After Being Stabbed in Face, 79-Year-Old Man Shoots 22-Year-Old Attacker Dead in Small Wisconsin Town

Some people think that violent crime almost never happens in small towns. The reality is that horrific crimes do sometimes occur in sleepy, small towns, including the wholesale slaughter of entire families. While we read more about what happens in places like Philadelphia, Portland, Chicago and their endless parade of violent crime, bad things happen in small town America, too.

In the teeming metropolis of Elderon, Wisconsin (pop. 159), a 79-year-old man was accosted outside his home at 2:30 a.m. as he stepped out of his car. It seems his attacker followed him home intent on robbing the older man.

Unbeknownst to the attacker, the homeowner carried a pistol. Police say that Mr. Homeowner, after being stabbed in the face, shot Alexander T. Watters once in the chest.

California Doctor Performed U-Turn on Devil’s Slide Cliff Before Driving Tesla Off Edge With Wife and Two Young Children — as He’s Charged With Attempted Murder After All Miraculously Survived 250ft Drop

The Pasadena doctor charged with the attempted murder of his wife and their two young children by intentionally driving their Tesla off the slide of a 250ft cliff has been pictured today for the first time.

Dharmesh A. Patel, 42, works as a radiologist at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Pasadena.

He is accused of intentionally driving his white Tesla Model Y off a cliff known as Devil’s Slide on Monday near San Francisco, during a trip north.

Miraculously, all four members of the family — Patel, his wife Neha and their kids aged four and seven — survived without any serious injuries.

Initially, there were questions over whether the car — which is famous for its self-driving technology — had gone rogue and taken the family off the road by mistake.

Now, some are asking whether the vehicle — which has airbags adjacent to the two front seats in addition to in front of them — actually saved them.

On Tuesday, police charged Patel with attempted homicide and child abuse, alleging that the incident was an attempted murder-suicide gone wrong.

Court Rules Liability Protections Apply to Police Union Message Boards

The US Communications Decency Act (CDA) Section 230 continues to crop up in court cases across the country, sometimes with significantly varied interpretations by the judicial authorities of this legislation, passed over 30 years ago.

And now — given the way it has been attacked, supported, and “explained” from many corners — to make matters worse, mostly depending on those corners’ political affiliation rather than commitment to the rule of law — it can be said that Section 230 has become truly controversial.

Here is another case where it has been invoked — a (now former) female police officer in East Hartford, Connecticut, who accused her employer of workplace harassment based on sexism.

Jordan Peterson: I Will Risk My Licence to Escape Social Media Re-Education

The Ontario College of Psychologists wants to retrain me to behave properly — and this should concern everyone

Author of the article:

Jordan Peterson, Special to National Post

The practice of psychology in Ontario, and in many other North American and western jurisdictions, is subject to regulation by “professional colleges” — essentially governmental organizations with a mandate to protect the public from misconduct on the part of physicians, lawyers, social workers, dentists, pharmacists, teachers, architects and many others, including (and most relevant to me) clinical psychologists.

Anyone anywhere in the world can levy a complaint to these regulatory bodies for any reason, regardless of whether the complainant has had any direct contact with the professional in question. The respective colleges have the responsibility to determine whether each complaint is serious and credible enough to warrant further investigation. Complaints can be deemed vexatious or frivolous and dispensed with. When the college decides to move forward, it is a serious move, essentially equivalent to a lawsuit. The Ontario College of Psychologists in fact recommends legal counsel under such conditions.

French Govt Wanted Modernist Notre Dame Rebuild, Macron’s Wife Proposed ‘Erect Phallus and Golden Balls’ Spire

The French government wanted a modernist redesign of Notre-Dame, according to its former culture minister, with President Macron’s wife pitching a new spire resembling male genitalia.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, who served as Minister for Culture under Prime Minister Jean Castex and, by extension, President Emmanuel Macron from 2020 to 2022, claims in her autobiography that the government wanted to make some sort of modernist statement in the rebuild of the fire-damaged 800-year-old cathedral, The Times reports.

