Gates of Vienna News Feed 8/1/2022

It appears that Nancy Pelosi will visit Taiwan tomorrow after all. Her plane will reportedly be escorted by fighter jets, and she will stay overnight. China has threatened a strong response to the visit, and has ordered an aircraft carrier to put to sea from its military dock on the island of Hainan. The U.S. Navy has its own forces in the area, including a carrier group in the South China Sea.

In other news, President Joe Biden made a television appearance to announce that Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri has been killed in Afghanistan by a U.S. drone strike.

Argentina’s Government Collapsing, People Refuse to Work Amid Major Subsidy Cuts

Authored by Autumn Spreadermann via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours)

Protests have erupted in Buenos Aires over the past 90 days and continue to build inside the capital as residents battle with their center-left government over sizeable amendments to social programs.

Cuts to subsidies in the energy sector based on household income already began in June.

Other subsidies, including the country’s notorious welfare program, are also on the chopping block, triggering thousands of angry residents to take to the streets.

State-sponsored aid for civilians has soared in the past 20 years, leaving 22 million Argentinians dependent on some form of government assistance.

In the first quarter of 2022, the national employment rate was 43 percent, according to government figures.

Atlanta Fed Slashes Q3 GDP Growth as PMI Plunges

Following two quarters of negative GDP growth — which is definitely not a recession remember — The Atlanta Fed’s GDPNOW model initiated its Q3 GDP forecast for the US economy at +2.1% on July 29th.

However, after this morning’s data, The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the third quarter of 2022 is 1.3 percent on August 1, down from 2.1 percent on July 29.

Following the Manufacturing ISM Report On Business from the Institute for Supply Management and the construction spending report from the US Census Bureau, the nowcasts of third-quarter real personal consumption expenditures growth and real gross private domestic investment growth declined from 2.5 percent and —1.4 percent, respectively, to 1.5 percent and —2.1 percent, respectively.

Austin Fitts: “We’re at War With the Deep State Globalists”

Via Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Catherine Austin Fitts (CAF), Publisher of The Solari Report and former Assistant Secretary of Housing (Bush 41 Admin.), says we are at war with the Deep State globalists that want nothing short of total control over all of mankind.

Central bankers want a financial system that is a lawless criminal control syndicate where it’s legal for them to do whatever they want. It is simply a choice between tyranny and sovereignty, freedom or slavery.

We start with the foundational building block of tyranny, the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) that global bankers want to install in the financial system. CAF says, “It’s not a currency…”

“ That’s what you need to understand. What we are talking about is a control system that is going to be implemented in a global coup d’état, and we are in the middle of a global coup d’état.

That’s what is happening right now.

Essentially, if you look at the central bankers, the BIS (Bank of International Settlements) and all the central bankers are trying to create a system where they are completely free of the laws of nation states and governments. In other words, they are inserting sovereign immunity from all laws and literally trying to create a civilization under the law where they are free to do whatever they want, including, as we know—genocide.”

CAF says to fight back against CBDC is to use cash.

Biden’s ‘Inflation Reduction Act 2022’ Raises Taxes on Most Americans: Report

U.S. President Joe Biden claimed on Sunday that the “Inflation Reduction Act of 2022” will not raise taxes on anyone earning less than $400,000 a year, but reports show that claim to be false.

“The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will lower health care costs for millions of Americans,” wrote Biden on Twitter. “And, for the first time in a long time, make the largest corporations pay their fair share without any new taxes on people making under $400,000 a year.”

That claim is false, as exposed by the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT), which showed that under the plan, taxes will increase in 2023 for everyone except those earning between $10,000 and $30,000 per year.

Food Banks in Canada Are at a “Crisis Stage”

Amid skyrocketing food prices as a result of the inflation crisis, more Canadians are using food banks to feed their families.

According to the Daily Bread Food Bank, a Toronto-based food charity, nearly triple the number of people visited a food bank in June 2022 (171,631) compared to June 2019 (65,000).

“The stories that we’re hearing — the common theme is people’s income doesn’t match what their expenses are,” Daily Bread Food Bank CEO Neil Hetherington told CTV.

