Mortgage Payment Holidays Prove Popular in Poland as 500,000 Already Claim to Defer Payments

The Polish government’s policy to introduce mortgage payment holidays to help consumers with the cost of living crisis have proven to be very popular in the country, with over 500,000 Polish families already claiming their mortgage payment holiday out of the approximately 2 million entitled to do so.

During a recent press conference, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki pointed to the fact that the government was actively helping borrowers by providing them with the right to suspend their mortgage payments to cope with the higher costs of mortgages caused by the increase in interest rates.

Poll: Almost 40% of Democrat Voters Say Democrats Have ‘Run the Economy Into the Ground’

A new poll from Rasmussen has found that a majority of voters agree that Democrats ran the economy “straight into the ground,” with close to a whopping 40 percent of Democrat voters agreeing that is the case.

The poll found that 85 percent of Republicans at least somewhat agree with the statement made by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell that “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for an historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.”

But the most startling finding is that a majority of 57 percent of unaffiliated voters agree, and even 38% of Democratic voters agree with 23% who ‘Strongly Agree’.

Beto O’Rourke Says Parents Shouldn’t be Afraid of Critical Race Theory

Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke, who has promised during his campaign to back teachers, said that teachers should have the autonomy to decide on what “version of history” is taught in a classroom, according to footage highlighted Wednesday.

“We don’t need to tell [a teacher] what version of history she is allowed to teach in a classroom. We don’t need to scare the parents of those kids… about something called CRT (critical race theory) that I’ve never heard of before last year,” O’Rourke said.

Breonna Taylor: US Police Charged Over Shooting Death

Four US police officers have been arrested and charged over the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor.

Ms Taylor was killed in her home in Louisville, Kentucky, on 13 March 2020 by plainclothes police who were executing a “no-knock” search warrant.

The hospital worker, 26, was shot as officers stormed the apartment just after midnight while she was with her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.

Her death sparked racial injustice protests around the country.

Federal investigators say that three of the four officers conspired to falsify the arrest warrant that led to Ms Taylor’s death.

Only one officer involved in the raid — former Louisville detective Brett Hankinson — had been previously charged over the case. He was the only one of the four charged on Thursday who was present at the scene of Ms Taylor’s shooting.

Mr Hankinson, who fired 10 shots during the incident, was acquitted by a jury earlier this year of endangering Ms Taylor’s neighbours when some of the bullets he fired entered their home.

Replacement for Ousted San Francisco DA Boudin Revokes 30 Plea Offers for Drug Cases

The San Francisco district attorney who has replaced ousted progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin has reportedly revoked 30 plea offers for drug cases made by her predecessor.

Boudin, a Democrat, was removed from office in June in a voter recall election, in residents’ response to his progressive policies including efforts to end cash bail and offering defendants the opportunity to enter a rehabilitation program over prison.

Jenkins’s office said one of the plea offers that she took back was for a case in which a defendant had six open cases for dealing fentanyl and was arrested with more than 100 grams of the drug, The Hill also reports.

Texas Jury Orders Alex Jones to Pay $4 Million to Sandy Hook Family in Defamation Suit

A Texas jury Thursday ordered Infowars founder Alex Jones to pay $4 million to the family of a Sandy Hook shooting victim for claiming that the massacre never happened.

The jury has yet to decide on the amount Jones must pay in punitive damages, the Associated Press reported. The $4 million represents compensatory damages. Jones has previously said that any amount over $2 million would “sink” him.

Twenty students and six adults died in December 2012 massing shooting at Sand Hook Elementary School, in Newtown, Connecticut.

Following the shooting, Jones repeatedly claimed on his show that the massacre was “staged” by the U.S. government as a pretense for gun confiscation. He claimed that the parents and families of the victims were “crisis actors” being paid for their performance.

He has since apologized and did so again this week in court.

Part of Beirut’s Giant Silos Collapses, 2 Years After Blast

BEIRUT — A large block of Beirut’s giant port grain silos, shredded by a massive explosion two years ago, collapsed on Thursday as hundreds marched in the Lebanese capital to mark the second anniversary of the blast that killed scores.

The northern block of the silos, consisting of four towers, had been slowly tilting for days before it collapsed, causing a huge cloud of dust. The silos had shielded Beirut’s western neighborhoods in the Aug. 4, 2020 explosion that killed nearly 220 people, injured over 6,000 and caused damage worth billions of dollars.

Thursday’s collapse of roughly a fourth of the structure occurred an hour before hundreds of people were to gather outside the facility to mark the 2nd anniversary of the disaster. Authorities had evacuated parts of the port earlier this week — after an initial section of the silos collapsed on Sunday — as a precautionary measure and there was no indication that anyone was hurt.

The 50 year-old, 48 meter (157 feet) tall silos had withstood the force of the 2020 explosion that destroyed much of the port. Many in Lebanon, including families of the victims, have been demanding that the silos be kept for future generations as a testament to a blast they say was caused by widespread corruption and mismanagement in the small Mediterranean nation…

Amnesty Accuses Ukraine of Basing Troops in Residential Areas, Angering Kyiv

KYIV (Reuters) — Human rights group Amnesty International accused Ukraine on Thursday of endangering civilians by basing troops in residential areas during Russia’s invasion in a report that Kyiv likened to Russian propaganda and disinformation.

