Analysts: Inflation Still Far From Peak in Hungary

Consumer prices rose 15.6% in August, breaking another 24-year record in Hungary. Food prices were the most affected by the increase. Most economic experts are not optimistic about the future, and it is difficult to predict the impact.

As an article in Vilaggazdasag points out, their analyst consensus forecast a higher rise with 16 percent for August. According to Gabor Regos, senior analyst at the Macronome Institute, the lower figure indicates that the impact of the tax hikes has already partly been reflected in the July data.

Polish Economy Slowing Down Warn Experts

Poland’s economy is slowing down, with a GDP drop to 2.7 percent expected in Q3 2022, after a drop from 8.5 to 5.3 percent in Q2, a state-owned think tank reported on Wednesday.

According to the Polish Economic Institute (PIE), by the end of Q4 inflation will be at 14.5 percent but should rise to 15.6 percent in February 2023 due to rising energy prices.

In July inflation increased by 15.6 percent year on year.

Atlantic Crucible of Hurricanes Having Quietest Year in Quarter Century

Despite climate change predictions, the Atlantic crucible of hurricanes is having its quietest year of the last quarter century.

The national oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA) predicted that above-average Atlantic temperatures would contribute to a hectic hurricane season in 2022.

The NOAA said the increased activity anticipated this hurricane season is because of several climate factors. This includes the “ongoing La Niña that is likely to persist throughout the hurricane season, warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, weaker tropical Atlantic trade winds and an enhanced west African monsoon.”

NYT’s Leonhardt: I’m ‘Skeptical’ About How Money to Address Learning Loss is Being Used, This Will be a ‘Lifelong’ Issue

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” New York Times Senior Writer David Leonhardt stated that the issue of learning loss from school closures during the coronavirus pandemic “will be a lifelong problem” for the current generation of children that amounts to “a decades-long debt to anyone who’s under the age of 20” and that he’s “skeptical about how well” money allocated to address learning loss by coronavirus relief spending packages is actually being used.

After MSNBC Contributor Mike Barnicle asked whether the learning loss story is undercovered and how we address learning loss going forward, Leonhardt discussed the lack of coverage of the issue. He added that the issue of learning loss is “a national crisis. … The stimulus, the pandemic rescue bill included a lot of money for catchup. I’m a little bit skeptical about how well that money’s being used. But, we’ll find out at some point. I think it’s important to remember that this generation of kids, this will be a lifelong problem. And this country, essentially, has a decades-long debt to anyone who’s under the age of 20 today because we disrupted their schooling in a way that none of us experienced. And that really is going to have long-term consequences. And we essentially owe those kids.”

Police Fatally Shoot Walled Lake Man Who Allegedly Killed Wife, Shot Daughter

Walled Lake — A Walled Lake man is dead after he shot and killed his wife and injured their daughter, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Police received a “chilling” 911 call at 4:11 a.m. Sunday from a 25-year-old woman who said her father had shot her and killed her mother, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. She could not give her exact address but said she was in Glenwood Court.

Peckford Defends Danielle Smith’s Sovereignty Law

So short of invoking the Clarity Act involving a process of separation from Canada, Alberta must put on its bargaining shoes and, with the other Provinces and the Federal Government, come up with a new, more flexible agreement for sharing that reflects ever-changing economic and fiscal realities across the country. I hope the Sovereignty Act action is that first bargaining chip.” wrote former NL premier Brian Peckford.

Peckford, who served as the third premier of Newfoundland, and the last surviving premier who signed the Constitution in 1982, sent out an email in defense of United Conservative leadership candidate Danielle Smith’s proposed Alberta Sovereignty Act.

Alberta feels particularly aggrieved in that its oil and gas resources, which are under the Province, have resulted in huge revenues to the Province and there has over time been an imbalance in how much Alberta pays into the Federal Government and how much it gets back…Danielle Smith’ s proposed Sovereignty Act I see as the manifestation of this frustration”

Tech Executives Urge Senate to Slow “Disastrous” Bill C-11

Executives from YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify are urging the Senate to slow the passage of the Trudeau government’s censorship law Bill C-11 in a letter obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter to the Senate transport and communications committee.

“We urge this committee to pause,” read the submission by the Digital Media Association. The group argues that Bill C-11 “will have a significant impact on music streaming services.”