Senior Economist ‘Fact Checked’ by Facebook for Saying U.S. is in Recession

An experienced economist has been ‘fact checked’ and corrected by Facebook after he stated that the U.S. is now in a recession.

Phil Magness, a researcher and educator with the American Institute for Economic Research, reacted to the incident by commenting “We live in an Orwellian hell-scape.”

Facebook uses ‘independent’ fact checkers at Politifact, a brazenly partisan operation, which ‘corrected’ Magness’ post about the Biden administration attempting to change the definition of a recession.

Data Suggests Sudden Adult Death Syndrome Due to Vaccines

By: Rafael Castillo-M.D.

From time to time, our commentaries stir up a hornet’s nest in our readers and in several health-oriented Viber groups.

We wrote of the recent phenomenon of increased incidence of sudden unexpected deaths in healthy adults and those with previously stable medical conditions, and many physicians and health experts are now questioning the government’s continued campaign for anti-COVID vaccination and boostering. This is despite the unresolved question linking the vaccines to heart and other serious complications.

Dr. Benny Tiangco, one of the country’s top experts on medicolegal issues, echoed the concerns on seniors suffering from heart attacks getting second booster jabs.

Vaccine-related injuries

He wrote: “I’ve been hearing such (sudden or unexpected adult deaths) but mostly from non-MDs so I took them with a grain of salt. Kaso medyo marami-rami na ngayon (The problem is that the cases are increasing).

“The concern is that many seniors who have cardiac comorbidities (previous heart attack, ischemic heart, myopathies, etc.) are the ones targeted for the never-ending boosters.

“I’m no antivaxxer, but this proclivity fomented by government and industry for never-ending booster shots is akin to a scam of the highest order. We’re selling short our innate natural immunity. Who knows, the long-COVID effect may wreak havoc on the heart and other organ-systems. I pray no analogous post ‘thalidomide-like’ effect happens with these vaccines.”

DeSantis Plans to Fight ‘Woke Ideology’ of PayPal and Other Financial Services

Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to make money transfer services such as PayPal — as well as credit cards and banks — the next targets in his campaign against “woke ideology,” announcing Wednesday a set of measures ahead of the next legislative session.

The proposals, which DeSantis said would include a combination of legislative and executive initiatives, would ban credit card companies and money transfer services from “discriminating” against users based on political or religious ideology.

Detroit Police Say Man Was Angry About Parking Issue Before Mass Shooting That Killed 2, Injured 6

DETROIT (FOX 2) — The Detroit Police Department said a suspect who was upset about his neighbor blocking his driveway shot 8 people, killing 2 of them early Sunday morning.

Detroit Police confirmed a second victim died Monday morning, more than a day after someone shot into a crowd in a Detroit neighborhood on the city’s west side.

An anonymous neighbor said the shooter came out of his house and started shooting across the street, firing close to 30 or 40 rounds. The number of shots fired by the shooter was not confirmed by police.

Of the 8 people, 2 were killed and several of the other 6 were critically wounded.

The neighbor said the shooting around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday turned Coyle and Plymouth into a war zone.

“We had to call police and tell them what was going on and they were hearing it as we were talking to them,” the neighbor said.

So what prompted the shooting? A parking problem.

According to police, the shooter was mad about someone who was blocking his driveway. FOX 2 learned he, at first, fired into the air before he went inside the house and came back out to fire more shots.

“They weren’t bothering him they didn’t knock on his door or throw anything on his grass nothing,” the neighbor said…

Fox News Has Effectively Banned Trump From Appearing on Their Network

Fox News has effectively banned Donald Trump from appearing on their network in what seems to be part of a deliberate move to throw its support behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

A report by the New York Times noted that Trump has not appeared on Fox News in over 100 days in what seems to be part of an intentional effort to freeze out his 2024 candidacy.

Having last appeared on Sean Hannity’s show on April 13, Trump himself complained that his old friend “doesn’t seem to be paying him much attention anymore.”

