Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/12/2022

The Pakistani-British writer Salman Rushdie was attacked with a knife onstage just before he was scheduled to give a talk at an event in Western New York State. He was stabbed in the neck and the abdomen, and his publicist says he will most likely lose the sight of one eye. He is reportedly on a ventilator now in the hospital. His alleged assailant, one Hadi Matar, was arrested immediately after the incident. Mr. Matar is said to be a supporter of the mullahs’ regime in Iran, and may possibly be a white supremacist.

In other news, a gunman massacred eleven people in the Montenegrin city of Cetinje before being shot dead by an alert citizen.

Germany: An Alarming Prediction

A top German official is predicting energy rationing riots that will make anti-lockdown unrest look like a “children’s birthday party” in comparison.

We’re not talking about energy price hikes. We’re not talking about people’s bills being more expensive.

We’re talking about the power being turned off completely, for God knows how long.

Author Salman Rushdie Stabbed in the Neck While on Lecture Stage in New York, Police Say

Salman Rushdie, the author whose writing led to death threats from Iran in the 1980s, was stabbed Friday as he was about to give a lecture in western New York, authorities said. Rushdie “suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck, and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital,” state police said in a statement.

The suspect was taken into custody by a state trooper assigned to the event, police said.

An Associated Press reporter witnessed a man storm the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and begin attacking Rushdie as he was being introduced. The 75-year-old author was pushed or fell to the floor, and the man was restrained…

Breaking: Trump Describes Process of How He Declassified Documents Found at Mar-a-Lago

Donald Trump’s office told Just the News on Friday that the classified materials the FBI seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate were declassified under a “standing order” while he was president that allowed him to take sensitive materials to the White House residence at night to keep working.

The official statement is likely to become the focus of the president’s legal defense as the FBI and Biden Justice Department investigate whether he stole records covered under the Presidential Records Act or mishandled classified materials under the Espionage Act, allegations included in a search warrant released by a federal court in Florida on Friday.

The president’s defense is rooted in the legal principal that the president and vice president are the ultimate declassifying authority of the U.S. government and through executive orders most recently issued in 2003 by George W. Bush and Barack Obama in 2009 that specifically exempt the president and vice president from having to follow the stringent declassification procedures every other federal agency and official must follow.

CDC Eases COVID Guidelines Saying Virus is ‘Here to Stay’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced changes to their Covid-19 guidelines on Thursday, dropping so-called “quarantine” periods for unvaccinated people who have been exposed to the virus.

The changes are a big step away from those that had originally been put in place when the virus first made its way to the US, with social distancing set at 6 feet apart and quarantining measures being the norm with people who were merely exposed people having to self-isolate for up to two weeks. The agency’s shift comes as schools begin to reopen across the country.

Democrat House Passes $737 Billion Climate and Healthcare Package Without Full CBO Score of Cost

The Democrat-led House passed a climate and healthcare spending bill on Friday without a full Congressional Budget Office score of the legislation’s cost.

The CBO confirmed to GOP lawmakers on Friday that $20 billion will be collected under the bill from those earning less than $400,000 per year through new audits, according to House GOP Whip Steve Scalise. Republicans argue that $20 billion breaks President Biden’s promise not to raise taxes on households making less than $400,000 annually.

The CBO said on Thursday it needed more time to score the full cost of the legislation.

Former Prosecutors Say Judge Should Have Recused Self From Trump Search Warrant Approval

The federal magistrate who once questioned Donald Trump’s moral stature and recused himself from a case involving the former president over impartiality concerns should have stepped aside from approving the search warrant for the Mar-a-Lago raid, two former federal prosecutors told Just the News.

“It would probably have been best to pass on on entertaining an application, an affidavit from the government,” former Assistant U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan told the Just the News, Not Noise television show Thursday.

Former federal prosecutor Kash Patel, a former aide to Trump, suggested the former president’s legal team should consider filing a motion to disqualify Magistrate Bruce Reinhart from further action in the case for Facebook comments disparaging Trump he made in 2017 before he joined the bench.

Newly released internal messages between Twitter staff show them discussing an April 2021 meeting with the White House where the Biden administration reportedly pushed for journalist and author Alex Berenson to be booted from the platform before Twitter banned him.

Berenson was banned from Twitter for violating its “COVID-19 misinformation” rules four months later in August 2021. Berenson responded by suing Twitter in December 2021, with the lawsuit accusing the tech giant of acting “on behalf of the federal government in censoring and barring him from access to its platform.” Berenson’s account was subsequently reinstated in July 2022 after both parties settled the censorship lawsuit.

Murder Rate in Major US Cities Outpaces Ukraine’s Recorded Civilian Death Rate

Per capita murder rates in major U.S. cities such as Chicago, Baltimore and St. Louis are outpacing Ukraine’s recorded civilian death rate from Russia’s invasion.

