Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/5/2022

The price of oil spiked upward after the OPEC nations agreed to cut crude production. Meanwhile, the French government tapped its strategic fuel reserve after gas stations started running out of fuel.

In other news, a petition has been launched in Czechia to annex the Russian territory of Kaliningrad (formerly Königsberg), citing a prior claim justified by the fact that the city was founded by Czech King Ottokar II during the 1200s.

“Please Don’t Panic Buy”: France Taps Strategic Reserve After Gas Stations Run Out of Fuel

There are “emergency” reasons to drain one’s petroleum reserve — like, for example, approaching midterm elections that give you absolutely no right to drain a country’s strategic reserve but you do it anyway in hope of picking up some votes from idiots who don’t realize that gas will soar to record highs right after the elections — and then there are emergency reasons.

The Biden administration, of course, is dealing with a the quote-unquote emergency…

[…]while France is about to get hit with a bad case of the real deal.

Several days after we learned that gas stations in France have run out of gasoline due to long-running oil refinery strikes, today the French government said that France has tapped its strategic fuel reserves to resupply petrol stations that have run dry, amid ongoing strikes by workers that have stunted refining production and blocked gasoline deliveries.

ADP Reports Better Than Expected Jump in Jobs in September, Wage Growth Accelerates

Ahead of Friday’s big number, and following last month’s dismal print (under its new model regime) which dramatically under-predicted the payrolls print in August, ADP was expected to show a modest uptick in September of 200k jobs. The actual print came in at +208k jobs but most notably, the +132k print from August was revised drastically higher to +185k…

Oil Prices Rise After OPEC+ Agrees to Slash Crude Output

(Reuters) — Oil prices edged up in early Asian trade on Thursday after OPEC+ agreed to further tighten global crude supply with a deal to slash oil production by about 2 million barrel per day.

The agreement between the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies including Russia, a group known as OPEC+, would squeeze supplies in an already tight market.

Brent crude futures rose 46 cents, or 0.5%, to $93.83 per barrel by 0027 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 45, or 0.5%, cents at $88.21 per barrel.

Video: Reporter Asks White House if Biden is Responsible for Gas Prices Rising Again

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy once again exposed the hypocrisy of the Biden administration Tuesday by asking the White House Press Secretary if Joe Biden is still responsible for changes in gas prices after they spiked again.

When gas prices dropped by cents a few weeks ago, Joe Biden took a massive victory lap, with aides celebrating how the administration was responsible for prices coming down, despite the fact that they were still close to $2/gal HIGHER than when Biden took office.

Now gas prices have gone back up, so is Biden still responsible?

No, according to Karine Jean-Pierre it’s “a lot more nuanced than that”.

“Be Afraid, Be Actually Afraid”: Reporters Panic at the Thought of Twitter Restoring Free Speech Protections

Authored by Jonathan Turley

“Be afraid, be actually afraid.”

Those words from former Politico Magazine editor Garrett M. Graff captures the hyperventilation in the media week. No it is not Vladimir Putin’s threat of unleashing a nuclear war or the word that our national debt has reached a staggering $31 trillion. No, it is the news that Elon Musk may go forward with the purchase of Twitter and . . . [triggering warning] . . . free speech protections might be restored on the platform. The pearl-clutching of various media and academic figures show how engrained the censorship culture has become in the United States.

After Musk indicated that he was going forward, the Twitter stock quickly soared. The news that Musk might bring an end to Twitter’s extensive censorship system has previously drawn people back to the platform. However, the media is in full panic mode that the control over speech could be loosened with Musk.

Alec Baldwin Shooting: Filming to Resume After Halyna Hutchins Death on Set

Alec Baldwin has reached a settlement with the family of Halyna Hutchins, after she was killed on a film set when he fired a prop gun.

Filming of Rust will continue in January, with Ms Hutchins’ husband Matthew on board as an executive producer.

A lawsuit filed against Mr Baldwin, producers and others, alleged several violations of industry standards.

All parties believe Ms Hutchins’ death was an accident, her husband said.

The exact terms of the settlement, which is subject to court approval, have not been disclosed.

DHS is Spending Millions to Combat “Misinformation” And “Disinformation”

Despite shutting down its “Disinformation Governance Board” after First Amendment violation concerns, the United States (US) Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is still handing out millions in grants in order to combat “misinformation,” “disinformation,” and “conspiracy theories.”

The DHS has previously claimed that online misinformation is a terror threat and these grants were made in a similar vein and doled out as part of a “Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program.”

In total, over $3 million of taxpayer money was handed over to universities, think tanks, and nonprofits who will use the money to fund projects that fight what they deem to be misinformation and disinformation.