New York Gov. Hochul Declares ‘State of Emergency’ Over Monkeypox Virus Outbreak

Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul issued an executive order declaring a disaster in the state of New York on Friday as more individuals are reportedly testing positive for the monkeypox virus, with the largest outbreak occurring within LGBTQ communities.

The Executive Order will allow the state to respond more swiftly to the outbreak and will provide health care professionals with additional tools to increase vaccination rates among New Yorkers, according to Gov. Hochul’s Office.

[Comment: Elsewhere online I came across what I think is an interesting comment: if gays refrained from sex for three weeks, this monkeypox outbreak will end.]

Oklahoma Pushes Back Against School Districts That Violated Ban on Critical Race Theory

San Francisco Real Estate Magnate Robbed at Gunpoint, Fears City ‘On Path of Decline We May Never Recover From’

The chief executive of the world’s largest industrial landlord was robbed outside his San Francisco mansion last month and called on the mayor to address the “absolutely unacceptable” rise in violent crime in the city.

Hamid Moghadam, CEO of San Francisco-based Prologis, told the San Francisco Business Times that several men robbed him at gunpoint outside his home on June 26, taking his Patek Philippe watch. The robbery happened in the Pacific Heights neighborhood where tech investor Peter Thiel, Oracle’s Larry Ellison, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have homes.

“I recognize we live in an urban environment, but the level of crime, including violent behavior, has become absolutely unacceptable,” Moghadam wrote in a letter to San Francisco Mayor London Breed, the city’s Board of Supervisors, and Governor Gavin Newsom, demanding them to concentrate efforts on improving public safety.

“We pay some of the highest taxes, local and state, in the nation, yet we have no sense of security. Protecting public safety should be the government’s top priority — that is the foundation to a successful city,” he said.

Seattle Businesses Take Law Into Own Hands to Combat Homelessness, Angering Activists

Business and property owners in Seattle are installing 1-ton concrete blocks on city streets to prevent RVs and homeless encampments from forming or returning to an area.

“Individual businesses and residents are putting ecology blocks out as taking matters in their own hands because if they call the city and say there are RVs out in front of their business or out in front of their home, they can’t do anything about it,” business owner JW Harvey told The Seattle Times.

Anonymous Seattleites have hauled the massive 1 to 2-ton blocks — known as “ecology blocks” or “eco blocks” — using special equipment outside residential areas and in front of businesses to prevent RVs from parking and homeless encampments from forming.

Stabbing Attack on River Tubing Party Kills Teenage Boy

Four others injured by an attacker who fled the scene

A teenager tubing on a Wisconsin river was fatally stabbed by a 52-year-old man, police say. Four other people suffered stab wounds ranging from serious to critical.

The attack happened around 3:45 p.m. Saturday near Somerset. The victims and the suspect were believed to be among about 20 people riding inner tubes on the same stretch of the Apple River. Investigators are attempting to determine whether the suspect knew the victims and what led to the stabbing, WLUK-TV reported.

The suspect, from Prior Lake, Minn., was arrested about 90 minutes later a mile away. A photo taken by a witness to the stabbings helped identify him, St. Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson said.

He was being held without bail in St. Croix County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, four counts of mayhem and four counts of aggravated battery and was expected to make a court appearance Monday…

Study Finds Vaccinated People Spread COVID for a Longer Period of Time

A new study suggests that vaccinated individuals infected with COVID spread it for a longer period of time than the unvaccinated.

Researchers published their findings in the New England Journal of Medicine as a letter to the editor and appeared to have tried to downplay the variance.

“…We did not find large differences in the median duration of viral shedding among participants who were unvaccinated, those who were vaccinated but not boosted, and those who were vaccinated and boosted,” they wrote.

However, as the data indicates, the vaccinated were contagious for a longer period than the unvaccinated.

