Canada: Half of Insolvency Cases Were Millennials, Says Insolvency Trustee

Canadians born in the millennial demographic filed half of all insolvencies last year, according to an insolvency trustee.

The “Joe Debtor” study from Hoyes and Michalos (HM) released on Monday said half of Ontario clients that cannot pay debts on time were between the ages of 26 and 41.

While co-founder Douglas Hoyes confirmed this number was specific to HM, he believes the findings are consistent with all cases across Canada.

“Why is the NFL Trying to Divide Us?”: ‘Black National Anthem’ Performed at Super Bowl

The NFL kicked off the Super Bowl with a performance of a song that has been dubbed the ‘black national anthem,’ before featuring the actual U.S. anthem, causing anger among detractors who charged that the decision was divisive.

The song, ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ performed by Sheryl Lee Ralph, was adopted by the NAACP in 1917, and has since been known as a ‘black national anthem’.

The NFL has been playing the song before games since 2020 after the BLM riots in the wake of the George Floyd incident.

This is the third consecutive time it has been played at the Super Bowl, but the first time it has been performed live.

16-Year-Old Girl Stabbed Woman to Death in Boston After Fight Over Explicit Photos, Officials Say

BOSTON — A 16-year-old girl is accused of stabbing a woman to death and injuring a teenager in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood on Saturday in a fight over explicit photos, officials allege.

Wilmary Mejia Matos, of Roxbury, was arraigned Monday on charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Under Massachusetts law, arraignments of juveniles ages 14 to 17 who have been charged with homicide will take place in a regular session instead of a juvenile session.

Prosecutors allege Mejia’s boyfriend sent explicit photos to one or both of the victims before she engaged the victims in a fight at 5 Woodside Ave. in Jamaica Plain.

“She brought with her two male friends. There’s evidence that at least one, probably both, of her male friends attempted to dissuade her from carrying out this plan, but she made clear several times that she was there to fight,” Assistant District Attorney Nathan McGregor said.

Before officers arrived at the scene, two people suffering from multiple stab wounds went to the District 13 police station at 3347 Washington St.

Both victims were transported to separate Boston hospitals. One of the victims, a 21-year-old woman, died of her injuries, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office said the second victim, a 17-year-old girl, was seriously wounded in the attack, but Boston police said she is expected to survive her injuries.

Police said officers apprehended Mejia in the area of Glen Road immediately after the incident.

After Train Derails in Ohio, Residents Live Plot of Movie They Helped Make

The release of vinyl chloride gas has created phosgene and hydrogen chloride across the Ohio town.

Last year, several Ohio residents acted as extras in the Netflix film ‘White Noise’, a fictional tale about a family trying to resume their life after an “airborne toxic event”. Today, hundreds of people, evacuated from Ohio’s East Palestine after a train derailment, are wondering if it is safe to return home.

On February 3, 50 cars of a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed in the Ohio town, igniting a huge blaze. The presence of hazardous materials kept the firefighters away for days. Though no one was injured in the derailment, the incident forced authorities to warn of a possible “major explosion”, reports CNN.

Hundreds of people in East Palestine, which has a population of about 5,000, were evacuated as authorities planned to conduct a controlled burn to prevent a blast. After conducting a “controlled release” of vinyl chloride from five of the rail cars to control the situation, authorities assured residents that it was safe to return, reports The Washington Post.

But the release of vinyl chloride gas has created phosgene and hydrogen chloride across the town, with several people sharing photos and videos on social media of large plumes.

DeSantis Announces Legislation to Ban Social Credit Scores, ‘Woke ESG Financial Scam’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday announced a proposal to eliminate ESG banking and prohibit the financial sector from implementing social credit scores that would otherwise prevent Floridians from obtaining loans, lines of credit and opening bank accounts.

“Today’s announcement builds on my commitment to protect consumers’ investments and their ability to access financial services in the Free State of Florida,” said DeSantis in a statement. “By applying arbitrary ESG financial metrics that serve no one except the companies that created them, elites are circumventing the ballot box to implement a radical ideological agenda. Through this legislation, we will protect the investments of Floridians and the ability of Floridians to participate in the economy.

Microsoft and OpenAI Vow to Implement “Safeguards” to Address “Misinformation”

Microsoft is a major investor (the figure reportedly runs into billions) in OpenAI, an artificial intelligence lab, so it’s no surprise they would be partnering to “innovate.”

