‘20 Quid for a Pint!?’ UK Pubs Forced to Hike Prices or Die

Thousands of UK pubs face closure this winter as soaring electricity bills signifies cost pressures will render the businesses uneconomical to operate. The question is, at what price does a pub need to charge a pint of beer to become profitable?

That question was answered by Tom Stainer, the chief executive of real campaign group CAMRA, who told the Daily Star that parabolic electricity prices suggest pubs would need to hike a pint of beer about 500% from 5 pounds to a “ridiculous” 15-20 pounds.

Stainer said a “perfect storm” of energy hyperinflation “will affect just about every pub out there.”

Czech PM Blames Russian Propaganda for Mass Protests in Prague

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala is blaming pro-Russian forces for mass demonstrations this weekend that saw tens of thousands of people protest against the government, the European Union and NATO amid soaring energy prices and inflation.

The “Czechia First” demonstration saw 70,000 people gather to protest the government in a development the Czech prime minister is blaming on elements influenced by Russian propaganda.

“It is clear that Russian propaganda and disinformation campaigns repeatedly appear on our territory and that someone is simply succumbing to them,” Fiala said, as reported by Euractiv.

Protesters, brought together by the Communist Party, the Freedom party, the Direct Democratic Party, and other groups labeled as “radical” — both far-left and far-right—called on the government to address soaring energy prices and the highest cost of living since the early 1990s for everything from housing to consumer goods.

Germany and Europe Set for Energy Rationing After Russian Gas Cuts

German gas importer Uniper has said that the country does not rule out undertaking gas rationing at some point following Russia’s decision to indefinitely halt gas flows via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

Uniper, Germany’s biggest importer of Russian gas, says it’s also considering legal action against Gazprom to compensate its shareholders for a 90% drop in the company’s market value following a sharp drop in Russian gas supply since June.

We cannot rule out that Germany might look at rationing gas as something that might have to be considered. We know that the government wants to avoid this as much as possible because that would be a disaster for so many reasons,” CEO Klaus-Dieter Maubach has told Reuters.

Europe’s gas prices surged 26% on Monday after Russia stopped pumping via Nord Stream 1, a major supply route to the continent.

UK Police Prepare for “Breakdown in Public Order” Caused by Cost of Living Crisis

Police in the UK are preparing for a widespread “breakdown in public order” caused by the cost of living crisis if new Prime Minister Liz Truss doesn’t authorize a big enough government handout.

After a huge spike next month, energy bills are set to soar to around £6,522 a year by next April, a level that threatens to push a third of the country into poverty.

A leaked national strategy paper obtained by the Times reveals that police chiefs fear “economic turmoil and financial instability” has the “potential to drive increases in particular crime types.”

Coal Miners Push Stranded DC Driver’s Dead Electric Car to Charge it Up at Coal Mine

Getting stuck on the side of the road may not be a new problem faced by motorists, but some car troubles sting a little more than others as one electric vehicle driving tourist learned Friday on the side of the road in West Virginia.

An unidentified driver was making his way to Davis, West Virginia for a Labor Day weekend getaway from Washington, D.C. Friday when he got stranded on the side of the road having exhausted the charge in the car’s battery. As it happened, the green energy dilemma befell the traveler within walking distance to the nearby Mettiki Coal access road in Tucker County, WV.

West Virginia state Sen. Randy Smith (R), who also happens to be the safety coordinator for Mettiki Coal documented as five of his fellow coal miners came to the aid of the motorist, pushing his car up to the guard shack to recharge his battery.

Judge Tosses Lawsuit by Hitler-Praising, TDS-Stricken Fired Yale Psychiatrist

A far-left psychiatry professor who sued Yale for firing her over unhinged comments she made against then-President Donald Trump, just had her lawsuit tossed by a federal judge, according to the Hartford Courant.

Lee argued that Yale fired her in response to a January 2020 tweet that characterized “just about all” Trump supporters as suffering from “shared psychosis,” and that Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz had “wholly taken on Trump’s symptoms by contagion.”

She also tweeted that Trump was “worse than Hitler,” and then when challenged, stuck her other foot in her mouth — tweeting “Donald Trump is not an Adolf Hitler. At least Hitler improved the daily life of his followers, had discipline, and required more than himself to gain the respect of his followers.”

Lee, herself clearly suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), used her Yale credentials to author a book, conduct interviews, and form a group — the “Independent Expert Panel for Presidential Fitness” — all aimed at taking down Trump over what they said was a lack of mental fitness.

Civil Liberties Protesters Can’t Pay Legal Fees After Bank Accounts Were Frozen by Trudeau Government

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government, freezing the bank accounts of freedom protesters in Canada is hindering due process as the civil liberties protesters are unable to pay their legal bills.

The organizers of the “Freedom Convoy” protest have asked a court to unfreeze $450,000 in donations so that they can pay for legal fees in the upcoming case challenging the legality of the invocation of the Emergencies Act.

To end the protests against COVID-19 measures, Trudeau’s government invoked, for the first time in history, the Emergencies Act. It allowed the government to order the police to use force against protesters. It also gave the government the authority to order financial institutions and crowdfunding sites to freeze the accounts of protesters, without the need for a warrant.

Hate Hoax in Germany: Green Politician Resigns After Inventing Nazi Death Threats Against Himself

The alleged death threats from neo-Nazis against Green politician Manoj Subramaniam have made headlines across Germany and led to tension in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s largest state by population. However, the councilor from Erkelenz staged the various threats in an elaborate scheme, according to the result of an investigation published by the public prosecutor’s office.

The 33-year-old, whose parents immigrated from Sri Lanka, had submitted numerous complaints. First, his car windows were smashed, and swastikas sprayed on the vehicle. Another time, he claimed SS runes and a swastika were drawn on the doorbell of his house. Then, he revealed that a swastika was scrawled on the sidewalk in front of his apartment and that he found razor blades in the mail. The politician also received death threats signed by NSU 2.0, referring to the National Socialist Underground (NSU) group that committed a number of murders across Germany for years.

One would think that when an unelected and unaccountable group like this decides to not merely offer its two cents on a topic but position itself as a de facto policymaker that wants to steer regulation and “ethics” standards — it would also be open to criticism.

But in thinking that, one would be wrong. It looks like the WEF can dish it out — but can’t really take it.

Zelensky Warns Zaporizhzhia ‘A Step Away From Radiation Catastrophe’ — Again

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, said a new cut-off of power connecting the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station to the national grid had placed the plant “a step away from a radiation catastrophe” again.

Mr Zelensky said Russian shelling was responsible.

Power at the Ukrainian plant was all but cut off on Monday for the second time in two weeks as Kyiv accused Moscow of pushing the war to the brink of nuclear catastrophe, one day before the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog was due to issue an assessment of the station.

The International Atomic Energy Agency said the plant’s backup power line had been cut to extinguish a fire, but that the line itself was not damaged and would be reconnected.

“Again — already for the second time — because of Russian provocation, the Zaporizhzhia station was placed one step away from a radiation catastrophe,” Mr Zelensky said in his nightly video message.

“The shelling of the (plant’s) territory means that the terrorist state does not care what the IAEA will say, it is not concerned about what the international community will decide.”

  1. “After a huge spike next month, energy bills are set to soar to around £6,522 a year by next April, a level that threatens to push a third of the country into poverty.

A campaign has started in the UK called “Don’t pay UK” urging people not to pay their heating bills. They are hoping to have 1 million refuseniks by 1 October.

This could be extended to include an embargo on taxes and other charges.

What would the UK, the EU and their handlers do if everyone refused to give them any more money? Could be promising.