Breaking Agreement to Use a Condom is Sexual Assault

America has been struggling with the entire “affirmative consent” question when it comes to sexual activity for quite a few years now. Questions of defining when “yes means yes” or “yes turns into no” have spurred debates that continue to this day. But as usual, Canada is jumping in with both feet and turning the dials up to eleven. The country’s highest court has now ruled that any man who agrees to use a condom during sex but then either doesn’t use one or removes it without his partner’s agreement is guilty of sexual assault or rape. This decision is of particular interest to a Canadian man named Ross McKenzie Kirkpatrick. He was the first person charged under this particular concept. A lower court dismissed the charges, but now he will be returning to court to defend himself against charges of rape or sexual assault. (NY Times)

Deena Hinshaw Was Paid Record Cash Bonus During Height of Lockdowns

During the height of lockdowns and mandates, when Albertans were fed daily fear propaganda, CMOH Deena Hinshaw received hundreds of thousands of dollars as a cash bonus.

“The scale of the response to this unprecedented public health emergency required an extraordinary amount of additional work from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, the Vaccine Task force, the Pandemic Response Team and others, which is reflected in the recent disclosure,” explained Ministry of Health spokesperson Mark Feldbusch in an email.

As previously reported by The Counter Signal, earlier this year, Hinshaw admitted that Alberta Health Services (AHS) reported non-ICU patients as ICU patients throughout the pandemic.

First Grain-Laden Ship Safely Departs Ukraine’s Odessa Port

Turkey has confirmed that the first shipment of Ukraine grain has left the port of Odessa, after six months of war-time blockages, under the UN-brokered deal to secure safe passage of grain ships signed by Moscow and Kiev last month.

“The ship Razoni has left the port of Odessa bound for Tripoli in Lebanon. It is expected in Istanbul on August 2. It will then continue its journey after it has been inspected in Istanbul,” a Turkish Defense Ministry statement said.

The Kremlin also hailed the success based on the terms laid out in Isanbul: “As for the departure of the first ship, this is very positive. A good opportunity to test the effectiveness of the mechanisms that were agreed during talks in Istanbul,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Putin Declares America is Russia’s Top Threat

Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Sunday signed a military document that declared the United States is the primary threat to Russian security.

It was the first update to Russia’s naval doctrine since 2015, when changes were made following Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine.

Sunday was Navy Day, a national holiday established by Putin’s decree in 2017 celebrated with a huge parade of military vessels on the Neva river in St. Petersburg, a venue chosen to honor Tsar Peter the Great for establishing Russia as a major naval power.

Ukraine War: First Grain Ship Leaves Under Russia Deal

The first ship carrying grain has left a Ukrainian port under a landmark deal with Russia.

Turkish and Ukrainian officials say the ship left the southern port of Odesa early on Monday morning local time.

Russia has been blockading Ukrainian ports since February, but the two sides made a deal to resume shipments.

It is hoped the agreement will ease the global food crisis and lower the price of grain.

Turkey said the Sierra Leone-flagged vessel, the Razoni, would dock at the port of Tripoli in Lebanon, adding that further shipments were planned over the coming weeks.

The Joint Co-ordination Centre, set up in Istanbul under the deal, said the ship was carrying some 26,000 tonnes of corn and was expected to arrive in Turkish waters for inspection on Tuesday.

Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov told the BBC the Razoni was an important test to show the deal would work, with Turkey aiding its safe navigation through dangerous waters.

“There’s the question of mines,” he told BBC Newshour. “There are a lot of mines — starting from World War Two, in addition to mines which appeared in the Black Sea starting from February — it provides a lot of risks,” he said…

US Takes Out Al Qaeda Leader Ayman Al Zawahiri in ‘Successful’ Afghanistan Counterterrorism Operation

President Biden announced Monday that the U.S. government killed the leader of al Qaeda, Ayman Al Zawahiri in a “successful” counterterrorism operation in Afghanistan that removes the terrorist from the battlefield “once and for all,” and degrades the terror network’s ability to operate.

The United States government, on July 30 at 9:48 p.m. ET, and 6:18 a.m. Kabul time, undertook a “precision counterterrorism operation,” killing Al Zawahiri, who served as Usama bin Laden’s deputy during the 9/11 attacks, and as his successor in 2011, following bin Laden’s death.