New York is Challenged Over Law Forcing Gun Owners to Inform Government of Their Social Media Accounts

The Knight First Amendment Institute and five gun owners’ associations filed an amicus brief at the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in support of a lawsuit challenging a provision in New York’s Concealed Carry Improvement Act that would require applicants to provide the government with a list of their social media accounts.

The amicus brief argues that the requirement would have a chilling effect on the free speech of applicants for concealed carry permits. The law would require them to provide the state government with a list of social media accounts they have used in the last three years, including pseudonymous accounts.

Ohio Train Derailment: Rep. Omar Calls Out Buttigieg for ‘Direct Action, ‘ Vance Says ‘Many Questions Remain’

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, said Monday that he’s “horrified” by the Norfolk Southern train derailment earlier this month in East Palestine, warning that many questions remain unanswered after a controlled release of toxic chemicals shrouded the town in thick plumes of black smoke.

About 50 cars, including several carrying vinyl chloride, derailed on the evening of Feb. 3 due to a broken axle.

Three days after the derailment, authorities decided to burn off the toxic gases to avoid an explosion, sending hydrogen chloride and phosgene, a toxic chemical used as a weapon in World War I, into the air.

Ohio Residents See Dead Fish, Chickens Following Toxic Chemical Spill From Train Derailment

While residents in East Palestine, Ohio have been allowed to return to their homes following a train derailment earlier this month which released toxic chemicals, they have come back to find fish dead in rivers and creeks, and the smell of chemicals lingering in the air. After the spill, officials set the chemicals on fire as a means of disposing of them.

Initial reports stated that five of the derailed train cars carried vinyl chloride, a colorless gas used to make PVC plastics. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the exposure limit for workers is 1 part per million over an 8-hour shift. The National Cancer Institute states that exposure to vinyl chloride comes with an increased risk of rare liver cancer as well as brain and lung cancers, lymphoma, and leukemia.

New reports have revealed though that three additional chemicals were on the derailed Norfolk Southern train.

Residents Report Animals Dying After Toxic Chemical Spill in Ohio

After the “controlled” vent and burn of toxic chemicals following a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, residents as far as 15 km away are reporting that animals are falling ill and dying.

“I live just north of this area. It’s bad,” said one anonymous Ohio woman on Twitter. “People are losing chickens and other pets. The streams are full of dead fish and frogs. If it’s in the creeks, it’s certainly in the water table. Many people in this area have wells.”

On Feb 3, a total of 50 train cars derailed and caught fire near the town of 4,800. Twenty of the 141 cars were classified as carrying hazardous materials, and 14 of those were carrying chemical vinyl chloride, a colourless gas used to make PVC plastics.

According to the National Cancer Institute, exposure to vinyl chloride can increase the risk of developing liver, brain and lung cancers, as well as lymphoma and leukemia. Short-term symptoms of vinyl chloride toxicity include headaches, dizziness and unclear vision.

The New York City Department of Health Created “Misinformation Response Unit” to Monitor Social Media

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene set up a “Misinformation Response Unit” to monitor what it would determine to be “dangerous misinformation” posted on social media, non-US sites, and non-English media in the US.

This “misinformation” mostly had to do with Covid vaccination — the Department was determined to drive vaccination rates up by spreading its word, and in this gathered over 100 partners whose job was to craft positive messaging around the controversial subject.

Among those the dedicated new unit is working with is Public Good Projects, otherwise known for receiving funding from a lobbying group representing two major Covid vaccine manufacturers, Pfizer and Moderna.

Belgium: Activists Deface Engie Headquarters in Brussels

The act has been claimed by activists from a group called “Étoile Noire” (Black Star), which claims to campaign in favour of collective management of national resources and opposes privatisation. The group has focused its efforts on energy provider Engie, which it accuses of making indecent profits against the backdrop of the current energy crisis.

EU to Dispatch ‘Disinformation Experts’ All Over the World

Brussels is gearing up for a global propaganda war. The bluster with which the EU introduced the new name for its censorship bodes ill. It’s no longer about truth or lies, but rather about the intentions that are assumed of those who report facts.

In future, it will no longer be enough for the EU to censor and silence undesirable alternative media only in its own area of responsibility. In the future, the EU also wants to fight unwelcome opinions and competing media in the rest of the world.

To this end, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has announced that he intends to use alleged “disinformation experts” in EU offices around the world. Their task would be fighting Russian and Chinese spreaders of alleged “fake news”.