According to the United Nations Human Rights office, 5,401 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since Russia’s attack began in February, although the agency said it “believes that the actual figures are considerably higher.”

With a population of about 41,167,300, Ukraine’s civilian death rate is 13.12 per 100,000 people using official statistics from the United Nations.

The murder rates for several major U.S. cities are considerably higher than Ukraine’s civilian death rate.

For example, Baltimore, which has a population of 576,498 as of July 2021 according to Census estimates, has seen 215 homicides so far in 2022, yielding a rate of 37.3 murders per 100,000 people.

Public College Officials That Banned Anticommunist, Pro-Life Flyers Sued for Personal Liability

Public college officials are facing the prospect of personal liability for allegedly unconstitutional restrictions on student and faculty speech, by ordering the removal of flyers and a syllabus that caused offense.

The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression has filed two lawsuits within a month that seek to overcome the judicial doctrine of qualified immunity, which trial and appeals courts have withheld from public college officials for viewpoint discrimination in recent years.

Public records obtained by the civil liberties nonprofit show that on Nov. 12, Lori Bennett, president of California’s Clovis Community College, banned flyers that are not “club announcements” to justify the removal of Young Americans for Freedom’s anticommunist flyers. She said Vice President of Student Services Alejandro De La Garza helped devise the rationale.

Salman Rushdie is Stabbed 10 to 15 Times — Including Once in the Neck — on Stage at NY Literary Fair and Airlifted to Hospital 33 Years After Iran Issued Fatwah on Him for Novel Satanic Verses

Author Salman Rushdie has been airlifted to hospital after being stabbed multiple times in the neck on stage as he prepared to give a speech in upstate New York.

The writer, 75, was attacked as he was being introduced to the stage for the CHQ 2022 event in Chautauqua, near Buffalo, on Friday morning.

Witnesses claim that he was stabbed ten to fifteen times, as a man approached him from behind before rushing the stage.

He was attending for a discussion of the United States as asylum for writers and other artists in exile and as a home for freedom of creative expression.

Witnesses claimed that his attacker managed to walk off the stage after the stabbing, before being restrained, as people rushed to assist Rushdie — who had been seated when he was assaulted.

Blood was spattered on the wall behind where Rushdie had been attacked, with some also seen on a chair.

His current condition is not known, and a man has been arrested by New York state troopers. The interviewer speaking to Rushdie also suffered a minor head injury.

Trump Denies Possession of Nuclear Documents, Suggests FBI Planted Washington Post Story

Former President Donald Trump on Friday pointedly denied still possessing classified documents about nuclear weapons after a Washington Post article suggested that was what FBI agents were searching for in his home.

He compared the article to leaks during the 2016 election of the now-discredited Steele dossier.

Trump wrote on his social media app Truth Social, “Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more.”

“Same sleazy people involved,” he added, referring to some of the top appointees at the DOJ and FBI. “Why wouldn’t the FBI allow the inspection of areas at Mar-a-Lago with our lawyer’s [sic], or others present. Made them wait outside in the heat, wouldn’t let them get even close — said ‘ABSOLUTELY NOT.’“

Air Canada Pilot Says Airport Chaos is the Government’s Fault

Recently, while jammed shoulder-to-shoulder in the overcrowded Montréal—Trudeau International Airport, an Air Canada pilot told me the government was solely responsible for the mess.

Inquiring about wait times, cancellations, and general chaos at Trudeau International, I asked a pilot struggling to get to his plane, “Who’s fault is it?”

“It’s the government’s fault,” he responded without missing a beat.

A woman nearby came to Trudeau’s aid, saying, “It’s not the government. It’s the airlines.”

But the pilot was adamant.

“No, it’s not. No, it’s not. It’s the airport authority,” he said, pushing through the crowd.

“I was categorically told that the airport authority would actually be offended because it does come under the federal government,” the advertising agency said.

The Counter Signal is reviewing its legal options and alternative ways to share the BanArriveCan.ca message.

Ontario Doctor Takes Stand Against CPSO for Alleged Suppression and Censorship of Treatment Options

In this interview, Dr. Akbar Khan details an ongoing investigation of him by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) that predates the COVID-19 pandemic.

He opened a clinic in 2007 that offers evidence-based therapies which he says “are either natural and [therefore] unpatentable or old drugs that are off-patent so there’s no motivation to use them commercially; they don’t make a big profit.”

Providing metabolic therapy was already “unpopular with conventional oncologists, so really it’s the opposition of the conventional doctors that has caused all of the problems,” Dr. Kahn says, as he details the complaints against him.

As farmers in the Netherlands continue protesting the EU’s Great Reset measures, which could see as much as 30 per cent of livestock farms in the country forced to close, stunned elected representatives have been grilling the Dutch government as to the exact nature of the planned closures.

