Farmers in the Spanish province of Andalucía staged a demonstration yesterday in the city of Jaén protesting rising production costs. However, according to an organization called ASEPRES (Asociación del sector primario de España) of Andalucía, the demonstration was actually a diversion from the real concerns of farmers, because it was staged by a trade union that is funded by the government.

Video transcript:
00:01 | Let’s make a real evaluation of what occurred during the demonstration in Jaén.
00:04 | Because the mainstream media are releasing an official version which is not the real one.
00:10 | What we — ASEPRES of Andalucía — affirm is that the trade unions
00:16 | that are funded by the government will not defend farmers.
00:21 | In reality they are defending the government.
00:24 | It is nothing but massive sensationalism.
00:27 | It is not a real fight. They make people believe they will, but in reality
00:32 | they will not take action to solve the problems affecting the primary sector.
00:46 | It seems that this demonstration is just
00:50 | to further advertise UPA [trade union] and other associations.
00:54 | Because no tractor has a platform about the problems
00:58 | involving gas prices, or other problems affecting farming.
01:01 | All they have on the top is trade union banners.
01:06 | Nothing but publicity for trade unions.
01:13 | Two groups came to the demonstration. On one hand, the trade unions that went there
01:17 | just to put on a show. They claim they fight against the government, whereas they are funded by it.
01:23 | And on the other hand, ASEPRES, which does fight against the real problems affecting farming.
01:29 | To the viewers of this video: we will not achieve anything
01:33 | unless we realize that trade unions are here just to take pictures.
01:38 | Watch how trade unionists chased us away from the demonstration.
01:42 | Get out of here, go away, you do not belong here.
01:50 | You guys have not even summoned a demonstration, you are not even from Jaén.
01:54 | Go away! | |
01:57 | As you can see, we have come to support this demonstration. A peaceful, free demonstration.
02:02 | We have come here to support them because we all claim the same things.
02:06 | The only difference is that we don’t feel represented by that union.
02:09 | People are asking us why we don’t support that demonstration.
02:13 | We do support the same claims as all of them.
02:17 | What we don’t support is UPA, which defends their own paycheck, first of all.
02:22 | After doing that, if they have any time left, they will defend farmers, too.
02:25 | We all have the right to be in the same place. —Not without permission. Where is your permit?
02:31 | Go away, just leave the demonstration. |
