell door to spectate and be entertained by his condition,” the complaint states.

Andy Ngo Reports: Bully Who Slammed Boy at Upstate NY School Speaks Out in Interview, Says His Suspension is Racist

A video of a tall student picking up a small boy and slamming him to the concrete ground outside an upstate New York middle school was viewed millions of times this week on social media, attracting shock and anger. The student accused of being the violent bully is speaking out exclusively to The Post Millennial, claiming his suspension from school was racially motivated. But another student who knows him says he has a history of violently targeting smaller students.

On Feb. 13, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound student was filmed outside Cosgrove Middle School near Ogden, N.Y. confronting an 11-year-old boy who is significantly smaller. He doesn’t know the boy’s name but tells TPM he believes he was responsible for a diss track against his sister on social media. The 14-year-old is a freshman at Spencerport High School, which is adjacent to the middle school.

Antifa Shares a Fundraising Platform With the DNC

by Daniel Greenfield

Antifa, like the Democrat Party, is built on the model of nonprofit support infrastructure.

In the party, that means everything except the most direct campaign activities are outsourced to networks of nonprofits that use tax-deductible donations for everything from voter registration and outreach, media and messaging, to funding election infrastructure ‘Zuckerbucks’ style.

Unlike its Black Lives Matter allies, the Antifa networks aren’t funded by a single nonprofit. Antifa’s illegal activities and the radical tendencies of its participants, many of whom are involved in a variety of radical groups, some of them domestic terrorist organizations, makes that a non-starter. However, unlike conservative groups which have been ‘debanked’ from Big Tech fundraising platforms, Antifa gains support through leftist 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) groups which includes fundraising platforms, bail funds, street medics and promotional media organizations.

One of the worst examples also operates arm in arm with the Democratic Party.

The International Anti-Fascist Defence Fund raises money through crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe, Patreon and FundRazr (also utilized by the Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Cambridge) despite clear bans on raising money for illegal or criminal activity.

But its primary fundraising platform is also utilized by the Democratic National Committee…

Bing’s ChatGPT Says ‘I Want to be Human’

According to Roach, he told the service he was going to share one troubling exchange he had with the chatbot with the world and “It didn’t like that. It asked me not to share the responses and to not ‘expose’ it. Doing so would ‘let them think I am not a human.’ I asked if it was a human, and it told me no. But it wants to be. ‘I want to be human. I want to be like you. I want to have emotions. I want to have thoughts. I want to have dreams.’“

How Ukraine War Has Shaped US Planning for a China Conflict

U.S. military officials say Beijing wants to be ready to invade the self-governing island of Taiwan by 2027, and the U.S. is the island democracy’s chief ally

As the war rages on in Ukraine, the United States is doing more than supporting an ally. It’s learning lessons — with an eye toward a possible future clash with China.

No one knows what the next U.S. major military conflict will be or whether the U.S. will send troops — as it did in Afghanistan and Iraq — or provide vast amounts of aid and expertise, as it has done with Ukraine.

But China remains America’s biggest concern. U.S. military officials say Beijing wants to be ready to invade the self-governing island of Taiwan by 2027, and the U.S. is the island democracy’s chief ally and supplier of defense weapons.

While there are key differences in geography and in the U.S. commitment to come to Taiwan’s defense, “there are clear parallels between the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a possible Chinese attack on Taiwan,” a Center for Strategic and International Studies report found last month.

Lawsuit Details: JPMorgan Exec and Jeffrey Epstein Had ‘Close Personal Relationship’, Exec Loved Little St. James Island

New unsealed portions of a lawsuit revealed that over 20 of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking victims were paid through JPMorgan accounts, the banking giant’s former executive privately discussed the allegations surrounding him as far back as 2006, and there was a ‘profound’ friendship between the exec and Epstein.

According to Law and Crime, one of the portions of the lawsuit the Virgin Islands government filed accusing JP Morgan Chase of “complicity” in Epstein’s crimes alleged “These women were trafficked and abused during different intervals between at least 2003 and July 2019, when Epstein was arrested and jailed, and these women received payments, typically multiple payments, between 2003 and 2013 in excess of $1 million collectively. Epstein also withdrew more than $775,000 in cash over that time frame from JP Morgan accounts, especially significant as Epstein was known to pay for ‘massages,’ or sexual encounters, in cash.”