Federal Judge Tosses Lawsuit Against Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Law

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and other state officials in response to the controversial Parental Rights in Education law on Tuesday.

“The principal problem is that most of plaintiffs’ alleged harm is not plausibly tied to the law’s enforcement so much as the law’s very existence,” Winsor’s dismissal read, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Gunman Kills 4, Including Himself, In Lafayette Parish Shooting Spree

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A shooting spree across Lafayette Parish Tuesday has left four people dead, including the suspected gunman.

Police said a man identified as Andres Jamal Felix, 36, shot three people in three different locations, including his estranged wife, before taking his own life.

Lafayette Police Spokesperson Sgt. Matthew Benoit, Duson Police Chief Kip Judice and Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Valerie Ponsetti have all confirmed with News 10 detailed information, including a timeline of events.

According to Lafayette Police, the first shooting happened just after 10 a.m. on Tournoir Street where a man was shot to death and that the shooter, identified as Felix, had fled the scene.

Police have identified the deceased as Ross Chiasson, 29.

Lafayette Police say the vehicle Felix was traveling in was located in Iberville Parish, where detectives approached the vehicle but found it to be abandoned.

It was later discovered that Felix stole a vehicle in Iberville Parish and traveled back to Lafayette Parish, police said.

The second shooting, according to Duson police, happened just after 5:30 p.m. and claimed the life of Paige Lewis, 25 of Duson. Lewis leaves behind three young children.

According to Judice, it happened at a home in the 400 block of Toby Mouton Road. Felix was identified as the suspected shooter.

And then just after 6 p.m. Lafayette Police responded to a fatal shooting at a home in the 100 block of Clara Street where they found Kawanna Felix, 43, the estranged wife of the gunman.

NYT ‘Right Wing Conspiracy Theory’ Comes True in Less Than 24 Hours

The latest salvo from the left in the ongoing ‘unpersoning’ of anyone (on the right) who questions election integrity fell flat on its face in less than a day.

On Tuesday, the New York Times framed a story circulating on the right over a software company’s connection with the Chinese Communist Party as a “right-wing conspiracy theory.”

“At an invitation-only conference in August at a secret location southeast of Phoenix, a group of election deniers unspooled a new conspiracy theory about the 2020 presidential outcome,” was the Times’ original lede (via the Daily Caller).

In it, the Times wrote that “right-wing” election deniers in Arizona had fabricated a conspiracy theory that election software company Konnech had secret ties to the CCP, and was passing them information on around two million US poll workers.

“In the two years since former President Donald J. Trump lost his re-election bid, conspiracy theorists have subjected election officials and private companies that play a major role in elections to a barrage of outlandish voter fraud claims,” reads the article. “But the attacks on Konnech demonstrate how far-right election deniers are also giving more attention to new and more secondary companies and groups. Their claims often find a receptive online audience, which then uses the assertions to raise doubts about the integrity of American elections.”

The next morning, Konnech executive Eugene Yu was arrested for the alleged theft of poll workers’ personal information.

School board members reported a police detective to her employer and the U.S. Department of Justice for showing “disrespect,” making “over dramatic” comments about COVID-19 school policies and threatening to sue the district if it kept interrupting her at board meetings.

According to the lawyer for Michigan’s Chippewa Valley Schools, the elected school board members were just exercising their First Amendment rights as private citizens, and the board had no involvement.

Sandra Hernden filed a First Amendment retaliation lawsuit against the school board and members Frank Bednard and Elizabeth Pyden, seeking to remove qualified immunity from the individual public officials for violating “a clearly defined constitutional right.”

The Opening of the American Mind

by Diana West

[…]

This is Thomas Guerra, Dirt Cowboy’s owner. Notice the early spring daffodils? This forces me to confess how long I have been meaning to write this story; but it also shows everyone what a special ornament the café is to Main Street. The flower carts outside change with the season.

There’s something even more special inside — something you will not find anywhere else around.

Come on in and take a look.

From the flavor shots on the shelf to the pastries behind glass to the beans in burlap bags to the deep and rich aroma (you’ll have to take my word on that but you can order your own here), you might think you’re looking at the typical chi-chi coffee shop that college towns depend on for their caffeinated sustenance.

But what’s that behind the counter, above Guerra’s head? No, not the Espresso Bar options or Hot Beverages menu, but that blonde with the dead eyes. Why, it’s Deborah Birx!

The caption:

On December 15, 2020, she told ABC: “This is one of the most highly effective vaccines we have in our infectious disease arsenal.”

However, on July 22, 2022, she told Fox: These vaccines were not going to protect against infection. And I think we overplayed the vaccines.”

Birx lied, people died.