German Cyber Defense Chief Suddenly Fired

Schönbohm was ousted from his office and transferred to another one. Schönbohm’s “crime” was that as head of the BSI, he is said to have maintained contacts with the so-called Cyber Security Council Germany (CSRD eV), which in turn is said to have connections to Russian secret service circles. Such contacts are common and understandable from a security perspective.

Not so for the German Minister of the Interior: She has now withdrawn Schönbohm from the BSI and instead made him head of the Federal Academy for Public Administration.

UK: Top Cancer Expert: Aggressive Cancers Appearing After Vaccine Boosters “Not a Coincidence”

There follows the transcript of a new video put out by top cancer specialist Dr. Angus Dalgleish, who is very concerned that the Covid boosters appear to be causing cancers, an adverse effect which he says “does not look like a coincidence”.

I’m Angus Dalgleish. I’m a Professor of Oncology at St. George’s, a Consultant Medical Oncologist, and I have started to notice that several of my patients have melanoma who’ve been stable with stage 4 disease, they’ve had very good immunotherapy or other treatment and I’ve been reviewing them from five to 20 years. I’ve noticed that I have now over six, possibly seven, even an eighth yesterday, who’ve clearly relapsed following the booster vaccine.

Caroline Glick: Does the Israeli Left Protect Israel From the International Left?

Does the Israeli left protect Israel from international condemnation and prosecution? This has been the left’s key claim for more than a generation. From former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak to opposition leader Yair Lapid and his colleagues, to the last of Israel’s leftist reporters, commentators and activists, all major and minor operatives on the Israeli left have long insisted that if our elected leaders stray from the left’s positions on either domestic or strategic issues, the gates of hell will open to Israel on the international stage. They are Israel’s protective vest, shielding us from the hostile forces at our doorstep.

In the week since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government took office, this assertion has been made twice. First, they made it in relation to National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s visit to the Temple Mount early Tuesday morning. And second, they raised in in response to Justice Minister Yariv Levin’s proposal for judicial reform, which he presented at a press conference Wednesday night.

Ahead of Ben-Gvir’s much-anticipated, but unannounced visit to Judaism’s most sacred site early Tuesday morning, Lapid and his protean choir in the media warned that if Ben-Gvir dared to set foot on the Temple Mount, Hamas would fulfill its threat to bomb Israel and the international community would blame Israel for the terror regime’s wanton aggression. The clear insinuation was that if Ben-Gvir failed to bow to Hamas’s threats, and went ahead with his plan to visit the Temple Mount, any future Hamas aggression would be Israel’s fault.

Although Hamas has yet to launch a new missile campaign against Israel from its terror state in Gaza, Israel has been subjected to a diplomatic pile-on that has included friends like the United States and enemies like the Palestinian Authority along with the UAE, Jordan, the U.K., the EU and Egypt. On Thursday, at the UAE’s request, the U.N. Security Council convened a special session to condemn Israel for Ben-Gvir’s visit.

But the thing of it is, the condemnations have nothing to do with anything that Ben-Gvir did…

Islamists’ Grip on Power in Iran Weakening as Protesters Demand Regime Change: Experts

At the onset of 2023, the Islamist regime in Iran is facing an unprecedented threat to its hold on power from anti-government protests that continue to rage across the country, according to experts closely monitoring the situation.

That doesn’t mean regime change is coming imminently, they note, although prominent Iranian pro-opposition figures in exile have predicted 2023 will be a year of “victory” with the government shaken by demonstrations.

Instead, analysts argue, the world is witnessing an early stage of a process that will yield significant change — if not revolution — inside Iran.

WhatsApp’s New Feature Could Help Iranians Bypass Censors and Coordinate Protests During Government-Imposed Internet Blackouts

WhatsApp, the messaging platform owned by Meta, is introducing a new feature to help users bypass internet controls imposed by repressive governments.

The move follows a string of internet shutdowns by Iranian authorities in an attempt to quash dissent and clamp down on anti-government protests.