Polish Gas Storage Full, But Energy Shortages Could Still Occur

Polish gas stores are now 99 percent full, according to the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) organization. Unless a worst-case scenario occurs, Poland is in a stronger position than many of its regional peers to weather the expected winter energy crisis.

Currently, the country has 36,000 GWh in gas energy storage. Its peak in terms of daily consumption of gas during the winter last year was 911 GWh on Jan. 21, 2021.

This means that it would take just 40 days of such consumption to burn through the country’s current reserves. That may be the worst case scenario, but it is one that has to be factored in.

The Boer: A Dutch Farmer Rebellion

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, under the influence of the World Economic Forum, announced his goal to reach net-zero nitrogen emissions in 2019.

This policy will force farmers to reduce livestock and food production to reduce nitrogen emissions.

The farmers, also known as “the boer” in the Netherlands, have spent years pushing back in peaceful protest, and in June 2022, the protests grew bigger than ever before.

So, Rebel News sent U.K. Reporter Lewis Brackpool and Lincoln Jay to the Netherlands to cover these massive protests. Now, with the help of Kian Simone, they have combined their in-depth footage from the Dutch farmer protests to create a documentary.

In this exclusive and hard-hitting documentary, Rebel News displays the other side of the story of the farmers’ rebellion.

Caroline Glick: The Strategic Blindness of Israel’s Caretaker Government

Operation Breaking Dawn was a textbook illustration of Israel’s tactical brilliance and prowess on the one hand, and strategic blindness on the other.

Tactically, Israel’s Iron Dome system allows its civilians to remain almost entirely unharmed while terror armies pummel Israel’s cities and villages with missiles and rockets.

So too, Israel has developed precision guided weapons, and operational intelligence capabilities which combined enable it to conduct pinpoint assaults against targets and destroy them with little to no collateral damage.

From Friday through Sunday, Islamic Jihad shot nearly a thousand projectiles at Israel. But largely thanks to Iron Dome, no Israelis were harmed by direct hits. In precision strikes, Israel was able to eliminate Islamic Jihad’s commanders.

While Israel’s leaders are right to trumpet the operation’s tactical, technology-based success, Operation Breaking Dawn was a strategic fiasco on multiple levels.

The first level of strategic failure is the operational level…

“The sooner we stop Russia, the sooner we can feel safe,” Zelensky said while meeting defense leaders at a Denmark conference aimed at ensuring foreign supplies continue delivering weapons, training, and demining work in his country.

“We need armaments, munitions for our defense,” the leader added, speaking via a live link from Ukraine.

Shelling of Russian-Held Nuclear Power Plant Resumes After Last Friday’s Strike

KYIV/NEW YORK, (Reuters) — Russia and Ukraine accused each other of shelling Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant, compounding fears of a disaster as the U.N. chief said it should be made a demilitarised zone and Ukraine demanded that Russian forces withdraw from it.

Ukraine’s Energoatom agency said the Zaporizhzhia complex in south-central Ukraine was struck five times on Thursday, including near where radioactive materials are stored. Russian-appointed officials said Ukraine shelled the plant twice, disrupting a shift changeover, Russia’s TASS news agency said…

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy demanded Russia return the plant to Ukraine’s control.

“Only a full withdrawal of the Russians … and the restoration of full Ukrainian control of the situation around the station can guarantee a resumption of nuclear security for all of Europe,” he said in a video address.

France echoed Zelenskiy’s demand and said Russia’s occupation of the site endangered the world…

Separately, satellite pictures released on Thursday showed devastation at an air base in Russian-annexed Crimea. It suggested Ukraine may have new long-range strike capability with potential to change the course of the war, Western military experts said.

French Conservatives Slam Push by Macron’s Deputy to Legalize Voting for All Foreigners in Municipal Elections

Italy: Giorgia Meloni Calls for a Naval Blockade Off Libya

Like every summer, a massive influx of asylum seekers is spurring on the political discussion in Italy. And the issue is once again grist to the mills of the right-wing opposition. Just a few years ago, Matteo Salvini, then Interior Minister of the Lega, was able to count on the approval of an overwhelming majority of Italians for his rigid measures against illegal immigration.

Currently the chairwoman of Fratelli d’Italia, Giorgia Meloni, is benefiting from the situation. She makes no secret of the fact that if she wins the early parliamentary elections in September she is aiming for the post of head of government.

Meloni has been making a name for herself by calling for a ship blockade off the Libyan coast to deal with the current influx of migrants. “The best solution to the problem of migration is to block departures,” Meloni said in an interview with Italian radio station 102-5.

Google Continues Its Editorialization of Search by Adding “Content Advisories” To Searches

It has hardly ever been enough for Google just to be able to censor content on YouTube and apps in its store — “curating” and, critics say, essentially editorializing what users can see when they use Google Search has been high on the list of priorities for a while.