But wait a minute, hold on. This is Dartmouth, this is Hanover, where the “covid” “vaccine” is still king, where the monkey pox vaccine is offered to “eligible students,” where faculty, staff, and students to this day are vaxxed and boosted within 30 days of CDC-ordained eligibility.

Catching Birx out as a liar on an Ivy League town capuccino menu? Why, that’s almost as bad as criticizing St. Anthony Fauci himself! (More on that below.)

After a bit, the menu screen changes. Debby-Downer’s face is gone, and epigrams appear from a pantheon of luminaries, past and present.

In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.

— Galileo Galilei.

Trust yourself, not “the science.”

Another quotation from Galileo, after being forced to recant his assertion that the earth moves around the sun.

“Eppur si muove.”

(“And yet, it moves.”)

Defiance in the face of the coercive state.

Civil disobedience becomes a sacred duty when the state has become lawless or corrupt. And a citizen who barters with such a state shares in its corruption and lawlessness.

— Mohatma Gandhi

Clearly, this is all more bracing than coffee, if any of the college kids at the counter are paying attention. Now, take another look at the photo above. What’s behind the guy in the Patagonia t-shirt, just above the shelves lined with bags of fresh roasted coffee beans?

It may be hard to believe your eyes (and, alas, rubbing them won’t change the fuzzy focus), but, yes, those really are copies of The Real Anthony Fauci by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Or, as The Dartmouth newspaper put it in its story on same, “by anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr.” What more sure-fire way to trigger mentally locked down and very recently social-distanced Ivy League elites than to display the NYT-ignored but NYT-best-selling expose of evil itself? Guerra knows he lost a few customers, at least at the beginning, but he was resolved to provide people with an opportunity to expand their understanding of events.

Over two million copies of RFK Jr.’s Fauci book have been sold, but it is not to be found anywhere else in Hanover, NH — and that includes the college library and town bookshop.

But the book alone is not what makes Dirt Cowboy Café unique. Rather, it is dedication to presenting the censored side of a life-or-death debate that we as a country have never had over the rise of the biosecurity state. Of course, debate was the first thing to go under the new regime unveiled by Big Tech, Big Pharma, Big Government and Big Media. Elites, such as those who teach and study and buy coffee at Dartmouth, were and remain willing accomplices to this assault on free thought.

Since Dirt Cowboy is Tom Guerra’s livelihood and not a debating society, it took courage to make his café an outpost of dissenting ideas. Note well that the resource-rich liberal arts campus across the street never sought to foster one. That such an ideas-vaccuum existed — and probably exists in every other American college town — is further proof of the strangled state of public debate today. Not that we need further proof.

When the press attempted to ask questions, Biden’s face betrayed a look of pure hatred, before he began smirking as they were forced out.

Weapons: Homemade Explosive Devices Found in Henry County Home Search, Authorities Say

Deputies were making an arrest when they noticed weapons inside of the home, the Sheriff said

BASSETT, Va. — Henry County authorities found homemade explosive devices and several weapons in a home when arresting a man on Tuesday.

On Tuesday around 10:10 p.m., Henry County authorities said they were arresting Barry Witt in the Bassett area for two outstanding warrants for contempt of court.

The Sheriff’s Office said when they were arresting Witt, the deputies noticed a weapon in the residence, which they say Witt is not qualified to have.

Officers issued another warrant for ‘Purchase, Possess, Transport Firearm by a person Involuntarily Committed,’ then obtained a search warrant for the home, the Sheriff said.

Several weapons were found during the search, authorities said, along with three items they believed to be explosive devices.

Virginia State Police was called to assist with the devices, and State Police Bomb Technicians safely removed them before defusing what authorities said were homemade explosive devices.

Liberals Have Spent $3.7m on Gun Buyback Without Purchasing One Firearm

The Liberal government has spent millions on its federal gun buyback scheme despite not yet buying a single firearm from law-abiding gun owners.

“This is more evidence that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s gun ban and buyback is going to be another taxpayer boondoggle,” said CTF Federal Director Franco Terrazzano.

Finland Removes Last Public Lenin Statue

The last public statue of Lenin has been removed in Finland, local news portal Yle reported on Tuesday.

The bust was located in a central park next to a wooden house in the port city of Kotka, a town of 52,000 people near the Russian-Finnish border. Tradition has it that Lenin himself, later the founder of the Bolshevik party, once stayed in the chalet for a time. The statue was hoisted onto a truck by workers from a construction company and transported to the local museum warehouse.

The statue of Lenin was brought to Kotka in 1979 as a gift from the port city’s sister city Tallinn in Estonia. Although it has been vandalized several times over the decades, the municipality has only now decided to have it removed in response to local public pressure. The decision was probably influenced by the fact that, since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, several other countries have decided to remove similar monuments left over from Soviet times. The bust was created by an Estonian sculptor, Matti Varik.