WhatsApp wrote in a blog post on Thursday: “Disruptions like we’ve seen in Iran for months on end deny people’s human rights and cut people off from receiving urgent help. In case these shutdowns continue, we hope this solution helps people wherever there is a need for secure and reliable communication.”

On Twitter, WhatsApp announced the new feature in Persian, Iran’s official language.

It’s High Time to Prepare for Russia’s Collapse

Not planning for the possibility of disintegration betrays a dangerous lack of imagination.

Ever since Russia’s attempt to take Kyiv and install a puppet government failed in the early days of the war, a defeat for the Kremlin in Ukraine has looked increasingly likely. What’s stunning after almost a year of war, therefore, is the near-total absence of any discussion among politicians, policymakers, analysts, and journalists of the consequences of defeat for Russia. It is a dangerous lack of imagination, considering the potential for Russia’s collapse and disintegration.

In fact, the combination of a failed war abroad and a brittle, strained system at home is increasing the likelihood of some sort of implosion with every passing day. Regardless of whether this will be good or bad for the West, it’s an outcome policymakers should prepare for.

There are various scenarios for what might happen in Russia after defeat in Ukraine becomes even clearer. Most likely is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s departure from office, followed by a vicious power struggle among the extreme right-wing nationalists who want to continue the war effort and destroy the existing political hierarchy, authoritarian conservatives who have a stake in the system, and a resurgent semi-democratic movement committed to ending the war and reforming Russia. We don’t know who will win, but we can confidently predict that the power struggle will weaken the regime and distract Russia from what remains of its war effort. In turn, a weakened regime, in conjunction with a malfunctioning economy, will invite disgruntled Russians to take to the streets, perhaps even with arms, and encourage some of the non-Russian political units comprising the Russian Federation to opt for greater self-rule; leading candidates include Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Chechnya, Dagestan, and Sakha. If Russia survives this turmoil, it’s likely to become a weak client state of China. If it does not, the map of Eurasia could look very different.

Diversity Through Obscurity: Applicants Told to Delete Names of Schools on Their Resumes

Authored by Jonathan Turley

Colleges and universities have been implementing controversial new diversity reforms, including dropping standardized test scores, that eliminate objective criteria in academic admissions or advancement.

Now, HR&A Advisors, the TriBeCa-based real estate consultancy, has drawn attention to its LinkedIn posting asking applicants to remove “all undergraduate and graduate school name references” from their résume’s. In order to achieve diversity goals, the company wants applicants to only list the degree and not where it came from. It is equity through obscurity. It is as irrational to eliminate any consideration of an academic institution as it is to rely exclusively on the academic institution.

SC, ID: Two States, Two Very Different High Court Rulings on Abortion Laws

Thursday brought two very different state supreme court rulings on the constitutionality of anti-abortion laws: The Idaho Supreme Court upheld multiple laws and the South Carolina Supreme Court rejected a six-week abortion law.

Thursday’s South Carolina ruling was the first such finding of a state-level right to abortion since last summer’s U.S. Supreme Court overturning of Roe v Wade. That June decision rightly restored jurisdiction over abortion policy to state governments and courts.

In a 3-2 vote, the South Carolina Supreme Court said the state’s ban of abortions after six weeks violated rights that were implied by the state constitution’s protection of privacy. As a result, abortion will be legal in the Palmetto State up to 20 weeks into pregnancy.

  1. You are delusional if you think Russia is losing. Sone things in Russia have actually improved – all the pro West intellectual and arty losers have gone to the west and will not be allowed to return. Many in Russia very happy. We should be so lucky to get rid of our whinging left wing elites who hate us. How we can we organise a situation where they would leave? Unfortunately, they are making too much money bleeding us dry to give it up easily.
Russia has also started shipping grain via the Caspian sea through Iran to the Indian ocean – Genius. Have a look at the map.
They have also opened a new pipeline into the Power of Siberia pipeline into China.
    Losing? I don’t think so.