Biden, in an address to the American people, Monday night said “justice has been delivered,” and warned those that seek to do harm to the United States.

Italy Still Open to Illegal Immigration But Things Could Change After Sept. 25 Elections

On the island of Lampedusa, now submerged despite the efforts of Mario Draghi’s government to quickly evacuate new arrivees to Sicily or the mainland, a record was broken a few days ago with 32 boats arriving in one day. The previous record was 29 and dated from late 2020. Lampedusa, as well as Sicily and Calabria, is the target of migrants making the crossing, usually from Tunisia or Algeria, on small and medium-sized boats, without the help of NGOs and their big ships.

In Lampedusa, where the reception center is designed for 350 migrants, there were more than 1,700 at a time last week. On Thursday alone, 283 arrived while the Italian Navy evacuated 200 to Pozzallo, Sicily.

  1. American democracy on the brink

    Politically, Donald Trump has little in common with the cruel Russian Lev Trotsky, a prize communist and creator of the Red Army. But as historical figures they are similar, as they have both been cast as enemies of the people and pests that the state must fight by any means necessary. Until Stalin’s agent assassinated Trotsky in 1940, the Soviet regime’s propaganda portrayed him as the diabolical force behind all the misfortunes that befell the communist land of fortune. If a machine broke down, if there was a potato shortage, or if the peasants resisted forced collectivisation, Trotsky was the one working.

    So is Trump, who has been the terror of the ruling class since he announced his candidacy for president in 2015. Since then, American politics has essentially been about cracking down on the recalcitrant upstart who refused to abide by Deep State rules. Instead, he incited opposition to the Democratic-Republican junta that had sat so untouched in power for decades. There is no getting away from it, and even before the 2016 presidential election, the junta had mobilised its power apparatus, the FBI, the Justice Department, various NGOs, Hollywood and the obedient media to crush this evil man by any means necessary.

    Since then, American politics has been dominated by attempts to bring down Trump: the federal police, the FBI, spied on him and his supporters even before the presidential election, and Hillary Clinton fabricated and financed an alleged conspiracy between Trump and Russia which, after years of investigation, turned out to be completely unfounded. Despite this, the House of Representatives convicted him in two scandalous indictments, and now the anti-Trump campaign continues in the guise of the January 6 House of Representatives, which has been conducting a Stalinist show trial against the former president for months. The intention is clearly to set the stage for a criminal trial that will end with Trump going to jail and thus prevent him from becoming a presidential candidate in 2024.

    According to Trump, the Democratic-Republican comrade’s real target is not himself. The intent is to crush the middle class of wage earners, farmers and other small family breadwinners who have been the backbone of the constitutional republic and a bulwark against the tyranny that is the real end goal of the Deep State. Historically, America’s middle class has led the resistance to royal autocracy, fascism and communism.

    Now the enemy is the World Economic Forum and other totalitarian actors working to impose an anti-American, globalist regime in the US that will once again divide the population into masters and slaves.

    It does not matter whether the globalists call themselves Democrats or Republicans. They are also sworn enemies of the policies that Trump has sought to pursue for the benefit of workers and other petty bourgeois. One of their favorite methods has been to impoverish the middle class through politically organized inflation and an assault on civil society in the form of unrestricted immigration and the related crime and drug abuse that took the lives of more than 100,000 people last year. In this context, one must also see the ideology which those in power are trying to impose on a misguided population and which seeks to destroy the nuclear family, indoctrinate schoolchildren with socialist and sexualised propaganda and abolish the traditional definition of boys and girls. A broken and rootless people is defenceless and condemned to follow the wishes of those in power.

    For the same reason, the Biden administration is campaigning against the constitutional right of citizens to keep and bear arms. In a totalitarian state, only those in power are armed.

    Everything is used in this war against democracy. New crimes are being invented, such as questioning the election results and “contempt of Congress” – something Trump supporter Steve Bannon has just been convicted of for refusing to attend the witch trials on January 6. The Democratic-Republican powers in the House of Representatives are now demanding access to the conversations Trump has had with his lawyers and close associates, and if the lawyers and members of Trump’s staff refuse to appear for questioning, they could end up getting the same treatment as Bannon. The January 6 hearings are not about finding out the truth about anything, but about intimidating any actual or potential opponents of tyranny into submission.

