According to the AAA, the National Average Gas Price on October 1, 2022 is $3.80.

California lead the nation in price at $6.358 per gallon. That’s more than double the price paid in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Its nearly double the price paid in eight other states.

“Globalists Are Marching Us Relentlessly Toward Nuclear Armageddon, “ Warns Former Senator

Fears of nuclear war are increasing across the West as Russia mobilizes hundreds of thousands of troops and declares annexation of parts of Ukraine. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is applying for membership in NATO. These two developments could be the most significant escalation since the war’s start.

Today’s developments are a sobering reminder that nuclear war threats are mounting. Retired Virginia State Senator and retired Marine Col. Richard Black addressed members of the US Congress in an open letter on Tuesday about “globalists are marching us relentlessly toward this nuclear Armageddon.”

Behemoth 1000 Pound Pumpkins Drop From 100 Feet and Explode at Bauman’s Giant Pumpkin Drop

Two behemoth pumpkins, one over 600 pounds and another over 1,000 pounds, were dropped from a 100-foot tall crane into an inflatable pool full of apples Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, in Gervais, Oregon.

The event, called Bauman’s Giant Pumpkin Drop, took place at Bauman’s Farm and Garden after a giant pumpkin weigh-off. Hundreds of people watched as the pumpkins exploded into the pool making massive splashes and leaving a giant pumpkin “soup” that kids were later allowed to explore and play with.

If you’re interested in seeing pumpkins between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds, they are on display during Bauman’s Harvest Festival. They also have a produce market, bakery, garden center, petting zoo and hayrides.

Enemies List? Fed-Backed Censorship Machine Targeted 20 News Sites

The private consortium that reported election “misinformation” to tech platforms during the 2020 election season, in “consultation” with federal agencies, targeted several news organizations in its dragnet.

Websites for Just the News, New York Post, Fox News, Washington Examiner, Washington Times, Epoch Times and Breitbart were identified among the 20 “most prominent domains across election integrity incidents” that were cited in tweets flagged by the Election Integrity Partnership and its collaborators.

The Washington Post, New York Times and CNN also appeared on the list, though the consortium’s after-action report emphasizes most of the mainstream media reports “were referenced as fact-checks” that played a “corrective role” against “misleading narratives.”

FBI Agents Improperly Saw Privileged Trump Communications: Lawyers

Authored by Zachary Stieber via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours)

The FBI team that seized documents from former President Donald Trump’s Florida resort improperly viewed communications between Trump and an attorney, violating attorney-client privilege for a third time, lawyers for Trump said in a new filing.

The filter process set up by the government to try to prevent FBI agents from viewing privileged materials has already failed twice, the government has acknowledged. On Sept. 26, government officials informed Trump lawyers of a third failure, the lawyers said in a new filing lodged in a federal court in southern Florida.

FBI agents viewed an email that they sent to the Privilege Review Team, a team that was supposed to filter out all potentially privileged materials before agents were able to view any.

The review team has characterized the email as non-privileged, but Trump disagrees.

Officials: Deputies Fatally Shoot N.C. Hostage-Taker

MOUNTAIN VIEW, N.C. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies in North Carolina fatally shot an armed man who had taken a relative hostage, authorities said Saturday.

Neither the hostage nor law enforcement officials were injured in the incident Saturday morning in the Catawba County community of Mountain View, TV station WSOC reported.

A call came in about the hostage situation around 6:30 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Crisis negotiators and deputies responded and tried to de-escalate the situation, but the suspect continued to threaten the hostage, who was an adult male family member, the news release said. Deputies fatally shot the hostage-taker, who was armed with a handgun. EMS workers provided treatment, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The hostage’s “life was in danger,” Capt. Aaron Turk with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office told the TV station. “We took action that we felt was necessary to save the hostage and bring the situation to an end.”

Sheriff Don Brown said in a statement that his department would fully cooperate with the State Bureau of Investigation as they conduct an investigation.

South Carolina Grapples With Storm Damage as Florida Searches for Survivors

Saturday promised to reveal Hurricane Ian’s true impact in South Carolina after the storm’s second landfall, while rescuers continued to comb hard-hit Florida, where record river flooding was expected.

At least 73 people have died in the storm in Florida and four in North Carolina, according to state officials and an NBC News count.

Ian made landfall in South Carolina as a Category 1 storm on Friday afternoon and has since been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone.

The National Hurricane Center said in an advisory Saturday that the storm would continue to weaken near the border of North Carolina and Virginia throughout the day, adding that it would weaken even more through Sunday. Still, officials have warned that Ian and its aftermath pose a grave danger, with warnings of flash flooding across parts of both states.

And Ian is expected to produce between 3 to 6 inches of rainfall on Saturday across parts of North Carolina and West Virginia.

More than 1.3 million customers in Florida were without power early Saturday, three days after Ian slammed into the state. In South Carolina, more than 63,000 homes and businesses were without power after the hurricane hit. Throughout the day, power came back slowly in these states as rescue efforts continued in Ian’s wake.

Baltic Nord Stream 2 Pipeline No Longer Leaking Natural Gas, Says Denmark

Denmark’s Energy Agency says one of the two ruptured pipelines in the Baltic Sea appears to have stopped leaking natural gas.

On Twitter, the agency said it had been told by the company operating Nord Stream 2 that pressure appeared to have stabilised, indicating that gas is no longer escaping from the pipeline.

Earlier this week Denmark and Sweden told the United Nations Security Council that the leaks were caused by “at least two detonations” with “several hundred kilos” of explosives.

President Vladimir Putin on Friday accused the West of sabotaging the Russia-built pipelines, a charge vehemently denied by the United States and its allies.