“Together these services connect millions of fans across Canada and around the world with tens of millions of songs and podcasts providing unique listening experiences,” wrote the association. “Bill C-11 attempts to impose a system of regulation that is designed for traditional broadcasters onto streaming services.”

“Imposing this antiquated system onto innovative streaming services in an era of consumer choice, where there are no gatekeepers to content as there are in the broadcasting context, is the wrong approach,” wrote the association.

“Nothing to Do With Man” — Astrophysicist Says Climate-Cultists “Are on a Gravy Train” To Make Money

This year’s heat waves and subsequent droughts resulted in the hottest summer in recorded European history, according to a report by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) — an EU-funded Earth observation agency.

“We’ve not only had record August temperatures for Europe, but also for the summer, with the previous summer record only being one year old,” said Freja Vamborg, a senior scientist at the Copernicus Climate Change Service.

Of course, this ‘record’ heat in the summer has prompted activists to trot out the same old tropes that this ‘confirms climate change’ is having a catastrophic effect on the world already. With the energy crisis facing Europe, this is not a particularly comfortable topic as numerous nations abandon — albeit apparently temporarily — their green policies in favor of not letting their citizenry starve or freeze.

Given that it’s all ‘settled science’, the following RT News anchor was probably expecting a rote response to his questions about climate change.

He was in for a big surprise…

Piers Corbyn — physicist, meteorologist, and elder brother of former UK Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn — explained to the shocked RT anchor that the climate “has always been changing, but this has nothing to do with man”.

Slava Raytheon: Zelensky to Headline Conference of US Defense Companies

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has throughout much of the six-month long Ukraine war been busy rallying support to his side by addressing dozens of Western countries’ parliaments, for which Ukraine has since been rewarded with billions of dollars in foreign defense and humanitarian aid.

His foremost theme has been a constant refrain of his military urgently needing more, more and more weapons. He’s even requested advanced fighter jets, months ago asking Congress to “close the skies” (or in essence a No Fly Zone).

Now for the first time it seems he’ll go straight to the source, as he’s set to be the keynote speaker, via video link, to a major meeting of American defense contractors later this month. The Hill is confirming that “he headlines the annual Future Force Capabilities Conference and Exhibition hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA)” in Austin, Texas on September 21.

‘These Attacks Have Racist, Religious Motives’: The Persecution of Christians, July 2022

The following are among the abuses Muslims inflicted on Christians throughout the month of July 2022:

The Muslim Abuse and Rape of Christian Women in Pakistan

After raping a Christian woman, her Muslim employer told her and her family—both still not over the shock—to get back to work. Rimsha Riaz, 18, and several others of her Christian household worked at a glass crushing company, where they were described as “hard-working loyal employees for Haji Ali Akbar, a successful Muslim businessman.” On July 6, after a tiring shift, as the family was preparing to go home, a supervisor told Rimsha to go to Akbar’s office for some extra paid work. Her mother and brothers returned home; Rimsha arrived an hour later, visibly distressed. When her mother pressed her as to what was wrong, the 18-year-old broke into tears and said she was raped by Akbar at gunpoint.

1 Dead, 39 Injured in Fireworks Blast at Mexican Celebration

MEXICO CITY (AP) — One person died and 39 were injured after a stray fireworks explosion at a town festival just west of Mexico City.

The township of Tianguistenco said Sunday the blast occurred late Saturday during an annual village celebration in San Nicolás Coatepec.

The municipal government said at least five people were in serious condition, and seven others were still hospitalized. The remaining 27 people injured in the blast were treated and released.

Video of the incident posted on social media appeared to show a fireworks-laden “torito,” or little bull, running through crowds.

The torito is a wood or wire framework with roman candles strapped to the outside, while someone operates it from the inside. The device may have set off another piece of fireworks, though powerful bottle rockets also appeared to be detonating at the same time.

One could also call it “population exchange or flooding”.

In this context, Orban expressly referred to the novel The Camp of the Saints by the French author Jean Raspail from 1973 in an interview with the German Tichys Einblick portal.

Thousands Protest Planned Pride Gathering in Serbia

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Thousands of opponents of a pan-European LGBTQ event planned for this week in Belgrade marched through the Serbian capital on Sunday despite an announced ban of Europe’s largest annual gay gathering.

The procession called by the conservative Serbian Orthodox Church and led by its clergy included anti-Western slogans as well as Russian flags and portraits of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After the march, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije held prayers at the main Saint Sava temple in Belgrade, saying “evil forces” want to “desecrate the purity of the family by imposing anti-God and unnatural unions as a substitute for marriage and family.”

