Canadians May See a 0.5% Interest Rate Hike This Week Thanks to ‘Persistent’ Inflation

The Bank of Canada is likely to hike its benchmark interest rate another half a percentage point on June 1, further raising the cost of borrowing to tackle “persistent” inflation levels not seen in 30 years, economists predict.

Economists who spoke to Global News all said they expect the central bank’s key interest rate to rise to 1.5 per cent on Wednesday.

Money markets are also pricing in a hike of 50 basis points, economists confirmed.

Such a move would make the second consecutive jump of 50 basis points from the central bank. The last time it raised rates half a percentage point in back-to-back decisions was nearly 25 years ago, in December 1997 and January 1998.

Benjamin Reitzes, Canadian rates and macro strategist at BMO Capital Markets, told Global News that the hike is expected due to inflation figures remaining high through the first half of 2022.

The 6.8 per cent inflation rate recorded last month was well above the Bank of Canada’s inflation forecast released at the start of April, which pegged year-over-year price growth around six per cent in the second quarter of the year.

U.K. consumer price inflation hit 9% for the first time since 1982 in April, and the U.S. hit 8.5% inflation in March.

Breaking Down DuckDuckGo’s Microsoft Tracking Controversy

How about a Big Tech “privacy-friendly alternative” that’s, in reality, teaming up and working closely with Microsoft — and appears to put faith in the ethics of a notoriously and historically unethical corporate giant? And what if this “alternative” has a tracking deal with Microsoft?

A pretty bleak prospect, considering that these massive corporations are about as bad as each other where monopolistic behavior, user tracking, and data harvesting is concerned.

But that is precisely what DuckDuckGo (DGG) — a “Google Search alternative” search engine and browser that has lately been stumbling from one credibility-undermining controversy to another — is now being accused of. And once again, its CEO Gabriel Weinberg is in full damage control mode on social networks, denying that anything’s wrong — but not so much by clearly explaining the situation, as by talking in circles to justify it.

Michael Sussmann Found Not Guilty of Charge Brought by Special Prosecutor John Durham

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The jury on Tuesday found Michael Sussmann not guilty of making a false statement to the FBI in September 2016 when he said he was not working on behalf of any client, when he brought information alleging a covert communications channel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank.

After a two week trial, and more than a day of deliberations, the jury found that Special Counsel John Durham’s team had not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Sussmann’s statement was a lie, and that he was, in fact, working on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and technology executive Rodney Joffe when he brought two thumb drives and a white paper alleging a Trump-Russia connection.

Teacher Closed Door That Gunman Used to Enter Uvalde School, State Authorities Say

UVALDE, Texas — The teacher who police said left a door propped open minutes before a gunman entered Robb Elementary School and murdered 19 children and two teachers had actually closed the door, though it did not lock, state authorities now say.

The new development adds to a list of revised accounts from authorities of the May 24 school shooting, including the amount of time before law enforcement officials entered the classrooms where the gunman was shooting and details about officers’ interactions with the gunman.

State police initially said the teacher, who has not been identified, propped the door open with a rock and did not remove it before the gunman entered.

“We did verify she closed the door. The door did not lock. We know that much and now investigators are looking into why it did not lock,” Travis Considine, chief communications officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Tuesday…

Czechia Wants to Elevate Ukraine to Candidacy Status During Its EU Presidency

On July 1, Czechia will take over the six-month presidency of the EU Council, and the motto “Europe as a task” will then replace the current “We will sweeten it for Europe.” What the task is, the government has not yet revealed. What is not surprising is the main task of the Czech presidency: confronting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The fallout from the invasion will likely continue to accelerate as debates surrounding the issue start turning into concrete proposals.

Denmark Holds Referendum on Dropping EU Defence Opt-Out

Danes vote in a referendum on Wednesday on whether to scrap a 30-year opt-out and take part in EU defence and security policy.

Opinion polls suggest Danes back closer European defence ties, and the result could affect their military future.

Equally, there has been plenty of confusion about what the vote means in a country that is already part of Nato’s defensive alliance.

New Study Links COVID Vaccines to 25% Increase in Cardiac Arrest for Both Males & Females

Study based on data from emergency services. COVID infection itself not linked to significant increase in cardiovascular complications.