Germany: Left-Wing Activists Protest Against Construction of New Mosque in Wuppertal

Left-wing activists held a demonstration on Wednesday against the local government’s plans to construct a new mosque in the German city of Wuppertal.

A group of around 50 supporters from the far-left Autonomous Center opposed the plans in a protest outside a closed-door meeting of the Elberfeld District Council.

The proposal would see the demolition of a municipal building which has been occupied by the Autonomous Center for almost three decades, in order to build a €30 million mosque in a run-down area of the western German city.

In addition to the Islamic prayer center, the city administration wants to build a daycare center for children, a senior citizens’ center and a student accommodation. The council project is in collaboration with the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DITIB), a controversial Islamist organization with links to the Turkish government, and protesters believe the move would see DITIB gain too much influence in the local community.

Hungary Has One of Central Europe’s Most Potent Armies, New Study Shows

Prior to the successive conservative governments of Viktor Orban starting in 2010, the Hungarian army was lagging behind most of its regional peers. Now, the country has made huge strides in developing its military, the latest study has shown.

According to the Global Firepower (GFP) 2023 index, which is widely cited in international forums, Hungary now has the 20th most capable army in Europe. Only Romania (16th) and the Czech Republic (17th) have a greater military capacity in the Central European region.

Globally, there has also been a positive trend. In 2017, Hungary’s military was ranked 63rd out of the 100 countries surveyed; last year it was 56th; and this year it is 54th. Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, and Bulgaria are now among the countries ranking behind Hungary.

Meloni’s Precarious Balancing Act Between the Will of Her People and That of Brussels

It seems that Brussels and Berlin are trying to put everyone they can through the wringer, and now it’s Giorgia Meloni’s turn. The new Italian prime minister was in Berlin last week to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and what was said after the talks was, to put it mildly, a nuanced take on Meloni’s previous message during her election campaign.

Meloni suggested that immigration quotas should be set up as part of the fight against illegal migration. This was glaringly similar to the EU statement later in the week, which called for greater protection of the EU’s external borders and yet still insisted on migrant distribution quotas among member states.

Where is the tough election rhetoric that got Meloni into power in September’s election, when she called for much stronger and more decisive action on illegal migration? She is now being accused of “muddying the waters,” and while she has not yet completely U-turned on illegal migration, a half-turn has already been made.

Right-Wing Coalition Storms to Victory in Key Italian Regional Elections

Italy’s right-wing government received a resounding endorsement from the electorate on Monday as conservative coalition parties secured victory in the key Lazio and Lombardy regional elections.

In the first electoral test for Giorgia Meloni’s administration since coming to power in September last year, her coalition of right-wing parties secured more than half of the vote share in the two most important regions of the country.

Initial reporting suggests the right has comfortably retained control of the Lombardy regional government, home to the country’s financial capital of Milan. However, Meloni’s governing coalition also seized control of Lazio from the center-left, which covers the capital of Rome. The two regions account for more than a quarter of Italy’s population and generate a third of the country’s economic output.

UK PM Sunak: Fighters on Standby to Shoot Down Chinese Ballons Intruding on British Airspace

The UK Defence Ministry is launching a security review into the possibility of Chinese spy balloons over the United Kingdom, meanwhile, the Prime Minister reassures the public that the nation’s rapid reaction force is on standby 24 hours a day to deal with aerial threats.

Balloon panic has reached the United Kingdom after a string of remarkable shoot-downs of ‘UFOs’ over North America in the past week, with high-altitude balloons generally credited as Chinese spycraft destroyed over U.S. and Canadian territory. Now questions are being asked in London over whether the UK has ever been the target of a Chinese spy balloon — a redundant effort, perhaps, given the advanced state of Chinese influence in the country already — with top government figures moving to reassure the public they are safe from balloons.

Elon Musk Hit Back at Ex-NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly, Saying SpaceX’s Starlink is Supporting Ukraine But Won’t be Used to Start WWIII

Elon Musk on Sunday lashed out at a former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly over restrictions Starlink recently made in Ukraine over worries their service could contribute to the war’s escalation.

SpaceX said in recent weeks that Ukraine can’t use its Starlink internet service for military drones, such as to pilot drones, and has taken steps to prevent this, per Reuters.