Organizers of the EuroPride — which includes a week of events and a Pride march in Belgrade on Sept. 17 — have said they will ignore the police ban and hold the LGBTQ festivities.

  1. “A speeding Las Vegas woman who was high on cocaine collided with a car driven by a woman who was drunk and high on meth”

Reminds me of a “case” that happened on a lake here, two years ago, a small sailing boat collided with another sailing boat, and the guys called the police because the damage was rather significant, and the police found out that one pilot was stoned, and the other drunk by hard liquor. To this day, nobody understands why they called the police as the police fined them, and took their papers away, from both of them 🙂

    • Barn Swallow: Two drunk or high drivers or boat captains ought to cancel each other out and both should get a medal for stupidity. In the Las Vegas incident, one driver definitely won a medal; just not the kind anyone would want.

    • As written it reminds me of as a basis for a multitude of algebra problems. In the version of the problem where they are both high on pot, they never actually pass each other. In the version where they are high on pot and pcp, they never actually pass each other, one is killed in a police shootout and the other steals another car.

  2. “Zelensky Claims 3,000 Square km Recaptured”. Why this “claims” ? There are pictures and information on russian telegram channels supporting this. The russian ministry of defense itself said they are retreating (called as ‘regrouping’) from the Kharkiv region. The liberated territory as of today is over 8000 km2. This is north. In the south unofficial information is that 20 thousand russian group locked on the right side of Dnipro river is seeking to negotiate surrender terms. Russian channels fear imminent attack on Donetsk (east). Fear everywhere. Fast time.

  3. Poland’s mass migration is a disaster for young people. Unemployment, delayed careers, shortage of student accommodation so they can study. I have let a student use my apartment because they couldn’t find anything else. Rents have increased a lot. Who benefits?

  4. Everything that is happening in Ukraine makes me incredibly sad. Without falling into emotions, without taking either side, I see only one thing: the cleansing of the territory from the population.
As if the West and Putin are playing in unison. Moreover, it is the Russian-speaking population that is being purged.
These lands are very fertile, someone has their own views on them. It seems that after the Maidan (state coup) of 2014, Monsanta and others unfolded there. For whom Putin occupies these territories, I do not know.

The other day I came across this interview with Douglas Murray. Interview in French. Since I don’t know any language other than Russian, it doesn’t really matter to me what to read through Google Translate.
    https://www.fdesouche.com/2022/09/10/douglas-murray-les-antiracistes-sont-desormais-autorises-a-etre-racistes-a-legard-des-blancs/

The article is about how the West is surrounded.
And then it suddenly dawned on me: was it not for this that Russia was cut off from the Western World and Europe, so that it would be easier to destroy us separately?

In Russia, the ideas of Eurasianism, the author of which is Dugin, are being intensively implanted. Hm. In any case, retribution has already overtaken him.

Even in the last decade, I came across articles predicting how the European war with Islam would begin. http://www.snouts-in-the-trough.com/archives/20183

It will break out in Malmo and nationalists from all over Europe and Russia will go to fight. They won’t go anymore. Weapons from Ukraine will go to Europe.

    • Elena: Russia has always sought to emulate the west (that is, the upper tiers of Russian society have always looked toward Western Europe for culture and style), although Russia’s leaders have long covetted access to the Mediterranean Sea, to the Middle East, Central Asia, and Indo-Asia.

I cannot envision Russia’s higher society wanting to adopt any aspects of Asian culture. Russia’s eastern strategies have always been about securing land and sea access, historical fears of invasion from the eastern hordes, and playing geostrategic games against the US, and before that, Britain.

I doubt that Russians have suddenly taken a great liking to Chinese food.

    • I agree with your assessment. In my humble opinion, we are being “depopulated”. Not just Ukraine, or Russia, but the EU as well.

I feel sad for I found out the truth of the saying: “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. And those who learn from history are doomed to repeat it with them.”

It couldn’t be more clear that this war hurts ordinary Europeans, Ukrainians, and Russians the most. Yet – so many people swallow the official propaganda and cheer for war. I never thought I will live to see what it had been like back in 1913/14, when people swallowed all the propaganda and cheered for war.

It will be a quick war they said, will be back before the winter…

      The winter is coming.