In Washington, US President Joe Biden dismissed Putin’s pipeline claims as outlandish.

German Households Are Burning Through Gas Too Quickly, Warns Agency Head

Germans are reportedly using too much gas and ignoring political appeals to reduce consumption, after the Federal Network Agency reported last week that gas consumption was 14.5 percent above the September average for the past four years.

The news prompted the head of the agency, Klaus Müller, to issue a threat to private households, arguing they are using too much gas.

“Regardless of what the weather is like: We need savings of at least 20 percent across all areas,” the former Green Party politician told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung daily, adding that otherwise, Germany will not get through the winter without a gas shortage.

Greece-Bulgaria Pipeline Starts Operations to Boost Non-Russian Gas Flows

Greece and Bulgaria have started commercially operating a long-delayed gas pipeline, which will help decrease southeast Europe’s dependence on Russian gas and boost energy security.

The 182-kilometre pipeline will provide a relief to Bulgaria, which has been struggling to secure gas supplies at affordable prices since the end of April, when Russia’s Gazprom cut off deliveries over Sofia’s refusal to pay in roubles.

Russia has decreased its gas deliveries to Europe after the West imposed sanctions on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine, leaving European Union countries scrambling to secure alternative supplies amid surging prices.

The European Commission president welcomed the pipeline’s launch on Saturday, which she said was key to breaking away from Russian energy.

Russian Gas Stops Flowing to Italy After ‘Problem’ In Austria

Russian energy giant Gazprom PJSC suspended natural gas deliveries to Eni SpA, Italy’s largest oil company, on Saturday, reported Bloomberg.

“Gazprom informed that it is not able to confirm the gas volumes requested for today, stating that it’s not possible to supply gas through Austria. Therefore, today’s Russian gas supplies to Eni through the Tarvisio entry point will be at zero. Eni will provide updates in case supplies will be restored,” Eni wrote in a statement on its website.

An Eni spokesperson told Bloomberg that Austria is still receiving NatGas from Gazprom:

“We are working to check with Gazprom whether it is possible to reactivate the flows to Italy.”

Gazprom said NatGas flows from Austria to Italy were suspended because the Austrian operator refused to confirm “transport nominations” after recent regulatory changes in the landlocked country in the southern part of Central Europe.

US Helicopters Circled Over Nordstream for Weeks

More and more disturbing details are coming to light in connection with the bombing of the Nordstream pipeline in the Baltic Sea.

The Arabic news channel Al Mayadeen reported that weeks before the attack, US helicopters were circling over the sea area where the fatal explosions took place on September 26 with a striking frequency.

This can be reconstructed using the flight data from the online service “Flightradar24”. According to this, at the beginning of September, just under a month before the attack, a US Navy Sikorsky MH-60R “Seahawk” helicopter was circling for hours on several consecutive days — especially on September 1, 2 and 3 later over the area of the damaged natural gas pipelines not far from the island of Bornholm.

According to the aircraft tracking portal, the US helicopter flew from Gdansk to the area where the Nordstream pipelines were several times.

Russian Troops Pull Out of Lyman as Ukraine Forces Enter — and Other Key Stories

1. Russian troops withdraw from Lyman as Ukraine forces enter town

Ukrainian forces entered the eastern Russian stronghold of Lyman on Saturday after encircling thousands of Russian troops, Kyiv has said.

Moscow has confirmed that its forces have left the town it had been using as a front-line supply hub. The state-owned RIA Novosti agency quoted the Russian defence ministry as saying that “due to the threat of encirclement”, Russian soldiers had “retreated to more advantageous lines”.

The capture of Lyman, a bastion that is critical for Moscow, would be a major setback for Moscow after President Vladimir Putin proclaimed the annexation of the Donetsk region — where Lyman is situated — along with three other regions on Friday.

“We’re already in Lyman, but there are battles,” Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesperson for Ukraine’s eastern forces, said.

Two grinning Ukrainian soldiers taped the yellow-and-blue national flag on to the “Lyman” welcome sign at the town’s entrance in Donetsk region’s north, a video posted by the president’s chief of staff showed.

Hundreds in Bangkok Protest Court Ruling Allowing Thai PM to Stay in Office

BANGKOK — Anti-government demonstrators took to the streets in Thailand’s capital Saturday following a court ruling allowing Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha to stay in office.

Around 500 demonstrators gathered at Bangkok’s Victory Monument to protest the decision.

Background ruling

Prayut, 68, is a former Royal Thai Army officer who led a military coup in Thailand in 2014 and has been in power since. In 2017 a new constitution was drafted by the military, limiting a prime minister’s time in the job to only eight years.

In August, Thai opposition political parties filed cases with Thailand’s Constitutional Court arguing that the prime minister’s time in the job should have ended this year, saying his term began with the coup takeover.

But after suspending Prayut to review the case, the court Friday ruled in favor of the prime minister, stating his term as the head of the government had not exceeded its limit. It ruled 6-3 that Prayut’s time in charge began August 6, 2017, a day after the new constitution took effect.

    • He could go to the taiga. Or go to jail. For refusal to mobilize give from 3 to 10 years in prison. Putin doesn’t have that much time.
This is psychosis. I know several people who fled to Kazakhstan, although they are not subject to military conscription.
I think they will soon begin to kill those who carry the draft cards.

    • In WWII, some draftees resorted to going to their family podiatrist to have a foot professionally broken to avoid defending the USA against the Nazis. During Vietnam, 210,000 men fled to Canada for the same reason while others. like Biden, used family doctors to get exempting medical excuses.