[…]

A new study by Israeli researchers and published in Nature has revealed an increase of over 25 percent in cardiovascular-related emergency calls in the young-adult population, following the rollout of COVID vaccines, among both males and females. No similar increase was found due to COVID infection alone.

Israel health authorities and the U.S. Centers of Disease Control (CDC) have acknowledged a link between COVID vaccines and specific cardiovascular complications. The risk of myocarditis after receiving a second vaccine dose is now estimated to be between 1 in 3000 to 1 in 6000 in men aged 16 to 24.

Recent articles in scientific journals, however, have sought to suggest that cardiovascular complications following COVID infection are more common than those following vaccination. This assertion is contradicted by the findings from a recent study conducted by Israeli researchers, using data from Israel National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) related to “cardiac arrest and acute coronary syndrome EMS calls in the 16—39-year-old population” between 2019 and 2021. This enabled them to compare baseline (pre-COVID epidemic) to COVID epidemic without vaccines, to COVID epidemic following widespread vaccine takeup.

An increase of over 25% was detected in both call types during January—May 2021, compared with the years 2019—2020. That is to say, “increased rates of vaccination … are associated with increased number of CA [cardiac arrest] and ACS [acute coronary syndrome].” By contrast, the trial “did not detect a statistically significant association between the COVID-19 infection rates and the CA and ACS weekly call counts.”

[now even the MSM (in Israel) is beginning to get the picture….]

Kremlin Responds to Claims Putin is Terminally Ill

Russia has responded to claims that keep appearing in western media outlets, including those made by ‘peegate’ dossier author Christopher Steele, that Vladimir Putin is dying of a terminal illness.

Lurid assertions about Putin’s health appear to be part of a black propaganda campaign to deflate the ‘masculine’ image Putin tries to portray, given that they appear to be backed by no actual evidence whatsoever.

Indeed, the much vaunted ‘fact-checkers’ seem to be AWOL on this one.

Latest News in the Russia-Ukraine War

U.S.: The Biden administration plans to supply Ukraine with a guided-rocket system capable of hitting targets from a distance of more than 40 miles, according to U.S. officials, providing new details on plans first reported last week.

Markets: Crude prices traded at their highest levels in more than two months after the European Union said for the first time that it would impose an oil embargo on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. The embargo will include an exemption for oil delivered from Russia via pipelines, an amount that makes up one-third of EU oil purchases from Russia.

Some OPEC members are exploring the idea of dropping Russia from an agreement on oil-production targets, a move that enable other members to pump more crude.

EU: The bloc’s leaders met for the second day of a two-day summit where food security is a new focus, as a result of Russia’s blockading of Ukrainian ports. Countries in the Middle East and Africa are suffering from shortages of Ukrainian grain, food oils and other products.

America’s European allies are increasingly split over whether to keep shipping more powerful weapons to Ukraine.

Inflation in the eurozone reached an annual 8.1% in May, with consumer prices rising at the fastest pace since records began at the start of 1997.

India: New Delhi: Campaign Against Sai Baba Temples by Hindutva Groups

Exposing the Jihadi fraud of Sai Baba alias Chand Muhammad!

Soham Singh Pal | HENB | New Delhi | May 31, 2022:: Launching a campaign to debunk the myth about Sai Baba alias Chand Muhammad under the pretext of an “awareness campaign”, against Sai Baba temples and idols in New Delhi. The Delhi based Hindutva leader Sanjeev Bhati has warned the priests of these temples to remove the idols from there or face consequences. There are many Hindutva groups who are supporting the campaign against the fraud of Sai Baba.

A video has surfaced on various social medias where the right-wing leader, surrounded by his “followers” is heard lecturing, “We are starting an awareness campaign against all Sai temples. Initially, we will talk nicely to them. If they do not listen, then they will have to face our ire. We will go there with hammer and chisel and destroy Sai idols to throw away.”

The campaign against Sai Baba created a new spate of controversy in the social media platforms by and large.

Until recently, Bhati was rigorously fighting “love Jihad” and “triple talaq”in Delhi region with some fringe Hindutva groups.