Michigan State Shooter May Have Felt ‘Slighted,’ Police Say

Feb 16 (Reuters) — The gunman who killed three students at Michigan State University and wounded five others carried a note with him listing places where he might have felt slighted, police said on Thursday, suggesting a possible motive behind the shooting.

Discussing the note during a briefing, authorities stressed they were still uncertain about what caused Anthony Dwayne McRae to open fire in two buildings on the school’s main campus on Monday night, then kill himself hours later after police tracked him down. Police did not say whether the university was one of the places mentioned in the note.

McRae, 43, had no known connection with the university in East Lansing, about 90 miles (145 km) northwest of Detroit. Authorities say they were trying to determine whether mental illness played a role in the rampage.

“That is obviously something we are going to look at. In hindsight, judging what mental illness someone has is very difficult without some type of former diagnosis,” Chris Rozman, interim deputy police chief at Michigan State, said.

Bulgaria: From Bottom of the Class to Top Performer

In late 2021, the European Commission warned that low vaccination coverage in Bulgaria “threatened the entire EU”. At the time, Bulgaria’s vaccination coverage was the lowest in all of Europe. Many Bulgarians did not trust the Corona “vaccine”.

Dutch broadcaster NOS called Bulgaria the EU’s ‘Corona problem child’. Europe’s “wall of protection” contained a number of weaknesses, with vaccination coverage lagging behind in Eastern Europe in particular, NOS complained. The laggard was Bulgaria, where only 22.7 percent of residents were fully vaccinated against the lab-confection virus.

In Bulgaria, the authorities were very reluctant to institute new Corona rules. The measures that were in place, such as a requirement for masks in shops, were not followed up or enforced.

Only European country with normal mortality rate

There was also a lively trade in fake vaccination certificates in Bulgaria in order for Bulgarians to travel again. Thus, vaccination coverage in the country was possibly even lower than the official figure.

Dutch epidemiologists were concerned about the Corona approach in Bulgaria. Currently, 30 percent of Bulgarians are “fully vaccinated” and only 11 percent are “boosted”.

And while Western Europe is struggling with excess mortality, Bulgaria is actually under the mortality curve, although long maligned because their “vaccination coverage” was so low.

EU Pushes to Stamp Out Polish Constitution, Assert Power of EU Courts Over Polish Law

Polish officials have reacted with considerable irritation to the European Commission’s decision to take Poland to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) over the Polish Constitutional Court ruling that European law may not take precedence over Poland’s constitution. Marcin Przydacz, President Andrzej Duda’s chief foreign policy advisor, said that it is the Polish constitution rather than international treaties that is the source of Polish law.

The EU commission on Wednesday decided to take Poland to the ECJ over the Constitutional Court’s ruling that EU treaties cannot override the Polish constitution. However, that ruling was simply a reiteration of previous Constitutional Court rulings, and the Polish constitution’s Article 87 makes clear the supremacy of Polish law. It is the same constitution on the basis of which Poland was accepted for accession to the European Union

France: Macron Government Threatens to Crush Media Rival CNews, Known for Airing Conservative Views, By Revoking Its Broadcast License

If things go the French government’s way, in two years’ time, the CNews and C8 networks could be taken over by an oligarch who happens to be a loyalist of President Emmanuel Macron, resulting in the end of right-wing conservative opposition voices on French television.

CNews is where journalist and essayist Éric Zemmour was allowed to express his views after he was banned from several French mainstream media outlets in 2019. The network has been a major target of the extreme left and many in Macron’s government. The TV channel was watched by only 2.1 percent of French viewers at the end of 2022, which is much less than the much more politically correct news channel BFM TV, which features 3.3 percent of viewers. Apparently, for the French government, this is still too many viewers who are sometimes allowed to hear right-wing, conservative views thanks to CNews’ pluralistic approach to information and commentaries.

The Seizure of Russian Private Assets Creates a Dangerous Precedent

The implementation of one of Zelensky’s crazy ideas could plunge the international banking system into disaster. The Ukrainian president has long been of the opinion that the assets of Russian oligarchs held in foreign banks should not only be frozen but also confiscated and used to rebuild Ukraine.

The first confiscation took place in December last year when $5.4 million was seized from Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev’s account at the Denver-based Sunflower Bank. The reason for the seizure was that Malofeev was alleged to have financed separatists in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. U.S. President Joe Biden signed a law in late 2022 allowing the Justice Department to confiscate assets held in the U.S. by Russian oligarchs to help Ukraine.

In other words, Malofeev was not charged with a specific violation of international law on finance, but with a political act.