Amnesty workers witnessed Ukrainian forces “establishing bases and operating weapons systems” in some populated residential areas during visits to several frontline areas in Ukraine’s east and south from April to July, the report said.

“We have documented a pattern of Ukrainian forces putting civilians at risk and violating the laws of war when they operate in populated areas,” the report quoted Agne’s Callamard, Amnesty International’s secretary general, as saying.

She called on the Ukrainian government to ensure that its forces were located away from populated areas or for all civilians to be evacuated from those areas first…

Biden, Pelosi Blast Griner’s 9-Year Sentence as “Unacceptable, Unjust” & Demand Putin Release Her Immediately

Update(1540ET): The White House as well as Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are out with separate statements condemning Thursday’s Russian court sentencing of WNBA start Brittney Griner. She received a harsh nine years in detention (as well as the equivalent of a $16,000 fine), to be served at a Russian prison colony, assuming the US doesn’t finalize a prisoner swap, said to be focus of ongoing behind the scenes negotiations with the Kremlin.

President Biden reiterated in his statement that she’s been wrongfully detained. “It’s unacceptable, and I call on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife, loved ones, friends, and teammates,” Biden stressed. “My administration will continue to work tirelessly and pursue every possible avenue to bring Brittney and Paul Whelan home safely as soon as possible.”

Pelosi slammed the “unjust” sentencing while on her trip in Seoul, South Korea, saying, “The wrongful detainment and unjust sentencing of Brittney Griner are brazen and unacceptable violations of the rule of law by Putin. Russia must release her immediately.”

China Fires Missiles Near Taiwan After Pelosi Visit

China has fired missiles near Taiwan as part of huge military drills following a visit by senior US politician Nancy Pelosi to the island.

Taiwan said China launched 11 ballistic missiles into waters around Taiwan’s north-east and south-west coasts.

Japan said five Chinese missiles landed in its waters as well, calling for an “immediate stop” to the exercises.

China saw the visit, by the US house speaker Mrs Pelosi, as a challenge to its claims of sovereignty over Taiwan.

It sees Taiwan as a breakaway province that will eventually be brought under its control — by force if necessary.

The US, for its part, does not officially recognise Taiwan, which has for all practical purposes been independent since 1950. However, Washington maintains a strong relationship with the island — which includes selling weapons for Taiwan to defend itself…

White House Orders US Carrier Strike Group to Stay Near Taiwan Longer Than Planned, Says China ‘Overreacting’

Update(1718ET): The United States says it’s watching ongoing Chinese military drills around Taiwan very closely, while condemning the latest series of ballistic missiles fired over the island as a severe provocation and escalation. The White House has ordered the Ronald Reagan carrier strike group to stay in the area.

US National Security Council (NSC) spokesman John Kirby said in statements to MSNBC Thursday: “We’ve been watching this very, very closely. It’s concerning. It’s not just concerning to us, but it’s concerning, of course, to the people of Taiwan. It’s concerning to to our allies in the region, especially Japan.”

“The provocateur here is Beijing. They didn’t have to react this way to what is completely normal travel by congressional members to Taiwan…The Chinese are the ones who are escalating this,” Kirby added. He warned further, “One of the things that’s troublesome about exercises like this or missile launches like this is the risk of calculation, the risk of a mistake that could actually lead to some sort of conflict,” he said.

Teenager Among Eight Models Gang-Raped in South Africa Describes Horrific Attack and How She and Her Sister Had Their Virginity ‘Stolen’ By Men Who Raped Black Models But Left White Women Alone

A teenager who was among eight models viscously gang-raped by an armed gang of illegal miners in South Africa while they were shooting a music video has described the horrific attack and told how she and her sister had their virginity ‘stolen’ by the men.

Nombosino, 19, whose name has been changed, and her 21-year-old sister had accepted a £15 a day job to model in a gospel music video when they were ambushed by the gang near an abandoned gold mine close to Krugersdorp on July 28.

The teenager, who feared for her life at the hands of the heavily armed gang, told how the men raped the black and Indian women but left the three white women who were among the 22-strong production crew alone.

The models and crew, the youngest of whom was 19 and the eldest 37, were raped up to ten times each over several hours by the criminals.

Another 200 Migrants Arrive in UK After Being Caught Trying to Cross the Channel in Small Boats With More on Way as 2022 Arrivals Total Soars Past a Record 17,000

Another 200 migrants arrived in the UK today after being caught trying to cross the English Channel in a small boat.

A total of 39 migrants made the crossing on Tuesday in one boat, but no crossings were recorded on Wednesday, according to figures from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Almost 700 people made the dangerous journey on Monday, the busiest day for Channel crossings so far this year, as the total soared past a record 17,000.

They were taken to the Port of Ramsgate due to concerns about traffic around the Port of Dover.

The cumulative number of crossings this year now stands at a provisional total of 17,134.

