Marcel de Graaff: “The EU is Becoming a Dwarf in a Multi-Polar World”

Marcel de Graaff is a Dutch politician who serves as a member of the European Parliament. He was formerly a member of the PVV (Partij voor de Vrijheid, Party for Freedom), but later switched to the FvD (Forum voor Democratie, Forum for Democracy). Last year he was threatened with sanctions for his opposition to the war in Ukraine, which was identified as a “pro-Russian” position.

In the following speech from the floor of the European Parliament, Mr. de Graaff calls out the EU and NATO for their enlistment of Ukraine to fight a proxy war in a bid to take down Russia. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:00   Speaker, the EU and NATO have aggressively spread eastward.
00:06   In this expansion, they have not taken Russia on board as a possible partner.
00:12   Above all, they have also failed to take into account the security interests of Russia.
00:17   A truly independent Europe is a Europe including Russia.
00:22   Opposite the EU there now stands a strong alliance of nations such as China,
00:27   Russia, India, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, who have said goodbye to the dollar.
00:34   The EU, as a great power, is falling with the sanctions against Russia and the support for Ukraine.
00:40   The member states give away money and weapons, but without gas, destroy their industry.
00:46   The EU is becoming a dwarf in a multi-polar world, and the citizens pay the bill.
00:50   The Commission must change course.
00:54   Take Turkey, which is now a mediator in this conflict, as an example.
00:57   Stop inciting and feeding a war.
01:01   An EU for the citizens is an EU that strives for peace.

  1. This Dutch legislator says that “A truly independent Europe is a Europe including Russia.”

Alas, there is no such thing as an “independent Europe.” Instead, there is the European Union, an unelected, centralized, highly bureaucratic organization that compels its member states to yield sovereignity to a bunch of maniacal ideologues and tyrants.

Ending the video segment, the Dutch legislator says that an EU for its citizens is an EU that strives for peace. The EU has no citizens. Countries have citizens.

Rather than ranting about the EU, the legislator should be seeking the Netherland’s exit from the EU.

  2. You are right in the first part of your comment.

But Mr. de Graaff makes a remark about The citizens, not Its citizens. He is a strong advocate for the concept of Nation States.

Furthermore, I may inform you that Mr. de Graaff is MEP for “Forum for Democracy”, the party in The Netherlands that supports Nexit, i.e. leaving the EU.

    • Battus: Thank you for explaining Mr. de Graff’s party. Perhaps, my interpretation is a matter of translation. To my particular American understanding, whenever politicians say the word “citizen,” I know they are trying to fool me into believing they care about individual rights and liberty, instead of about centralized control.

    • Actually, it is my understanding that deGraaf has left the Forum for Democracy and is now an independent member of the European Parliament.

      • Gary Fause: Mr. de Graaff switched parties from PVV (Geert Wilders Party) to Forum (FVD) mainly because he felt that this truly patriottic party has more influence in the EU.

FVD has an international website: https://fvdinternational.com/
You may find him under “authors”.

Billrla: Again, you hit the nail. But Mr. de Graaff is not one of those.

  3. I would bet he makes sense to most citizens of the countries within and without the European Union. Oh well.

  4. Let’s think logically.
So. War between Russia and the West. Sanctions and arms deliveries. What is missing? Logically, now the West should unleash a lot of revelations and compromising information on Putin and his establishment. And such that the throne staggered under him. I assume that the West has this information. And where is this information? Absent. But there are victims – ordinary people, men of the two countries. There are territories cleared of the population. And then who is fighting with whom?