But, the matter of Sai Baba was turned an important issue since Dwarka Peeth Shankaracharya Swaroopananda Saraswati made it clear that Sai Baba had no place of godliness+ in Hindu Dharma as he was a cryptic Muslim with an agenda to mislead the Sanatan Hindu people in many ways.

Then the ‘same DNA’ propagator RSS (Rashtiya Secular Sangha) described Sai Baba alias Chand Muhammad as a proponent of Hindu Dharma+!

As per authentic biography, Sai Baba was a son of a Pindari Muslim who used to loot Hindus and participated in the groups of British spies. Sai Baba devoted his whole life to mislead Sanatani Hindus from its original faith indulging them in many anti-Hindu activities.

China’s Censorship is Hindering Open-Source Software Movements

Thousands of developers in China had their open-source code on Gitee, a state-funded alternative to the global repository platform Github, censored and hidden from the public. In a statement, Gitee said that it was manually reviewing the projects, a requirement for all open-source code before publishing.

For the open-source software community, the censorship was unexpected as it would have an impact on transparency and global collaboration.

Kirk Cameron: Public Schools Grooming Kids With Critical Race Theory, ‘Sexual Chaos,’ and ‘Racial Confusion’

Award-winning actor Kirk Cameron blasted America’s public schools for becoming breeding grounds for far-left progressive agendas, including critical race theory, Nikole Hannah-Jones’ 1619 Project, and gender ideology.

“The problem is that public school systems have become so bad. It’s sad to say they’re doing more for grooming, for sexual chaos and the progressive left than any real educating about the things that most of us want to teach our kids,” he told Fox News Digital. The solution to the problem, he said, was for parents to take the lead on their children’s education and teach them at home. To make the case, the award-winning actor referenced his upcoming movie, “The Homeschool Awakening.”

Our Values? McDonald’s Touts ‘Rainbow Sticks’ For ‘Pride Month’

The company said that this advertising slogan was intended to express its solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

WHO Says Gay Pride Events Should Go Ahead Despite Monkeypox Threat

The World Health Organization says that global mass gathering events planned for ‘Gay Pride Month’ shouldn’t be cancelled despite the fact that experts say monkeypox is circulating largely amongst LGBT people.

Apparently, allowing scantily-clad gay men to suggestively gyrate in street parades is more important than curbing a dangerous disease.

Who knew?

  1. A French military doctor who was picking up his children at a Catholic school in Marseille died after his throat was slit by a man named Mohamed L.

What? Are European being slaughtered like sheep? Military doctor? Did he not have a handgun? Any strength? No feminists there to defend him?

Or he could not use any self defence because his own democratic government would imprison him for scratching a muslim master?

In other news, the World Health Organization said that Gay Pride events should go ahead as planned, despite the fact that monkeypox spreads mainly by sexual contact among LGBTQ people.

That attitude from W H O falls exactly in the category of helping its narrative: It wants the people to get all type of diseases and rest in the grave, have nothing and be happy.

  2. France is lost , totally lost ,Macron will make sure to make a France a caliphate, very sad , beautiful country…

  3. Re: Swedish Minister tells Migrant Women not to have More Children than they can Afford.

Well, yes. There was some media interest here in the UK a few years ago around a (native British) couple who kept having kids while living off benefits. There was also some controversy around poor ultra-orthodox Jews in Hackney (north London) having larger than usual families and wanting social housing to accommodate them all.

I’ve not seen anything in the media about the frequent similar occurrences among our Muslim population (surprise, surprise!)

As a former taxpayer, now retired, I have the same message for all of them: stop taking the piss! Having children is a privilege, not a right, and it is arrogant for you to expect other people to pay for them.

    • Well this is what you have voted for, for over the entire time of your existence you have voted for the communist labor party, now bloody revel in it. The same party that threw Rhodesia, South Africa and Kenya under the bus, the same GD Godless communists who opened the doors to the bloody 3rd world to invade jolly ole Britain, the same people who fed Poland and east Europe to the GD Soviets because ole Churchill decided to make a deal with the devil Stalin because the Germans were not going to take the Brits war reparations nonsense and you got the devil in return. You made your bed and are now shocked because of your own choices and surprised of the results? Really!?