    The FBI and the Justice Department are being mobilised openly and shamelessly to get at any presumptuous people.

    Republican Senator Chuck Grassley reports that several high-ranking whistleblowers in the FBI tell of a systematic abuse of the federal police and the Justice Department to persecute opponents of the regime. Over the past seven years, the senator says, the FBI has acted in the manner of the Soviet KGB and the East German Stasi.
    The regime’s rampant corruption is, of course, kept secret. It is now clear that Joe Biden’s drug-dealing son, Hunter Biden, has been running shady and lucrative deals with China, Russia and Ukraine, among others, under the guise of his father’s former position as vice president, and that the “big guy”, i.e. Joe Biden, should get 10% of the loot.

    Here, perhaps, is the explanation for the President’s lax and acquiescent policy towards China’s Communist leaders, who probably have something on him – something they may make public if he does not correct himself.

    It all hinges on the November midterm elections and the 2024 presidential election. That will determine who will hold power in the Republican Party – Trump’s America First wing or the Deep State supporters who might as well run for the Democrats.

    It is about the future of democracy and the entire West, because if the anti-democratic
    globalists win in the US, it will inevitably be our turn in Europe.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The conspiracy theory that became reality.
    Every third “Swedish” mother was born abroad.
    By Erling Marthinsen (Norway)
    After Renaud Camus wrote the book Le Grand Remplacement about the great replacement of Europe’s population, he was accused of pure conspiracy and all references to the theory were dismissed as right-wing extremism. But the reality can no longer be hidden.
    In Sweden, the post-democratic country that has an all-too-long border with Norway, one in three mothers is now foreign-born. The number of ethnic Swedes is falling due to low birth rates, while the immigrant population is growing rapidly. It is not only massive immigration that is affecting the demographics of the neighbouring country, writes Samnytt.
    It is not only Sweden’s exceptionally high level of mass immigration that is driving the development, but also the fact that foreign-born women account for an increasing share of the birth rate. At the same time, Swedish women are giving birth to fewer and fewer children.
    In the 1970s, only one in ten newborn children had a foreign-born mother. In cities like Malmö and Södertälje, Swedes are already in the minority.
    According to SCB forecasts, the trend will only strengthen in the coming years. It is only a matter of time before Swedes are in the minority in what was once Sweden.
    Who has children has an impact on how Swedish society develops. The trend is not promising, to say the least.
    While the proportion of foreign-born mothers is increasing, there are also considerably more of them than in the past who were born in geographically and culturally distant countries, whose children are born into parallel societies and segregation with non-Swedish values.
    At present, the proportion of immigrants is so “low” that, overall, fewer children are born than adults are dying.
    But mass immigration is still increasing the population. And soon the proportion of immigrants will reach a breaking point, where the number of births exceeds the number of deaths. Then you will have a purely immigration-driven population growth.
    This is Le Grand Remplacement in practice. The population is being replaced, as Bertold Brecht predicted.
    Brecht sarcastically suggested dissolving the people and electing a new one. Swedish politicians apparently took the sarcastic message as a recipe.
    But even the SCB, like the Norwegian SSB, tries to hide reality. The SCB’s long-term demographic forecast, unlike the current one, sees a levelling out of the proportion of foreign-born mothers, and after 2070 even a slight decrease. It is unclear what the agency bases this forecast on.
    One does not need a magic ‘Facit calculator’ to understand that with (more than even) 100,000 new ‘Swedes’ (culture enrichers) coming in every year, and with higher birth rates among foreign-born than among ethnic Swedes, the end result will be a Sweden with an ever lower proportion of ‘old Swedes’.
    Within a few decades, Swedes will be a minority in their own country. We Norwegians are heading down the same road, albeit at a slightly slower pace.
    Already one in three women giving birth is an immigrant.