Coincidentally or not, in the year of US midterm elections, the giant is ramping up this effort to make sure the search engine isn’t simply returning results — like people might still expect it to do — but what Google decides are “trustworthy results” as opposed to “falsehoods and misinformation.”

Yuval Noah Harari, historian, futurist, and World Economic Forum (WEF) adviser, said, “We just don’t need the vast majority of the population” in the early 21st century given modern technologies’ rendering human labor economically and militarily “redundant.”

Harari’s remarks were made in an interview with Chris Anderson, the head of TED, published on Tuesday. He assessed widespread contemporary disillusionment among “common people” as being rooted in a fear of being “left behind” in a future run by “smart people.” Such fears are justified, he added, given his projection that emerging technologies will displace economic needs to many categories of existing work.

‘Writ Application Denied’: Louisiana Supreme Court Blocks Challenge to State’s Abortion Ban

The Louisiana Supreme Court of Friday denied a challenge from abortion providers to the state’s abortion ban, ruling that the prohibition on the procedure may continue.

The June Medical Services LLC had filed an emergency application to challenge the state’s law, though the court released a simple, three-word response, saying “writ application denied,” per the Epoch Times.

Louisiana maintained a trigger law that would immediately ban abortion following the overturn of the landmark abortion precedent established in Roe v. Wade that guaranteed a right to the procedure. A number of judges previously blocked the ban’s implementation when the Supreme Court gave such a ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson.

  1. One of the most celebrated writers of modern times, Salman Rushdie, who has lived under death threats from the Muslim world for over 30 years, was stabbed on Friday during a lecture on freedom of expression. The perpetrator, a 24-year-old Muslim named Hadi Matar, was overpowered and arrested on the spot.

The attack took place at the Chautauqua Institute, north-west of New York. Rushdie’s lecture was entitled “More than Shelter” and was intended to generate discussion about the United States as a home for creative freedom of expression and a country of asylum for writers and other artists in exile.

    – Rushdie was on stage presenting when a young man dressed in black approached, pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the neck, eyewitness Julia Mineeva-Braun tells NBC News.

Mineeva-Braun says she first thought the young man was a stagehand trying to fix Rushdie’s microphone, because he was bending over him.

    – Then all of a sudden we see the knife and the first stab, right in the artery, into his neck, then several stabs a little further down toward his shoulder blade, she says.

The knifeman was tackled by the crowd
The 75-year-old writer reportedly received 10 to 15 stabs in quick succession but still managed to get up and run away from the attacker. The perpetrator was tackled by members of the audience who rushed onto the stage, before he was arrested by police.

    Taken to hospital by helicopter
According to police, the interviewer was also slightly injured in the attack. Witnesses say Rushdie was conscious and able to communicate with those who gave him first aid. A doctor in the crowd gave the author treatment before he was taken by helicopter to hospital, where he is now reportedly undergoing surgery.

“The perpetrator sympathizes with the Iranian regime”
The perpetrator has been identified as 24-year-old Hadi Matar, a resident of Fairview, New Jersey. Worldwide, the last name Matar is most common in Iraq and Lebanon, according to Forebears. NY Post sources state that Hadi Matar “sympathizes with the Iranian regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.”

  2. Unless the real men of the currently feminising islamising western contradiction responds and crushes these fifth columns nature will have to take its course. The last time Hitler stepped forward.

    • Too late, the strongmen of Europe will once again rise and take over, democracy is dead, there is no voting your way out of this mess any longer. There will be blood, and lots of it. Just wait until winter comes, then the fun really will begin.

  3. ..and Koran savages swarm ashore to free first class hotel accommodations and income. The Islamist infrastructure is already set up throughout Britain. What happened. It doesn’t get more unholy and racist than Islam.

  4. And we have a lot of fun again. You probably do not know, but in the Caspian region we have a republic inhabited by Kalmyk Buddhists. Some of the kings once allowed them to settle there. The Kalmyk detachments, by the way, did a great service to the kings in the conquest of the Caucasus. In general, they, like all Buddhists, are harmless people, but it is better not to test their patience. A few years ago there was a high-profile case when an athlete from Muslim Dagestan who came to the competition pissed on a statue of Buddha. There was a lot of noise. The Kalmyks put him and his friends on their knees and forced them to apologize. Is it necessary to say that Kalmyks and Caucasian Muslims do not like each other?
Recently there was a resonant case – two Caucasian prisoners attacked Kalmyk guards. One was killed, the other was in a serious condition in the hospital, and six more received minor injuries. After that, other Kalmyk guards staged a demonstrative beating of all imprisoned Muslims in the prison.

Now there are unrest throughout Dagestan.

This is how the so-called Friendship of Peoples dies.