Kelly tagged Musk in a tweet on Saturday, asking him to “restore the full functionality” of SpaceX’s Starlink internet satellites in Ukraine. Although SpaceX has limited Ukraine’s ability to use Starlink for some military purposes, such as the drones Ukraine is believed to have used against Russian bases, the service appears to still be used for many military purposes as well as for commercial use.

“Defense from a genocidal invasion is not an offensive capability. It’s survival. Innocent lives will be lost. You can help,” Kelly, a Democratic senator from Arizona, tweeted.

Musk told Kelly he was smart enough to “not swallow media & other propaganda bs.” He called Starlink the “communication backbone” of Ukraine, “especially at the frontlines.”

“But we will not enable escalation of conflict that may lead to WW3,” Musk added.

Russian Forces Bombard Ukraine’s Bakhmut in Apparent Start of Major Offensive

KYIV, Feb 13 (Reuters) — The eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut endured heavy artillery fire on Monday in what the NATO chief said appeared to be the start of a major new Russian offensive days before the first anniversary of Moscow’s invasion.

Ukrainian defenders, who have already held out for months, were braced for new ground attacks, Ukrainian military officials said.

Positions in Bakhmut have been fortified and only people with a military role were being allowed in, a deputy battalion commander said. Any civilians who still wanted to leave the city would have to brave the incoming fire, he said.

Bakhmut is a prime objective for Russian President Vladimir Putin and its capture would give Russia a new foothold in the Donetsk region and a rare victory after several months of setbacks. Donetsk and Luhansk regions make up the Donbas, Ukraine’s industrial heartland, now partially occupied by Russia which wants full control.

WWIII Has Already Begun, Says French Historian Emmanuel Todd

World War III has already begun, according to one of France’s leading intellectuals, Emmanuel Todd, who argues that the proxy war taking place in Ukraine is existential for both the United States and Russia.

Tood, an anthropologist, sociologist, and historian who currently works in France’s National Institute of Demographic Studies, spoke to Le Figaro, one of the most influential newspapers in the country, saying: “Biden must hurry now. America is fragile, and the resistance of the Russian economy is pushing the U.S. imperial system toward the abyss.”

“It is evident that the conflict, initially a limited territorial war, has evolved into a global economic confrontation between the whole West on one side, and Russia, backed by China, on the other. It has become a world war,” Todd said.

Charity of Married Boss Who Romped With Toyboy Migrant in Calais Jungle ‘Suspends Operations After Refugee Lover Tried to Burn Down HQ’

The Pentagon’s Pronoun Wars

by Daniel Greenfield

In 2020, the Air Force conducted a classified war game which showed Communist China launching a biological attack and then invading Taiwan.

And we lost.

“At that point the trend in our war games was not just that we were losing, but we were losing faster,” Air Force Lt. Gen. S. Clinton Hinote stated.

With abysmal readiness rates that have an average of only 7 out of 10 planes operational, and down to 50% for the F-22 stealth fighter, 50% for the CV-22 Osprey and 40% for the B-1 Lancer, the Air Force isn’t even trying to win a possible war, but it’s fighting one for pronouns.

Gina Ortiz Jones, a two-time losing congressional candidate who wasted millions before being appointed by Biden as Air Force Undersecretary, declared that adding pronouns to the emails of air force personnel will make them “a more inclusive force”.

“An inclusive force is a mission-ready force,” she contended, all evidence to the contrary.

This proposal was cheered by Lt. Col. Bree (Bryan) Fram, LIT Transgender Policy Team co-lead. He describes himself as a “Rocket Scientist, Author, Advocate, Nerd”. Warrior does not make the list. But he was in attendance when Biden signed the Disrespect for Marriage Act, abolishing religious freedom and marriage.

“The use of correct pronouns is an easy way to show care and respect,” Mr. Fram insisted.

It’s a short hop from pronouns being voluntary to becoming mandatory…

Doctor Farshid Sistani, 36, sold fake covid certificates in Sweden, was convicted and lost his medical license. But now he is making a successful career in Finland, under the name Joseph Sistani.

For some reason, he has obtained a medical license in Finland and is employed by the Åland Health Service.

However, it is now being investigated whether he should be fired, Åland Radio reports.

It was an alert patient who reported the doctor after recognising him from images on Google.

    – I found extremely serious information about a doctor who looked like my doctor in the photo, with the same surname, born in the same year and from the same area in Sweden. Prison sentence among other things.

Then I understood that this is not good, says the patient to Ålands radio.