What Giorgia Meloni Thinks Today, The World Leadership Has to Think Tomorrow

Unless, Biden-Modi-Putin-Truss-Trudeau-Macron-Scholz-Herzog-Others find an unity in the line of Meloni, even God Almighty will fail to save this civilization from making an Islamic state worldwide.

Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | Haridwar | Oct 5, 2022:: Obviously, the Europe and America including the other parts of the world are under the dangerous aggression of radical Islam.

Leaders of some of the Nations are thinking seriously about it. But the newly elected Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni surpasses all in this matter for being unequivocal to express the upcoming new govt policy to control the radical Islam in her country.

Eminent scholar Tarek Fatah has shared a video of Giorgia Meloni in his twitter account, in which Meloni is seen talking about Muslims and Mosques policy to be implemented in Italy.

Form the available video it is known that Meloni wants to crack down the growing Islamic fundamentalism in Italy.

“We are in Marciano, Umbria in an area where a new mosque is about to be built. We’re here to say no to the creation of new mosques. No mosque until we pass the new law regulating norms for citizen’s safety drafted by Brothers of Italy. We want a professional register for Imams to be instituted. We want to know what kind of people preach in mosques. We want all sermons to be given in Italian, since we are in Italy and the official language is Italian so anyone can understand. And we want to know who funds these cultural centers and mosques. Because it’s no mystery that most centers are funded by fundamentalist countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia… countries where the death penalty is applied for apostasy, the death penalty is applied for homosexuality, stoning for adulterers, zero rights for women. Well… it deals with the (Islamic) models we wouldn’t want to be advertised in our country. And we don’t want a law that establishes the crime of Islamic fundamentalism. Unfortunately, Islamic fundamentalism is a reality we face on a daily basis. We have seen that in recent weeks. We saw a person who was nearly slaughtered for wearing a cross, and evidently someone was bothered by the fact that in Italy you can wear a cross. So, we are asking for more safety for our citizens and asking government not to allow new mosques until our draft law is passed”. —— the video surfaced the statement of Giorgia Meloni.

Georgia Meloney on Mosque

As Meloni is able to find the right points about the aggression of Islam in her country which is really a threat to the safety of the Italian citizens, the same thing must be realized by the world leaders facing the Jihad reality in various forms causing danger to the human civilization.

Declaring an end to dole policy, Melony was seen to be strictest to the Muslim immigrants and refugees in the country.

The most important thing is that she is going to end the minimum wage policy.

Her party says, Italians are paying taxes and these Bangladeshi, Libyans, Syrians who are having fun under minimum wages policy.

In addition to that, the policy of the Italian government for which it has been paying 700 euro per child, is about to close under new regulations.

The Brothers of Italy party says, “Italy is not a child-raising country that you keep giving birth to 10-12 children one after another and Italian tax money to you 700 euro per child we pay as a living allowance. Also we are going to stop the unemployment allowance”.

The world is now facing a greater challenge to combat the Radical Islam coming as avalanches to end the existence of all non-Muslims ceaselessly.

The standpoint and thinking of Meloni can change the scenario of Islamic aggression with a success if the world leaders support the same to keep this word Jihad free.

As it poses a challenge for the survival of the non-Muslims (they say infidel), the Hindu-Christian-Jew and all leaders should come together to fight against Jihadi Islam.

Unless, Biden-Modi-Putin-Truss-Trudeau-Macron-Scholz-Herzog-Others find an unity in the line of Meloni, even God Almighty will be unable to save this civilization from making an Islamic state worldwide.

Taliban: Mosque Blast at Interior Ministry in Kabul Kills 4

KABUL, Afghanistan — (AP) — A suicide bomber struck at a center of Taliban power Wednesday, setting off a blast at a government ministry in the Afghan capital of Kabul. At least four people were killed, a Taliban official said.

The afternoon explosion took place as workers and visitors were praying inside a mosque of Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry, which is responsible for security and law enforcement in the country. The ministry is on Kabul’s main road next to Kabul International Airport, and is in its own fortified compound.

A Taliban-appointed spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Nafi Takor, said in a tweet: “Unfortunately this afternoon, around 1:30 pm, there was an explosion in a sub mosque at the Ministry of Interior, as a result four worshippers were martyred and 25 others were wounded. The incident is under investigation, we will share the details with the media when it is done.”

He said earlier that the blast happened as ministry workers and visitors were praying.

Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the explosion, but the Islamic State group affiliate in Afghanistan, the chief rival of the Taliban, has been waging a campaign of violence targeting the Taliban and minority Shiites that has intensified since the Taliban took power in August 2021.