Border Force ship Hurricane brought around 40-50 people, including a small number of children, into Dover on Thursday morning, and activity in the Channel suggested there would be more later in the day.

  2. Ukraine rages against Amnesty report

    Published 5 August 2022

Ukrainian forces are targeting civilians by setting up bases and using weapons systems in populated residential areas, according to Amnesty International. This includes the use of schools and hospitals, according to a new report that has the government in Kiev turning red.

Between April and July, Amnesty investigators spent several weeks in the Kharkiv, Donbass and Mykolaiv regions investigating Russian attacks.

During these investigations, however, the organisation found evidence that Ukrainian forces endangered civilians by setting up bases in civilian buildings in 19 towns and villages. They have also fired from inside populated residential areas. The civilian buildings have included schools and hospitals, according to Amnesty.

The Russian attacks on populated areas where military bases have been established have both claimed civilian lives and destroyed civilian infrastructure, the organisation writes.

    – We have documented a pattern of Ukrainian forces endangering civilians and violating the laws of war when operating in populated areas. The fact that the Ukrainian military is in a defensive posture does not exempt it from the obligation to respect the laws of war,” said Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty, in a press release.

By “turning civilian objects into military targets”, the actions of the Ukrainian forces “violate international law and threaten the safety of civilians”, Amnesty writes.

The report provokes furious reactions from the Ukrainian government.

Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov calls the report a “perversion”, according to The Guardian.

Mychaylo Podoljak, adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, accuses Amnesty of taking part in a Russian campaign against Ukraine.

“It’s a shame that an organisation like Amnesty is taking part in this campaign of disinformation and propaganda,” he writes on Twitter

According to Amnesty, most of the residential areas where Ukrainian soldiers have been staying are several kilometres from the front line.

“There have thus been alternative military strategies that would not have endangered civilians – such as military bases or dense forest areas nearby, or other buildings further away from the residential areas. In the cases documented by Amnesty, there has been no evidence that the Ukrainian military, staying in civilian buildings in residential areas, would have encouraged or assisted civilians to evacuate nearby buildings. Ukraine has thus failed to take all necessary precautions to protect civilians,” the organisation writes.

    – The Ukrainian government should immediately ensure that it places its forces outside populated areas, or evacuates civilians from areas where the military is operating. Military personnel should never use hospitals to engage in combat, and should only use schools or civilian housing as a last resort where there are no other viable options,” says Agnès Callamard.

Men to be sentenced for “psychological abuse”
    Published 5 August 2022

    LAW & JUSTICE.
Government investigators are proposing to introduce a special offence of mental abuse, carrying up to four years’ imprisonment. The proposal is part of the government’s ambition to tackle “men’s violence against women”.

The investigator proposes that insulting someone could be included in, among other things, aggravated breach of the peace and aggravated assault on a woman.

It also proposes the introduction of a new offence, psychological abuse, into the Criminal Code.

The offence is aimed, inter alia, at anyone who “repeatedly subjects another person to degrading, insulting or otherwise offensive acts”. The proposed penalty is imprisonment for a maximum of four years.

    – Men’s violence against women can never be accepted and it is important that the legislation is comprehensive. That is why the report’s proposal is welcome,” says Minister of Justice and Home Affairs Morgan Johansson (S) in a statement.

The investigator proposes that the changes to the law should enter into force on 1 January 2024. The ministry memorandum will be circulated shortly.

The commission has been part of the government’s package of measures to “intensify work against men’s violence against women”. There is no mention of women’s violence against men in this context.

    • This is what happens when you let women vote and take charge of governments. Insanity reigns.

    Large American warship to Stockholm
    Published 5 August 2022

The American ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) is visiting Stockholm this weekend.

The ship is taking part in exercises in the Baltic Sea and – according to the Swedish Armed Forces – will stop in Stockholm as a routine visit.

The ship will arrive in Stockholm on Friday and leave on Monday. It will be berthed in Frihamnen.

The USS Arlington is a San Antonio-class amphibious assault ship that is used, among other things, to transport and land troops.

It is the third ship in the US Navy to be named after Arlington, Virginia, the site of the Pentagon defence headquarters. Like its sister ships, the USS New York and Somerset, the ship is named in memory of the attacks of 11 September 2001. [Ha-ha-ha!]

The ship participates in ongoing exercises with NATO and partner nations.

“Naval visits are conducted continuously to allow crews to rest and for the ships to stow food and other supplies after an extended period at sea. The Swedish Armed Forces have no planned joint exercises with the ship,” the Swedish Armed Forces wrote about the visit.

  5. I am a relatively recent Islamophobe, more precisely an Islamorealist. Since 2017.
Thanks to automatic translators, I found sites with publications on Islamic realism on the World Wide Web. Some I translated, some I put aside in the archive. The most interesting publications were during the 10th anniversary after 9/11.
And recently I discovered that most of the links are no longer active.
And the current generation of publicists looks rather pale compared to the past.
Baron, I suggest that you make archival publications on the topic of Islamic realism from time to time.

New generations are growing up, and information is getting harder and harder to find.
